makmak - so happy to see you post and that your spirits are up. Good news from your onc.

Makmak, it is good you are feeling better but it is okay to be feeling whatever you are feeling as you have been on a rough road.
I am not sure if we are still talking about destination spots for lunch (I am not even sure I can go) but I wanted to let Lago know that my sil takes the train from the loop to Glen Ellyn and Honeys is a block away from the train.
Well I am feeling that mix of sadness to leave the vacation and happiness to get home and be in my own home with my DH and my cat and to be with my grandchildren. We went to Taos today and went to some pueblos and then to a gallery. I just love this land and the people here.
Take care.

I am available to drive as well, and drive better than ADEY! : ) Anyplace is fine with me. Havent been to Honeys but have been to Harry Careys. It's a bit pricey. http://www.harrycarays.com/menus_lombard.html
There are probably 15 restaurants in Yorktown, everything from Ed Debevics (cheap) to Capital Grill ($$$$)
Or if you would like, I can have you all over at my house, I am only a few blocks from yorktown, but I AM NOT COOKING. lol. But we could just order in pizza's....just saying.
Thank you for all the hugs. I'm doing well. But the hugs are always appreciated. Onward

This is the lunch menu for Honeys. They do not serve alcohol. Are we talking lunch or dinner? I am guessing lunch.

Caryn is right -- there is pretty much everything at Yorktown. I love Ra Sushi, as well as Flat Top Grill, which is great for vegetarians. Harry Caray's is awesome for a splurge, had one of the best steaks I have had in recent memory there about two months ago... but it definitely breaks the bank!
Dinner is way easier for me, but I'll try to figure something out if we are talking about lunch. I can only break away for about an hour, so it would have to be close (i.e. at Yorktown). My boss has been extremely understanding about all the time I have needed to take off for surgery and treatment, and I don't want to push my luck with a long lunch hour!

Yum SUSHI! Granted I know many people don't like sushi but I wouldn't mind. Honey cafe looks good too as does Claim Jumper.
I think I've eaten at the Capital Grille before. If I remember the food was good but they are $$

Hi girls! Hope you're all doing well/feeling well.
Has a specific date been set for a get-together (the sooner, the better usually works best for everyone's schedules)? I'll attempt to organize the northern Illinois girls and hopefully a car load will attend.
For fun...I put a slice of an orange with a tsp of grape jelly on it and attracted a gorgeous Baltimore Oriole to my deck this morning. Ahhhhhhhhhhh...the simple things in life!
Hope you all have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend. For those inclined: don't forget to hang your flag on Monday. fyi...imo...this is the most important holiday for me. I swear my blood is red, white and blue! lol
Anywho...be well!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO EVERYONE! We're heading to KY so I can get my hands on those grandsons. I hope everyone is feeling good that day and enjoys it. Hugs to all of you.

Happy Memorial Day to all! It looks like we may have nice weather after all. I'm hoping to plant a few flowers, and maybe one tomato plant on the deck. That's the only place the deer can't get to it. I have to put all the chairs around it as a baricade, and that has worked pretty well. I wouldn't mind sharing, but if given the chance they eat all the tomatoes.
Honey's sounds great, but I think I'll be at the AMA meeting then. Have a great time!
Lago, I love sushi, so maybe a city meeting for that? By the way, Walgreen's should not be giving shingles vaccine to anyone with a history of having chemo. It is a live virus, and not yet approved for us. At least not the last time I checked. It says so right on the package, but I always check periodically in case that changes. Hope you are feeling much better....my DH said that in addition to the pain, he felt a little sick, just like any other virus.
Julie, so sorry about the infection. Hope by now it is under control. Hang in there, and know we are all here for you.
Marina, your life sounds so busy with the kids! Glad you're feeling better. Enhanced SE's, I'll go along with that!
Still have one child here, so have to go spend a little time with her. She heads back to Madison tomorrow.

smerf Sushi is every where. I don't care where I get to eat it. Love to have a city meet up but it doesn't seem all that convenient to most here. I'm pissed we (you and I ) never got to do sushi. I think we need to a Devon Ave, Indian/Pakistani lunch/dinner some time or maybe (Lawrence ave/Kedzie st) Korean barbecue or Sun Wah on Argyle St..
BTW I don't think anyone should get a vaccine without clearing it with their doctor first.

