how about drinking?

All, Pants or Jovk, my team won, celebrated a bit wee much, now time for bed. Assume I will be told what the game plan for Friday's " bus ride" is and will be there with boots on. (seriously have pink cowboy boots I bought when my sister got diagosed in 2008, will wear em and drink til there is no willingness left in me (wide margin), figure the magic bus allows a wide variety of orders and might as well set a standard for myself that always gets me on board, as DorK will testify, 1/2 way ain't my game!
Well phillies eked out a win, so DH and all Philly should be happy. Still want to ensure I get timeright for Junie, looking to the ladies to advise, she sounds worthy of more than just one drink!
Wuld love to hear from casino girl the diver, any post BC care info welcome. Scuby. Love. Cheers and cocktails to all!0 -
Scuby, Glad your Phillies won!!!! My DH was ecstatic too, with Bama's win this weekend. I am "for" them, although only watch the championship games! My late DH was a big Bama fan too, and I have a pic of him and my late stepdad "tossing" (pretend) my DD into the truck on their way down to Tuscaloosa for a big game. She is a HUGE fan, so was thrilled to be going with them. Her last home in Atlanta had a humongous basement, which had green indoor/outdoor carpet. SO, she made it into a football field. Half was decorated with Alabama colors & memorabilia, and the other half was decorated in FL State colors & memorabilia,as that is her husbands fav team. It was really neat when AL played FL State in FL, and they both went to the game, dressed in their team colors, and each side of the van was decorated w/ the diff teams colors. She also has a lot of Bear Bryant stuff, thanks to her late dad.
Why don't you send a PM to CasinoGirl, Scuby? I'm sure she would love hearing from you!!
Hoping for a nice long post from NM....guess I got up too early! DorK, yes, the Traveling Pants brought a tear. The pants site is very touching. I was so moved in Chrissy's thread to see the pic of her signing it, too. That hasn't made it to the site though. Although I did see the Jersey pic there, with you in it!!! Yay! Hope you were able to get up/get ready for work w/ the elec problem....that makes it extra hard! And also hoping you are doing ok working FT. Lori, how is business going? Is this when it slows down (hope not!)....I don't remember.
Guess the bus will get cranked up early Fri morning...remember is it is the Magical HTL Bus and can get to ALL of us in lickity-split time. For you newbies, it is filled with all our fav likkers, wine, beer, snacks, etc. AND of course we have Pants and Jocks to pamper our every whim. Maybe we will have Hunk be the driver this time. Oh, and a big welcome to OLY...hope you can join us in celebrating Junie's DD Kerry's birthday. She misses her mom so much (so do we), and we want to be with her for her first birthday since losing her mom. She really needs all of us....some of us can be surrogate moms and the others can be surrogate sistas. Maybe we can bring a bit of brightness into her day. And I am sure she will love hearing all the stories her mom shared with us.....boy those were soooooo funny....if we can remember them, that is! Of course, we will also toast Junie's memory with Miller Lites (her fav). I think our TT's have the bus in the shop to make sure it is all in superb running condition!!!!!! I know we will all FIT on it, as it expands as needed.
Happy Humpity Hump Day Girlzzzzzzz,
Raquelle

