Have a great Labor Day weekend.  Yes, Lago, it does feel good to work again.  Although retired, I still love a day here and there with the routine, my  tiny income, and the interaction with kids and friends.I do have to admit I dislike HOUSEWORK.

    Hope all are feeling well.

Yay for Robo - got your first one under your belt.  That one wasn't my hardest, but it was the only one that actually kept me frozen in fear till it was over.  Double good for you and hope any se's are mild and highly tolerable.

Lots to do this long weekend:

    Jazz Fest

    African  Festival of The Arts

Mowtown Fest (might be part of Jazz fest on Monday)

    -----------------------------------

The African Festival of The Arts was the festival I asked the nurse about last year… you know, if it would be OK for me to go to it. it was 3 days after my BMX. I didn't go only because I wouldn't have lasted more than an hour due to lack of energy but I really wanted to. I'm not missing it this year.

OK off to power walk before it gets too hot or rainy

Robo...glad the first one went well.  It is a time consuming affair isn't it? LOL

Lago...hope you are able to get out and do something fun.

Zap...I also dislike housework.  Why does society think that is such a bad thing? LOL  I, obviously do it, but wish I didn't have to!

I am on leave from work right now, and so far, I don't miss it.  Too busy getting healthy again...I am doing a huge amount of decluttering.  Did any of you ladies go through a phase like this?   I'm kinda wondering if it's the cancer or the free time that is causing this.  I'm enjoying the decluttring process, btw!

Hope we get some rain later, but w/o the storms.  Later meaning tonight.  I am in wedding mode (6 more weeks) and feel bad for all the Saturday weddings that get rained out!

I wouldn't hate housework so much except once you are done it's not really done. You have to do it again, and again, and again!Yell  Dust just keeps happening if you know what I mean. It happens more often than taxes.

Good morning ladies. I thought that we were supposed to have cooler weather today, but one more day. I really hate to complain as I love summer and am not looking forward to another long winter. YUCK!

Robo...my BS and PS are at NW, but I did my chemo closer to home out here in the burbs. I was just worried about making the trip back home after each treatment. In retrospect, I would have been fine and sort of wish I had stayed ar NW for my chemo, but I am happy with my ONC out here. If, I ever had a recurrence and required more chemo, I would be back at NW. I have been very happy with my care there and still go back for follow-ups. I don't mind any excuse for a quick trip downtown!

Well, I am off and running a bunch of driving errands today. Hate weekend traffic about as much as cleaning the house. The best thing I ever did for myself was hiring someone else to do it for me while I was going through chemo and radiation. I keep them on still.... My LE PT told me that vacumning was one of the worst things for LE. So, now I have another excuse. YEAH!

Cool here today though there is some humidity hanging around.  The expected storm missed us, though I was hoping for some rain to settle the dust and give our crispy lawn a much needed drink.  Guess we are going to BIL's for Labor Day.  Dh is working all day until 5:30 when the store closes.  So, we will be there late as usual.  I'd skip it, but Dh won't like that.

Summer will be over with for the most part, but these last two/three weeks of super crispy lawn have made me feel that way already.

Hope you all have something nice going on for tomorrow.  Sshhhh, for the ladies, it usually spells cooking but we don't get out of that all that much anyway so Que' Sera Sera.

    See you all later.

    Hugs, Jackie

stjude - I am not so very far from you.  I live in Mahomet and work in Champaign.  I don't post too often any more but try and keep up with everyone reading the posts.

We went to see the newest grandbaby yesterday.  He was 4 mo. old yesterday.  Lots more expression in his face now and has learned to make his favorite toy move so that it makes noise.

Have been busy since school started with volleyball.  Our oldest grandchild is playing freshman volleyball in Leroy so we have already been to 3 games since school started and will be going to another this week.

Weather seems to be cooling off and this next week it looks wonderful.

We are heading out for a vacation for a week the 17th of Sept.  Husband going to Baltimore for a meeting and they have interesting tours for the spouses.  We are spending a day in DC a day in Baltimore and a day in Annapolis .  Then we really get to vacation when meeting is over.  Visiting a friend from college who lives near dc for a day and overnight and then spending 3 days in southern Virginia with family before flying home.  Hope the weather is good that week.