HAPPY MEMORIAL WEEKEND !!!!!! Oh I have only 5 more days of school....then it is play time for me. Off to Las Vegas for a girls trip. So excited!!! The kids are so nutty at school they too need summer break. I am going to Navy Pier with 80 3rd graders on a boat trip. Hoping for nice weather for a boat ride and picnic in Mellieum Park. Some of my kids have never seen the city must less a boat. So it should be interesting.
Lago.. I love sushi and now that dd lives in the city I am visiting her often..so lunch /dinner would be nice. Just let me know.
Smerf...I still have not planted my flowers. I am hoping to go get some this weekend. But I lots of bunnies in my yard. They do like my flowers. Tasty treats for them.
Zap...how is your trip going. I bet you are having so much fun. You need to share your pic with us of your missions you have seen. I bet they are pretty awesome.

Something for this special week-end:
Oh, it's home again and home again, America for me!
I want a ship that's westward bound to plough the rolling sea
To the blessed land of Room Enough beyond the ocean bars,
Where the air is full of sunlight and the flag is full of stars.

Good morning everyone......sure would have enjoyed a couple more hours of sleep. Had to do a lot of cleaning and straightening as Dh's son was/is here for the week-end. We will have a good time I'm sure. In between I'll be doing my usual of Maggie's place and the feral cats. Storms? or rain? possible today, but we have a cook-out planned for tomorrow,. I'm thinking the Cherry Jello again.....it is so good, as well as cold spaghetti salad, maybe some potato salad with sour cream dressing and I found a recipe for what sounds like very easy German Chocolate Cheesecake. I always try to take at least one dish I've never done before....hmm, it will be rewarding.
Bj....glad you did the Jello for school. I'm all for the easy stuff, but putting the lemonade in that just makes it so perky.
Well, onward for now. I'll be taking breaks through the day and will be stopping later I'm sure. Hope you are all gettting set for a wonderful week-end.
Hugs, Jackie

Happy Saturday to all. Looks like we may have a nice weekend...so hoping to soak up some sun if it ever peeks through. Jackie...love your quote...and God bless all our service men who are fighting for us overseas.
Nana...I would suggest that everyone just meet for lunch at your hotel the Westin as it would be easy. What day are you looking to meet? You can pick a date / time that works for you then let everyone know.
Off to run....have a wonderful weekend.

Jackie I tweetic the recipe, I used pink lemonade in the jello and use powder sugar w / cream cheese and a splash of milk with the cool whip. Whipped it up. Put some colored sprinkles on top of the cool whip for color. Very yummy. I am a jello queen so I love to try new recipes.
Thanks a bunch.....

I'm up for lunch that week... once we settle on a day I'll do my best to block my calendar, so I can join everyone.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend. We are in the midst of a soccer tournament for my 10 year old... four games this weekend, in Oswego, so more time in the car than on the field. But she loves playing soccer, and it is definitely fun to watch her, as she has a smile on her face the whole time she is playing. Other than that, the washing machine broke (ouch!) so my husband is going to attempt to repair it today, we'll see how that goes. Otherwise, a trip to the laundromat is in order.
15 rads down, 13 to go. Skin holding up well, but had a small pimple develop on my breast, you just can't imagine how much attention I got yesterday as a result of that! Now I'm on antibiotics, plus using bacitracin on the area. But so glad to know my doctor's are taking every little thing seriously.

LisaMom, broken washing machine + bigger family = big problems. I hope your DH can get it fixed.
I am home and I cannot believe how green everything is! I realized that it never rained once (a problem) while I was in NM. The cat gave me the cold furry shoulder.
Jackie, I am going to do the jello thing for Father's Day. I rarely have luck with jello but if I can force myself to follow this recipe, perhaps I will be lucky,
Have a good Memorial Day.

Today is DH's b-day and also FIL's b-day too.. DH had breakfast in bed and enjoyed every bites.. Dean wrote b-day card and gave daddy a big hug.. It was fun and good moment..
Dean is registered for Kindergarten this fall and he is very excited but for me, it's bitter sweet.. Oh well, what can you do, they gonna grow and grow and grew up..
My in-law was here few weeks ago and we all had fantastic time at the beach, park, and even slept in the cabooses.. (I still gotta download the pictures from my phone)
I don't post much but that doesn't mean anything because I do miss you very much and thinking about you everyday and hoping that one day I can come visit Illinois and meet my sisters again...

