how about drinking?

Hey ladies, checking in late. Allison, so glad to hear no clot. Do hope you take it absolutely slow and easy for a bit, your body is telling you to. Do we need another hawk to watch you?
DorK, glad it was a good night!
U-Rebel, like Karen, had recon with BMx and was in 3 days. Think weight gain doesn't change implants but may compress them if you gain a lot? My exchange (12 days and counting) is out patient. I would talk to another doc to be comfortable. I got 3 opinions before BMx just cause I wanted to feel 100% sure. My PS is probably the sexiest PS anyone has, check him out
http://www.jeffersonplasticsurgery.com/philadelphia-plastic-surgeons-copit.html
Is a bit short, but I can deal... Plus he says f word and talks about drinking, maybe thats just to make me feel more comfortable?
Karen, glad you found your scarf, hate when I lose stuff. Hope Mischa is loving you!
Other good news, booked our next dive trip, 4/21/12 to Grand Cayman's East End. Cruise ships go into West End, the East End is quieter and more remote. Will dive a wreck on the West
End one afternoon. Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Productive day at work ,lol!
It's now Thirsty-day, new BOTD is Struise Pannepot Wild, a Belgian Quad, 10% alcohol, Happy Holidays! Trying to grab some more sleep, otherwise, getting my arse up and to the gym!
Hugs Allison, rest well!

Good morning, Loungettes! Pretty frosty morning , here, going to wait a while before taking my walk I think. 16 degrees, feels like 0 degrees with the breeze according to my info. Felt like it when I put Sadie out. No one in my family seems to be able to remember Sadie's name-Mom calls her Maggie, my brother calls her Sophie! She didn't seem to mind when she opened her presents, though!

Juliet-I'll join you in that sherry!

Mrs. Vino-Get a good night's sleep, that will help everything, always does. Love the idea of a back rub until you fall asleep!

DorK-I've always felt that this thread was a testament to our ability to still enjoy some part of life, even if only virtually, despite rat ba$tard's presence. We all know all too well what the serious and frightening side is like, and we respond to that when it comes up. Then we remind ourselves that there are still good things in life and work on moving on. Glad you're having a good time with your folks, DON"T OVERDO IT! You are still healing and need to let your body divert energy to the healing process! OOOh, chocolate cupcakes with crème de menth frosting, I NEED one or two (dozen) of those!

Karen-all this time I thought Denver got lots more snow than Maine, but here I find out you are getting spring in December! Ok, so it's been an odd weather year all around. But the streets and driveways are a mess here, too.

Undy-My recipe for Kahlua is to boil 4 cups of water and 3 cups of sugar for 10 minutes. Add ¼ cup good quality freeze dried coffee, OR ½ cup exspresso. Warning-this will foam up quite a bit, you want to be in a pretty big pan for this recipe. Boil 10 more minutes, cool a bit, add 3 cups (1/5) of vodka. In glass bottles put a whole vanilla bean cut in half the long way, then fill with the vodka/coffee/sugar mixture. Put in a dark place with steady temperature above freezing and age for 6 months. I vary the flavor by adding flavored expresso. The recipe calls for decanting and filtering before bottling for drinking, but I like the vanilla flavor so I drink it from the original bottle. Enjoy!

Bernie!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!

Scuby-good point about interviewing PS's. I interviewed 4 before I choose. Makes a huge difference if you are comfortable with the doc! I wonder if I could learn to dive at my age? I love snorkeling, but haven't been since my last cruise and that was more than a decade ago. How big is the cruise ship you'll be on?

Princess Glitter Sizzle says todays DOTD is The Chocolate Mint Cupcake
1/2 oz Peppermint Schnapps
3/4 oz Dark Rum
1 oz Chocolate Syrup
1 oz Heavy Cream
1 oz Whipping Cream
1 oz Coconut CreamDirections
Pour the dark rum, peppermint schnapps, coconut cream, chocolate syrup and heavy cream into a blender with two cups of crushed ice. Blend until smooth and creamy. Pour as much of the mixture as you can into a hurricane glass, leaving a little room at the top. Top with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry, and serve.0 -
Hey NM, I won't be on a ship, we are staying at a small dive resort on the quiet side of the island, away from the cruise ships. Neither me or DH would be good candidates for a cruise I think...

