Oh and Lago, whos is doing the tat work?  NWMH just starting using an tattoo artist and he is on LSD.  He is out of pocket, so anyone can go to him. I plan on using him.  His name is Jeff.  If you want me to find out more for you I will.

I just posted this linky. also in the chicago tribune online too. Link to article in the thread. They are talking about Tamoxifen:

While not conclusive and risk seems small and seems to be tied to obese women I thought this would be of interest in women with the risk factors.

Wow, a lot to get caught up on.

mdg, yes the paraban free products have bad stuff in them...formaldehyde for one.  And all lotions that you apply to your body go directly into your blood stream.  It's very disconcerting.  As for make-up, I use mineral make-up by a private company.  I refuse to use any thing else because they are essentially all made by the same company and just sold under different names...MAC, Prescriptives, etc.  A lot the ingredients have been banned over seas.

As for dryer sheets, I discontinued them years ago because a) my dog ate them b) they are bad for your dryer.  So that's one less thing I have to worry about.

Thanks, largo, for your link about Tamoxifin.  I'm still waiting to take it.  I've had the prescription for two months but have been too afraid to take it.  I'm slowly working up the courage.

    Good night, ladies!

    Good morning ladies,

I'm heading out soon to pick up dd27 from Midway.  She's coming in from WashDC for her wedding next week.

Thanks for the Tamoxifen link.  I am scheduled to start that when chemo ends.

I guess I just never thought about it, that lotions go directly into your bloodstream.  I love my Amazing Grace (from Philosophy) body lotion.  Will have to check ingredients, but I'm sure they won't be good.

Blackjack...a 4 day weekend sounds great!  Enjoy.

Steve Jobs' Three Rules of Life ...

    1. Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.

    2. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.

    3. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition - they somehow already know what you truly want to become.

I'm not sure if anyone saw this or not but thought you may be interested as I know that several of you see the same doctor...http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/health&id=8382258.

    ========================================

I know I don't post often but I keep up with you all daily and know where to go if I ever need a strong support group.  I did have a bit of a scare this week but I didn't want to be a "worry-wart"...

I went for my 6-month follow-up MRI last Friday & received a call on Monday that they saw something that they were concerned with so they wanted me to come in for an ultrasound.  I went in Tuesday morning and waited for the radiologist to review the results.  Apparently she was still worried about what she was seeing so they recommended a biopsy.  UGH!  (the first one - stereotactic - was fairly difficult and didn't go terribly smoothly).  They assured me that this would be easier as it was only going to be a core-needle and they would make sure to watch carefully for any bleeding (I bled for 4 hours and ended up with a huge hematoma the last time).  So they scrambled for doctors orders & the next thing I knew they were numbing me for the biopsy!  They were fantastic and I had no issues (not even any bruising which is totally unlike me).  So I spent the rest of the day on the couch being babied by my dear husband.  I recieved the results at 2pm on Wednesday and fortunately it was just a benign fibroadenoma.  Phew - I can breath again!  But it also made me realize that this is what I will be faced with for the rest of my life now.  Lovely!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend - get out and enjoy this fantastic weather!

    Jenn

Oh Jenn, I'm so glad it was benign.  YEA!

My family is pulling in late tonight for the Spoon River Drive and I need to get moving and get some more fruit and milk in the house for the little guys.  I'm always excited about a visit with them.

Hopefully everyone is enjoying this excellent weather.  Wow!  This could stay for WEEKS as far as I am concerned!

    Hugs to all of you.

Jenn we love hearing benign. Thanks for posting the article. I've been reading about TDM1 since last winter. Too bad the FDA didn't give early approval but it is exciting.

I'm doing great. No nausea at all just a ton of fluid retention. Lets just say my legs aren't fitting into the jeans I wore last Friday night. Gained 6+ lbs since yesterday before surgery. I feel like Violet from Willie Wonka. Also they bandaged me up so much I'm huge on top. I finally found a shirt that would fit over all that… I never wear this shirt because it's Komen pink. Yuk.