Good morning, Loungettes! Boy, it has been a weekend! Saturday morning, while driving around to make my rounds the car started overheating. Babied it back to town, found the coolant reservoir empty, put some universal engine coolant in, everything seemed ok. Started off to my next visit, got to a 4 way stop next to a local college just as the crowd was starting to arrive for a function or game or something, and the car died in the middle of the intersection. Got the car towed, got a rental, made up for the lost time during the day by making visits until 10 pm. Sunday was a long day, didn't finish up visits until 9 pm, worked on computer/paperwork until 1:30 am, got up at 6 and took until almost 10 am this morning to finish. Spent part of the day napping, now I'm up and working on facing the (rest) of the day. Won't know about the car until later this am. I don't need a big bill right now! But, what will be will be and I'll find a way.UPDATE: On Tuesdauy found out I need a new started, $250, so they can then find out what ELSE is wrong with the car!
Scuba-I took tamoxifen for a while and didn't have ANY side effects. I actually asked to go off tamoxifen and onto arimidex because I was so afraid that the tamoxifen wasn't working! My Med Onc said most women don't have any SE, so the odds are in your favor in that regard. Of course, we all know about odds. . . Amazing how important it is to have a mundane day, isn't it? Hope you had a really good, uneventful weekend. I am so jealous of your iPad! I really want one, but it just isn't in the budget right now. Sigh.
Mrs_Vino-Welcome! Obviously you fit right into this thread, and you are more than welcome here. I just started making wines a couple of years ago, have had some successes and some failure, but always fun! And it takes all of us a little while to figure out the picture uploading thing, you'll get it soon. The DOTD gets decided by whoever decides to do it. I try to post one regularly during the week (I work weekends) but when life gets busy I fall down on the job, but one of the other Loungettes usually picks up for me. And sometimes we have more than one DOTD going! That's lots of fun too. So fee free to share yours anytime!

Claire-Hooray for the good prognosis for your Main Squeeze! I'm sorry he's struggling, and hope he finds lots of support. And getting moving is so important, but something I still struggle with. I know, I just gotta do it, but that's easier said than done when it's establishing a change in your lifestyle. . . .

DorK-Did you know that typing in the sun uses the same language as typing after a long visit at the Lounge Bar? So glad you are having a good time! Love the Beanglish language!

Speaking of Beanglish! Good Morning, Beanie! I hear you about catching your breath after work, it took me all Monday to recover from my weekend! I wonder if that means I'm getting old?
Olygirl0204-welcome to the lounge and thanks for the martini! I love toasting and dwinking, and yes, the Tenders do private parties. Have to book ahead, though, they're very popular! Should we send Pants or Jock your way? ??
Do you prefer Pants?

or Jock?
AStorm-yes, the surgery will have a lot of positives. Being able to move enough air through my nose and not having the extra tissue in the back of my throat means I'll stop snoring and be able to sleep better, which may bring my blood pressure down and make it easier to lose weight. BUT, I'll be happy just to not have to fight with sinus infections that develop into bronchitis and flare up the asthma every winter and spring. After recon surgery, this doesn't sound very scary at all. So why am I writing up lists of things I have to do to prepare? Oh well, that's not such a bad way to cope with pre-surgery jitters. This time I get to talk to the anesthesiologist that will be doing my case on my pre-op visit, which will be really nice. I can tell him all the problems I've had and know that that stuff is known the day of surgery. LOVE Where's the Frosting!!!!! Hope my car can get fixed for less than yours! Yikes!

Hi, Linie Lou! Good to meet you! You'll have a great time here in the HTL! What's your fav dwinky?
Wahine-GREAT idea for a PARTAY!!!!! We need a good one right about now.

Goldie-you can tell if a pill or capsule is slow release by looking for the initial SR (slow release), ER (extended release), PR (prolonged release) or an hour -like Melatonin 4 hours or similar. If it just says Melatonin without initials or if it says IR (instant release) it is not a slow acting version. The cancer center should be able to tell you what version melatonin you are using.

Karen-if you run the cookies through the Lounge all the calories get leached out. . . .
Since car trouble seems to be a theme right now, think the DOTD should be "The Mechanic"
1 oz Southern Comfort
1 oz Amaretto
7 oz Orange Juice
1 dash Grenadine
7 oz Sweet and Sour Mix
Best served in a Collins Glass.

