good morning ladies, thank you all for making me feel so good about myself I think I might even be sitting a little bit straighter today because of all of you lol. As for the questions on chemo curls...oh yes I got them allright I can now use a flat iron to straighter the little bastards out lol. First I blow dry on a low setting, Blow dry the bangs what little there are...forward and to one side with a cool setting then take them to the other side on a warm setting to get them to stay there. As soon as I get out of the shower I put in morrocan oil...its keeps the fuzz away...after I have dried it , very improtant to dry in the direction you want the hair then I take the flat iron and straiighen out the curl, make sure you use a comb down every piece you straighten other wise it will stand up straight like a porcupine lol not a pretty sight trust me. After you have run the straightener through your hair you then put in your product...I suggest thrill by oasis you can get this at a hair salon..its a fiber putty and it is amazing!!!!! start pulling the pieces where you want them with this stuff.....hope that helps for you girls trying to figure out our new hair.
will check back in for a dwinkie poo soon
Hugs Kymn

Hey drinkin' buds!

Lori, who all (is that too Southern?) is in the party bus pic? I see Junie with her wings.....

I have been busy. (doh - like, when am I not?) lol.
I can't believe Christmas came and went in a blink. Avery made out like a bandit, of course. The live tree was a trial. It is now in the back yard and as soon as I take all the lights off of it (dragged it outside w/lights still on, less messy that way) I will burn it. If I can't plan my Christmas week days off better next year I'll be getting a fake tree.
Work is good, been staying away from cold Moscow, going everywhere and anywhere in Europe as per usual. It's been warmer than average in Chicago so no complaints from me. We're on the downside now! Come on Spring!
Been trying to plan a surprise birthday present to Disneyland for Avery. She is going to LOVE it and I think I am, too. I've never taken her anywhere on a plane so this wil be a BIG trip for her. She can't wait to meet all of my "mommy work friends." lol. Oh, the joys of being a mother!

I had to be on the wagon for 10 days while taking the penicillin over x-mas but have making up for it ever since. Brought back some nice Rioja's from Madrid last week. I swear, the good stuff is never imported or if it is the prices are way jacked up. I am SO lucky, I wish I could share. (I think?)
Kymn, good luck with your hair. You seem to have figured it out though. I had no issues - my stick straight hair grew back stick straight!
Party-on Ladies,
Jaybird

Celebretin wiv wine.
A cucumber, an olive and a penis are talking.
The cucumber says "I hate my life, when I get big fat and juicy they cut me up and put me in salad."
The olive says "That's nothing, when I get big fat and juicy they cut me up and put me on pizza."
The penis says "You think you have it bad, when I get big fat and juicy they put me in a bag, throw me in a cave, shut the door and leave me there till I throw up"0 -
Bernie, cheers, I will drink to that, so glad for good news!
Jaybird, luv to see you, I luv the Rioja's as well.
Kymn - awesome hair help, my sister's hair came in curly too, but she liked it. Happy hair to all of youse!
MemaS - surgery is laproscopic using DaVinvi Robotic device, supposed to last 45 minutes or so. Only 2 little cuts and one in your belly button. Well thanks for all the good thoughts! Not only is surgery back on, I am #2 for the day, have to go in at 7:30 am, yay me, less fasting! You were right Wahine, never thought I would be happy about going in for surgery, lol! NM, hope you do not get a lot of snow but I am glad you get help digging out. We were spared her as the temps stayed above freezing. We sure got a lot of rain though.
Allison, oh how scary to have to hide in your basement for the tornado warning, I just hate hearing that. Do the schools there have some kind of shelters for the kids? Sure hope so.
Scuby, tanks for de beer. I am dwinking cyber today but tink I will dwink at de job tomorree. Gots to to test my new flask. Or not, hmm, management might be suspicious. Here's the water wall I've been talking about: http://www.mrdrip.com/plantprotector.htm
Have only gotten a dusting of snow so far, temps got up to 40 at one point. Tonight is supposed to be the problem time. Sigh. At least it's overnight and not during driving time since I've got back to back appointments from 8 am to 2 pm tomorrow!
Scuby--so glad you're getting in early rather than late! Someone is trying to make up to you for screwing up, just like they should!

