Welcome stjude.  Glad you found this great group of ladies... most have "been there, done that" and at so many various stages of this battle with the beast, so ask any questions.  I think Danville is eastern Illinois???  I am sure someone will come along who is near there.

Lisa... you can be so proud of your daughter. And I like her new hair cut too.

Madismom - Glad you got that first one behind you.  Hopefully the rest will be a bit less intimidating.

Lago - It's great to hear that you're enjoying the new job.  Hope it leads to a regular gig.  My DD had an interview today for a retail job in Watertower that would be perfect for her.  Keeping my fingers crossed because that girl needs a job!

    Happy NED Anniversary to you!

Mak - Always good to hear that you're doing well.  Yay for breaks!

WendyTY - Another YAY for your break. Hope you can catch up on some much-needed sleep.

stjude - Welcome to the IL Ladies thread.  I'm in the NW suburbs, but hopefully someone near your area will chime in soon.

Lisa - Your daughter is a real sweetheart.  I think her new 'do looks awesome on her.

I'm off to bed.  The DD and I are leaving in the morning for a mom/daughter getaway weekend in LA.   Looking forward to getting away for a bit before my upcoming surgery.

Have a great holiday weekend everyone!

    Good morning ladies,

I was up at 2:45am due to steroids, I assume.  I just sent DH off with a lunch.  He is selling a load of hogs today and tomorrow. He transports them to Rantoul, IL; to a meat packing plant.  Running my Roomba right now.  Love that thing.Laughing

My east coast kids survived the hurricane with not effects to them.  We are thankful.  A lot of people did not fare as well.

I am on day 4 of my 3rd AC.  Was really fatigued yesterday.  Hope today is better.

Lago...too funny on getting the nipples shaved down!  Glad the job is going well.

    Jacke...love reading your daily sayings.

Lisa...so proud of your daughter.  What a beauty!

Stjude...welcome!  You'll find everyone friendly and knowledgeable.  I'm NW from you, about 15 miles from the I-57 and Manteno exit.

Joan...Two times already, I have found myself standing at the meat counter in the grocery store, gazing at all the red meat!  Seriously...it has to be the anemia.

Madis...I hope you can attend the back to school event.  My kids always loved that night.  Even in high school.

Waving hi to everyone else.  Have great days ladies!!

    I Have Found Today

Here's another good poem about not living in the past:

I've shut the door on Yesterday,
    Its sorrows and mistakes;
I've locked within its gloomy walls
    Past failures and heartaches.
And now I throw the key away
    To seek another room,
And furnish it with hope and smiles
    And every springtime bloom.
No thought shall enter this abode
That has a hint of pain,
    And every malice and distrust
    Shall never therein reign.
I've shut the door on Yesterday
And thrown the key away -
Tomorrow holds no doubt for me,
    Since I have found Today!

Sorry....I never know for sure what circumsances set in the strange marks.  Hope someday I learn.  Quite a day yesterday and today I will work a bit more on the things that did not get done.  I have had a lot of difficulties with phones.  I use the correct number but seem to get businessess unconnected to the ones I was attempting to reach.  All parties said they had gotten several calls that day so far that weren't for them.  Something to do with Irene damage I think.

I am so glad that everyone sounds so well.  What a great daughter Lisa and a great memory for both of you to share again through the years.

Wendy TY...you may have a disease but your spirit and determination is shining way beyond that.

Welcome Stjude.....you are ( I think ) probably closest to Rita, but I'm saying that now not remembering just exactly where everyone lives.

Mary...you were up too early.....you'll need a nap this afternoon.  Maybe two.....but I think we all allowed ourselves that and more during chemo.

Rene.....here's to a wonderful week-end for you.  Bet you will have a great time.  Some of the times I look back and realize were full of deep satisfaction and joy were the times I spent with my mother.  At the time it seemed partly like what we did -- but later became just sharing good times together.  Like Lisa and her daughter.....it will be a time to make a memory -- a little treasure to put away and when you chance again on it, the sense of love and camaraderie will feel so special and warm and bring some relaxing feelings to you.  Good memories have the power to soothe over and over again without losing one ounce.

Joan....wow.....retirement for Dh.  Then again, that often seems when people get really busy, or learn to put things off constantly.  Everything has a yin and yang.

Hope you are all going to have a wonderful day.  I'm hoping the heat doesn't get too hard to take....back in the 100's around here.