Ha ha Kathy..............you want to borrow MY brain???? Well then, I need to borrow yours, as I can't figure out what "GC" is. Oh yes, business has pretty much come to hault. I think the phone rang once yesterday! No dust here K, but it did rain pretty hard. The thing with that here is that it just runs off. The ground is so hard with clay and rocks that it just washes everything away. So not good when it comes down like that. They call those things in the Valley (Phx) Haboobs! What a funny name is that?
Hi Oly and welcome. You can have all the dirty martini's you want and yes the Tattie Tenders are available for private parties.................but you MUST INVITE US!
DorK, will be so happy when you can have all of this surgery behind you. Dayem , you have been through a LOT!
Jaybird, good to see you.....but can't believe you haven't seen the video. That just means you aren't around enough and need to pop in more.
Oh gosh Gail, go enter and win that car. If we can't find the keys for the bus, we could take your new Subaru! I'm sure we could find a way to fit!
Claire, I meant to say something about your MS, (I was away when I read it) then forgot, imagine that! Anyways, sending prayers your way and his. Pancreatic cancer is not usually one that is caught early, so he his indeed VERY lucky. How on earth did they find it so early? Usually when pancreatic cancer or liver are found, it is too late. Please keep us updated.
Karen, at least you aren't eating cookies IN bed!
ScubZ, I talk to Casino Girl and will let her know you have some questions. I know she has been diving, but she is also (I believe) 7 yrs clean! Love how you roll "1/2 way ain't my game".
Amber Alert for our Beanie, NM, HD, Casino Girl, Dee and would sure love to put Junie on this list. As I miss her and her posts very very much. Would add Chrissy, but we know she is not missing!
Mrs V......we try to have a DOTD that has some sort of meaning to what someone has said. Usually NM finds one.............but anyone can. And we have been known to have more than one! Soooo....I will offer up a SANDSTORM!
1/3 shot of Kahlua
1/3 shot of Rum
1/3 Shot Malibu Rum
Pour the two rums into a shot glass, then add the Kahlua. Let the Kahlua sink to the bottom, take it back and enjoy the ride!
Or............The Arizona Desert SandStorm Cocktail
Thai chile-infused vodka **try Absolut Peppar Vodka or if you have two weeks you can make your own! Cranberry juiceSplashes of limeSplash of pineapple juices

NM, Sorry about your car, did you mean that it only needed a starter? Hope you do not need new wheels. Loved your cartoon its Friedey everyday, had to quickly scroll past your hot boy friends since I am at work.
I really needed this today as I just got an update on my coworker, Cindy. She is off all fluids for 24 hrs and they give her just a few hours. To make matters worse, she was terminated from the company yesterday as it was six months since she worked. I had not known she was back to work for the two weeks as I was out on std. Another set of coworkers (both the mr and mrs work with me) lost their son at a young age from a heart attack. I was just having a hug fest in a break room with the couple and also friends of Cindy's. For now, I just pray that God takes her. I already mentioned to all that He only takes the best prematurely, I have found that to be true.
Kathy, funny how you wished for a long post from NM and wooosh, it came!! Can you wish that I find a million dollars in my bank account? And how is it that your DH is a Phillies fan?
Scuba, have to call and find out about my appointment next week. Will do that soon. Thanks for allowing me to post my pain, it is definitely a great help. Love you girls, is it Friday yet?? Oh, remind me to tell you of the dream I had last night of having nose surgery, it was comical. Gotta run, have a meeting in 15 minutes.

Wow....I am so sorry DorK about Cindy. Sometimes a peaceful death is all you can pray for. And of course entry into the next world if you believe these things.
Termination at work is relatively unimportant in these cases, unless life insurance was involved. Something I would personally fight if one of her heirs. I know it affects medical coverage, but I think there won't be that much of a need, and they might be able to do a month of COBRA. You will need some professional help here to work this out.
NM....sorry your car croaked on you. Hoping it can be easily repaired. Getting stranded is the pits, but at least not in midwinter nor 90 degrees out (as when it happened to me).
I am back to the search. Looked yesterday, but didn't see anything new to apply for. Was going to circle back to one where I thought I had a good chance, but the company is being folded into another firm. I don't know why the postings would still be up, but I'm not touching that one.
NM....was great waking up to the eye candy. Wondering how those silk thongs feel to a guy. Hmmmmmm. - Claire

I'm taking up membership of this club. I'm a red wine & gin & tonic honey. Always tastes better just after chemo, might be the cortisone. Haven't had a hangover since Dx & always find my bra & knickers.

