Good morning, Loungettes! I'm up in time to see another beautiful, frosty sunrise. I slept sooooo well last night, not sure why I slept so well all of a sudden, but I'll take it! Now to see how long the energy lasts today. It's got to last a while because I have an admission to do this evening, I got the heads up by e-mail on Tuesday. Ah, well, such is life.

DorK-Sounds like you are getting a wonderful massage, can I be next?? Thanks for the hug, it's the first Christmas since Gram died, and for some reason I've been thinking a lot about Dad lately. He died in 1998, but there are times it still feels like yesterday. Sadie and I had a wonderful sleep, I love the way she cuddles up against me under the covers when the room is cool. Back to the real world in 3 weeks? Oh dear, but somehow going back to work makes things seem more normal, at least for me. I don't think we ever outgrow our need for Mommy and Daddy, no matter how old we get!

Bright and sunny day here in Philly! Time to start the party! Am excited, they are having hockey games outside at the baseball stadium, one alumni game Saturday then the pros play Monday. DH and I were able to get tix, never been to a hockey game outside!

The one and only hockey game I ever went to (most of our team here is from Canada!), was when I took our Brownie troop (I was the leader). Scuby--hoping for a calm weekend, too. I won't be getting any overtime because I'm not working Monday, which is the desgnated observance of the holiday. Not sure I could handle another 3 day weekend like that anyway! But I've doing some planning and scheeming and I should be able to put up shelves in the sewing room closet for less than $100, which is only about 2 hours worth of work, and I got close to 12 hours Monday that should be at triple pay if not straight overtime. Either way, I WIN!
Goldie--trying to catch up in here is a lost cause. Just jump in where yer at and start swimmin'!
Wahine--I've run across that muscle man pic before. I can't figure out how he can even feed himself, all those overblown muscles must get in the way! And all those huge muscle make his Um hm, you know, look tiny!

Hiya Breasties.....I been bad...not posting n keeping track. I jes finished reading bunches n bunches of pages. My heart is aching for some of you and the trials you've endured over the holidays. I got my 3 mo follow-up scans. Still NED! Merry Christmas! I was really worried as my back pain (where mets are) has been incredible. But, guess it's jes osteoporsis (sp) as my treatment keeps me from producing hormones to keep my bones strong? Have appointment w/surgeon on Tues. Will talk bi-lat mx. Someone posted about PS and finding one you like. My PS will be right beside my surgeon to start reconstruct and I really like him. But the terms DIEP, LAT and TE recon escapes me, whoever posted, can you tell what that means so I can ask right questions on Tues?
DD has been sick in and out of hospital and I've been worried to death. She is 40yoa and had kidney disease since she was 20, both kidneys jes shriviling up. Her DH ended up a match and gave her one of his kidneys Jan 2009. Everything seemed good, til the last 30-45 days. Am asking for prayers that she's not starting to reject it. I kno, don't borrow trouble...but mommies always worry needlessly...jes our nature.
I'm battling a bad cold, but will still work tomorrow night. But will try n pop in tonite for some cheers with all ya all. Gotta go take a nap, try to kick this cold in the arse!

MemaSue--the abbreviations get crazy, don't they?
DIEP = deep inferior epigastric perforator, or the PS finds the artery and vein that supply the belly fat and skin, disssect them out of the abdominal muscles, and then moves the "flap" to the breast area and attaches the artery to one fo the arteries in your chest and attaches the vein to a vein in your chest. This is a microsurgery procedure, also called a "free flap" procedure. Relatively few PS's do this procedure. You get a sort of tummy-tuck' effect as a bonus. Leave a scar from hip to hip just above the pubic bone.
LAT = lastissimus dorsi flap procedure. The PS takes some of the latissimus dorsi muscle, the one that goes from your shoulder to your backbone, below the shoulderblade, tunnels it under the skin of the armpit to the front and then shapes it into a breast. The breast size can be limited with with procedure unless an implant is also used. This one can weaken your shoulder, but unless you are a tennis player or do some other activity that requires shoulder strength it's usually not noticeable.Leaves a scar on your back.
TE = tissue expander. In this case the PS puts an inflatable expander under the skin where the breast was and fills it slowly over time. Some women get fills every week, some every other week. The TE is hard and does not look like a breast while it is being filled and stretching out the skin. It is filled by the PS injecting saline into the expander in the office. For some, this is uncomfortable. The expander can be placed under the muscle or on top of the muscle of the chest. ONce the skin has been stretched enought and Exchange surgery is done where the expander is removed and replaced with an implant. This procedure takes weeks to months to complete, depending on how much stretch is needed. Women who have had radiation often have trouble with this as the radiation permanantly damages the skin. Leave scars only in the breast area, pretty much unnoticable once recon is complete.
TRAM= In this procedure muscle the overlying fat and skin are taken from the belly, tunneled up under the skin to the chest and formed into a breast. This can be done as a one or two sided procedure. This takes muscle out of the abdominal area (the rectus abdominus) and increases the risk of a hernia in that area. This procecure is falling out of favor now that procedures with less invasiveness and easier recovery and less risk for hernias afterward are availalbe. This also leaves a hip to hip scar just above the pubic bone.

