LOL NM.....the "Manicure" dwink....and doggie waiting for mani to dry. I don't know the 1st ingredient, but I know our HTL will have it, and Pants can make it for us. You are right about the class....much better to spend time with my mom! BTW, do you do Sadie's nails, or take her somewhere? We just have our dogs nails done when they go for their yearly vet visit....I know they should be done at least every 6 mo...they live in the back yard, but no concrete to wear them down on, unfortunately. But just got an email from my parents neighbor here, mentioning a vet tech that comes to your home just to do dogs nails....and mentioned they should be done every couple of weeks!!! WTH???? Got a kick out of you and Husker saying you would prolly get the first dog you saw, whenever you look for a dog again! When we lost our beloved Max (Max-Worth-A-Million), we were devastated, but I knew if we had another dog we would love them too. So I started looking after a couple of wks. I looked at EVERY animal shelter in every state we went through. DH was convinced I would get the first dog I saw, but no, I knew what I was looking for. Not only a "certain look", but one that pulled at your heartstrings. Then we found Maverick online (was called Rabbit) who melted our hearts, and he came with his sister Molly (called Sally)....she was too shy and prolly would not have gotten a home, although she was pretty. They had gone past the time they normally would have been put down, so I was SO glad we found them, in the nick of time. And Molly has sure blossomed, and is so friendly and happy. Just that she likes to dig and is always a mess!!! So I really think I know what you mean, prolly wouldn't be the "first" dog you saw, but the first one that melts your heart. Of course, we would get them all if we could!!! Just wish they would live soooo much longer than they do. Thanks for the funnies!!!

Lori, I think DorK's surgery is the 21st. Is that right, DorK? So sad that your flowers died...aarrgghhhhhh!!! We have had a lot of rain this year (raining now, too), and so far everything is so nice and green and lush. Unfortunately that also means the weeds are growing too! I have some flowering plants that love the heat and can be dry; lantana, coreopsis, and one I love that I can't think of the name (aaarrghhhhh!)....but it is a tall succulent type, and has large "flowers" in late summer that change color in the fall, goes from pink to gray I think. Anyway I finally planted that one here this spring as I loved it at my former house. But with your intense heat, and so much dryness, I am sure you know what should do best there. And sometimes the ones we really want just don't do well. Too bad, as I know how much you love flowers. Sorry to hear your dad does not talk to your kids...yup HIS loss, but thats sad. Glad you and your siblings are so close!

So nice to hear from you DorK! Hope your pre-op goes purrfect, and no snags. Of course since you got so hydrated at the HTL, you will be sooooooo mellow. Like the others have said, do not try to ketchup, just post when you can and let us hear from you. Sorry you had to fire Stella, but there is unlimited likker here, so dwink up!!!!

To everyone else....like DorK said...Happy "Fried-dey"!!! Hugs all around.....

Oooooohhh.....the bar is so qwiet. I have the Tattie Tenders all to meeself, but would wather have you gals here to chat with! Where is everyone? Junie, is that you in the Casino lugging that big bag of moola? Looks like you were a big winnah!!! Come on up to the bar girlz....dwinks are on me!

I kept wondering why I was not receiving emails from my mom. It would show up at the bottom of my screen that I had a message from her, but I would check, and nada. So I called her, and then I realized all her messages were coming up as being sent in Sept 2004!!! So found them at the end of my emails, and realized the date on her computer somehow got changed to that date. Could not walk her through it on the phone though...would be easy for anyone to fix. Anyway, she sounded good and when I asked her if she wanted to go to a painting class with me, the night of the day she arrives (after flying all night), she thought it would be fun. I know she might not remember saying that, but as long as I know she wants to go, I will sign us up for it!

Lori, The name of the plant I couldn't remember is Autumn Joy Sedum. Does that survive in your area?

Just in for a quickie, I'll join you Kathy! But first I have to say how I laughed at NM's post and the doggie mani! Too funny.

Anyways, the problems with most flowers here that can handle the heat, can not live through our winters.........lantana being one of them. The sedums seem to do ok, and I think I know which one you are referring to, I think we called them "live forevers" if I sas a pic, I would know.

Came home to a deer in the yard, thank goodness they can't get into the side yard anymore where the flowers and veggies are, or he would have had a blast....I mean FEAST! He just wandered off slowly. Later I had to go get rid of a critter that was caught in a trap and low and behold, who do I see? The deer, just over one of the rock ledges, laying under a tree. Had to chase him off, as I didn't want him hanging around. But he was pretty with his felted antlers. Not huge ones, but still a pretty buck.

