mdg I agree with your assessment of men. My DH was hitting on me 5 days after my BMX! (Not sure what the hell he was thinking but pulling myself up out of bed was the most challenging thing I did back then). He really likes my new boobies. I swear he went to my pre-op appointment to make sure I didn't go too small.  Guess he wanted to get something out of this too. Tongue out

I think most DH's are happy to have us alive and still in their lives. Prior to surgery I swear he was more scared than I was. He didn't say it but I had a feeling. I'm sure it didn't help that I was being treated at the same place his mom died 2 years earlier (lung cancer but she was 86) and her sister 6 months later (pneumonia, 76).I remember waiting in the cancer center, my husband waved to this doctor I never saw before. It was his mother's former oncologist.

Have you talked to him about it? Men can be shy about discussing stuff like this. Maybe you need to let him know you want a hug. He might just be afraid to touch you right now. He just might not know what you want him to do.

LisaK, When I couldn't sleep on my side I propped one of those long body pillows under one side so I could kind of sleep at 45 degree angle.  It helped a little when I couldn't sleep on my back any longer, but couldn't sleep on my side either.  Not 100% sure what you meant about your husband but I am a squeamish person and it was hard for me to look too.  Seeing incisions made me feel sick and fragile.  Maybe that is what is going through his head.

Lago congrats on your one year anniversary.  I so look forward to feeling like myself again.  At this point I really don't think its going to happen.

Zap prayers that everything goes well and the most optimistic doctor is correct.  Sometimes I think you just have to follow your instincts when doctors are disagreeing.  Maybe that's what your daughter is doing, but you're right, experience counts for something too.

If we all tried really hard could we make the snow hold off until Saturday?  Its supposed to be the worst at pm rush hour which is when I'll have to be driving an extra 40 miles tomorrow.  Ugh.  I'll probably get home at midnight. .

I so appreciate this  thread for  insights not necessarily connected to BC. Two Hobbies, you are so right!  My DD's instincts on what is best for her baby  is so right.  I tend to think of DD as my baby and not the 32-year old she really  is.  I want to protect and take care of her, and she is the mother now and needs to follow her own instincts!  Thank you!  Hard to let go...such simple insights...how could I be so dense.

Well finally got my drains out and my first fill of 50 CC in each side..Left still looks bigger then the right..I think 3 more fills will be needed before done.

Feeling great with alittle tightness in the right but no biggie.

Lisa I told my PS I thought I looked good after my 4th expansion… he said a few more. I had   10 altogether! Yikes. I had about a shot glass each time (60cc )

Doesn't it feel great to be rid of those drains!

Hi all - One of my daughters is a Feburary baby (13th) - I agree, February babies are awesome!

Lisak - yay for getting those drains out!

Lago, Robo, Joan and mdg:  I was so happy to get to meet all of you at lunch yesterday - sorry I couldn't stay longer.  I really appreciate your advice and support.  I hope I can look and be doing as fantastically as you all are when I get through treatments.  Robo, I was especially inspired by you since you have very recently finished chemo, and you look super cute!

Joan stopped by to see me during my treatment after her appt., and my DH and I talked her ear off -- thank you, Joan, it was really nice of you to come by.  One of these days when I am working from home (I usually work at home 1-2 days a week), we should get coffee or lunch in CL.

Treatment yesterday went pretty easily/smoothly, though at one point, another patient down the hall had some kind of an allergic reaction to a drug she had, and there was a whole lot of medical staff running up and down the hall in response -- that was a little unsettling.  I was exhausted last night, mostly I think because I didn't sleep much on Wed. night worrying about what was to come.  So, I got a good night's sleep last night, and am feeling fine today.  Hoping for minimal side effects the next few days.  Thanks again to all for your support.

Lisa hang in there. Glad those drains are gone!! I texted Lemondrop today. She was at work and heading home a little early because of the storm. Sounded like all was ok so far.

Lemon so glad things went smoothy. I was in a fog for several days after my 1st. Benadryl, Zyrtec and Emend made me spacy. I finally got used to the Zyrtec (took it the entire time I was on chemo). I still got spacey for 4 days from the Emend though. My eyesight even got fuzzy from it.Total purple haz stuff.

I haven't left yet for tatts. My appointment was for 4 but they are running late. Now we're looking at 5-5:30. I do believe I'm the last patient today. I was going to take a cab but now that I have all this time I'm considering the bus.

Husband still stuck in traffic but looks like he'll be there before me. I need him to choose the color Tongue out

It is coming down!  I am glad I did not have to go anywhere today!  DH came home early and is working from home. I just got my office cleaned up today and unpacked from our move and DH went right in there before I could even enjoy it myself.  Oh well.....I will have plenty of time to work in there I suppose.  I am glad he did not have to drive in rush hour snow.  His regular commute is an hour - can't imagine Friday night and bad roads....probably 3 hours.  Glad he is home safe.  I hope anyone on the roads is safe!  Stay warm!  Lago...good luck with your tattoo's!  How exciting!