Wendy TY - it is good to hear you are doing better.

Hugs and best wishes to those of you who are going thru treatment still.  21/2 years NED and still want to stay that way.  Annette

st. jude, I'm in Bloomington and that's not too far either,  although Nana A is closer.

Our own Wendy TY chaired and co-chaired the St. Jude Golf outing in Bloomington for many years.  We had several children here to represent the Peoria Affiliate and tell their stories.  What a wonderful organization!  Wendy had the knack of raising LOTS of money every year.  She did an awesome job!

I hope that everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend.  We hauled the boat to Clinton Lake yesterday and spent the day fishing and cruising the larger lake.  What fun!  We got some nice looking catfish, too, which will be dinner one night this week.  Today we went to breakfast and to church.  Later we played golf.  The weather was beautiful!

NanaA....we played golf in LeRoy.  That is such a neat little town and has so many really nice people.

I really hate the idea of summer disappearing!  I just sent in a deposit for a condo on the Gulf in Fort Myers Beach for the month of February.  We have something to look forward to during those cold winter months.

    Enjoy this weekend!

Hi ladies.... Hope everyone's enjoying this beautiful day so far!!!

Thought I'd check in since I haven't in a few days.... I've been crazy busy.

So, I'm not sure what happened but the s/e's from treatment were pretty much zilch except for my headaches....which I was told was from all the different meds and the benedryl and steroids, I was given the okay to take aleve in moderation and they have been much better.

Thursday I walked 2 1/2 miles to start my day and ended at my daughters open house at school. Friday I cleaned my house from top to bottom for the first time since my BMX.... I didn't attempt running the vacuum but managed the swiffer sweeper vac and lots of dusting, scrubbing.....

Saturday I kind of "chilled". My stepson came home and my daughter and I ran to walmart, that was the big excitement. And than yesterday (Sunday) my daughter and I got up and went to the Brookfield Zoo with my brother and niece.... We walked all over the place and had a great day!!

I almost feel guilty at my minimal s/e's so far and have been waiting for the "bomb to drop" and it's just not happening ??? Could I have dodged the bullet this time? I'm one week tomorrow.....

Anyways....hope you all have a wonderful holiday!!! :)

Hi Madis - That is wonderful and is sounds like you did "dodge the bullet".  I had four TC treatments and always felt fine the first 3-4 days and then the s/e's would show up on day 4-5.

A happy holiday Monday to all!

Happy labor day! Chilli out isn't it. I'm not ready for summer to be gone. I hope we get another hot spell. I want low 80's. I'm cleaning house and job hunting today. May go out though because it's so nice. I was out at 8:30 for the power walk.

MadMom I know some one else that had no SE (maybe some taste changes at the end) who also has the same onc. It can happen. Since you had tx on Tuesday and it's now Monday I would say you dodged the bullet.

The only thing I noticed is some taste changes starting on Monday. (My day was Tuesday too). I didn't really notice taste changes till tx 3 because they were so subtle before. I remember buying this new flavor of gum thinking it had a bitter after taste after tx2. I tried it again months after chemo ended and it tasted much better.

Robo are you sure you are getting Nuelasta? I thought that had to be given 24-48 hours after chemo. I could be wrong. You might be getting Neupogen.

Waving to Char. Haven't heard from you in a while.

Happy Labor  Day to all. I hope you all had a wonderful fun filled weekend. Sorry I have been MIA for a few weeks but this school year is the worst.:( I am drowning in paper work and my poor eyes hurt from the computer screen. I don't think I have a minute to share until winter break. sniff.

Looks like there are so many new girls... so welcome to all. Lots of chatter here too. I think I have about 4 weeks worth to read up on. It is very cool up here at the lake. Did go boating yesterday while the sun was out but is was a short ride. Very breezy and cold on the water. Looks like fall is here...bye bye summer. Lago if you want to plan a Chicago dinner get together that would be great. I am going to ask Laura to take over my reservations job until I can get caught up with school.  This is a quick hello to all and wishing all of you in tx a speed recovery.