My neighbor, who has a beautiful garden (she is 70) and has cats and a shephard (Marley). Well a deer found her garden and was NOT going to leave. She had Marley out there, she was trying to chase it, and it just was not going to leave. She said it even tried to charge her!

Grabbing me a few MANICURE'S and heading into the casino. Must see where Junie is getting all that MOOLAH!

Whoa, talk about country living, Lori!!! *as I am singing the "Green Acres" song in my head*. So cute though to see that deer so close, but with the damage it can do, I can understand why you don't want it around! The annual lantana does not usually survive our winters either, but there is a perennial one I found this year, that is supposed to make it ok. Cute name for the sedum....."live forevers"! Glad you popped in for a brewsky...or whatever your preference is! Well, of course we will have the MANICURE'S too!!!! OH, I see you found Junie....and.....oh oh....is she hiding behind that machine, with Jocks?????? She is one wild woman!!!! ChEARS!

Here is the autumn joy sedum....is this the same as your "live forevers"? Then the pink flowers change color in the fall......

When I lived in the country north of NYC, there was one time when I really felt for the mother.  She had THREE fat little ones, and she was beyond skinny.  As deer have two teats, and not four like cows, I am wondering how they managed that timeshare.

I am signing off until most likely Monday AM.  Have everything ready for the Seattle-to-Portland.  Last thing was Shot Blocks which provide energy and electrolytes.  Loaded up my pack with the likes of GU gels, Larabars, Accelerade, and now Shot Blocks.  Also have ibuprofen.  I am covered.

So exciting when you do one of these events, and have been feeling the rush since I picked up my packet yesterday.  So much fun.

Weather should be perfect.  Partly cloudy with highs near 70.  7 mph north wind, which means a TAILWIND!!!!  Yippie.

    Happy dwinking!  cHairs. - Claire

Wahine--I don't do Sadie's nails, she won't let me.  First dog I've ever had that I simply cannot trim toenails for.  I need to find a groomer nearby that can manage her for that.  Every 2 weeks???? I don't think so!  I usually do my dogs once a month or so, and they have no concrete to wear them down either, just the pavement when we take our walkies.  As far as looking for a new dog, the dogs always choose me.  Sadie was one of 3 dogs in the shelter, jumping up and down, just saying to me "I love you" "Take me with you" "I love you" "take me home with you" "you know you love me too" and how do you resist that?  But I do understand the looking for a type or certain character.  I beleive that dog-human matches are all pre-destined, but what do I know?

Goldie--one thing I've learned growing up in Maine is to never think of a deer as a gentle, passive animal.  Deer have a HUGE stubborn streak, and can turn mean if provoked.  Dogs aren't allowed to run deer but that is just as much to protect the dogs as to protect the deer!  Young males are especially unpredictable, and if one finds a garden and decides to make it part of his territory, then the gardener is in for a fight.  When the gardener wins it usually means venison in someone's freezer. . .

Claire--Hooray for tail winds!  Have a great time!

Happy FRIED-DAY loungies!!! Lost a long eloquent post last night--just as I went to hit submit, we had a brief power flicker, so lost it....grrrrr. Anyways......

wish it had been me in our casino lugging loads of cash around, but it must have been my evil twin! Part of my lost post mentioned that I was also the youngest--my sister was 8 yrs older. And how much we all seem to have in common besides the bc crap. Rural here, too, although not as isolated as Lori and Beans AND our love of our fur babies.....and a dust storm! was originally going to say I was riding a camel to see the Great Sphinx...but was laffin so hard, I couldn't do it! Did go through a similar dust storm in Kansas many years ago--terrifying and awful!

We don't have much concrete to wear down Pncho's nails either so he usually has them trimmed and gets a bath when he's boarded. I think he would let us cut his nails but I've always been afraid of cutting to close--worth it to me to pay the vet to do it.

Lori--my dau brought me some Panko bread crumbs on her last visit. Last night I baked a white fish that DH is still raving about It was kind of a PITA--rinse the fillets, dredge in flour, dip in egg, roll in the Panko....but, they were really good!. Tonight, DH wanted Mexican but really didn't want to go do take out. I wanted BLT's--but, no bread, no lettuce, no Miracle Whip......all I had was tomatoes and bacon. soooo...(sure there is a cyber recipe for this, but truly was just a spontaneous concoct on my part.....) I sliced the tomato, fried up some bacon, steamed some flour tortillas in the microwave, spread sour cream over the hot tortillas, couple dashes of cilantro; layered tomatoes/bacon/baby spinach....wrapped them up and served with a dollop of salsa to dip them in. They were really GOOD! Martha Stewart, I'm not--so when I fix something edible, I'm astonished!!!