Gary and Martin were standing at the urinals in a public lavatory, when Gary glanced over and noticed that Martin's penis was twisted like a corkscrew.
"Wow," Gary said. "I've never seen one like that before."
"Like what?" Martin said.
"All twisted like a pig's tail," Gary said.
"Well, what's yours like?" Martin said.
"Straight, like normal," Gary said.
"I thought mine was normal until I saw yours," Martin said.
Gary finished what he was doing and started to give his old boy a shakedown prior to putting it back in his pants.
"What did you do that for?" Martin said.
"Shaking off the excess drops," Gary said. "Like normal."
"F***s!," Martin said. "And all these years I've been wringing it."0 -
WOW active lounge last night, and I had to conk out early! Glad several gals were around to dwink wid DorK....fun party!!!
NM, I think Lisa is NOT going on a cruise ship, as she mentioned diving on the other side of the island. When the cruise ships come in it is a nightmare of tons of tourists (as you prolly know). I used to make Kahlua many many yrs ago and liked it too. If I weren't in the middle of (for 7 yrs!) redoing my recipe book, I could prolly find my recipe and compare it to yours! How sweet of your family to get gifts for Sadie, even tho they get her name wrong! That is nice of them. Our furbabies get stuff in their stockings, and a special meal, but thats it! Love your posts as always, and yummmmm that dwink sounds sooooo good. So glad there are 0 calories here in the HTL!!!
Unde, Yeah I think the TE's are what makes a long hospital stay. WHen I had my bilat mast and TE recon at the same time, I was told it was not the mast causing the pain, it was the TE placement. I would think it would require at least 1-2 hospital nights, and not out-patirent. The exch is out-patient, and so much easier! Glad you are interviewing PS's, that is very smart to do that!
Lisa, SO glad you have your next diving trip booked!! YAHOO! Something to look forward to, and enough time to be healed. I am so happy for you!
Allison, Hope you are feeling better this am, and the pain has subsided!!!! Hoping it was just from over-doing it after surgery, and like NM (I think) mentioned, might be a pulled muscle or something. You sure gave us a scare, but I still am so thankful that you were able to let us know you were at the hospital!!!
Ohhhhhh lookie, "Flash" just brought a large tray of "Chocolate Mint Cupcake" dwinks, plus some actual cupcakes to go with them. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Gotta get some energy to go back and work in the attic....oh there is so much to do there, and prolly need to buy even more large bins.
Hugsssssssss,
Kathy
OOPS I took too long to finish my post (blame it on DH coming in to talk to me!) and missed LIsa's and Bernie's posts!

Happy Thirstdey loungettes,
Let me start with Scuby - a big congrats to you for booking your diving trip. I will drink to that! This to me is signfying getting back to life before de beast! I am excited for you. Sending you a big stinky DorkY hug ((((LISA)))). I am thrilled for you and I will dwink to that!! And I agree, your doctor is a hot hotty! I like that he says the F word. My dearly departed Dr. John also used de F word. I had a little tear when I pulled up the link and clicked onto my prior PS who has departed this world and gone to heaven after fighting like a warrior with lung cancer. I had to click into the link and when I was done salivating at his photo, I clicked into my deceased PS's photo. It is evident that Dr John was undergoing treatment when his photo was taken, i can tell by the red face. His appearance really changed from the time I met him to his last days. I was blessed by God to have him work despite his illness. Seeing his face this morning made me drop a few tears
. Point is, this group has made me feel like family. btw, Lisa, you might get PM's asking about the group - I once posted the link and got a few inquiries from others who much have searched Jefferson PS here. Each person ended up chosing our loving group of doctors after interviewing and have been very satisfied.Unde, I REALLY wish I had even thought to interview PS's. When I was diagnosed, I was given the name of the BS by my primary care doctor. He was also my sister's surgeon so I ASSUMED that the PS that he partnered up with would also be good. I SHOULD have fired his a$$ after my initital consultation as I never had that warm and fuzzy feeling that I deserved. I just went with the flow and allowed him to do the recon. I attibute many of my recon issues to the butcher job this guy did on me. When I showed my incicions to my sister and my dearly departed friend Cindy, they both said that I should move on. But I have huge issues with CHANGE and let this a$$hole butcher me even more in trying to fix the mess he made. I only changed when my friend Cindy MADE the appointment for me to see her PS (who had done a beautiful job on he). My angel, Cindy, actually picked me up and drove me to my first appointment. I call her an angel because she has since passed away (de tears are flowing in thinking how much I would love to hug her now
. I would not have made the change had she not made that appointment and drug my hard head by de hair and drove me to de city. In hindsight, I am so sorry that I did not leave that pig doctor, and also slice the tires of his fancy Porche on my way out. I could go on about the things he said and did to me but it is painful to think about him. My point - if at any time you do not feel that warm n fuzzy feeling with a dr on your team, RUN and run fast. Do not be a stubborn ahole like me and MOVE on. Unde', I apologize for not addressing your inquiry last night. I blame de JD. NM, another great post from you. I remember when we was little, we used to post around de same time in the morning, around 7am. Thanks again for the great advise. I have not peaked todey but the area feels much better. I will take it easy as I know these days are critical for my recovery. And girl, I am sorry that your family does not know the name of your dear Sadie. How sad is that, she is YOUR baby. Ugh. At least they did not come up with rude names for her as my DH does with my little rescued Bella. He used to call her Bruta which means ugly in Italian. He refused to call her by her real name, Isabella or Bella but now calls her Izzy. I am glad that Sadie did not mind and enjoyed her gifts.
Karen, happy Spring in Denver. We had a warm spell last week but it has since gotten much colder, it is now 26 degrees which I believe is the coldest it has been. Enjoy the beauty of the day and spend time with Misha outdoors.
Bernie, love love love your jokes. I hope you are feeling well and fully recovered from the rads. I am sending you a hug, just because I want to ((((Bernie)))).
I have more to say about my parents visit but have to get moving. I am still in my robe and slippers. I am having my parents for lunch and have to start preparing for them. Me and my siblings are trying so hard to show them what life would be like for them should they surrender and move back home where they need to be. Please pray that my Dad will let go of his palm trees and multiple acres of land and sell their home and come back to where they will be showered with love on a daily basis.
Where is Wahine dis aye-em??
Allison, how are you feeling todey, sweetie? Gosh I was shaken when I got de news of a possible clot. I am praying for ya honey and hope you are feeling much better today.
I have probably bumped a few of you as it has taken me awhile to write all this. I nearly lost my post so am going to hit de submit button. Rounds for all ye goils.
CheerS!