Aacckkkkk just have a minute but want to comment to ALL....well I will have to post later too, I guess...LOL. Oh Lori, the GC stood for gift card....and yes I still think your brain functions better than mine! Too bad business is so seasonal, but guess you are used to that by now. And not so good to get that rain that washes everything away! We could use some rain about now. Love your DOTD's!!!
NM, Ha, ha, I laffed a lot, esp with the dalmation/spots cartoon and the Maxine cartoon. And oohlala that eye candy of the 2 guys!! Hate to hear that about your car...need the starter THEN find out what else is wrong...not too encouraging there. HOPING it won't be an arm and a leg.Love your DOTD too!
No, Dork, my DH is a dyed-in-the-wool BAMA fan....I must have written incoherently (what else is new? lol), but was replying to Scuby being a Philly fan. So sad about Cindy, but she will be in such a better place, since there seems to be no hope of her staying in this world. I know that is extremely sad for you, her family, coworkers, and friends. Hope it comes peacefully and without pain, for her. And for your other coworkers losing their son....cannot even imagine the pain they are feeling. You dear, must be going nuts with all that stress. Hope you are taking care of yourselt as we can't have our dear DorK to be sick, or under that much stress.
Well, been outside painting the double garage door. Started out nice and cool, then the sun came straight down on me, and it was SO hot! JUst have the top row with the designs, to do maybe tomorrow. Came in to cool off, then out to trim some hedges. Of course, DH is INSIDE on the puter and watching tv......aaarrrggghhhhhh.....but he is also trying to straighten things up. I do not enjoy doing these outside things, but someone has to! Going to have my parents here for Pau Hana tonight, then out for catfish. Ciao!!!!
Hugsssssssss,
Kathy

Oly - welcome, hope this site brings you as many smiles as I get from it! NM, I love the iPad BUT, you can't attach pictures and images with it, so I beg you on behalf of the HTL to not get one as your posts are so awesome. (mrs_Vino can back me up on this). But it is nice to have.
DorK, let me know, if it is Monday, let's meet for coffee ( we will probably still be recovering from Friday night's party!)
So gotta tell you, am about to get on my own magic bus. We are in a fantasy baseball and football league via our local Belgian Beer bar. The winner gets paid off in beer and booze ($1500 for baseball). So have rented an Explorer to escort the winner for his purchase. Winner also has to kick partial amount in for a party, gotta share a little! So will be warming up for Friday night today, plus, hopefully watching another phillies win tonight.
Wahine, had the same thought, sent a PM to casino girl earlier today. Diving is keeping me motivated for the PT I gotta do because of the LAT surgery!
Cheers!0 -
Way to go Scuba!!!! You will be diving again sooner than you think. I couldn't wait to get back on my skis again last December. Was scared too with all the horror stories about altitude/repetitive motion, but I was just fine once I got my groove back.
Took a couple of miles to get there though, and I was scared to death driving up.
Speaking of iPads, I am greatly enjoying the "Siri = butt in Japanese" story. Oops. (Siri is the new artificial intelligence app, but obviously no one on Apple's marketing team speaks Japanese, and they didn't test the name.) So "a pain in my Siri" fits here.
I wonder what Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are telling their daughter now about her name??? Poor kid. You have to watch these things.
No news to report here other than my VAIO care did fix the 228 errors in my registry files. Have to say I was a bit concerned here. Need to finish cleaning up my email and back up my system.
Final bit of news is glorious snow on the highest peaks of the Olympics this AM. So we really are into my favorite season. - Claire