Heading into the casino to find my evil twin and steal her money! Then, out to the pool--hope someone's there to jabber with. big huggssss to ALL and have a super Sat-Turd-Day!!!

    bottomsup!!!!!

Must be Fried-day cuz I'm fried... wanted to drop in just to say hi and I'll have to catch up tomorrow...

Wow, Lori, I'm impressed! I did the grout on my little tile project today and by the end I was saying "never again!"  Every muscle in my body aches... and my fingers were completely shriveled up... my hands are sore from squeazing the grout bag and my fingertips are sore... did I already say my hair hurts? jk but I did get grout in my bob. Yes, WD = dachshund. Our friends brought over their new puppy this evening - she is a chi-weenie (chihuahua-weiner dog) and so cute!

    Sweet dreams, ladies!

Gosh Kathy, that is not the Autumn Joy Sedum I think of.... that is really pretty. My mom used to have some kind of Sedum that needed very little soil so she could grown them pretty much on the rocks going into her pool, really pretty. I have rocks going into my fish pond and thought that would be lovely but I'm afraid it is too shady. Well, the netting my cousin put over the pond seems to be working, perhaps too well. The heron can no longer get in, nor the frogs so I counted about 10 new babies today... OK, the pond just isn't that big, oh dear....

Oh Junie, both sound wonderful. You know I have heard you are supposed to do the flour then egg then crumbs but it always made more sense to do the egg first - I guess that might be why mine don't turn out correctly!

Do moths bite? I think one got me on my neck. Got all set up earlier to watch the princess and the frog with my son with DS and even got my Daughter to agree to watch so about half way through we hear noises upstairs.... we he left to go on the computer so my daughter and I are sitting watching a cartoon?! LOL so afterwards, as we had to see the end of course, I want to know who is playing the voice of the bad guy as he sounds so familar. Well, small world, I know him. Long ago working in theatre we did 3 Penny Opera and he played Mac The Knife. Actually was slow on learning his lines so I had to go over to his apt several times to help him. He was nice enough but a bit full of himself. Well, he has certainly gone far and done well. so just an interesting side note.

Went to check the guest house as my friend's daughter will be back tomorrow and so went to clean up after my guest. Well, heavens now she is the total perfect guest, I swear she left it cleaner than she went into it! What a lovely surprise! Even washed all the dishes and took all the dirty linens and towels up to the laundry and everything! Happy, happy, happy!

OK, off to sleep.... Happy weekend all!

WooHoo....Bartender....I mean Chrissy, can you fix me a dwink??? Just woke up, so something with a bit of joe in it would be awesome. You are da bomb.....such a gweat bartender!

Stanzie, I think there are many types of sedums...and since they are succulents can do well in heat and dry areas. I have seen some of the low-growing ones, but the Autumn Sedum grows about 14" high, more or less. I don't know if moths can bite...scary....did you google it to see? How totally awesome that you know the guy that did the voice in that movie!!! You have such an interesting past (well, and present, too!).  Very glad your guest left everything so clean! I think that is what houseguests SHOULD do, esp when in a totally separate area. When we have stayed in the apt at my parents, because there is no a/c, I always have to shower AFTER cleaning everything spotless, before leaving for the airport. It takes such a long time, too.

Finding *several* empty bottles lying around...DorK and Beans musta had some partay last night! Talk about passing the bottle, I mean BOTTLES. Beans, drive carefully and let us know when you get home safely!!!!

Junie, that fish sounds soooo good! I always forget to use panko, although my dad has used it for years, since it was popular in Hawaii way before it hit the mainland. Long ago, we had to buy it there, but now it is available almost anywhere. What temp did you bake it at? Would that be a good way to do chicken breasts too? We usually grill them or cook in a little olive oil, but DH found a great sale and bought several pks of them, so might want to try something new. Your tortilla wrapped blts sound ono also!!!

Gail, Hope you can relax today, since you did all that grout yesterday! I have never used a "grout bag"...is it better than schlepping it on there? If I end up redoing that bathroom grout, since the tiles are soooo close, I might need something else, to make sure I get it all filled in. Here ya go, a big dwink for you made especially for you by our dear temp bartender, Chrissy!

    Happy Sat-Turd-Day Goils!!!!