Believe it or not I'm going out to lunch with a friend. I feel pretty good just a little sore in places. I this time I was beat out of the gang. Lots of black bruises.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weather.

Good news jen on the benign status!  Having to be vigilant is what the journey is all about and what so many don't understand who don't have to walk it.

Yes I hate pink too Lago.  I am excited that you had your nip recon. Can't wait to hear what you think.  I am hoping to have mine by the end of the year. It is a bit strange as I am a failed NSM so I have my areolas totally on the right and almost all on the left. So don't you think it will be wierd to do this?

Have a great weekend everyone. I don't post often but I follow.

Determined I think you'll look even better than me with your orignal areolas. They seem to do a great job with nipples but tattoo areolas IMO are not as good the real thing. I bet you will look great.

I don't know.  Have you heard of the 3D I had thought about that at one time too. But going for the other. My PS is going to take the tissue from my big toe......... so wierd. He was going to take from the ear but said he doesn't think it holds the projection.  Not enough skin to do a star thing to make the projection.  I will probably have to have the projection tatooed right?  Man two years ago I didn't know any of this stuff.

I like the idea of the 3D  tattoos but I decided my husband deserves nipples. He's been wonderful. I'll just have to get those modesty petal things if the nips look too excited under clothing.

Yes that is what I thought.  Did they use the skin on your breast or a graft?  Did they use anything to help with the projection?

Just local skin. I think he overcompensates assuming they will shrink/flatten a bit. Not sure if he put any fat in there. I know I had a lot of fat grafting too but not sure if any went into the nipple. I hear they can do that too. Areolas will be just tattoo.

DD is doing the marathon on Sunday so we are planning the complicated map  of spotting her along  the way.  Now they have all these gizmo's to figure out her whereabouts based on her running times.  It will be  a miracle if we spot her, but it will be fun.  It is cooling off  (thank goodness) and not the best running weather but at least  cooler than it was today.

    Have a good weekend!

Lago - how do you your "linky"s? I tried to use the link button but obviously it didn't work and it added the period.

Lago....glad to hear you are recovering.  I too also get swelled up from the fluids.  When I had my exchange I wore some cute white capri pants.  I could not zip them up later that day when we left to go home!  They were not tight when I went to the hospital that morning either.  Where did they take the fat from on your body?  Just curious...I will have fat grafting too but my PS didn't commit to where he was going to take the fat from.

Zap:  wish your DD a good race from your BC buddies!  That's amazing.  I always wanted to do something like that.

Jenn:  Benign is the BEST word around here....great news!!!

Well I met with my new docs this week at NW. THe Med Onc did not thrill me so I think I will look for another one.  I felt completely dismissed because I was "only" stage 1.  He said " you are my easiest patient of the day" and then didn't want to humor my questions.  He did not draw any blood. Does not do any scans.  Was not interested in helping me deal with hot flashes for several more months.  Does not do the tammi metabolism test.  Didn't want to discuss anything with my ovaries (I was pre-menopausal before chemo/tammi).  He didn't care that I was anemic and had low vitamin D and told me to see my internist for that....nice hu?  Blech!  I need to find another med onc for sure.  The PS on the other hand was wonderful!  I loved him.  All I need is nips and FG at this point. He is going to do nipples and then graft the areolas using the skin from my c-section scar. The bonus is I get a mini tummy tuck....they need to remove a few centimeters of skin from my tummy.  I scheduled my surgery for Dec 9th.  My BFF is coming from Ohio to help us with childcare and such.  I am so glad to get this done before the end of the year!  I will get fat grafting that same day and tattoo's will follow 3 mo's later.  Did anyone else do nips with areola grafts?  Just curious.  How painful is the healing from the fat grafting?  My PS says healing should be pretty easy for this even with the donor site since it is just a skin surgery.  No working out for about 2 weeks post OP but after that I can do what I want.  I just can't wait to get it over with.
