Karen, so sweet of u to want to exchange cards. I will skip, as we quit sending cards 6 years ago. I would feel bad not reciprocating. I do everything for the Holiday's, every year, cook, clean, decorate, shop, wrap, etc.. Well, Dec 2005 my mother was dying of cancer, so I told my DH I couldn't do it all, I needed help. He wanted me to do the cards, and I just had way too much on my plate, so I told him if he wanted to send cards, send cards. Take a big fat guess at what happened! Uh Huh! Then the past 5 years, Christmas always put me in a funk, missing my mom. Last year, DH and I got in a huge fight, and he pulled out a suitcase and was about to leave! He said he couldn't take it anymore. That's when I had my wake-up call. Realized that life had to go on, without my Mom, and I would be OK. I miss her very much, but now choose to let her memory make me happy, not sad. I really enjoyed decorating this year! It was fun, and added some of my mom's favorite ornaments to my tree.

Undercover - sorry I passed out last night...must say that is so cool you were up all night with sibs laughing before surgery. My DH tried to help me calm down, but it was not possible. That is so awful how long you had to wait, really sucks. Yeah, no one who hasn't been there seems to get it, so glad we have each other here!! Oh my, too, what a story about your friend and her wig, that sounds so awful.

Mrs V - Howdy chica! That's neet you have skipped doing holiday cards. I was thinking of only sending ones to people who send me one...I liked NM's diagram of what to do. I really could do without all that. I've been going nuts trying to get stuff out to siblings and nieces and nephews. I think I stress to o much and no one gives a cat puke anyway. I'm sorry about your mom and totally understand as mine has been gone so long now, but I still miss her so much, just had an amazing dream about her last night. Good idea to let the memories make you happy, I will take that to heart as I know my mom would want that for me.

Good morning, Loungettes! Looking for something with caffeine in it this am, has night number 3 of not sleeping well and having nightmares. Weird nightmares about violent things happening while I'm at work. I know some of this is triggered by the latest Virginia Tech shootings, I was home recovering from one of the first surgeries. Dduring the first one, had satellite TV set up for the first time in a few years and that was one of the first things I followed. In counseling I'm talking a lot about the beginning of the bc horror show in my life. And there are some elements from television shows and books and movies I've seen. Still, it's a bit unsettling. Probably I need to check out my meds and make sure I'm still taking everything correctly, but unless I find something like that I'm chalking it up to anesthesia after-effects. One more reason not to have anesthesia again!
DorK-Lori does a great job with the DOTDs, doesn't she? I never worry about that when I have to be off the boards for a little bit. Had a little baking binge yesterday, made Oatmeal Lace cookies, Lavender cookies. Got the stuff for my trademark White Chocolate Cranberry Cake. Got to get out the fancy bundt pan!
Husker-I can understand getting as much in as possible once the deductible has been met! Now that things like colonoscopies and mammograms have to be covered independently of the deductible and out of pocket I wonder if more people will get them done or put them off. Time will tell.
Karen-I'm probably not being a model patient, but I'm being a good one. I can actually breathe better through my nose most of the time (still some healing to do) and feeling a return of energy that is either from better quality sleep or because it's that point in the healing process, either or both is likely. Go back to work this evening, going to give myself a couple of light days this weekend, than I should be able to start walking for exercise again. Actually looking forward to getting the walks in again! I did notice the little Freudian slip-your DD asking for help with her SINUS project-it must be hard to be doing the post-menopausal think while living with a female teenager. Talk about a challenge!
Tiedye-You should have gotten a detailed schedule before you started chemo that would let you know if this blood work is routine or a "special addidition." There's just so much info that if you don't get a calendar it's easy to get lost quickly. It's probably routine. What's with the same day node biopsy thing? Did you know there was a question there? Shouldn't you have that info BEFORE a plan of treatment is decided on? I know it's been a long time since I gave chemo for a living and things have changed a lot but that just sounds like there was a screw-up somewhere? If you've already started treatment why did you need that node biopsied? If the biopsy results affect treatment why wasn't it done before treatment started? Just seems off to me.