Awww Dork, you need some big hugs today (((((Dorothy))))). So sad seeing your late PS's photo again, and recalling your dear late friend, Cindy. Glad you were able to shed more tears, as they were both special people in your life, and I know you miss them a lot. THat was great that CIndy got you to the good PS! I nearly had an experience like you, and changed just about 3 days before surgery was scheduled. I wish you had not gone thru that! I would have been butchered too. I heard about a gal he did right after that, and she looked so bad she would not even show her husband. These horrid PS's should be hung from their balls!!! And the horrid PS I almost had surgery with, was also partnered with my good BS! In his case, apparently he does good cosmetic work, but when it came to BC patients, he had no empathy, and didn't even care at all. He had lost a SIL to the beast, and after that I guess he didn't care how he butchered any BC patients. SO glad you had this surgery with a good PS, and I know the results will be wonderful. Hope you DO take it easy though and let it all heal correctly!!!
Luv ya,
Katrinka da dwinka
P.S. Just saw your addition to your post...hoping and praying your parents DO decide to move there!!!

RIP Dr. John Moore.

Scuby--oops, not sure how I got the idea you were going on a cruise, can I blame it on anesthesia brain? ?? I still wish you a wonderful time!
DorK- I used to post in the am before I left for work at the university, so the time would be right about 7 am almost every am. Now that I work weekends I don't get up as early in the ams, and it's not as regular. Things do change, don't they? This time of year makes thinking about those who have died sadder, somehow. I've shed a tear or 2 myself recently, mostly for my Dad and my Grandmother.
That my folks don't remember Sadie's name is actually kind of funny. In Mom's case it's another example of her memory failing. For my brother and his wife, they have only met her a couple of times and are really caught up in their own stuff right now. When my brother gets done school they may be moving out of state for him to work, something I think they kind of want to do and are looking for an excuse to. So they're minds are in other places. They know how important she is to me, even if Mom thinks it's unhealthy to have a dog. Just another thing for me to deal with.
Time to take said Sadie for a walk, so more latah!

