Good morning, Loungettes! I just love these half-a$$ed holidays. NOT. Got an activity summary from insurance, says they were billed for a CT with contrast, a fee for some person I've never heard of, and a procedure I didn't have. Called insurance, they're open but can't figure out what's going on. Called the hospital and billing is closed for the holiday. Now I appreciate Veterans and all, but either open everything or close everything!

DorK-Glad you liked the post. I'm having trouble getting on for a long post every day, so some days I just can't fit it in. Wish I could, but I will as often as I can! Maybe we should start a thread on the boards of links to doctor rating sites? Could be interesting, and profitable. Need to set a fee scale: 5 stars = $5,000. 4 stars = $4,000, etc. sounds about right to me! And even If you do have a 20% cop-pay, shouldn't you have hit your yearly out of pocket max by now? With all you've had done I can't imagine you haven't!

Mrs. Vino-Sounds like the little group your psychiatrist put together will be helpful!

Good morning, LORD, it's me again. YOU know Mrs. Vino's friend Teri? Well, yes, of course YOU do, foolish question. Anyway, would YOU please take special care of her today? It would be really nice if everything goes smoothly for her and she gets good results. Thanks, LORD!

Bernie-I'm cringing for you poor burned boob. I remember how much it hurt and thinking the pain would never go away. I'm drinking to a quick recovery for you!

Wahine-so happy your trip is going well! Can't wait to hear all the details and see the pics that did come out. Sounds like your Aunt Nita is quite a character! Good for her!

Chrissy-as long as you are running INTO the lounge and not OUT of the lounge!

Karen-getting to half a bottle does not mean it's time to stop, it means it's time to find someone to dwinky WITH! Having parents is such fun, sometimes.

Beanie-You are correct, only one company does the BRCA 1& 2 mapping, and the OWN the mutated genes. So no one else can do the mapping. They so kindly let us ladies inherit the mutations, but the fact that a company can own a gene mutation or two just hurts my head to think about. The test runs around $3K. Crazy. And people keep talking about "my" bc. Taint mine, no way no how. I didn't go buy it, I'm not making a living off it, I don't even WANT it! Nope, ‘taint mine.

Jaybird-do you get the 3 day weekend? Oops, nope you have one day off. What kind of drama on the London flight, can you tell us?

KatheW-welcome to the lounge! How do you want your personal bar stool decorated?

Tiedye-a Dalmation bar stool for you , it is, my dear! We have several drink fountains that can be filled with the adult beverage of choice, if beer you want beer you shall have!

Greetings to Claire, who is probably out riding or networking or skiing.

Princess Glitter Sizzle says today's DOTD is "The Runner's High"
    1 oz Vodka
    1/2 oz Triple Sec
    1/2 oz Blue Curacao
    1 oz Light Rum
    1 oz Gin
    1/2 oz Melon Liqueur
    1 oz Whiskey
    1/2 oz Raspberry Schnapps
    1 oz Cranberry Juice
    1 oz Pineapple Juice
1 oz Sweet and Sour Mix

    Directions
Shake and strain into a collins glass with ice. Garnish with a flag.

OMG I am totally LMFAO!!!  You girlz had an amazing partay last night! Such fun!!! Loved reading all the banter just now. Wunnerful post as usual, NM....and when I read about Bernie's burns, I hit one of my bad toes right then! Ouch! But I know the burns are much more painful, and sure hoping she is healing well. I really liked what you wrote...And people keep talking about "my" bc. Taint mine, no way no how. I didn't go buy it, I'm not making a living off it, I don't even WANT it! Nope, ‘taint mine.  You are right on with that, sista! Love how you word things. And great pics too!!! Funny!