Forgot to mention....this was scary to watch. Went to my parents house yesterday and walked in the back by edge of the lake....something was stirring up the water and jumping around. Realized it was a fish...mabye 8-10" long....and it was being pursued by a snake! It was about a 5 min struggle, and about 20-30' out from shore, so couldn't tell how big the snake was. Guessing it wasn't TOO big as it couldn't fit the whole fish in its mouth at one time. It gave a fight though....lots of splashing and jumping around....then the snake won. But yikes...this was on the surface of the water....that is why I get a bit scared being in the kayak on that lake! Who knows how many snakes are in there, and what types. Oh well, that was my "eecckkkk" moment yesterday!

NM, she is a vegetarian! So I don't think she will be shooting the deer. Besides, she said she couldn't do that, nor could I. I am not a vegetarian, but couldn't shoot a deer. Now the other smaller critters..........I DO NOT have a problem with!

Looking at the leaves of the Autumn Joy Kathy, seems we are talking the same plant. The ones that are not doing so well are ones in containers and baskets.

Junie, you're lookin good up der on dat camel woman! Lovin your twist on the Mexican BLT! I use the Panko Breadcrumbs when I do a chicken parmesan, but I make my own pankos!

DorK, I think you should give Stella another chance. Perhaps we could let her work here, witht the other wenches?

Astorm, grout bag? Pre-mixed and you squeeze it out like cake frosting? We mixed our grout in a pan, and used a sponge to brush it in.

Stanzie, there are all kinds of Sedums. The one Kathy posted is tall, there are low growing ones that look good in rocks. I had some of those as well in MI. Be careful tho, as they can spread like crazy and take over! Biting moths? I would say no, but what do I know! How nice of your friend to do that, but you know what....I would do the exact same thing. When we stay at my MIL's house, I always clean up and put new sheets on the beds, etc. My gosh, that is the right thing to do. So glad you don't have all of that extra cleaning to do. How funny you recognized that person in the cartoon!

Beans, how could you possibly be having so much fun in those terrible living conditions? I just don't believe it, you are making it up. LOL! And you and DorK quit hoggin the bottle.

Chrissy, would be more fun to make some noise and get to splashin!

LOL @ Kathy and schlepping on the grout! Sounds like Chrissy talk.

Ok, must get off me butt and go help DH, he has been outside working since 5am!

    Jumping into the PEWL............~~ SplASh~~

You make your own panko? How do you get them so crispy crunchy and tiny without turning to mush?

Well, not you cannot shoot a deer! Remember Bambi!

Grout, grout, grout!!! Well, the mortar guy who fixed ALL the grout around the pool apparently his guys dumped all the heavy left overs in my trash can who the trash men refused to pick up and I can't even lift it out! Also he showed me how there is this haze over all the stones which will need to be pressure washed but Without getting the pressure washer on the grout! What a lovely challenge!

So he said he will come back next week and remove the stuff from my trash. But in the meantime cleaning up in my Den ( newly refinished floors from last summer's flood! ) well there is a haze on the floors! Well, I can't pressure wash them! Ugh!

I vote Yes for Stella to come and work at the HTL! I know why DorK doesn't want her to come and fired her..... she knows all DorK's secrets! Yep that is the reason.... but hey how bad can they really be and anyway after a few sips of the DOTD who remembers what anyone said anyway!

Chrissy, Oh my is that you? Still here snoozing with that bottle in hand, I guess you did figure out how to get it away from Kathy.... by saying - Oh look doesn't that need painting or fixing or can you check out the wobble on that table.... LOL!!! I'm cracking myself up. Kathy, you know we so adore you and admire all your skills - well, its just that you have soooooo many skills can't you share a few with the inept, namely ME!

Oh, forgot, Kathy I guess you will NOT be adding snake wrangler to your lists of skills. Well, I wouldn't either. So are there poisonous snakes in the lake even though not sure if I'd care if it was poisonous or not! Well, when I was out in the ocean on the Kayak apparently scared my kids out of their wits as I went out really far. It obviously didn't seem that way to me. But I was following dolphins who had a baby and they were letting me go with them and get really close, they seemed to like me so I kept going. Now I have a huge fear of the ocean and going out to far but somehow that crazy Kayak made me feel invincible. Now that I think back, it is pretty scary to even think about as the sea was really rough that day as well. I guess sometimes we don't outgrow stupid. Be careful of those snakes, you don't tip over do you?>

Wow Kymn, That is GAWGEOUS!!! You and Beans have such nice RV's!!! Love all the floor space....does it come with that tv also? Nice appliances too. So glad for you! I was thinking about you today and wondering how you were doing, cause it seems like ages since we heard from you. You must've sensed I was worried.....cause here you are! YAY!!!