NM - I like the DOTD better than my "mechanic"... he quoted over $4k to replace the transmission. DH said we should take it to a transmission specialist and they say they need to replace a part which will cost close to $1k which may solve the problem - they would do this before replacing the whole transmission and even if they have to do that it will cost about $3k. So I'm wondering why the other mechanic, who has serviced our Hondas for about 18 years, dismissed that option (we did discuss that as a possibility). And why the idiot lights on my dash never went out after he was supposed to fix my car a few months ago. Hmm. I may be writing some letters...
I was avoiding my house this morning because DH is working from home and calling mechanics & I am getting depressed about this situation & don't want to hear it. Bought new napkins and autumnal salad plates... Came home to find a dead salamander (I think) in the living room. Both cats were on the piano as tho they were avoiding it... reminded me of Dostoevsky's Crime & Punishment... "Am I capable of that? Is that serious? It is not serious at all. It's simply a fantasy to amuse myself; a plaything! Yes, maybe it is a plaything."
they say Beanie did it... where you go Beans?
It's still raining here. I should plan a dinner party. Last night I mentioned to DH that I am feeling a little down because of the car and missing DD & so I'm looking forward to our dinner party this weekend. That is when he mentioned that the people we invited for this weekend can't come. DH made the calls as they are really his friends, but forgot to tell me they are in Cabo... I think he not like partay. Too bad. I NEED partay. Was thinking of inviting DD2's bff and her family but they are being vegan right now. I cook vegetarian most of the time and vegan sometimes (DD2 is vegan) but not sure who else to invite as the only other veg's we know were veto'd by DH (had dinner with them at the expensive restaurant with tiny portions and they talked about negative stuff for 2 hours)... maybe he not like partay...
JOTD:
Why does vegan cheese taste so bad?
It hasn't been tested on mice.0 -
OK, back from the errands and a nice long walk with Sadie. Found out that a "cross member" got "pushed back" and "broke the radiator" which is probably going to be big bucks. Called the insurance company, got a claim started, and they are paying $25/day on the rental for the next 7 days-which is more than half! Big help there. And it gives me time to cash out my last PIA little retirement account. Then I can cover everything, pay ahead for oil for the winter and beef up the emergency fund a bit.

Hey, Goldie-you bumped me right into the pool! Ah, it's nice, I think I'll float over to the bar and get a SandStorm-sounds yummy! Anything with Kahlua must be good!

DorK-no, they need to put a new starter in to start the car and read the computer to find out what is wrong. Besides the broken radiator, that is. Funny, though, it's almost better it's a big problem and I can use my insurance, at least financially. Now I'll only be out the $500 deductible and about $10/day on the rental. Much easier to cope with than a $1500+ repair bill. I am so sorry to hear about Cindy. I can tell you that the insurance will cover up to the day of her termination, and I believe the Cobra option must be offered . They can buy the Cobra coverage for 1 month and it will cover the entire hospitalization.

Dear Heavenly Father, I'm "calling" to talk to you about Cindy. I really wanted her to get better and be healed, but that apparently is not YOUR plan. Please take her soul quickly and painlessly from this world to heaven. Please let her family and friends, and DorK especially, feel YOUR peace and comfort in the hard hours and days to come.
Claire-I am grateful the car decided to die on a day when it was pouring rain but almost 60 degrees. Could have been a WHOLE lot worse! I wondered about the silk thongs, too. . . . And Hooray for snow for Claire! I'm actually looking forward to snowshoeing this winter. I loved it the few times I got to do it last winter. There's a golf course near me that opens up for cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, gonna check it out. I think I can take Sadie there, which would be great fun!

Wahine-sounds like the car repairs will be an arm and leg, but since insurance covers all but one finger and one toe, I'm actually going to be better off now that it's a big repair. Go figure.

Scuba-If I get an iPad, it won't be to replace my desktop, it will be an additional toy. And there isn't anything to worry about there, since a $500 toy is not going to be in my budget for a long, long, long time. I get too much enjoyment out of finding the right pics to go with what's being said to ever give it up!

NM, glad you have rental coverage on your auto. I try to remind everyone I know to get this, it is SO inexpensive and so nice to have when needed. I will view your posts in detail when I get home.
Scuba, I met to call today but got caught up here. I am still at work donig a bit of O.T. and doing a favor for my boss. I hope to see you, will let you know. go Phillies, this one is for you

