Lago, I hope all went well today. Let us know!

My kids are trying to talk me into an ipad. Still not sure.
Lago...thanks for the l carnitine info, along with the neuropathy link. Sorry to read about your nail issues.
Jenn...what a nice gift. A driver! Have fun. Glad t read that you went to a show with your friends.
Rene...the first time I had and EMG done, I asked the doctor, "Who invented this?" He said, "Hitler". It is a barbaric test. p.s. I know nothing about cats.
Zap...I loaned my copy of The Book Thief to my DIL; haven't read it yet, but looking forward to it.
TeamNana...your turban turtleneck sounds like a great idea.
Hello to everyone...have great days!

Just a quick "drive by" I think the interview went OK. It was only 30 minutes and there were 3 of us. We all seemed like pretty good candidates but they did say they had more than one position. Of course talking about being a game designer really got them excited. I should know if I go to the next step by Friday.
Makmak Hope your appointments went well. I know it's a big place but the doctors themselves are really personable once you get to know them. Also once you've been coming there for a bit they do remember you.

"Hello to everyone...have great days!"
Ditto Maryj. (c: I have been away researching a different reconstruction and my brain hurts! I have cancelled my exchange for 9/1 and scheduled surgery in NOLA 12/6.
Lago- good luck on your interviews!
Re neuropathy and lovely fingers and toes- ice toes and fingers during infusion. L-acetyl carnatine and L-glutamine.
Scarves- just tie it in a big ole bow at the back of your head! Or twist it, wrap it around and tie it in a knot. Easy peasy. Lago and I were the pirates. (c: BTW Lago I have my gold and silver copy cat earrings, 90 degrees.
Mak- hope today at Rush was totally worthwhile. My aunt will be there Thursday for a second opinion.
Hi onward!
Warm thoughts to all!

Port came out today. That was the easiest "surgery" I have ever had. One more step to check off on the list!

Running late today.....busy, but more so here at home. Such interesting thoughts, ideas and conversations. I will be checking back late....though it is late -- almost 5 p.m. now. See you then.
Hugs, Jackie

Well we are on our way home.. What a long day but the Dr did have some more treatment ideas though she did say that I will be on some form of chemo from now on.. Liked the port surgeon as well.... Once treatment plan is decided on Friday will know better if I need it now.. No fun...:(

Makmak.....such a long day for you. Is this a second opinion or is this a move to more sophisticated care? Where do you get your leads on treatments and places (like Florida)? You are such an organized and informed warrior. I am glad you can now go home and rest.

Hugs makmak!
Yea Lisa.....no more port! Doesn't that feel good?
Lago...glad the interview went well!
Wow Rene! I don't know what would cause your cats to become so antagonistic toward each other after all this time. We had a terrible time with our one-year-old cat accepting the new kitten but now they seem to be best friends. The older one even gets the little one down and licks her from head to foot, just like a mama cat would do. I think that maybe you should keep them apart for a few more days and gradually let them get back together when you are around to supervise. What we won't do for our fur babies!
So how did the golf game go today, Joan? It was a lovely day for golf in our area!
Well, I'm tired and my book is calling. I'll catch you all tomorrow afternoon.

Hello to everyone. I just wanted to pop in and mention that I have been using Dr. Oz's recommendation for getting better sleep.... "tart cherry juice". Anyone try that before? Supposedly it is a great source of natural Melatonin. I think it really does work. I have been sleeping great. Found some at Trader Joe's first, but noticed that Jewel also carries a concentrate that you can mix with water. I am going to shop for tart cherry juice capsules so I can use it without the added calories in juice form.
Makmak... sounds like you will soon have a chemo plan. Let us know what you will be doing. Hopefully, you can keep your hair this time. Lisa... congratulations on your deportmant!
Golf was fun this afternoon. What a beautiful day for it. I hope that I can get in another round before it heats up again. Rita... sometime we will have to get in a round together.

Lisa...yeah for the port removal...although mine served me well..I was so anxious to be done with it!
Makmak...good luck with next treatment plan...
Joan..what an interesting possibility..I love anything cherry so I will have to check that out.
Nite all...wishing everyone a great tomorrow!

Just chiming in on the neuropathy subject. I think it took me a good 6 months to a year before my neuropathy went away. I was very careful during treatment to wear comfortable shoes. The heals stayed in the closet until after it went away unless absolutely necessary. Hoping those still suffering just need a little more time. Although I would suggest when in treatment you ate very honest with your doctor about the neuropathy. I had to have a reduction in Chemo on one drug when I was unable to button buttons and do some of the finer motor skills.
Happy Wednesday!0 -
Morning! 59 on my deck...chilly but great for sleeping, if I didn't wake up at 4! Tart cherry juice I have seen at Jewel as well but really expensive. I take melatonin when I think I might need it but should have last night....
Mak...indeed a long day for you but I am glad you liked your doctors. When you have your plan in place you know that will help. Please keep us informed and I too wonder where you got your FL tip. Prayers out for you always...
WendyTY...you spell just fine, it's just that those keys on your computer are so small! That's my reason and I am sticking to it! I take it another bad sleep night for you??
MadJenn....how was the concert? My niece reported in on FB...said it was amazing!
Lago...interview sounds like it when pretty good! Fingers crossed!!!!
Rene....I know nothing about cats...but that sure is strange!
Lisa...port gone! And it was a fast surgery wasn't it! I was so sore tho afterward and for about a week....but I was certainly in the minority for that...I'm sure you are feeling great.
Everyone else....happy days!0 -
You guys are not going to believe this but I had a message on my machine when I got home (at 7pm) from job #1. They want an answer! I'm surprised because when I sent them an email asking for more time no one responded. I thought they just moved on to the next candidate. Something tells me they are having trouble filling these positions. Hmmm I wonder why. Nights/weekends and no benefits (29 hours) and no bonus/commission. Position has no opportunity to go full-time. When asked they there were other jobs at Apple I could apply to for full-time. There is no way they are going to wait so hopefully I can put this to rest today.