Stanzie, You are right....no snake wrangling for this girl. Yes, I have heard there are cottonmouth snakes in the lake (they are quite poisonous) and they are aggressive. I DO NOT want to tip over, no maam!!! How awesome you got to be with the dolphins! Too cool. I was reading an article that came yesterday about how to survive different disasters. And it said if a tsunami is coming and you are in the water in a kayak, boat, etc.....if you don't have time to get to safety, to go waaaay out, as then you just deal with the swells, and won't be slammed into stuff onshore. So see, if a tsunami had come up, you would have been safe....LOL. I know, we used to swim waaaay out in the ocean, past the breakwaters, alone, when we were kids. Now they find sharks there! I still like the ocean better than this lake, though. Apparently they didn't clean the tiles like they should have. But a haze on your inside flooring also? Hope that will come off.

Well, I need a strong dwink, or two, or I will take the cue from DorK and Beans, and just grab the entire bottle! Spent so many hours getting the grout out of just an area about 16"x72"...platform below jacuzzi. Darn that grout is hard to get out! I did end up making about 4 small chips...oh well, did the best i could. Back is killing me!!! Then I saw some grout missing on the floor area too....geez this is getting to be a big job. BUT since it is so labor intensive, I still feel that instead of hiring someone to redo it, I would just have them tear it up and put new tiles down. Would be quicker! But will see if I can limp it along first.

LOL Lori, Did you think I said "schlepping" instead of "slipping" or something.....like a dwunk Chrissy? I meant like slapping the grout on the tiles...don't know why "schlepping" came to mind...I never say that in the real world!!!  I am wondering about Gail's "grout bag" too....if that is easier, we need to know about it, Only tileing I have done before, is my late DH and I did all the kitchen countertops in our house at the time, cook island included. It turned out nice. Then I just did some mural type tiles on a board. Thats it! YOU did so much more!!! I would like to find some nice cheap pottery to break, or already broken and put pieces all over one of our bird baths. I saw a pic of that and it looked neat. I think it was in blues/whites like the portuguese pottery.

Hope everyone is staying COOL today...boy is it ever hot.Aren't we due for another BIG PARTAY????

    Hugs,

    Kathy

    Happy Saturday my lovies,

OMG, I slept until 3:30PM today. Not a nap but sleep, total sleep. I was up very late last night. My DH/SO or whateve he be, was freaked out as he could not find me. He was emailing, calling and texting asking "where are you, sleeping or at work"? Well I responded that I was dreaming of working while sleeping.

So I will be happy to release Stella as a Wench for the HTL. Makes sense. I thought alot about it and after reading that our own Chrissy had to make drinks, I figured we could use some help. But for the record, Stella is a compulsive liar so anything she says about me is prolly not true.

Kymn, I checked the link and oh my, I just shake my head in envy, congrats on the new trailer. I have told ya girls before that i did alot of camping in my childhood years. We used to take off for 8 weeks at a time and explore the country. We started with a pop-up and ended up with a much larger Moniter Trailor, it had a bunk room, bathroom, kitchen table which turned into a bed. I am so amazed at how glamourous they make them these days. I had no idea until Beanie reeled me in. I would LOVE having a trailer. My issue is that DH is not into that at all. Anyway, a super congrats to you. If you ever cross the border, lemme know and I would love to camp out just one night.

NM, always miss you on the weekend. Hope yours is not tooooo hectic.

Kathy, i love the word schlepping, I knew exactly what you were saying.  You and many of the gals here are so energetic, I am envious. I hope your back feels better, perhaps a rest from schlepping would do some good. When is your mom coming? Sawry, I prolly missed it,

Lori, I saw the news coverage of the sand storms in Phoenix.  But your pics were pheonominal.  I hope you and DH had a good day working on your pro-yecto!  I am curious, you talk about having neighbors yet I know you are very isolated from society. How many neighbors do you have, more than 2? Sorry to be nosey, I find where you live and how you live interesting. You talk of having your own power grid, it is so different from where I live.

Chrissy, I was shocked when I heard that you, Jeanie and I polished off six bottles. Sorry to the other loungettes for gettinig a bit obnoxious. I did not mean to laugh again at Claire's lil mishap.

Claire, the lounge is not the same without you, hoping you are enjoying your ride.

