Before the quote today.....Lisa K said I don't have a blog...I think my life is boring and I am not a good writer..  Lisa....I'm sure several of us here have very similar sensations -- I am one of them, but if you stick around here long enough you will lose much of that feeling.  Also, don't ever forget.....you are perfect for who you are.  God does not make junk --- you are wonderful and you are needed --- we all have to learn that we are enough.....and we all have something to bring here along with our "cancer"......so you just get your head up high and keep on,keeping on.

    Hugs, Jackie

Lisa, are you on short term disablity or would you be able to return to your job and do some desk work?  I was back in a week--but was able to work from home for the first week and then went back into the office the second week.   I have a desk job though, so it was mostly conference calls and emails.

Good morning.....it is a little exciting here this a.m.  We had sleet at some time so had to bring out the "salt" so we could get around outside.  There seems no end to the weird...anything just about anytime type weather we are having.  Anyway...safe out there now, thank goodness.  The rest of the day could hold some surprises...but I think we will be fine here.  Hope all is going to be ok where you are.

    Hugs, Jackie

MDG did you check Whole Foods for ground turkey?  I have seen it there, and purchased it for $2.99 a lb.

It January 25th and there is a FLY in my house today!! Crazy weather we are having!

mdg - I am trying the ground turkey and a roast. I have not had red meat in so long, I felt like I was drooling thinking about grilling the steaks while reading the info on the site.

We don't have a Costco membership even though there is one down the street from us.  Do they have enough organic that is is worth joining?  Whole foods is so far from us, I never get there.

lisak7290 - If I could leave work, I would bring you lunch and give you a huge hug. I'm sorry that I can't.

    Have a great day everyone.

Shhh. Don't tell anyone but I'm at work and sneaking in a post while I have this lull. :)

Katie - Congrats on finishing chemo! I know you still have more hurdles to get past, but it's great to get the chemo behind you. I love skimming through etsy! I hope you share your site. Also, I used Fenner for one of my recon surgeries a few years back, and juliechicago has used him several times. You can drop her a PM if you want any input.

Joan - Sorry to hear the AI's are kicking your butt (and knees and hips!). We already talked about this, but after my switch to Femara things did eventually get better, but I'd be lying if I said it was quick or complete. But, for me, it was definitely a tolerable situation - like from unpleasant to simply annoying.

Timbuktu - While I firmly believe that medical mistakes can, and do, happen at every institution, your story really drives home the need to be as vigilant as possible when it comes to your own health care. Good for for trusting your gut.

Robo! - I hope you share your photos. I never took pics of myself bald, and I only have one picture of myself in my wig. What I did do was dolled myself up right before I lost my hair and had my husband take some cheesecake shots. Every now and then I'd look at those and remind myself that I'd be there again one day.

Lago - Thanks for that recipe. I'm doing gluten-free these days and that looks scrumptious. Love cauliflower!

My dad, of all people, sent me a link to a video showing a report on Whole Foods and some concerning issues regarding how organic their frozen veggies actually are. A lot of them are apparently labeled organic, but are imported from China, where the regulation is done by a third party and possibly unreliable, certainly difficult to verify. Not that i buy all organic anyway, but i thought it was interesting food for thought. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=JQ31Ljd9T_Y

    Have a great day, everyone.

Corrine: I rarely get to Whole Foods as there is not one out here.  I will compare though next time I make a trip there.

