Illinois ladies facing bc

Timbucktu I am so sorry to hear about Tuesday and hope this does not happen again. We really need to be pushy and advocate for proper treatment. Not sure why there was such blatant disregard for important information. Do you have someone who goes with you ? I am glad you were able to go and get help.
Being a bit scared, apprehensive, nervous, and everywhere in between is normal, but it will get better. Darn, those of us who are through the major amt. of our txs. are scared that now we are not doing very much --- so there are two sides. It is difficult to "weather the treatment period" sometimes, but you will be find more strength as time goes on.
Thinking about you
Hugs Jackie

Well....where to begin. As most of you realize I often have my heart plastered all over my sleeve and three pages later !!!!! so I'll just say what an honor to have friends like you. I am richer than anyone I know right now.
BTW --- no one is off my smarmy hook.....the above also includes Spunky, Robo Corrinne and any of the new ones who will become old --- all in good time, whether at the party or not.
Happy healing hugs, Jackie

I had such a wonderful time! I marvel at what a great group of strong courageous women we are! Thank you to Michelle and all her elves!
Glad you all enjoyed the foobs, I knew this group would get a kick out of them.
And I hope you all enjoy both teas. And I learned so much from all of you- but especially I learned what 3D nips look like! That was priceless.

Timbucktu, I'm sorry you had to go through that- hope you never have to experience anything like that again. I know I had to put my foot down and stop people several times during my treatment (mostly issues with medical staff not wanting to use my power port..nothing as bad as your steroid issue.. but still)- I hope your med team get together on the same page and fast!
My hugs and best wishes to everyone in treatment, or recovering. I'm probably not going to be around much the next couple of weeks, so happy holidays to you all!
And, most important, WHERE ARE THE PHOTOS???!!!

Timbuktu.............I did the 3 week series of CMF. I had six treatments spaced three weeks apart. That was five years ago! I don't think they were even doing a 2 week series at the time I had chemo. The every 3 week series has worked well for me so far!
I can't believe that nurse made the steroid decision on her own. That's outrageous. I'm so glad you are doing O.K. now! Hang in there! CMF chemo is usually very doable......although it's not really something we actually want to do.
Hugs,
Rita

Morning gals! I don't ever post here, but Jackie is such a good friend of mine, that I HAD to see y'all's picture! This thread gives her so much joy, and I hear about you all the time!
She has told me about last years party, & how she missed it, but she got her "favorite tea"...and finally, THIS year she got to meet all of you! I'll bet she is walking on air!
Thanks for making her so happy! By the way...what a BEAUTIFUL picture! You gals look so happy!

Thanks for posting the picture, Laura!
Hi Chevy! So glad you stopped by our thread and posted! We all had a great time at the party and it was about time that Jackie got to join us!
Jackie, I'm glad that you're in the picture this year, too! :-)
I'm off to get my contact lenses checked and then to pick up a head of cabbage so I can make some veggie soup this afternoon! I hope everyone is having a good day!

Hey....good morning everyone. It's gloomy here, and it has been raining off and on since we got home Saturday night. You are now talking to weather depression gloomy gus, but it will get better. Wanted to share something else here:

Thanks to BJ and the elves for putting on an incredible party. I had such a wonderful time meeting so many incredible women and eating and laughing and sharing. I literally floated into my house I was so uplifted by all of you.
Bless you all. I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Kelly
Spunky.....that is just what you are suppose to do.....float into your house. Even though this is my first time ( obviously long after my diagnosis and tx. ) I have read something similar from all the "newer -- recently diagnosed " ladies who attend one of the get-togethers. You/we were all full of such major apprehensions and deep vulnerabilities right after being diagnosed. I wish all the new gals could get to a get-together as soon as possible. It is I think hard to see how life will go on and regain vibrant meaning and have a shape that fits and works. It will and it does.....in whatever form that comes --- and do know Kelly and anyone here who is taking the beginning steps.....there may be lots of hurdles, some difficult times, maybe some depression.....we never know the exact things that may come up --- but you have so much help, love, care, and ladies/friends who want nothing more than to have you lean on them while your going this way. We wish to return the help and comfort we were given -- and that is why we are here.
We have always needed each other.
Hugs, Jackie