Sounds like you got your drains out, Allison? What a relief that is! And DorK, how is your arm and your hand? Hope you are getting more and more feeling in that hand. Oh Lori, I love your shoe barstool.....wowsa that is some chair!!! Beans, you don't know how great it is to read your posts!!!! Karen, THANK GOD the house did not catch fire!!!!! DId the cute HTL firemen come out? Very scary when that happens, and no worries.....the memory loss thing happens to all of us! BUt puleez check the oven b4 turning it on again, ok??? Junie and I had fires the SAME DAY awhile ago....my DH almost burnt down our deck...flames were quite high and right by the house. Lisa, darn it, you are working too much, girl!!! Hope you get enuf likker breaks! Yeah, I wanna hear about that flt from London too, Jaybird! It will be great meeting you! And Gail, are you doing ok? Oh yeah, Chrissy popped in too.....hiya down under! No, no dear, not under da table!!!

WE got back to Dublin this afternoon (after my Dad told a corny joke on the bus....they all ADORE him)...and it is so good to be off that thing.....would be better to tour one day, one day off, and repeat. BUt this is a beautiful country as Bernie can attest to, and Lisa has visited here and agrees that is is awesome. We just saw SO much and did SO much in just a week. Will have to look at the pics and remember what we did....LOL. So, have de bubbly chillin, and then will walk to a yummy fish and chips place. Lotta traveling tomorrow...getting home after midnight, sometime Sun morn.

OK......ending my long post. Anyone that was not mentioned, I just forgot what everyone said! But I love all you galz, and hope everyone is having a great weekend!

    Hugsssssss,

    Kathy

NM, thank you for that special prayer for my friend Teri. She has been through so much, she could use good news! Loved your whole post, as usual! Taint mine either, girl!!

Forgot to tell you all that at group, Dr. Davis gave us all the same prescription before we left. It was to do some form of exercise 30 minutes a day! So, for the past two days I have walked two miles! Yeh me! Just got the drains out Weds., so am going slower, and keeping hands in pockets, not pumping my arms, but it's something! I miss what I used to do, will be so happy when next surgery is behind me and I can get back in the swing of things! When I do, I will join another forum on here about exercising for motivation. After all, we're here to party and drink, not exercise, right?? lol

Also, don't know if everyone saw my request, so will ask again. Please PM me your user name, real name, and city, state, anc country, as I am putting together a special project! Thanks to those of you who already have!

Now I'm gonna go clean the kitchen up, then relax on the couch and watch a few episodes of Weeds. Wish I had some, lol. Cheers, my dears! Pants, can I get a special brownie??

Hi everyone, went out to lunch today with the three old chaps i was on the rads bus with.  We all finished this week.  I haven't laughed so much in ages, they are brilliant.  They are all retired and up to no good, they hated the clinic nurse and just slagged her off big time.  the best comment was "I wouldn't trust her to clean out my cow shed"

Gorgeous day here in Denver....need to be sure to get a walk in outside....had one indoors but not the same.....but if I'm going to do that, best start cooking...need to get my challah started....then put cookies up (they cook in a log, so take 1/2 hour + ) and clean while they are baking.....

My DS just made me so proud....I've always been proud of him and knew that he would go far in life, but he just made a decision, that only he could make and it brings tears to my eyes (damm, I would love to cry on this one...tears of joy)....he has decided that after 7 years, no more pot!!!!  now does that mean Mom has to give up drinking so much....

Wishing everyone a good day....Hope to get back before candle lighting...but with the time change, thats just after 4:30....so if I use my time welll.......

Karen, Glad your sons decision made you so happy! How wonderful. OK now, the question everyone wants to ask you.....could he bring all his extra pot to the HTL??? We'll take reallllly good care of it. LOL, I think Allison just mentioned some weed.....  But no Karen, you can keep on drinking!!! You deserve some form of relaxation after all you have been through....and I know you are responsible.

Bernie, Oh I would have loved to have been teeny tiny and in your pocket during that lunch....what fun! Hope you are healing well.

HOORAY Allison, pat yourself on the back for your 2 mi walk! But yeah, you are right, this IS a drinking and fun thread, and if you talk about all your exercize, you will make us feel lazy. LOL. OK, I will pm you right now before I forget!