Hawk - I like Coscto - just got home from there a while ago too!   They have some organic stuff I really like.  My regular finds are:  organic spinach, organic carrots, organic apple slices, frozen organic broccoli, frozen organic green beans, frozen organic corn, imported cheeses (if from Europe they don't contain hormones), organic wheat bread, organic eggs, organic milk (3 pack of 1% is only $8!), Fage Yogurt, organic ground beef, organic chicken ( they have whole chickens, boneless less, boneless breasts), nitrate free hotdogs for my son, hormone free chicken nugges for my son, organic lemon juice, organic quinoa (5 lb bag), organic EVOO, organic spices (a few options), ECOS laundry soap (chemical free), organic tortilla chips.  Which suburb are you in?  I am in Geneva...if you want to go with me one day, I can meet you.  I think you can bring guests.  PM if you want to check it out sometime.  I don't mind.  Their prices on these things are good considering chicken is $5.99/lb at Costco vs. over $7/lb other places that alone saves money on each visit.  They do have some other organic canned foods but I avoid BPA so I don't buy them.
Rene - thanks for the info on WF.  I will have to check that out.
Oh and Lisa - I would not say my life is interesting...I just blogged through BC because I was off from work and just bored and let it flow.  My cooking blog is just for fun and hopefully to provide some healthy cooking options for those of us trying to eat healthier.  I love cooking...just a hobby.  I am just an average gal...no different than you!

I buy my drinking water. Yes is come in a big 2.5 gallon plastic container but at least I'm not drinking someone else's antibiotics and hormone pills (and god knows what else they toss in lake Michigan).  Tongue out

I live dangerously. My condo is one onf those on the list of not having up to date fire safety. No sprinkler system  yet. From what I read I have a feeling a special assesment is in our future.

LisaK I would check with your onc but I would say that is doubtful. You don't want to risk infection while on chemo so if you can do it after I'm sure your onc would want you to wait

Well, today brought good things.  DD visited with the pediatric cardiologist who will check munchkin out upon birth and his findings today  were positive.  The baby is so big now that he was unable to get views of all four chambers (heart) but he saw two of them and they look healthy.  Then of all things, the heartbeat was 145 bpm......the best it has been for weeks (true, she was sleeping, but hey!)  Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers, etc.  I will keep you posted but I feel I can stop obsessing on this...I really feel positive. LIfe is so fragile, isn't it.

Lisa in Zion.......people with the most interesting lives can have boring blogs. MDG has a helpful one!  I do think that I personally need to limit the number of blogs I visit as they can create a drain on time.

    Take care,

    Susan

LisaK  I don't know the answer to that but again I can't stress enough to check with your doctors. They should know that you are using this and that it's due for the upgrade. Tongue out

I'm so excited. I found pom tomatoes in a carton sold in the little grocery around the block.Laughing

Good for you Lago...I just finished my stash of tomatoes so I have to make a run to Meijer to stock up again.

Lisa I would definatley talk to your med onc about birth control options. See what he says and then see your gyno.

Zap...glad the bambino is doing well. I know you can't wait to hold that baby in your arms...so exciting. I am also glad you like my blog ramblings.

Hawk..no problem. Glad I could help.

Zap - Glad to hear the ped. cardiologist visit was so positive.  145 is a solidly normal rate, even if baby was sleeping, they sleep a LOT.

LisaK - Did you ever mention to your oncologist that you had a Mirena?  I see from your signature that you are triple negative, but some oncologists might have concerns about you using that particular device since it does release a small amount of estrogen.  If you really want to continue using an IUD, there is an alternative that doesn't release any hormones. Definitely something you need to check with the onc about, then your gyne.

Have fun at your lunches, ladies.  Hopefully, I'll be able to join you at one of the dinners.

I LOVE Costco.  Here's how awesome the products are that Costco carries:  When we were in Italy a few years ago, I asked our guide to take us somewhere to get the best pasta in that region to take home. I bought several bags from a local shop and had to jam it in my suitcase to bring all the way home.  After returning, I happened to go to Costco, and yep, there was my pasta that I had dragged all the way from Italy.  LOL.  It actually is really good pasta, but I could have used that extra room in my suitcase for other stuff!

Im also still trying to decide on a team for surgery and only have until tomorrow to do so which makes me want to bury my head like an ostrich... My brain is too foggy for me to have to decide something like this :( im afraid to leave rush because im so comfortable there.. But i feel like the team at evanston is giving me more options.