Good Morning Girls....Laura thank you for posting the pic. I know there are lots more pics out there so post away. Yes, life does go on after bc. It will get better in time. Jackie has said it so beautifully that we wish to return the help and comfort that we all received from each other here during our txs.
Our little get together is our way of being normal. A wonderful group of ladies who have fun laughing and enjoying life. We are always full of surprises!!. For those starting out in tx it will be a long road, doable but there is a end to it. Just take one day at a time, rest and journal your thoughts.
I am so glad to see that everyone had a wonderful time at the holiday get together.
Lago.. the holiday lights tour is done by Chicago Trolley Company. I think this would be a wonderful fun trip. Chocolate martinis at the InterContinental. Yummy !!
Jackie...hope you are enjoying all your goodies and yes it was a great pleasure to finally meet you. Are you still floating on cloud 9?
Rita...thanks for arranging this. You are one special lady.
Kelly... hang in there . Your angels are watching over you!! take baby steps.
Just wanted to stop by and say hi. Need to rest so back to my couch. Thank goodness for Kindle books and Jan's green tea.
Have a wonderful Monday....remember to be healthy...be happy and enjoy life.

Yes Bj......my cloud continues to carry me all over. My new motto is.....a few chocolates a day will surely keep the Dr. away. I had no idea that Rita had such a hand in getting me there, but the last thing I could be is sorry. It was such a thrill to ( at long, long, long last ) kiss envy goodbye ( not that it was a harmful kind ) and be with all the great friends I have the honor and privilege to talk to and enjoy every day --- all of you who coached me so kindly and lovingly through my 6 mos. trial by fire --- with soft quiet tears in my eyes now, you helped me win back everything I thought I was close to losing. There are no adequate words. I said a prayer for help one day and did something I never thought I could ---- got on a blog, and not just any one......I checked into several, but this is the one that indicated --- the rest is beautiful history.
Hugs, Jackie

What a great holiday party... thanks to blackjack and, of course, her elves. I feel like spunky about floating back in to the house after our get-togethers. Truly an uplifting gathering.
We were supposed to get started on our drive down to Arizona today, but I finally convinced my DH to see his doctor before we leave so we hope to get going tomorrow, providing he gets his doctor's permission. He has had one horrible cold and chills for a week now and I fear that maybe it is turning into pneumonia or some other infection. I am getting my turn to take care of HIM for a change. And as you can all imagine.... I owe him alot of tender loving care after him taking care of me so well during all this BC "crap". Always something!
My good news is that since my ONC changed me from Femara to Aromasin a couple weeks ago, I continue to do so much better. I have been excited every day to find that I have so much more energy and less joint and bone pain. My trigger thumb is almost gone. I can't say that over time, I may end up with many of the same side effects, but for now.... yeah!
Lemondrop... thinking of you this week as you consult with Dr H at NW. She will lay out your options and let YOU make the decisons. Praying for others going through treatments and surgeries. Let us know how it goes.

Yes, thanks Laura for posting the picture......such a great setting for a crowd like us.
BJ, glad you the week to rest. You must feel proud of your accomplishment!
Have a good one!

Hi all you fellow IL gals.
It was great to meet some of you at the holiday gathering. What a wonderful thing Rita has done to bring you all together and Blackjack did by organizing such a beautiful event. I do not take part much, but I am with you all and spirit as I hear about you so much from my little sister, Laura GTO. (she may be taller than me, but who measures anything anymore).
I wanted to let you all know that if you are interested, I have been doing regular thermgrams for the past 4 years to monitor my breast health. I love them. They are safe, painless, and no more radiation (thank you very much). I have tried several places, in the Chicago area and found a doc I absolutely love. She works in Woodstock, but is working with one of my docs in DuPage to do them once a month for those of us who cannot get up there. PM me if you are interested in her contact info.
Also, if anyone is interested in a wonderful place that does integrative treatments, check out Sanoviv.com. I know of several folks who have gone there for everything from breast cancer treatments to removing mercury amalgams. It is a wonderful place that features a spa like hospital experience with all organic food. All the rooms face the ocean and everyone gets a personalized treatment program. If you go register before the end of the year, you can get a discount. Check out their website, and contact me if you want to talk to people who have been there. If you have finished treatments, it is a wonderful place to go to learn how to detoxify the body and get on a wellness program. The hospital is non profit. I have met the president of Sanoviv. She is an amazing woman, a thyroid cancer survivor, and has such a passion for helping others.
I know you all love quotes as I do too, so I am encouraging you to check out pinterest.com
WARNING! This website is very addictive. It is way too much fun, filled with great recipes, ideas and inspiration. So DO NOT go there unless you have time to waste. And if you go there and get hooked, don't complain to me. I warned you!