Stanzie, I can relate with you in so many ways.  First, I am deeply mourning the loss of my Mocha dog. I was caressing a photo last niight and feeling the soft fur and petting between his eyes on his forehead. It just hurts. I talked with my DD about our loss today and she is also feelig the pain.  And like you, I have issues with just getting moving. But I do not have a valid excuse. With having MS, it must be so difficult . And I also allow people to walk on me because they know they can. Not everyone but mostly my family.  I hope that you are feeling alright after the mishap with SO (or shall I say SOB)? Really, I feel your pain and understand.  I hope you do not take this the wrong way, just saying I feel your pain and can relate to your life in so many ways.

Gail, you cracked me up about your WD and ringing the door bell My girls are smart to a point but could never learn that one.

I have not finished here yet but thought I just thought I lost this post...I will hit send. Then return in a bit to finish my rant about life, love, joy and sorrow. I hope each of you is feeling peaceful.

Stella, rounds for all my girls.  And some munchies too, pleeeeeze?

CheErs, rears and no FeaRs! I dig you girls, clink clink!!

Kymn--cool camper!!!!   Sometimes it is hard to remember how terrific some campers can be these days.   Looks like a terrific place to have some terrific times!    Waaaaaaay back, my first experiences with camping was to wrap up in a blanket with a pillow in the back seat of the car (get yo minds outta the gutter!   DH at that time took the front seat!)   Then, we graduated to sleeping bags on those cheapie fold-down lawn chairs.    So much nicer sleeping than in the car!  THEN--OMG we bought a tent and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven!     We usually camped with a group of friends and did float trips.   We were usually out in the middle of no where with no elec, running water, etc. Primitive, at best.    And, I always had a great time--until one time we took our 2 yr-old dau camping for her first time....and it stormed and poured.    We were in a campground that had  cement bathroom.....and, you haven't lived until you've spent the night sitting on a wet sleeping bag in a cement bathroom and listening to your little kids' terrified screams echoing off the walls!!!   Fast forward--kids grown, new relationship--new friends and more float trips; but in civilized campgrounds and slept in an older pop-up camper that new DH had.   Such an improvement over tent camping!!!     We finally bought a new pop-up camper that had A/C, heat; lights; could hook sink up to running water and wash dishes, etc; had a concealed porta-pot--it was soooo neat and we had such fun with that camper.    s  i  g  h  ........just the other night we sat and talked about our fun in/with that camper!   We weren't drunk by any means, but were getting close because we started talking about "wouldn't it be fun to camp out again......"  and, THANK GOD--something fired in my fried brain--ROOM SERVICE    ROOM SERVICE   CLEAN SHEETS/TOWELS     NO COOKING........     LOL!!! Have only  fond memories of my camping days.   Think you will enjoy your new camper for a loooong time,Kymn!

Hey, loungies--don't worry--I'm not grabbing a blanket and going to sleep in the back yard tonight!!!!

Wahine--think the Panko crumbs will work great on those chicken breasts; in fact, going to play around with chicken tomorrow.   Lori, I have your make the Panko bread crumbs recipe but hoping my dau can keep me supplied or eventually find them somewhere locally.   We've asked in two stores and no one has ever heard of them!

Wow--I can't believe how HOT it has been here!  Over 100 every day and temps this coming week are predicted to break all records!!  Just to step outside drains all the energy right out of me.  I know this is unusual, but still makes me wonder why Mom Nature is on the rampage this year!!!  Y'all stay cool/warm....heading out to the pool just as soon as Jocks ices down my dog beers.   And, welcome, Stella--be careful what you say about DorK--we all know better!  Do not trash talk her or you'll get kicked out of the HTL!!!

    huggsss and chuggggsssssss to ALL!!!!

    Good Sunday Morning Loungettes!

So nice to get long  posts from DorK and Junie! YAY!!!! Junie, as usual, LOVE your recollections from the past....always such fun! When I was a kid, all 5 of us would go primitive camping on a wooded bluff over a huge resovoir (looked like a lake and was called a lake, but we never swam in it cause of the huge intake at one end). Had to go thru pineapple fields to get to it (w/ no street signs, of course...somehow my dad knew which  rows to turn at!). Way in the middle of nowhere, but NOW full of houses overlooking the water! BUt that was when your tents were FLAT w/ no bottoms, and you had to use the poles and then stakes around the sides. When it would pour, we would all be drenched even though we would all make little trenches around our tents! When I was in the National Guard and had regular army basic training, for bivouac we each had "half" a flat tent and had to find someone with the matching other half! (Did I ever tell you how I nearly broke my leg running, hiding from the drill sgt late at night? Thats another story.). LIke Junie, my late DH and I got a really nice popup camper w/ running water, small shower, etc. Really nice. We only got to use it 3-4 times but those were such special times. Bought a large tent, ect about 15 yrs ago and used it ONCE! Ok....sounding like Junie...."Room Service, Nice Beds, A/C!!!"