Hello, ladies. Sorry I have missed the par-tay the last few evenings. Been dealing with my pathology report that just came in from my surgery yesterday. My surgeon is on vacation (but of course) and the nurse was very chipper about all my results, including telling me there was a third type of cancer (well, 4, actually, if you count that I had LCIS, DCIS, IDC and now ILC)...but hey, no biggie, it was small...um...whatever. Then my primary care doc, who is also a good friend, called last night and said she was concerned about how small the margins were in some areas, and what were they planning to do now that they found the 4th kind of cancer? Um. I don't know, you tell me? So I have a call into the breast center to see if they can reach my surgeon or someone can give me a better idea of what I'm up against. But of course, all of this stuff has happened over the holidays which has just added to my frustration.
But I'm back to work (yay!). The day of my surgery, my entire office wore pink to work and then had themselves photographed in our studio (I work at an ad agency) and by the time I got home my entire FB page was covered wtih group photos of my co-workers wearing pink and holding signs saying, "We love you!" It was so cool.
And, I am BACK IN THE SADDLE and teaching Spinning this Sunday. I can't WAIT!
So, what were we all drinking last night and what did I miss. Must go stalk the posts from last night now!0 -
Welcome back, Spinner! But what $hit you have had to deal with. Hope you do get a call back, and that it is nothing major. Would love to see a pic of your office gang wearing pink for you! That is awesome.
Dork, What a nice picture of your late dr. Such a handsome man, and I know you have said how kind and nice he was too. Very sad.
And NM, so sad to be thinking of your late Dad and Grandma. It is so much sadder around the holidays. I almost had to bolt out of church on Christmas Eve. I was thinking about my late DH so much, and remembering when he was in that same church with me and the kids. Had tears during one song, but I don't think my DD or my DH noticed...tried to be discreet, but it was all I could do, to stay put and not run out! Then when my DD's DH had such a nice table set, and dinner all made for us after the service, I was SO glad I had been able to stay.
Shoot, I haven't even started working yet. What is wrong with me? OH YEAH it is all dese dwinks that Flash brought me! Sheesh!!! LOL. Lori, I think you are coming home today? Travel safely, and can't wait to hear how your trip was!
Hugssssssss,
Wahine da Machiney

OK me again.....
Karen, Thanks for telling us about the movie The Descendants....I had not heard of it, but searched and found out it WAS filmed in Hawaii....
According to Tim Ryan's Reel Hawaii, The Descendants, starring George Clooney, has been spotted filming at several locations throughout Oahu including Queen's Medical Center and the Nuuanu house which serves as Clooney's character's house. The private residence has reportedly been rented for about two months. The production moved to Kauai for about seven weeks.
My mom, sister, and I lived in Nuuanu Valley for a few months when my brothers wealthy god-parents went around the world. Unfortunately their mansion suffered a major fire (my sister was responsible, as put sheets in the "drying room"...like huge dryer w/ big fan and coils), and then we had to move out and the cops patrolled there. THey had so many cars, Mercedes, Rolls, etc., that my mom had to drive a different car all the time to rotate them! Also had a live-in maid, and an elevator. To catch the bus, which stopped in front, it took a long while to walk to the front of the yard! It was an awesome place. Also, a lot of consulates are there. My friends dad was the Japanese consul for Hawaii, and their place was huge. Nuuanu Valley is straight back from Honolulu, and you can go over the Pali that way, into Kailua where my parents live. Usually very cool there, and waterfalls. NOW I have to see that movie!!!!

Just got back from a very brisk and very brrrrr 23 minute walk with Sadie. And I'm bushed! NOT FAIR! I only walked a half mile, been walking 3 before sunus surgery. Grumble, grumble. Gonna half to work that back up again. But first I need some lunch. . .

Here is this guy who really takes care of his body; he lifts weights and jogs five miles every day.
One morning, he looks into the mirror and admires his body. He notices that he is really sun tanned all over except one part and he decides to do something about it.
He goes to the beach, completely undresses and buries himself in the sand except for the one part sticking out.
Two little old ladies are strolling along the beach and one looks down and says, "There really is no justice in this world."
The other little old lady says, "What do you mean?"
The first little old lady says, "Look at that."
"When I was 10 years old, I was afraid of it."
"When I was 20 years old, I was curious about it."
"When I was 30 years old, I enjoyed it."
"When I was 40 years old, I asked for it."
"When I was 50 years old, I paid for it."
"When I was 60 years old, I prayed for it."
"When I was 70 years old, I forgot about it."
"And now that I'm 80, the damned things are growing wild!!"0 -
thanks for the laugh bernie before i go to work! scuby your right he's hot! hope everybody is doing well today