Lemondrop, i totally felt that way too. Im guessing your getting AC? My first three treatments someone had a reaction to taxol in the same pod i was in.. It totally freakednme out, especially when i got my first taxol, but i was totally fine! You will be too :). Are you at rush?

Sorry i couldnt be there yesterday ladies my mom had a chore list for our friends arrival and i was stuck cleaning and painting windows lol.

Lago- be careful out there its a mess! My mom is stuck there at work and prob wont make it home tonight, luckily we have a condo that is empty atm so she might stay there...

Lisak- congrats on the drains i hear theyre the worst part.. How long did you have them for? How long til you ladies can shower post bmx?? Luckily doing chemo first i have no hair that needs washing wa wa lol!

Im still torn between surgeons and i dont know what to do. This guy on the northshore dr. Winchester says he can do areola sparing which doesnt hold the same risk of keeping your nipple but cosmetically may give me a better result. Have you ladies heard anything about the northshorenorevanston hospital?

Mynlast chemo is moooonday! Two more days :) im curling my wig in preparation :D

Lemon - so glad things went smoothly for you.

    KatieP - yay for Monday!

    Lago - happy inking!

My normal 25 minute drive from work took 2 hours and 40 minutes. Be careful out there everyone! Have a warm and safe Friday night!

No ink. I did get down there but he was running late. Seemed he wouldn't get to me till 6:45! I figured with the snow and the almost 3 hours late decided to reschedule. Husband never made it down. He was in traffic for 3 hours (and currently grouchy). The cab ride down was scary. I took the train home and  walked from there. I swear it took me less time to get home than it did to get there.

So I'm still kinda Barbie-ish with nips and no tatts.Yell

Happy Friday Girls....What a week I had at school. Is there something in the water. Another teacher came to me today with a breast lump she found last night. Went to her gyne this afternoon after she had a meltdown in my office...now having a biopsy on Monday. My other teacher had her first chemo / rad tx and seams to be in less pain now. Hoping that this will strink all those tumors everywhere. Our secertary's dad has ca and is doing chemo too. I am just emotionally drained  from all of this. I so need a vacation from all this sadness. But I have to wait until March then Viva Las Vegas here I come. Please keep them in your prayers.

How was lunch girls...no pics for us. sniff. Lago no tatto's maybe it is better to wait til after this snow. Didn't want to wait until midnight.lol

Zap... thinking of your dd and baby. My assist principle's sister is due any day and looks like today it may be. Hope she get's to Lake Forest ok in this snow.

Hope all of you who are in tx are feeling well and resting. Take care girls.

Just a quick hello to all on this lovely snowy night. Jammie time, vino and a roaring fire....ahhhh what more could a girl ask for. Be safe out there it is very slick.

    Sweet dreams everyone.

Sounds like it has been awful today up North.  I am thinking about all of you.  We are getting a little but it is coming late and  I think for the most part we will be all right.

Had my Oncology visit at Marion......great score....I'm still a-ok.

See you all in the morning....it's exhaustion time for me.

    Hugs, Jackie

Ladies...lunch was so nice.  I am back downtown on Jan 30th for my med onc follow up.  Anyone game for lunch?  I think my appointment is around 11:15 or 11:30am so lunch after?  Let me know ladies!

Lago.....that is a huge bummer about the phone.  My worst fear...losing my phone!  I can't imagine.  Also glad you rescheduled ink.  When are you getting it done?  Who is doing yours?  I believe at NW they have a tattoo artist now.  I don't know if they are any good though but I have a few more months to look into that.  I won't get them til spring with my healing issues.

Lisa - I hope the shower was relaxing and calming.  Don't you find you feel more human again after a shower if it's been days?  I am sure it felt good.

Katie - I can't help with any of those doctors...sorry.  Glad you are almost done with chemo....we need to celebrate at a lunch for sure soon!

Hey - any of you gals up for lunch on Thursday, 1/26?  Lisamomof4 and I are planning lunch at The Cellar Bistro in downtown Wheaton that day.  It's a good restaurant and offers hormone free and some organic stuff.  Anyone care to join us?  Here is a link to the restaurant:  http://www.thecellarbistro.com/

I am not able to do a cool linky like Lago.  We all need a "linky lesson" Lago!

Stay warm tonight all!  DH is out snowblowing the driveway.  He is teaching me how to use that dang machine tomorrow and is saving the sidewalks for me.  Joy.....(said sarcastically of course!)