Does it require a contract? Would you be able to take this position while waiting/looking for others that are more in line with what you are looking for? If they are having a hard time filling it, then they must be expecting a high turn-over rate for positions posted similar to this. Or as you stated, get in the door and apply for other openings within Apple?

Good morning ladies....WOW everyone has been chatty!!!

YAY Lisa for no more port!!! That's got to feel fantastic!
I think I irritated mine last night singing (badly) with my daughter at T.Swift. Is that possible because it is very noticeable this morning, Hmmm???
Lago....sounds like the interview went well!!! Fingers crossed for you!
Mak...Rush is very overwhelming at first I think, and the reception people on the 10th floor are kinda clueless a lot.... But I love my onc. (same one as Lago). I know my way around that place fairly well now so it gets better. I hope everything gets put into place soon for you, I'm sorry it involves chemo!
Joan....tart cherry juice huh??? I might try that? Is it by the lemon juice or more by the bottles of big juice at stores?? I'm willing to try just about anything if it means more sleep.....
Rene....I know nothing about cats either but definitely weird???? Is there a cat whisperer you can call?? I wonder why they would start doing that?
Adey....I think you and Lago should teach a scarve tying class? :0). I'll attend and buy the margaritas.... Well for you two anyways!
Mary...I LOOOOVE my i pad!!! You'll be hooked in about 5 minutes....
I have a feeling between the kindle app, the Netflix and this forum it's going to a great distraction with my upcoming chemo.
WendyTY.... I hope you find a way to get some sleep..... I know exactly how you feel, the 4am crap needs to go.
Jenn S....thanks for all this links!!! That 5 mile one I can definitely handle, I think about 10 in one day is it for my knee, and this was pre BC condition on the rest of my body, UGH!!! My whole family wants to do the Relay for Life next year at our local triple A baseball stadium next year.... That sounds fun. And my good friend that's a hairstylist does pink extensions and donates so much to BC from each one....he has fundraisers all the time around the area....I'm going to help him too. I'm trying to find something in my area to help newly diagnosed women, preferably under 45 (like me) that I can offer to talk to, meet with, whatever they need to give them a little comfort. I was so terrified and just walked in a daze for so long, not knowing what was coming at me next. I would have loved to have someone that had been there before, just to talk and ask a million questions to. Who knows???
The concert was incredible....she really puts on a great show. My daughter is still sound asleep and she's an early riser!!!
we really had a fabulous time and the car was a blessing at 11:00 at night.... It's the nights like those that make me want to kick the you know what out of my cancer!!! I want many more memorable nights with my daughter!!!!! I even started to tear up a couple times overwhelmed with the sounds and hearing her little 8 year old voice singing every word at the top of her lungs. It was a great night.
Today is downtown for my Muga and my chemo training...... Off to see the wizard later!!!!
Everyone have wonderful days!!!!!!!! :0)0 -
Good luck with job#1 decision making today.... They seem pretty anxious??? Like everyone here said....go with your gut!!!!

CorinneM1 the other job I'm going for is for Apple! It would look good to accept then quit so quickly in the same company.
MadMom MakMak saw our onc (also the same as several others here). Now you know why she liked her.

Makmak...hope you were able to get home and rest.
Lisa...glad the port is gone. Progress!
Lago...glad the interview went well. Tough decisions to make..
Joan...tart cherry juice eh? Not cherry pie? Let us know if you find a non calorie form (pill). I could use that.
Jenn...I'm so glad you and dd had such a great time. Wonderful memories! Good luck on your appointments today.
My Washington DC bound daughter left yesterday; along with hubbie and another one of my daughters. They loaded a (rented) 15 seat passenger van (back seats removed) and headed out. She's quite apprehensive, but also excited. It's weird being by myself. DH, being a farmer, is usually in and out throughout the day; and always here for meals. So far, I am enjoying this!
I have phone calls to return today. I hate that job, I don't know why. Isn't this weather great? Have a great day! 0 -
What a gorgeous day here in Central Illinois! I played 18 holes of golf and didn't sweat one bit! Now I'm off to organize some of our Fall group activities....bowling and bunco. I just can't believe that summer is rapidly escaping us!
I hope everyone is having a good day and has been able to enjoy some of these milder temps!

Adey, I am with you and Rita -- enjoying a beauty of a day so far. Very cool this a.m. We are coming up on Balloon Fest which is usually quite hot, but maybe this yr. will be nicer. Sure hope so. We like to go the first day/evening as they have the fireworks which are usually quite nice. Had enough rain this yr. so far that the grass in the yard is not too frazzled yet, but you can look at the trees and know that the majority of summer is past. I'm sure I'll continue to think.....where did it go?
Hope you all have a fantastic day.
Hugs, Jackie

Hey chemo gals. (c: I heard about this and thought I would pass it on. I didn't use it myself as I learned about it to late. So no first hand experience.

Jackie....when is the balloon fest...we went about 3 years ago and it was really neat.
It is georgeous here as well!
Wishing everyone a great day!