Claire, thanks for your sweet wishes for my friend Cindy. She is still hanging as far as I know. I look at it this way, she will just get to heaven before me but I will see her again. Glad to hear your MS's diagnosis is promising.
Kathy, painting AGAIN? gosh I could sure use you. I have so much painting I would like done. If I pay for you to fly to see me, can I put you to work lol. Really though....You are always painting something, garage doors? wouldn't it be easy to spray them? I love using spray paint, it is quick and easy. Of course you need the right sprayer for a big project such as the gay-rouge doors (that word is also a word my child used to use). Do not worry about me. All of this adversity is making me stronger and grateful for my prognosis. I visited the traveling pants web again once you posted it last night and also viewed Chrissy B's photos. I wanted to get to bed early last night but just had to do one last thing which was visit her page. I miss her so much.
Being with the stage IV girls, losing Junie, my PS and next my dear friend Cindy, makes me so grateful for what I have versus being ticked about what I do not have or what I have been through.
I wanted to tell you about my crazy dream last night, my latest adventure is that I was having nose surgery, running to the hospital, was running late. I was walking so fast that I walked into a moving train but only grazed my toe. When they were wheeling me into surgery, I found that the surgeon was the jeweler, one who in real life was from my home town, Mr.Galdo. I was having doubts about his competency as a nose surgeon. I had also had a meal with my family right before I got there and was not supposed to eat but decided not to tell. Now for the fun part, I had my two dogs with me in the O.R. along with a neighbor's three doxies (which do not exist in reality). Oh, I was bare footed the whole time. woke up out of this dream at 7:50, my wake up time every day this week despite the obnoxious music playing at a very high volume. I am due to work at 8:30 and have managed to make it on time but it is not easy and I don't feel one bit pretty (to say the least) lol. Cheers my ladies, time to work another hour then home to watch baseball and try to catch up more. Am I crazy or what? I know it is the drugs that makes my mind go wild at night. My sheets were soaked too. Ugh, four more years of tammy as of yesterday!!! yippieeee!! Cheerz my ladies. Love you all.

Wow on all the repair bills. Puts a few things into perspective.
I am so sorry DorK about your losing your friends. I am also beyond grateful for the life I continue to have. I celebrate every day that I am here and not shortchanged.
I am 30% through the anastrazole, not that anyone is counting. Not that dreadful in the scheme of things. No worse than very minor symptoms. (I didn't get the "loss of appetite" one though.)
I am still on my exercise soapbox. Just so important. So glad NM that you are planning to get on snowshoes this winter. Great exercise for you, and great for Sadie. Also helps with cabin fever. I have to be outdoors in the winter.
Mammo tomorrow, and convinced I will be just fine. Not worried, but do want to be past it.
Spent part of the day printing out photos for my friend's mother in Vermont. The one of me finishing the STP and also a current shot of me. Plus twelve others from my travels. I am so sick of people I grew up with putting me with the "elderly cancer ladies". Come on folks.
Also, I have never had a chance to share some of the glorious scenery with her (she doens't have a PC). So a way of doing that too.
I looked back at my hair from earlier this year. No wonder I wasn't quite ready to move on!!! Even May was early. Took another three months to really look the way I wanted to. Now I do.
Need a walk, and then a DOTD, which will be wine. Can't wait for that moment. - Claire

Just heard sad news....Steve Jobs, founder of Apple died today from pancreatic cancer...he was 56.....damn, I had cancer!!!!
0 -
I am saddened, but not surprised at the news. I knew that he never would have stepped down unless absolutely necessary. A sad day for Apple.
Jobs was a fighter, one reason that he lived as long as he did with the hand he was dealt. And he was creative until almost the very end. The iPhone and iPad would not have happened if he had not been at the helm.
It is sad to see one of the really creative people go in his prime. Just so sad.
0 -
Even though this was expected, I find myself shaken up. Very sad for his family. I was driving and heard Job's voice on the radio, and I knew what had happened. Brings all the cancer fears to the forefront. He was such a young, creative person and this made me realize how little control we have over our lives. It also brings up thoughts of our impact and what legacy we leave behind.
0 -
Just got home from dinner, and before turning on the tv, tuned in to our thread here. DID NOT KNOW about Steve Jobs passing. So sad, what a loss, but his legacy lives on. Just TOO YOUNG to die from cancer. It really DOES suck. Thanks for posting that, Karen. Will ketchup with my shows and check back in later with my girlz here.
0 -
I was talking to my 13 year old DD and said that 56 was too young to die from cancer and she said that 56 is too young to die from anything!!!! She is an amazing child.....
0 -
Ok, been a while since my last post, and sooo want to talk about so many things; but it's late and I have to get up early as do most of u, so for now, Thankmyou so much for your hair link! Mine is slowly coming in......
And can the DOTD be an Apple martini? No recipe as of yet but will post ASAP. RIP Mr. Jobs. We will raise a glass for you tonight. Peace0 -
Karen, I should correct my post....your DD is so right....56 is too young to die from ANYTHING! She is the same age as my oldest g'dau. Glad your DD doesnt' think we are old and decrepit (sp?) by 50! I still haven't seen the news, as had to ketchup on X Factor as well as Survivor.
Girls, Kerry (Junie's DD) is looking forward to our partay for her bday on Friday! OH, and she DID know about our lampshade parties. During the last one, she was visiting her mom for a few days, and they were up drinking and talking while the partay was going on....here is an excerpt from the PM she sent me today...
. "Let the ladies know that I did know about the party while I was there. also let them know my only regreat is not getting a pic of my mom, my girls and myself with lampshades on our heads for her to post.(we talked about doing that but think the Miller Lites were tasting really good that night) . Also let them know I am so looking forward to Friday night."
So lets not forget to bring our lampshades with us on the bus!!! PARTAY, PARTAY, PARTAY!!!!