Enjoy this wonderful weather and remember to be healthy....be happy and enjoy life.

Robo.... I had issues with my insurance and the Neulasta shot too, it delayed me a whole week because my onc wouldn't do my infusion without confirmation I had that shot in hand.... It is strange that they don't care about the 3 day gap, BUT....I've come to realize that every doctor is different.... Hopefully you'll get it tomorrow and no problems!!!! Sounds like you're doing well with s/e's also, not being exhausted and nauseous is huge for me!!!! Now if only my hair wasnt going to fall out, I'd be a happy camper....

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend....the weather sure was beautiful yesterday and today.... I made it out and about today also, this time was retail therapy!!! :)

Hope that everyone had a great holiday weekend. I just got home from the ER and pharmacy. Had my first experience with cellulitis this evening. So glad that my LE PT did such a good job educating me about this possibility and what to watch for. I noticed a large reddened area on my upper arm when I decided to change in to a warmer shirt before going for a walk this evening. Thought I had probably just rubbed it somehow, but noticed that it was hot and a bit raised. I watched it for a couple hours and it was't going away so I headed to the ER and they put me on an IV antibiotic right away. Can't figure out what triggered it at all. They did blood work tonight and it all came back normal so it is a mystery. I really hate this lymphedema &$@/:;- !

I suppose the rest of you are all sound asleep as you should be. I had big plans for "early to
bed early to rise" but, oh well. My DH headed back to our farm today to get some work done there this week so he missed my little trip to the ER and I insisted that he didn't rush home because of me.

Glad to hear those first chemo tx were easy on you....robo and madismommy. Mad mom... Sunds like those steroids have you in high gear...LOL!

Joan that stinks. Oddly enough my LE seems to be a bit  worse with this cooler weather. I started to massage again. Also feeling heaviness in the other arm yesterday but no swelling. I think that arm is a bit better today. do not ♥ LE

BTW Robo did you get Claritin and clear using it with your onc. It's supposed to reduce the SE from nuelasta. I didn't do it because I was on Zyrtec.

OK I need to hit the shower and off to last Herceptin. Will celebrate with Robo if she's still feeling good.

Lago-  Woot!  Congratulations.  I would have been there to celebrate with you and robo if you had given me a nudge!  I'm going to my "torture chick" (Karyn's Raw detox) on Halsted starting tomorrow every Wednesday morning in September.  Maybe we could get together for a walk?

    Happy Tuesday!

Ok...my metal taste started today....and it's really making me angry!!!! What's the point in eating if it all tastes like crap? How long will this last??? UGH..... I still feel good though, other than being tired and my head tingled earlier....*shudder w/ fear*

Madmom Do you have plastic utensils? That can help. I never got metal mouth but my taste changes lasted 4-7 days. I didn't really notice the taste change till TX3 but now looking back I did have it before but it was so subtle. It did get progressively longer each TX for me.

I do have plastic utensils I can try.... Mine is subtle too I think, which really scares me because what am I gonna do when its not subtle if it's already terrible. :( It seems like anything with a cream base is really triggering it too??? Frustrating.... I knew I was cursing myself by saying I felt great!!! BOO!!!!

Morning! Great nights for sleeping, beautiful sunny days! This weather is so nice!

Robo/MaddJenn....sounds like you did great! Yeah...that dirty penny taste was yucky but it didn't last more than several days and crystal light lemonade really helped. I too was told that neulasta had to be given the day after chemo. My first chemo was on a Friday and I had to have the shot at the hospital as my onc was closed. What a shock to see the 300% higher price! Ins pd tho...they refused to let me do it at home tho...I guess the ins co thinks we are going to sell it...lol!!

BJ...yeah dh is overwhelmed with paperwork as well...he's been going in on Sat mornings as no phones ringing. It's always like this the first few weeks tho.

Hump Day! Almost the weekend already...have a great one!