DorK, I think your energy will return...you still have been going through so many surgeries, and I think you are on some tx(?), and working so darn many hours right now!!! Also, I do use the sublingual vit B12 every day, and I do think that helps. I would actually do more, but my DH likes to sit around, and it is REALLY hard to get motivated when someone else is being a couch potato!!! When he is away I do soooo much more! I also like to learn new things, and that keeps it more fun. Just need to start really exercising more, as my joints are really stiff and have much less range of motion. Nice of you to let us add Stella to the HTL.  Oh, you asked when my mom is coming....she leaves tomorrow and gets here early Tues morning! I need to make sure she rests, so she will feel like doing that painting class with me. Same place we went last time, where you take wine(!), but I think this instructor will be better....hope so at least. Still need to call the stained glass owner....not looking forward to that...I'm chicken.

OK, today will try the grout in that bathroom....wish me luck! Oh Stanzie, you keep mentioning that you want to be able to do more things. Nowadays with the internet how-to info, and videos, plus books at the library, you could learn to do almost anything! I know you have the smarts and have so many talents, that it would be easy for you. ALso, Home Depot has some free classes, like simple electrical repairs, tile, etc. They even have qrtly classes for women! Here is a link to upcoming ones.. http://www.homeimproverclub.com/default.aspx?Type=3   After I lost my DH is when I learned how to use his power tools, and then built the deck, hundreds of feet of privacy fencing (on our farm in the woods), drive gates, walk gates, etc. When I moved, a friend's husband taught me how to change electical outlets/switches as well as ceiling fixtures. So I did all that, plus installed several ceiling fans (I think Gail does all this too!). YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU SET YOUR MIND TO!!!! I really believe that. Go for it, girlfriend!

Ummmmmm....boy the Sunday Buffet looks MAHVELOUS! I may even use 2 plates....lol. Plus going to the mimosa (or is it bellini?) fountain for some bubbly w/ peach schnapps. Oh, an Irish Coffee would be nice too. Stella you read my mind, how sweet of you to bring that to me! Indulge!!!

    Ciao,

    Kathy

Mitch, you are cracking me us as well! I usually use soda crackers for my panko, I haven't tried bread yet. You can find recipes online. The one with crackers is super easy. Crush, mix in the spices and bake. What a bummer about all the haze and then those idiots putting all of that in your trash. Phbbt..........some people! As for you floor, is it wood? Did you use a new cleaner on it? OMG, you yakked with dolphings? Now HOW COOL IS THAT!

Kymn, that was not the "S" word I word I heard come out of your mouth, was it! Your camper is beautiful! So does this mean you and DH are back ON? Please don't stay away camping too long and forget about us.

Kathy, you said SCHLEPPING! Page 531 second to last post! "Gail, Hope you can relax today, since you did all that grout yesterday! I have never used a "grout bag"...is it better than schlepping it on there?" See, even DorK heard you! I have seen/heard of the busted up plates and such to be used as tiles on different things, on a garden forum. They go to thrift stores and garage sales and such to get the porcelin dishes. You could try a small table to start with?

Good morning DorK! You too are cracking me up this morning, about Stella being a liar and feeling bad that Chrissy had to make drinks. But OH MY, you definitely have been doing too much! Sleeping until after 3 in the afternoon? What we have out here are 40 acre parcels (we own 2), most of the neighbors are just weekenders, but my closest neighbor, the 70 yo lady lives here full time on the 40 acre pc next to ours. We are both on far ends of our lots, so seems as though she is even further away. The pictures of the dust storm were just pulled from the internet, I did not take them! BTW, you never told us your dream.

Hey Junie! Good thing you sent Stella straight! We all did the camping thing too, but was always a tent. Our big upgrade was a queen size blow up bed!

Well let's see, I have Darrell's daughter and her family, along with her MIL coming to my house Tuesday evening. Kids are here visiting from CA. But they are staying in Phx Monday night, so who knows what time they will come rolling in here. I told them dinner was at 4 (Senior Citizen Time, that cracks me up) and I will be shocked if they get here before 6. Then they leave Wed and so do we. We have doctor appts. Wed afternoon and after we are done with that, we are heading to Laughlin to "get away". Then Friday or Saturday, I forget which, the kids are meeting up with us again, in Laughlin, on their way home. I told DH, NO WAY am I babysitting so they can go play.

How about a "Purple Haze" cocktail. I think we might have had it before, but hey, what the heck!