Gotta get some shut-eye....lots of bubbly, then bourbon.....need to sleep as will be up EARLY! Love and Hugs, and will check in when we are on the other side of the ""pond".

candle lighting is at 4:29....I think I have most everything done except for the salad and hot veggie.....it is really a challange to have everything done this early....

Kathy....I thought about asking DS if he would share, but I'm guessing he may be empty...plus i'm sure his friends want it!!!!

Talked to mom this afternoon and she seems to be taking baby steps....will tell you all more tomorrow...almost out of time....My great aunt passed away on Wednesday....she was my grandmother's little sister...I have very fond memories of times at her house.....DD#2 saw her a few years ago when she was with my parents (DD with grandma)...Mom and Dad took DD#2 to visit my cousin and his mom was there....actually its mom's cousin.....she was suffering was significant dementia then....I'm guessing she's was close to 90..

Well...I best get off the computer and finish up a few last minute things....see everyone tomorrow night...

what does that mean when i read that drinking is especially bad for er+?

i drink...probably more than I should.  am having a pbm in jan.  my mom had estrogen receptive bc...but really didn't drink till after cancer.  years after.  is that what er+ means?  is drinking worse for them?

Haaaallllllooooo, any o you ladies rockin the lounge still? Had to get up for a 2 am confirm call, now gots anudder one at 3 am, dis be de only place I can go drink at still in my pajamas!

    Hi Noodle, welcome,

Smrevere, sorry to be meeting in a place like dis, but... Sorry about your mom's DX and your surgery - like lots of ladies here, I have a crappy family history with BC (rat ba$tard)! Had BMx in august, now waitin on exchange of implants in Jan. But enuf o that, as far as drinking, it's a personal choice, do a reasonable amount of homework and balance it against your quality of life. Most of us on the thread choose to drink, but even if you opt not too, you can drink here virtually any time! No guilt allowed! It's a lot overwhelming, the focus here is fun, yeah with support thrown in now and again! Welcome, cheers, slainte, etc! (DorK, am asking for dispensation for using s*rry
    word, seemed polite).

My bad, Tiedeye, it is you that can make all de puppies in the HTL look gawgeous, grew up with labs, now have learned to luv WD's (wiener dogs) via the HTL, broadening my horizons! Luv de stools.

DorK looks like you got a 2 for 1 post, weird when dat happens, hope de ela-bow is ccoperating! Beans, loverly to hear from ya! Yes, will be checkin in for a virtual shot now and again, here's mud in your eye! Slurp, empty shot glass slams on the bar, Make it a double! Thanks!

All right, between Karen's DS and de Runner's High, do we be needing an upgraded smokin section in de lounge? Hmmmm, yo Pants, we need an air filter and extra snacks for dat one, I am partial to brownies, yes, dose special ones, lol. Cheers Karen, good news in all forms is still good!

Kath sand Jaybird, hope to see pics of yet another HTL meet up,

Well luv to all! Cheers, Beers and No Fears (about dwinkin anyways!). Scuby

smrevere--drinking is one of the "lifestyle" things that has been linked with breast cancer and with recurrence after treatment.  The research on things like drinking, obesity, type of diet, etc cannot show cause and effect, only a correlation.  The reaseon you don't see any statistics in these articles is because the stats aren't that impressive.  The fact remains that, except for the 10 to20% of bc caused by BRCA! or BRCA2 mutations, we don't have any idea how bc starts.

ER+ bc is the most common kind of bc.  The theory is that excessive alcohol consumption somehow affects estrogen, which is what feeds ER+ bc.  Or it affects the immune system that keeps the mutated cells we all develop over time under  control.  No one really knows.

It's hard to take this kind of reserach too seriously.  The American Cancer Society sponsered a big study on women with bc and found that eating a diet high in fruits and veggies, low in fat did not decrease the rate of reccurence or new bc.

My own personal opinion is that the research and medical communities keep up with this kind of "research" so they can "blame  the victim" when we complain about no cure available to us.  But that's just my opinion.   Or so they don't have to feel responsible when the rat bas$ard comes back.  Did  you know that the phrase used when cancer recurs or gets worse during treatment is "the patient failed first line chemotherapy"?  The PATIENT failed?  How about the TREATMENT failed the patient?