Sitting at the Middle School taking tickets for HS basketball game and freezing my butt off by the doors! Passing the time on my iPhone catching up. Hope they will spring me loose pretty soon. Popcorn for supper!
I had a bone density test today. One of the easier ones I must say! Started PT on shoulder today in addition to LE. Will be having double appts for two weeks then probably dismissed from LE therapist. Awe Dotty, sorry to hear a bout your mom......so sad when that sort of thing happens. Can you get her a sheep skin to lay on? That's what is used in hospitals here to help prevent bed sores as they are soft and believe it or not, the wool breathes. Prayers for you mom and your dad as he is gonna have a long road with her.
Love n extra hugs. Chrissy
0 -
chrissy, they seldom use sheepskin pads now, because of infection control, also stopped the old egg crate mattress to for same reason, most hospital beds now have air loss mattress' and they only use the speciality beds for severe wounds
0 -
Juliet, we are allowed to supply our own skins here so they are not used by others.

Three guys go to a ski lodge, and there aren't enough rooms, so they have to share a bed. In the middle of the night, the guy on the right wakes up and says, "I had this wild, vivid dream of getting a hand job!" The guy on the left wakes up, and unbelievably, he's had the same dream, too. Then the guy in the middle wakes up and says, "That's funny, I dreamed I was skiing!"

morning bernie
chrissy , people are discouraged from bringing their own pads because of the laundry issue( they are seldom clean!) and now the old bedbug issue, maybe just a local thing. 0 -
Morning Loungettes! Just a quick drop in to grab a dwinkie and say HI! Gott a leave early for the first appointment, roads a bit slippery, some schools on 1 hour delays. Praying for your Mommy Jean, DorK, that all goes well and she recovers quickly.

NM, don't you plant in the spring too, to grow stuff during the summer? But yes, you can keep stuff going into the fall as well. I am anxious to try it myself. We also have terrible winds here in the spring.
Mema, I am not sure if the EZ Wall will help keep plants cool. Our website is http://www.mrdrip.com/ , this particular product is more to keep plants warm and growing in freezing temps. They are filled with water, and I would think where you are, that water would just heat up and stay hot. But I am not certain, I will ask. I believe it is growing season for you now, right? As for the hair issues, I too missed my eyelashes the most, eyebrows were easy to fake. Funny that your cars were too drunk to drive, glad you could walk home. Hugs for you, I'm sorry you had a moment and were scared. You have every reason to feel that way. Sounds like your DH is very supportive.
Alli, glad you escaped the tornado, I sure don't miss that kind of weather! And that is awesome that your DD likes to workout with you. Mommy/Daughter time..............SOOOOOO important!
Hey Jayird! MrsV made that map, and puts the bus in an area where someone is having surgery. In this case, Scuby. The letter on the front represents one of us. Allison asked that everyone send her their state, hair and eye color, and she made all of us that complied! I am a blonde with a "G" on my dress. Scuby and DorK are there in the flash! And you spotted Junie. MrsV doesn't know how to post the pictures, so she takes them and then sends them to me and I post them. But SHE made the map.
Yippeeeeeee for Bernieeeeee! Clean scans, don't get no better den dat! *clink* *clink*
Scuby, wishing you all the best today girl, but certain all will be just fine. Will be curious as to how it goes. Alli, is this the same procedure you had? I may be looking at getting the rest of mine taken out, have ovaries and cervix still.
LOL, Dork driving de bus! Glad I am on da UFO! LOL! Jes kiddin DorK, mese lubs you! Sorry someone took your stash at work, but hey, at least you know you have a drinking bud there, somewhere! Waiting for hair to grow back is the PITS. Just seems like it's never gonna get there, especially for us gals that like long hair. It took me 3 years, until it got to a length I liked. Oh DorK, just read about your mom. I'm so sorry! And that must be so hard for you to not be able to be there. DARN IT! Praying for minimal pain for her. I forget, do you have family there to help?
Karen, glad you got the ok for the soy. I really try to stay away from it. Of course it is in almost EVERYTHHING, but I try to keep it minimal. I thought tofu was pretty much solid soy, is that true? Never had it.
Haha Unde, sounds like you had bed head glue for lunch! And what better way to swallow pills than with wine! Go dad!
Scuby, you might even be done already, but know I was/am there girl. It is already almost 9 ayem for you, but not even 7 ayem here. DorK, please let us know about your mom. Just breaks my heart.

BEANS, YOU GOTTA READ THIS.
Yesterday, the business phone rings......
Me: Hello, MrDrip.com, this is Lori.
Caller: Lori? This is Jean.
Me: BEANS?
Caller: Huh?
Me: (laughing) oh, this is not Beans? I'm sorry, I have a friend whose name is Jean, but I call her Beans.
Caller: That's funny, cuz I had a boyfriend that called me Bean!
She went on to tell the story, but I was so embarrased. And also sad, cuz it wasn't YOU!