    Hugs, Jackie

Is anyine else trying to do the anti cancer book diet? I am and have found two restaurants that have hormone free and organic options. Prasino in St Charles (they have two other locations. Www.prasino.com) and Honey in Glen Ellyn. Just thought I would share fyi. Some of you probably know this since you have lived here longer.

mdg, I love Honeys in Glen  Ellyn.  My daughter lives there and we go for gluten-free foods for her daughter. My daughter is all organic and gets her meat from some farm with a pickup at a church.  Whole Foods is just too pricey.

Lisa, your daughter is so beautiful. her hair is so pretty!

Going to the zoo today.  Lago, I will wave up to you!

mdg-  Karyn has three restaurants (all downtown) Karyn's Raw, Karyn's Cooked, and Karyn's on Green and there is always Cousin's.  I need to try Honey I'm in Lombard!  I'm off to the "commune", as my dh calls it, next week for detox.  Good times.

Mia is truly a hero! My daughter has depended on the kindness of others like Mia to look as much like herself as possible (what 16 yr old wouldn't want that). Tell Mia on behalf of my daughter, and others, we THANK her!

stjude...I was touched by your post regarding Lisa daughter's hair donation (so pretty) and how it related to your own daughter.  I  looked at your biography and learned   that your daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. So relieved she is in remission.  You humble me!   I was  the  girl ranting on how unfair cancer is.....and here you  are with a daughter who has been sick and now you face BC.  I was raised Catholic and so I know St. Jude big time!  Cancer is no longer always a hopeless case Thank you for helping me to feel enlightened on those who suffer with a cancer diagnosis.

The zoo, girls was so HOT!

Oh Lori -- that was such a touching thank you to my daughter.  Your family has had more than your share, that's for sure.

St Jude is such a wonderful organization.... we have been going to the St Jude Tumbling Competition down in Peoria for years and years now... so heartwarming to hear the guest speakers and to  know that the money being spent on these athletes is going to such a great cause.

I can't say enough good things about St. Jude. We go to the Peoria Midwest affiliate. It's a two hr. trip for us, but worth every minute. They truly saved her life! And to think I didn't even know it was there until Emily was being transported. Now I spread the word whenever I can.

Hi ladies.... I'm on crash and burn mode currently. I felt great until last night and now am just exhausted!!!! Yet I can't sleep either. :(

Good luck today Robo!!!!! I'll be thinking about you.....

I'm in for a Chicago dinner too!!!! :). So long as it's one of my good days!!!

Stjude....I was touched too, I've always felt that place seemed incredible in helping children and their families....and to now know firsthand that st. Jude did help save a life. I've always said if I ever hit the lottery that I would definitely donate money to st. Jude.... Now I suppose I'd be donating twice, st Jude and BC. Why can't I just win the dang lottery by the way???

I'm suffering headaches today, not extremely painful but very annoying and they do hurt. ES Tylenol doesn't seem to do much??? I like my aleve....I wonder if I should contact my chemo team?

Hope everyone has a great day.....stay cool out there!!!!

Mad....if your headaches are bothersome enough to even make you think of calling your chemo team....yes, I would do it.  You may have some 'negative' feelings/pains etc. for a few days, until the cells stop succumbing and you start the upward climb back.  Whatever you handle early on will hopefully keep you more comfortable through this period.

Another hotter than Hades day coming to us here.  Our first "good" day should be Labor Day.  Dh is working until 5:30.  He has a heavy duty sinus condition going on.  Has been sounding awful, dragging, but still going to work.  Says most everyone there is having it too.  Hoping it will bypass me.....so far, so good.

I'll be checking in later.  Hope you all have a good day.

    Make that call Mad.

    Hugs, Jackie

    Hi everyone!

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend and that those in treatment aren't suffering too much.  We are headed to MI this afternoon.  DD's school was cancelled because of the heat (no A/C) but we are bringing her friend with us and she has school!  So, we are leaving this afternoon.  Hope the traffic isn't too horrendous.

zap - I was raised Catholic too and said many a prayer to St. Jude - came through many times!

Good luck today Robo!  Just start counting them down.

Adey: is your daughter doing the "ride along" experience or will she be doing the driving school and actually getting behind the Wheel?  My Dh did the driving thingy and i did the ride along.  Wholly s**t!  they go fast..I screamed like i was on a rolller coaster.  I think I startled my driver.  But i would do it again for sure.  Bring a camera...It was a great day.  I hope they run it as good as they did when we went there.  (about 9 or 10 years ago)  Enjoy.  Wave at me....I am 10 minutes from the track. Maryj is a hop a skip from there too.

Yep, just drove by it on my way home from taking my 85 year old mom out for her birthday lunch.  She is an 18 year bc survivor.  She told me, "This too shall pass".  She's right.

It's too hot for DH to eat much of anything, so we'll jus have a quick 'whatever' from the freezer or pantry.
