MadMom I do hear at times insurance will refuse to pay for nuelasta but you can fight that. I had to have mine shipped to my home… which was OK because my husband gave it to me anyway.
Hi Timbuktu
Happy Birthday Char

Laura, you have good ideas.....hope someone gets a "meet" & "eat" going real soon.
Rene'.....what a great explanation of the meds for osteopenia/osteoporosis.
Timbuktu --- welcome to you.
Lago I'm Adey's echo. Get well.
JS/Jenn.....glad you got your results. We are always having to settle for something and try to be thrilled that it isn't the beast. You do get used to it, sort of.
Wendy. sounds like yucky weather ( more rain ) up Chicago way. We may even get some later. Still going to be toasty here no matter what.
See you all later.
Hugs, Jackie

Good rainy morning to all!!
Today both my kids are back in school.. with DS starting High School this year..
thank goodness I still have Gab or I'd be a very sad Mommy right now.. though that one is chatting up a storm these days.. they just grow so fast.. and time just flies on by...I'm feeling much better.. as of course tomorrow the cycle starts all over with the next treatment.. Am a bit aprehensive as I decided NOT to get Decadron and will be switching my nausea med... I did have that one with Taxol so at least I know I'm not allergic.. just hoping for less nausea.. took almost 3 days to get better.. Ventured out for an hour yesterday and got super dizzy.. going to lunch today.. hopefully will be OK.. but SUSHI is calling my name..

Welcome to Timbuktu.. I grew up not too far from Skokie..
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHAR!!!
Well.. just downloaded a book 'just in case' the power goes out...
rainy days are very calming to me as long as there is no huge booming noises.. Marina

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHAR! Lots of good people were born in August!

makmak...Hope that lunch went well!
Welcome Timbuktu! There are many awesome women on this site.
Well ladies, I have to tell you that breakfast with Jackie on Sunday was awesome. We could have talked all day, I think, but of course I had to move on down the road. She looks SO GOOD! It was a super way to start my southern trip! Thanks so much for meeting me, Jackie. We'll have to do it again.....and not wait 3 years to get it accomplished!
The little guys are keeping me busy but it is a good busy! I will try to get caught up with all your posts during nap times, but today I opted for a nice hot shower and hair wash instead of the computer! I must admit that it was a good choice!

Lago...glad you are feeling better.
mdg...It's official now! You are an Illinois gal. Welcome!
Susan, are you still enjoying the book, The Forgotten Garden? A couple of my friends have gone to see the movie, "The Help" and they said it was wonderful. Anyone here seen it? I'm going to try to get to it when I get back.
More later as time permits....Hugs to all of you.
Rita

If a tornado is spotted in the Chicago area, please head directly to Soldier Field.
Chances of a touchdown there is unlikely!

Dammit. Interview cancelled. They hired the person they interviewed yesterday. 2nd time this happened this month.

Quick hi to everyone.....
Makmak -- good luck today! Lago -- Keep hanging in there, you'll find the right position.
Connie and Adey -- I'm with you guys on the back to school bandwagon. My oldest started high school today, and I'm both excited for her and sad..... Of course last night her ortho dr, told her she has to give up either cheer or tennis, trying to do both has caused a nasty case of tendonitis, she is quite upset, doesn't want to give up either, and I can't blame her.......
Three schools this year... high school, middle school, and grade school..... busy busy morning, and going to be a busy year, straddling three schools!

Thinking of you today, makmak, as you once again head off to treatment. Hugs!
Laura, thanks for updating the list and adding my cell.
As I read about all of you who have youngsters going back to school this week, I must tell you that I have the utmost respect for you. What a hectic time of year! I find it a challenge to get my grandsons' lunches packed, and get them out the door in time to meet the bus. Then the second grader has homework every night. Wow! Things have certainly changed. I don't know how you do it, and some of you hold down jobs outside the house. My hat goes off to you. My energy level begins to sag about 4:00...just in time to monitor the homework and start thinking about cooking a meal. Whew! I'll be a zombie by the end of the week! LOL
lago, when one door closes, another opens. There is a job that's a perfect match for you just waiting around the corner! Hang in there.
WendyTY, I hope you're having a good day!
I'm off to make some jello for dinner. Have a great day! More later...........
Rita

These doors are opening and shutting so fast it's confusing. Looks like I might start a 2 week freelance gig Monday if they can deal with the few doctor appointments I set up next week. It wouldn't be such a big deal except one is right in the middle of the day… the dermatologist for the rash on my legs. It's much lighter but not gone yet. I hate to cancel it because they really fit me in. Of course if it's gone I will cancel it.
I've already applied to 8 jobs today. Granted I don't think I'll hear from any of these. I usually know when it's a good match.

My, I have gotten behind with all the news here. Been crazy busy with work and trying to get myself ready for a couple trips. Char... sorry I missed your birthday. Hope it was a good one. Makmak... hope the Gemzar gods go easy on you this time. Welcome to the new gals. LauraGTO... must be time to get together again for lunch to meet everyone again. Welcome home to Lago... sounds like you had a fun vacation. Wendyty... how are you doing? Lisa... your kids certainly do keep you hopping. I guess I used to do all that, now, it takes two of us to keep up one 7-year old granddaughter! Speaking of which, Rita... how is the babysitting going this week?
I've spent a good bit of time with LE PT the past couple weeks. My PT wanted to get me in good shape for travel plans. A few days of wrappings, lots of exercises, new style compression sleeve and gauntlet and also a Capresia night sleeve. It has all helped alot though and I managed to figure out what was aggravating the whole LE issue for me so I am doing great with it now.
Will be off to Seattle tomorrow to visit our DD and family. Have a family wedding to go to there on Friday evening and then heading up to Camano Island for the rest of the weekend for some R&R where my DH will be serioulsy comtemplating retiring at the end of this month. Whatever he decides is fine with me. It would certainly simplify our lives if he did. The mass retirements with the airline right now is a very complicated and contentious issue between pilots and the management which is really coming to a head this week. I will just be glad when Aug 31st comes and goes and decisions are made!
Hope everyone is staying cool today... yucky humidity. Hated turning the A/C back on but gave up this noon. Try to catch up with everyone at next lunch.

Well had the roughest day to date!!! Started with a headache this morning.. Then I got my blood work and my white count decreased by more than half!!! So I freaked and fainted!! All this before chemo!! Finally got chemo but so nauseous I barely got home. Took compazine and was better until I tried to eat.. Back in bed...
So worried about my whites as gab is in daycare coming home with who knows what and the thought of not being able to be around her is making me sick.. I can't pull her out as she gets so much stimulation there that I am unable to provide.. Thus the anxiety and fainting...0 -
Makmak you need to get a break. Are they considering doing nuelasta or did you decide against that. 0 -
mak - DAMN...hugs to you! If you need anything, please let me know. Hang in there...

Mak I just wanted to let you know I am thinking about you and saying a prayer that you feel better.
Lago...saying a job prayer for you too!0 -
My whites are still within normal today... They will see what they do next week and how they recover before doing anything.. Apparently the platelets are what will drop and those are slow to recover.. Just bought Chinese herbal stuff but it will take a week or more to get here... So as soon as I'm able to eat will do what I can for that...
Just took an Ativan for the nausea... Hopefully it'll help...
Thanks all for your kind words... Sorry I'm such a naggy needy one today.... Will take my Decadron like a good girl next time!!0