Oh Sue, definately sending our prayers for your DD....that IS scary. Hoping and praying her body does not reject that kidney. I didn't realize that could happen, after a successful surgery. I guess its similar to cancer as you never know when that beast will rear its ugly head. Hope and pray also that she has the best doctors and that God is guiding their decisions and they will be able to get her healthy. Thank you for sharing that with us, so we can keep her health upmost in our thoughts and prayers. Please update us on how she is doing, whenever you can, ok? Hope you get over that cold too. I am getting rid of the expanders for permanent foobs on 1/9 (yay DMe!). If you have any questions on that one, please PM me, I will be happy to share anything I can. There are some threads specific to the different procedures here too.

Got most of my Shabbat dinner cooked....now just need to clean up the mess.....Then jump in the shower and get dressed...need to take DD to get her glasses adjusted....woke up in a funk today....if I could cry, I would be bawling my eyes out....and I can't tell you a reason....so why can't I cry and get it over with...I'm using DD mini computer and I can tell you, I don't like it....the keyboard is harder to use...and the screen...well its just too darn small....maybe I'll spend less time on the computer!!! DD is planning a NYE party for tomorrow, but not sure if any of the girls are spending the night or what.....most of them won't give her a straight answer....she has made all the arrangements....and DH and I are home....we got invited to a party, but said thanks but no thanks......so hope she gets it all figured out or she will be disappointed....Welll better run.....lots to do....will try to be back before candle lighting...if not, have a good week-end!!!

Doing a little reading...Tyedie, I didn't lose my eyebrows/lashes until I started the Taxol. I too thought I was going to get to keep mine, but NOOOOOO, that didn't happen. I have also seen girls post that after their lashes came back, they fell out again! This would happen every few months. Thankfully, I did NOT have that problem. So you will really just have to wait and see. Expect it, so you won't be disappointed if they do.
Allison, just read about your scare and all seems ok. But OMG, that is so sweet about DH and DF wanting to know WTH you are doing (writing to us) while in the hospital. That was cute. Love the spell checks too! .......or lack of!

Just finished my next to last appt. at ICONS. Last one tomorrow morning @10:00, then packing it up to take back to the legal salon. Will be glad to get back to work, but not looking forward to being with DDBIWW(dirty dumb bitch I work with, btw). Oh well, will deal with it.
Tomorrow is going to be a very long day. I am not a sports fan, but DH Loves UofL, (university of Louisville) and they are playing UofK (University of Kentucky) tomorrow @ noon. Huge rivalrys here, like Alabama and LSU? Right Kathy? Anyway, we invited several friends over tomorrow to either watch the game or come later for New Year's Eve, and it was pretty divided. Looks like we're having an open house tomorrow starting @ noon!!

Do have under-muscle implants now, from 1978, redone in 1996. And, had double hernia in upper stomach repaired in July last year, so that Tram thingy prolly out of question, sides the repair didn't hold, but least of my prollems now. We'll see what is suggested on Tues.

Funny all the comments on the TE's. I really liked mine. Mine weren't like turtle shells, and not too hard, but gave me more cleavage than the implants do. SO I wasn't that excited about the exchange, other than to know I would be finished with having to have procedures done. Guess I'm weird! OH, but a happy weird gal, with those hunks pampering me!!! LOL.