LisaMomoffour...DH does our laundry and yesterday he overloaded our washer but thankfully he smelled it getting hot and shut it off in time and unloaded part of it and restarted...so far so good...It is a lot of work to go to the laundrymat so I hope your DH is able to get yours fixed...Good luck on finishing your rads...woo hoo...almost done!
Tues Wed would work best for lunch for me that week which would be the 14th or 15th...we will arrive on Mon eve and leave thurs afternoon/evening....But honestly I understand if that does not work for everyone.
I'm heading to bed....I kept the twin grandsons (19 months) two evenings in a row. and this nana is pooped...my DIL's youngest brother got married so I was on Nana duty off and on all weekend for all the activities...

Morning and waving from the lake. Boy is it foggy here up north. You think I was in heaven with all this fog. lol It is starting to get a little warm up here. Maybe a boat ride if it clears up. There are so many festival's this weekend. May try to go to East Troy for some treasure hunting today. Zap they are having a craft fair up there with corn, beer and brats. yummy. Tomorrow looks like a really hot sunny day here.
Nana...glad to see that you had some grandma time with the grand kids. Enjoy as they do grow up fast. Weds for lunch would work for me as I am out of town on Tues. Pick a day / time that works for you and then let everyone know. Meeting at your hotel for lunch is much easier then trying to find a place elsewhere. Just my suggestions.
Zap...glad to see that you had a wonderful vacation with your dd. Any thoughts about coming up north here maybe a visit / lunch? Are you still looking for a summer place? Jackie's jello recipe was super easy and yummy too. So you can do too. lol
Elf..it is so good to hear from you. Yes your sisters do miss you and your sparkle shoes. Hope you can come back for the holiday party. That would be great. Do you have all day kindergarten for Dean.
Well I gotta run....Hope everyone has a wonderful fun filled Sunday. Enjoy summer is almost here.
BJ
Lisa...how are you doing w /rads. Remember to rest and drink lots of fluids.

June 15th lunch would be perfect for me BJ..Time does not matter...if there are ones that have a lunch hour what ever time works out best would be great. I have not eaten anywhere in that are so I assume you are talking Harey carey's or are there other restaurants near the motel (westin)
Have a good day everyone!

I can come late on the 15th (dentist appointment at 11) but I can't eat or drink anything. Colonoscopy the next morning. Any other day good for you? Monday,Tuesday and Friday work for me. If not I guess I'm going to have to miss this one… unless I'm not too high after the colonoscopy. I don't think the let you drive after that. My is at 9am.

This rain is scary and I mean scary. Whatever is happening with our weather?
BJ, I can go up North any time. My good friend has a place on Delavan and I go to see her during the summer. It is an easy drive. We are holding off on getting a summer place. This recession is keeping us conservative. You let me know what works for you and we'll meet for lunch anytime in the summer. East Troy holds memories for me. My brother studied to be a priest and went to a seminary up there (he left that vocation) and we loved East Troy, Wisconsin. We are going waaaaay up North to Pike Lake for a reunion of Paul's fraternity brothers. They are all getting old but love to down a beer together and tell embellished stories of their youth while the wives roll their eyes!
Lago, you cannot drive after that THINGY! You need to bring someone with you. It truly is not awful, but you'll be happy to be in the comfort of your own home when it is over.
Jackie, I am liking the book you suggested. It sure fits in with the recent New Mexico experience. Without sounding weird, I really felt at times I was on sacred ground, especially on my visit with these wonderful people called the Pueblos Indians.
Stay dry. This storm is crazy. How is it down by you, Jackie? Have fun with your sil.

Don't worry my husband is bringing me. I remember bringing him to his years ago. They won't do the procedure if you don't have someone to drive you home. I don't think they will even let you go home in a cab. I often wonder what single elderly folks do with no family close.
BTW the storm is crazy here in Chicago. Looks like the world is going to end. We were going to drive up to MI (my DH's brother had a place up there) today but changed our mind when we read about "severe storm warnings" from the National Weather Service. I think my DH was looking for an excuse not to go. Unless the weather was sunny he wasn't up for it.
I'm enjoying a diet Dr. Pepper right now. Oh what a treat. Before chemo I used to have 1-2 a day. Now it's more like 1-2 a month.

It's crazy here in the forest. Geesh...lightning, thunder...it's dark and scary! Be safe everyone.