Goldie...yup, tofu is pure soy....but onc doesn't feel eating it once a week (or less) is harmful....I don't read package labels...and we don't buy much junk food with loads of ingredients...mostly chips, pretzls etc...My ER/PR+ status was pretty high, but a gal has to do what a gal has to do....BC took so much away from me, that I won't let it take away foods that I enjoy...and that includes my red wine!!!
Scuba...thinking of you today.......
DorK....thinking of your mom....hope she has an easy recovery...
Goldie...funny about the phone call...
Well...work is calling!!! time to leave....BB tonight...

Morning girls,
Oh Dorthy-so sorry bout your sweet Mommy, I will pray for quick healing for her and peace and understanding for your Dad as they go through this together.
Memasue-you are so sweet to think of me in your prayers, that really touched my heart, just haven't had time to post since then. I pray for all of you girls, each night as I fall asleep. You all mean so much to me.
Mrs. V & Kymn- Would each of you gorgeous hotties mind telling me how long your hair has been growing in the pics that you posted? It'll give me something to look forward to!!
Bernie-I know I'm late on this, haven't been on in a few days, but never to late to say Woo Hoo! Happy for you girl!
Thank you all for the "half-way" congratulations, and the really clever card!
Things have been pretty busy at my house: Our sweet Wally (Boston Terrier) got hit by a car Monday just as I was feeling icky from chemo-my boys were home for the holiday and saw the whole thing happen!! He got pretty beat up and we didn't think he'd make it through the night, but put him in bed with me that night to keep his temp up(was really low from being shocky), tube fed meds, food and water, and today he's doing really well!. Still not out of the woods, but we are praying for a full recovery soon.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A SOLUTION TO THEY DRY MOUTH??? No amount of water seems to help. For that matter, EVERYTHING is dry!! Moisturizing my sking like crazy, even bought really good face cream for my face, and....well you know bout the other dry parts, still waiting since last week for call back from doc on switching that med to one covered by ins. Nothing yet.
Busy day today, with nuprigen shot, taxes, etc. Check back later, wishing you all a beautiful day!

Tied - Xyli-Melts. I got them when I went to Cancer Centers of America in AZ back in October. They are little mints that you put inside your cheeks and they stick there, so NO fear of choking on them. They melt slowly through the night and keep your mouth moist. The nutritionist said that some drug stores carry them but if they don't...Ask them to order them for you. You can order them on line too. SupplementWarehouse.com has a 60 pack for about $11.00. Good price. I tried the bio-tene n such, no luck. These work. Good luck!
Goldie - Thank u for the info bout the water thingies. Do ask about helping w/the heat aspect. Even if we had to change out the water every other day or something, wonder if it would help. Am sad bout your phone call....wish it had been Beans...wudda been too cool!
Good advice goils for Jean. My DD had one a those air beds, I didn't kno what the noise was every time it inflated or deflated. LOL. HTL Chapel very busy all night with the goils in and out praying for Jean. We lub u Dork...n will keep up the vigil!
Karen - my onco also was not worried too much about soy once in awhile. Told me not enuf hormone in em to disrupt my treatment. I jes don't like em, so I jes put up w/my blasted Power Surges. And I am curious too, bout Mrs V n Kymm. Mine has been growing since I stopped Chemo in early Sept and it is nearly as long as theirs. I've got maybe 1/2". I can get a little spike on the top using hair glue, but that's it right now.
Well goils...gotta get ready for my walk. Gotta pick up my bad, bad, bad car....hope ez sober...LOL Then gonna drive into St Geo, do a little shoppin.
Have a GR8 day!

good monring ladies from the North Pole....at least it feels like it here DAMN its cold today had to come in late to work because I had to drive my kids to school to dangerous to walk today. Its is -45 C which I beleive is -49 F. Today....yes really....bbrrrrrrrrrrrr. Had to plug my truck in the last couple of days or there is no way it would have started
. Dorothy am so sorry to hear about your mom will be thinking of her when was the surgery??.
Goldie very funny phone story made me giggle.
Tideymom olive oil works very well for dry skin during treatment and I found the only thing that somewhat helped with the dry mouth was gum. No amount of drinking helped at all. I have been growing for 6 months now last chemo was June 30.
sorry have to make this quick busy morning ahead
Hugs and love to all