Karen-oh, dear, I cannot imagine how you feel after finding the apology letter. Although I disagree that a 13 year old should never apologize for being a 13 year old, but then I'm not a mom so what do I know? When she gets home from school sit her down and explain your point of view and make your own apology. While it's not fair she should have a mom with bc, that is a fact and it's better to help her learn about the effects of the medications we are taking on our emotional responses-that's a valuable lesson at any age.
Juliet-I'm with you, white chocolate is the BEST form of chocolate! I suppose I should start collecting colonoscopy preparation tips, since I'm sure I'll get forced into having one sooner or later.
Scuba-I've just upgraded my personal cell phone and have one that will allow me to do things like check e-mail and BCO, once I figure out how. Then we can make appointments with each other to take sanity breaks together!
Rebel: I know those coiled key ring/gambling card thingys. My cousin and I collect the cards. Don't use them enough to ever get anything out of them, but it's fun to get the free hats and mugs and stuff that come with the card. I can imagine how horrible your friend felt, but I bet no one even looked up from their machine when she did that! Poor lady!
Mrs. Vino-I send Christmas cards because I ENJOY writing them out and mailing them. Don't care if I get any back. Gives me a chance to play with my pens and inks and sealing waxes and such. And I am feeling better every day, thank you!

Oh this place is busy with drunken ladies. I twipped over so many of you dis morning when I got up from my hammock. What happened? Lori, I enrolled in a program through work and my insurance company. The more I walk and exercise, the more money I get in my health care spending account. While I am driving those around me crazy wif my "walking obsession", I am working feverishly for anudder $100 bottles of beer. Seriously though, I want that money. If I can not walk (or shall i say shake) enough, I can always stop in my office and go to the "Go Zone zone". It is a cubicle with a scale and BP monitor. I hook my pedometer into it, then step on de scale and get my blood pressure taken. That is 500 points per month. I only need anudder 410 points for de next hundred dollars but hoping I can get there without going into work. I get points other ways. I log in my daily activity. Ya see, Stella cheats. She enters that she has sex five times a week, 45 minutes of vigorous activity, she also rides her bicyle a few times a week and dances on Tues and Thurs nights. Ya see, I can do two self entries a day for 10 points each. It is fun cheating the system for mo money for mo dwinks.That Stella is a naughty little cheater.

Been busy here. Getting into de holiday spirit. DH and I went out and got a tree yesterday. I picked out de most beautiful tree and it looks so purdy. I had on Christmas music and found myself singing. I did not think I'd find de Christmas spirit since I have surgery five days before but me found it....yeeee haw. I am not done decorating my twee but will post pics when I am done. For those of you that were here last year, here was my twee just after decorating it. Of course I had to keep de tenders biddy keeping my tree hydrated. It kept dwying up. I will do better dis year.

Karen, sorry about de chit with your DD. Don't whip yourself over these little fallouts. We all have them from time to time. So sweet of her to write you a note. I liked Bernie's idea of just telling her that you love her. And NM's idea of telling her that you are having a difficult time with things, blame the drugs. If you take tamox, blame it on that. That way, she will know that there will be an end to the misery when you go off de drugs. Stella blames eberyting on tammy. tammy is de reason I have gained weight, de reason I turn into a beotch, de reason I cwy, de reason I foyget tings etc etc. Blame de beast. Your DD sounds like a sweet girl and she is in her early teens, they are the hardest years if you ask me. Hang in there and you two goils enjoy the holiday season and take the time to bond. Take her out to look at nail polish and make "friend time" with her and treat her like a friend. I used to like taking my DD out shopping. We would use fake names. She would call me Ariana and I would call her Jade. Those memories are special.

OOOH yay! A belated bday partay for our beloved Green Bean!!! Yippeeeeee! Haven't even started dwinking yet in the weal world, but will prolly start soon. In the meantime, how bout a Vodka/Baileys/Kahlua, Pants? When we used to be in 1st class a lot, I would get smashed on these! Then they stopped having either Baileys or Kahlua, I forget which one. DORK-Not even close to done w/surgeries. I'm looking like humpty dumpty over here. They still have to put me back together. And send me that pedometer,i'll put 12k on in an hour.