HI there.. Sorry I have been so quiet.. just was going through all the pre-trial testing and didn't want to 'jinx' anything.. I PASSED as of an hour ago and will be starting in Indianapolis on the 16th.. as exciting as it is, my one spot in the liver CONTINUES to grow.. so it is a much needed treatment.. I will have to go there 3 times the first week, but then once a week for a while then every three weeks...These two drugs show lots of promise and I love my new Onc.. as I have to switch to the Onc in Indianapolis for now.. Otherwise I feel pretty well now that i've had a 7 week break!!
I am so sad I couldn't make it to the party this year and didn't meet Jackie..
I will do what I can to make it next year.. but we ended up having Gab's B-Day party that day.. SHE IS TWO and I was there to celebrate!! YAY!! Even had a spoonful of cake!!Welcome to all the new girls.. So sorry you are here, but as you have figured out, it's the best place on this board!!

Good to hear from you Mak.....as always you sound like you have one finger on the most aggressive way to hit this thing. I work on a per diem basis but if I know in advance I can refuse work and drive you. Are you flying? If you have to go three times the first week, would it not be easier to just stay in a hotel? Also did the onc alert you as to what side effects you might face? I am glad that good options are presenting themselves and I admire your tenacity.

Mak - So nice to hear from you, we missed you at the luncheon. Little Gabby is two! And how great that you were able to celebrate with her!

You were missed, Mak, but YAY for getting into the Indy study. If you couldn't spend the day with us, I can't think of a better way for you to have spent it than celebrating Gaby's 2nd birthday.
What a fun party it was, and what an incredible group of ladies. I loved seeing the old friends again, and especially, meeting the new ones. Putting "real" faces to the online names is so much more rewarding. Thank you to everyone who was able to make, and most of all, a BIG THANK YOU to Bj for all her hard work!

mak - It's great that the Lymph node did NOT grow...try to concentrate on that news. AND the fact that heart and brain is sqeaky clean! Everything's crossed that the damn liver "spot" disappears with the new treatment. You know...I am cheering you on!

WHO HAD CAMERAS ON SATURDAY? My group shot is not the best quality. Can someone e-mail me a high res group shot?

Good morning everyone......and I missed you to Mak, but Gabby only gets to be two once, so I understand.....and there is next yr. Glad you will be doing something relatively close to home this time too. Fingers crossed and lots of visualization that it does everything you need it to.
Ok.....it snowed here yesterday -- can you believe that? Must have not read my Daily Planner or someone would have seen snow was not in it. Oh well --- it didn't really stay so guess I could call it an almost snow. Not sure what will happen today.....I got up late and couldn't focus on the news too well. I think it is part of my catch up procedures for this past very happy week-end.
BTW --- hope you are being good Bj and staying on your couch getting healthy. That Dr. was a nice man signing you out early so don't give him reason to doubt his "good" judgement.
Laura....are your feet back to normal.....I hope....Illinois Man keeps talking about you too. I think he feels special that you noticed him. You probably didn't notice he is a little shorter than me, but heck, he's my horse if he never wins a race as they say.
Hope you all have a great day....as always .
Hugs, Jackie

Good morning everyone -
It was so great to see/meet everyone on Saturday. I had a very nice time. Thanks so much to Michelle/Blackjack and her team for putting it all together. You made it extra, extra special.
I can't wait to see more pictures. I already saved the one that Laura posted - it's an awesome photo!
Cheers & hugs - Julie A.

Hopefully I will get some pictures up today when I get home. I'm still running crazy. Went out last night and have a learning Thingy tonight. Currently still at work
Mammal I too am hopeful this trail resolves that liver mets. I have a good feeling about this.0 -
Sorry I missed the party but I hope I can do one in the future. Too much going on in the family right now. I appreciated seeing the group photo! My treatment is back to weekly, starting today, and I'm happy. I hope my counts stay up enough to continue like that so I can get it done! Makmak--good luck with the trial and thanks for doing it! It will help others for sure and sounds great for you!

Finally here are some pictures. I included 2 group shots since some people smiled more in one photo than the other. Next time can we coordinate our smiles!