Just lost my post....tried to copy it for fear I would loose it and poof, its gone....I'm talking to DD while writing, so its taking me forever to write....Julie's post wasn't here when I started.....
DD is coming home tonight...she's at the Columbus airport as we speak...her flight leaves in about an hour.....I will pick her up at the gate in Denver....at first she said she didn't care, but then said, come to the gate so I don't have to carry my stuff all by myself...so glad told me to come to the gate as that is what I wanted to do!!! Going to Columbus, DH waited till she got thru security and my SIL did the same today....DD is a well seasoned traveller for 13.....this is her 3rd trip by herself this year....Can't wait to see her....
Kathy....thanks for sharing the story about your friend's house.....DH thougth it looked like HI...he took DS to school in Honolulu last January when DS went to U of HI for the semester....
NM....its been 3+ years since I had my last surgery and I still feel like I need a nap some days....what do I blame it on!!!!
Bernie...I copied the joke and sent it to my DH,....it is great!!! where do you find these all?
Its really warm and windy today...so a lot of the snow is finally melting....hopefully walking will be easier than its been.....wanted to walk late this afternoon, but DH is busy working on the fence in the back yard, so dont' think it will happen.....and with picking up DD, won't get a walk tonight....I walked this morning, but didn't take the dogs....
Stilll talking to DD.....probably for 1/2 hour now...she boards in another half hour...wonder if she'll want to talk till she boards!!!
Need to finish backing up everything on my computer so I can send it to HP to fix the monitor.....if I had realized it was send to HP, not sure if I would have gotten the extended warranty.....DH is going to let me use his netbook will mine is being fixed...HP sent me a box....so I need to take it to FEDX..hope to be back later!!!

LOL, I am sending Bernie's jokes to my DH too! Soooooo funny!
Karen, Glad your DD is so confident flying alone! Hoping those are direct flights and she does not have to change planes. My first flight alone was when I was 13 and I went to Guam to spend the summer with my Dad and his new wife (he went there for his job)....it was an EIGHT hour flight. But back then, not only did people smoke on the planes (oh that was horrid), but you had 1st class service in coach....and stewardesses wore gloves. But it was a long darn flight! Nice that she wants you to meet her at the gate! Oh, the mansion we stayed at, was the German Counsul to Hawaii's house....my mom was his exec sec'ry and she got close to his family, and so when my bro was born, they were his godparents. He used to get the neatest stuff for Christmas from them, and they were very wealthy!
I would love a nap in the afternoon, but whenever I have taken a nap (very rarely) I end up more tired when I wake up, and hungry too. So I am best not taking any!
Love your post Beans.....pretty soon my feeble mind will switch "d"'s and "f";s automatically....might get me into trouble. Missed you, hope things are great!
Pau Hana Time! Where is ebberyone? Dorkie? You here? Lori, are you home????
CheARS! Happy (almost) New Years!

Hello ladies!! Well, last night was a long one, kept waking up with pain in my calf. Wierdest thing! Dr. says could be that my muscle is in spasm for some reason, or else I pulled a muscle. Hell, they don't know!! At least it's not a blood clot! Praise God for that! Still hurts when going up and down stairs, and have to wear flat shoes. Taking it easy though. Had no time to post earlier today, as DD went to spend day with friend, and I took advantage of it and went to the shop and started setting up my desk for next week. DH just got home, gonna go eat dinner and check back in a bit. Hate that I missed my party last night!! Love you girls!0

Greetings from kinda cold Florida! Been wearing a jacket for two days. Not much beach time. Tomorrow is our last day and supposed to be 70 so hoping we can sit a few hrs on the sand. I am meeting two friends from HS and their families for dinner with my family tomorrow. Saw them when I was here two years ago when we were here, all pre-BC. One friend had BC 4 yrs ago and the other lost her mother to BC. Both were very supportive when I was diagnosed last Jan. We reconnected via FB the previous yr, having not seen each other for 30 years! I went to school with their husbands too, so should be fun. Just hope my DH and family are not bored to tears!! Spent today at Universal, especially Hogwarts/Harry Potter. Swear to god everyone was there! We were in line 2 1/2 hours for the main attraction! Good thing it was cool. I would have expired if we were there in summer.
Allison, glad to hear you are ok. I was scared to keep reading but had to know the time. Should have realized with all these gals praying you would have a good outcome. DorK, hope you are slowing down just a little bit to help that darn incision heal!!
Am thinking that homemade kalua sounds really good! May need to find some ingredients when I get home. Have always liked a Colorado Bulldog. May have to request that when I go out. Does kalua go with seafood??!!0 -

A hunter kills a deer and brings it home. He decides to clean it, prepare it, and serve the deer meat for dinner. He knows his kids are fussy eaters, and won't eat it if they know what it is, so he doesn't tell them.
His little boy keeps asking him, "What's for dinner dad?"
"You'll see", he replies.
They start eating dinner and his daughter keeps asking him what they are eating.
"Ok", says her dad, "Here's a hint. It's what your mother sometimes calls me."
His daughter screams ... "Don't eat it, Jimmy! ... It's an effing asshole ..."0 -
thanks for the laughs bernie!, no real drinking tonight as in work just want to drink