OK,, got to get off the soap box and get ready for work.  TTYL!

Thanks for that NM, as I had been wondering too. I'm with you on the treatment failed the patient! I enjoy my cocktails, not giving them up, and if I ever have a recurrence, I will not blame any of my lifestyle habits for it! Prayer is powerful, and I pray everyday that this ratbastard goes away for all of us and never shows its ugly face again!

Hope you all have a fun, beautiful, blessed day! We are going to the Festival of Trees and lights today, very fun event where different designers have decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, etc., and it's all on display and for sale. They also have a sweet shop and a gift shop, and activities for kiddos like making ornaments, gingerbread houses, lots of other stuff. All proceeds go to our local Kosair Children's Hospital. Cheers my  Dears!

First of all, want to wish Kathy safe travels on her way home, and hoping that she can meet up with our Jaybird. Hope you can get your tootsies tended to too.

Allison great job on all you are doing, just be careful and don't OVER DO it. The elk sounds yummy. When I lived in MI, they had a restaurant that served all wild game, I had some yummy caribou.

Bernie, laughter is the best medicine, with or without wine, but agree that it makes it a little bit better!

Karen, way to go for your son, giving up the Willie. Wish mine would!

DorK, I was a party pooper last night and went to bed early, was up too late with you on Thursday night! And so good to see Stella. How is your arm doing, you bad girl......better get that splint back on.

Beans...........is that you in your new avatar? I knew you were an angel, look ...... you have a glowing halo. And a dorgeous (one of my daughters words when she was wittle) one at that. OMG, I am so glad you found the salmonello's.............a while back I looked and looked for those things, but could not find them to save my life.

Smrevere and Noodle, welcome to our thread..........or should I say our Lounge, The Hot Tatties Lounge. I too am sorry you have to be here, but must say, this place is one of the best to be!

Scuby, a 2 and 3 am confirm call? WTH.............you must be dealing with anudder country? And I guess the "S" is ok to use now and then. You said it well about dwinking.

NM, you can be on that soap box as often and as long as you want. Just hope someone doesn't get too tipsy and knock you off! Great explanation from you as well to our new friend here. As for me, I choose to dwink!

How about some Wet Willies today?

    OOPS WRONG ONE!

    NO, NOT THAT ONE EITHER

    NOW THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!

10 oz Margarita Mix.........6 oz 7-Up........3 oz of Wodka (or more)............3 cups ice

Toss all ingredients into blender and mix until ice is crushed----then sit back and relax!!

BottomZ up, down and all around.

For me, I just pick up on a word from our posts. This one was about the mention of Hooch. Awhile back we had a ting going and we called it "Willie". So I just search in google images till I find something that strikes me. I first started with Willie Cocktail, and it just went from there.

Have fun on your outing, hoping to see some pics of the designer trees.

    Look no further Scuba_duchess.....

From the Minnesota Huntsman website.  You could make with beef/pork too.

Here's ours: DILLIGAF Hunt Club "Dutch Oven" Chili (we don't make it in a Dutch
Oven, but if you have ever slept in a sleeping bag after having a big bowl, the
name will soon be all too clear!)

3lb. Venison (we don't add pork, but it
    does add flavor)

    Three Vadalia onions chopped

    Three - 14oz cans
    of chopped stewed Tomatos

One - 15.5oz. can each of (Bush's "Chili Magic"
flavors; Louisiana, Texas, Original and one can of Bush's Maple Cured Bacon
    baked beans)

Two packs of McCormick (Hot) Chili powder

    Two beers
    (Brand optional)

Brown venison and drain any fat or
    liquid.

    Saute onions until clear.

    Add everything (beer last) into
a large pot and let simmer for a few hours (or as long as you can stand smelling
    it without tasting it)

It gets better with every serving!
    Enjoy!