Hi girls, thinking of you all lots but so tired and emotionally drained to post or even read at the end of the day. Trying hard to remember that when life gives you a hundred reasons to cry show life there are a thousand reasons to smile.....hope my heart will beleive this soon
Hugs Kymn
0 -
I'll have to skip the partay on Friday night as it is Yom Kippur.....a fast day...and the holiest day of the year...but I'm making up for it tonight with 3 glasses of wine tonight and of course I'll have to finish the bottle tomorrow night!!!!
Tomorrow I get to meet our Chrissy B.....I've already been lucky enough to chat with her twice on the phone.....
For some reason Steve Jobs death has hit me hard...its not like I'm an Apple groupie...other than my ipod, I don't own any Apple products...I think its because his death was from cancer and he is the same age as my husband and me...well a year older than me, but thats the same age....just too close for comfort!!!!
Wahine...I think for my DD, having a mom as old as me changes her perspective on age....I was turning 42 when she was born....she is such a ray of sunshine for me!!!! I am so lucky to have her for a daughter.....she is so special.....
just ate another cookie...so think I need to pour a little more wine to wash it down!!! then into bed to read.....slowly making my way through The Help....but will have to renew the book as won't get it done in time.....
Hugs and sweet dreams...Karen

Karen, I am SO excited for you, that you will meet Chrissy tomorrow! I didn't know you were going to get to meet her, and that is just wonderful news. Wish I could wrinkle my nose and get teeny tiny and suddenly be there with you two tomorrow. I know it will be a very special time! Since you have that important holy day, it is ok to start celebrating Kerry's birthday tonight, with wine and cookies! Would you give Chrissy a hug from me? Mahalo!!!
Kymn, Hang in there! SOMEDAY it will be so much better, and this will be but a (bad) memory. You will triumph over this, and already have proceeded in the right direction. Try to get enough rest, too!
Hugs,
kathy