1 oz. freshly squeezed pomegranate juice*1 1/2 oz. Hpnotiq®  1 1/2 oz. pineapple juice orange rind and apple slice for garnish

Combine all ingredients in cocktail shaker over ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with orange rind and apple slice.

Lori, You are very welcome. Hope it has all the goodies that you like! Ohhhhh that Purple Haze looks so purty Lori!! I'll try one....or two..or... LOL. OK, I sent the ML truck that is usually needed at Junie's house, over to your house. SO, it can stay parked out front, and you can dwink as needed....sounds like a LOT will be needed over the next few days! Good luck with all that company, and hope everything works out to not be toooooo stressful. Yeah, I know I said "schlepping" (or however i spelled it!), but I thought you took it as a different meaning. My bad....can't say sawrry, but you know I didn't mean any confusion! Thanks for reminding DorK to tell us about her dweam....after all, some of us were in it, and we do deserve to know...right? OK DorK.....spill the beans! NO, not "our" beans, but....well you know what I mean..... Thanks for letting us know how you make panko.....would not have thought of doing that! Try to stay cool today!!!! Kath

    Good morning girls,

I am writiing from work. I took yesterday off so am paying the price today.

Lori, glad you were entertained by Stella. thanks for clarifying about your land.

The dream I had - the four of you (Lori, Kathy, Stanzie and Gail) showed up for a visit at my house. The weird part is that it was actually the house I grew up in but it was mine in my dream.  My parents were wandering around and I was mad at them because i worried you girls would think I lived with Mommy.  Anyway, I was frazzled when you are showed up early and could not remember who was who. I was also upset that my house was a mess so I started helping my sister, my cleaning lady in real life, clean up. She then said I should get back to my guests. I tried finding you gals but could not until I went in my backyard and found you all swimming in my neighbors pool. I was freaked that my neighbor would be mad so I tip toed over and the neighbor (who does not exist in real life) came out, mind you, I had never seen here before and everyone feared her. She comes out and says in broken english, thank you for bringing your friends over. I then told her I had food and we all dined in her yard. I had an attitude because I wanted you girls to hang at my house and you seemed to like my neighbor and her house better than me and my house.  Pretty much sums it up.

Kathy, I bet you can't wait to have your Mom in your hands. I feel bad for you and pray that Mom improves.

Kymn and Beans, still feeling camper envy. Darn, I could sell my house and live in one of those bad boys.  I often think about running away from life here, that would be the way to go.

Ok,I best do what I came here to do, work. Ughh, it is soooo beautiful outside, at least I have a fab view.

I plan on being outta here by 2pm, just got one loan into closing status, whewwww hooooooo, it was a rough one.

Love you girls and to those I did not address, I love you too.  Peace to each of you and pleeeze, drink a few for me!!!

    CheARS!

eeew, Kathy. I hate snakes! I'm going to check out that link. Mostly I get advice from clients (I work with contractors) but they forget to tell me minor details, like which side of the tile is up when you use the saw and I end up having to google.

Ok, the grout had to be mixed but then you put it in a bag that looks like a cake decorator's bag except it is too big for human hands (or at least too large for a woman's hands). Then you have to work fast because the grout dries and gets too thick and you can't get it our of the bag. Wish they made grout in a tube but I haven't seen that! Maybe I'll invent a grout gun for women and make a million dollars! Anyway I still need to touch up the paint around the area and seal the tiles... DH made me mad complaining about the cats so I left him at home yesterday and spent the entire day reading and shopping but now I need to finish the project as we are leaving for the ILs tomorrow AM.

Kymn - congrats on the travel trailer.

DorK - WD uses his nose to ring the bell. It is so cute! The corgi still barks at the door but at least no one is scratching the paint off the door anymore. I'm not big on teaching dogs to do tricks but I did teach WD to sit and stay on command (so he doesn't fly out the door everytime it opens) and he is housebroken so I think I've done my civic duty. I have a cat that talks to me... and comes when I call him but I can't get him to stay off the keyboard... and the corgi walks on a leash like she's in the show ring but I can' get her to stop chasing the cats. OMG, your dream! That is soooo funny. I wonder what itr all means? We are infiltrating your dreams and taking over your neighbor's pool. LOL. Sounds like we really made ourselves at home!

Lori - sounds like you are running a little resort! Hope you enjoy all those visitors. If not you could take them over to DorK's/parents' neighbor's house. Thanks for the Purple Haze... I'm all over that!

nice trailer, Kymn! One of our neighbors has one like that and they use it a lot.