JOTD Psychiatrists vs. Bartenders
EVER SINCE I WAS A CHILD, I'VE ALWAYS HAD A FEAR OF SOMEONE UNDER MY BED AT NIGHT. SO I WENT TO A SHRINK AND TOLD HIM:
"I've got problems. Every time I go to bed I think there's somebody under it. I'm scared. I think I'm going crazy."
"Just put yourself in my hands for one year,' said the shrink. 'Come talk to me three times a week and we should be able to ge...t rid of those fears.."
"How much do you charge?"
"Eighty dollars per visit," replied the doctor.
"I'll sleep on it," I said.
Six months later the doctor met me on the street. "Why didn't you come to see me about those fears you were having?" he asked.
"Well, Eighty bucks a visit three times a week for a year is an awful lot of money! A bartender cured me for $10. I was so happy to have saved all that money that I went and bought me a new pickup."
"Is that so!' With a bit of an attitude he said, "and how, may I ask, did a bartender cure you?"
"He told me to cut the legs off the bed!"
FORGET THE SHRINKS..
HAVE A DRINK & TALK TO A BARTENDER!
May your troubles be less, Your blessings be more,
And nothing but happiness come through your door!0 -
Morning ladies, slowly recovering form combo of party and phillies loss. But the upside is DH and I have tickets for the final game Friday night, so, I will be drinking my Miller Lites at a baseball game (seems appropriate).
Suggest we all post a pic of our toasts in honor of Junie. Mine might not show up til saturday.
Enjoy the day. It's always sunny in Philadelphia and actually is today! Cheers.
Chrissy is now on to Colorado, DorK so grateful I had the chance to meet her on the first legbof her amazing journey, thanks!0 -
Awww Gail.....sorry you are feeling lonely. If I were closer, I would come to your partay, as I'm sure everyone else here would as well! Again, sorry about the car issues. I know my DH is always saying "ALWAYS SOMETHING".
NM, glad you enjoyed the bump...and the Sandstorm. You too are another one having car issues. I hope you gals aren't starting a trend! And you are so organized at getting things ready for the winter, or storms, or whatever is heading your way. And such a nice prayer for DorK's friend Cindy......Amen.
LOL, now DorK is trying to bribe Kathy to come to her house! And what a dream....I never remember any dreams, so I would say I don't have them. But yours are so vivid. Maybe NM can have Sadie in with her when she has hers done.
MrsV, an APPLE martini sounds poyfect! Great JOTD too......I'll drink to bar tenders, and our Tattie Tenders.
Kathy, I am ready for Kerry's par-tay, could you send the bus for me later in the afternoon as I am having my endoscopy tomorrow at 1:15. How funny that they were all going to put lampshades on!
Kymn........believe it, believe it! Hugs from all of us.
Karen, enjoy your time with Chrissy, and Kathy can't be so selfish.....Give her a hug from ALL OF US! Hmmmmmm....cookies and wine?
Scuba, I talked to Donna (casinogirl) I assumed you were wanting to ask questions regarding the healing from your surgery and diving. But as I thought, and confirmed with her, she had lumpectomy, so healing was much different and quicker for her, I'm sure.
40 mph winds tonight and temps below freezing tonight..........ewwwwww! And today is our 2 yr anniversary (being married), been together for 11.
Being the Betty White fans that we are, I thought you all might get a kick out of this.

DorK-I've always gotten rental coverage, it doesn't cost much and makes a huge difference, especially for me. Someone with 2 vehicles may not need it, but someone like me, single with one car, well, it pays fro itself if you have to use it. That was one weird dream! Kinda funny in spots, like the dogs in the OR and the jeweler as surgeon. You must think your nose is very valuable! Does the barefoot part indicate you do or don't feel connected to the earth? I'm not sure. . .

Claire-I started Arimidex on 4/10/2008. Not that I keep track or anything. Sadie's pestering me for a walk, so that will be the next thing on the agenda today. Hooray for getting your hair back where you want it! Feeling like you look good makes you feel good.

Karen-Steve Jobs" death is the major topic of the news this am. So young, so sad. We'll miss you at the partay Friday, but religious observances are very, very important. Hope it's an enjoyable one, too! And I'm so excited that you will be meeting Chrissy!

Formygirls-very good point. Our legacy is one of the few things we have control over.

Mrs_Vino-the DOTD can be anything you want-and you are not obligated to drink the DOTD that anyt of us post, either! It's all in fun. Oh, My, what a great joke! Nothing like plain old common sense, is there?

Wahine-LAMPSHADE PARTAY!!!!! Can't wait for Friday! Not working this weekend, going to a high school reunion Saturday. Spending Sat night with my aunt so I don't have to drive back late at night. The price is good-I just have to bring Sadie!

Kymn-Glad you checked in. Try to check in on Friday evening and figure out which one of use is which with out lampshade hats on! Hang in there, woman. You are strong.
DOTD--as requested, Apple Martini
1 oz Apple Vodka
2 oz Apple Juice
1 tsp GrenadineDirections
