Zap--great news on the baby and DD.

Katie--last one!  last one!  last one!

My good news--getting my nip tatts the day after my birthday! Feb 8th at the NW office.  I get to pick out the size and the color.  Luckily they had a "before" picture of me, and I would like to try to follow this as much as possible.

KatieP...not sure how much I can help but I sure understand the weariness of having to make plans when feeling yucky.  My surgery was in Evanston. My chemo was at Highland Park (affiliated with Evanston). My rads were at Glenbrook (affiliated with Evanston).   I probably lost what the issue was as there have been so many posts.  I think both Rush and Evanston are great.  Are you getting contradicting suggestions on how to proceed? I was on an HMO so I had fewer options...but I did have options within my providers.  I chose not to have reconstruction but Dr. Fenner (affiliated with Evanston)  was suggested and I hear from others that he is well-respected.  I would hate to consider myself passive, but I generally did not do well with too many choices once the regime began.  I felt too awful to make choices, so I trusted my gut, my doctor and my family to help me with narrowing it all down.  I did mention an unfortunate experience I had with one doctor, but that doctor has since left and frankly, I feel her error was human error, and I am able to accept that magnificent doctors are capable of making human errors.

Good luck.  If you want to know more about my experience with  my Evanston team, PM me.

    Susan

Adey - This is the pasta: http://www.pastagarofalo.it/us/

The pappardelle is my favorite.  Not exactly okay on a gluten-free diet though. :(

Whew... lots of catching up to do with you gals.  I am still in Seattle taking care of granddaughter while her "Mr Mom" dad is back in Europe visiting his parents.  I feel like I have to constantly be watching the clock to make sure I get back and forth to school and all her activities.  Too much time in the car!  Why can't these kids just stay home and play once in a while?

Lots of discussion here on organics.  My daughter's home here is just a few blocks from PCC which is a completely organic grocery store, bakery and deli. Lots of vegan and gluten free stuff too. I can spend alot of time and money in there.  My two bags of groceries the other day cost me $230!  Of course, I grabbed a couple of "paraban free" cosmetic items that were rather pricey.

Yeh for hair sprouts.  Can't wait to see your photos, Robo.

Wow - I have missed alot of posting going on!  I have been busy at work this week -- my first "full" week back (and first week with no dr.'s appointments since probably the beginning of December!).  I worked at home Monday, but have been in every other day, including today.  Was extremely tired by the time I got home on Tues and Wed.  But felt really normal yesterday, and am hoping for relative normalcy from now till my next treatment on Thursday (2/2).  mdg, couldn't join you for lunch yesterday because of work busy-ness, but would love to come and try that restaurant with you another time -- it sounded great!  katiep - yay for last treatment, sorry about the fuzziness.  I can really understand how hard it would be to make a decision while fuzzy, but I agree with following your gut instinct.  Lisak - sorry you are so bored, and totally understand how you feel.  I think it's the lack of "normalcy" that makes it even worse.  I have been wanting to feel normal, even just temporarily, and I think that for me, being at work has helped with that. Joan, sounds busy but fun in Seattle.  Zap - yay for the positive baby news!  Hi to all I've missed and Happy Friday!

Ok....I'm looking at a bright sky -- some muted sun --- for the first time in two days or more, and it is due to rain again tonight.  This has definitely been a California winter so far.....though colder a lot of the time.  Lemon -- you are onto something there, with your normal fitting better when you do what you always do.  If you are not used to focusing on yourself it is a big unwieldy transition sometimes......so glad it is going well.

Wow !!! Joan ---- I'd be loving every bite, but it does sound interesting.  I'm afraid I just have to make do pretty much in the regular groceries....though we try to make a trip when we can to Trader Joe's.   Keep hoping they will see fit to put one across the river on our Illinois side as we have to cross the river and go into a suburb of St. Louis, Mo right now. Sigh!!!

Susan -- always thinking of you and dd though I don't say much.  You pretty much do know the sorts of thoughts I would be having anyway.  I just know that on a personal level it takes some doing to have them....glad you are pretty much there.

I'll be checking in after work today.....looking forward to my week-end off.....probably more so as I have missed my sun so much this week.

    Hugs, Jackie

So... I found this funny.  I let my dog out after my shower, of course he's barking to get in before I have completed my ritual.  You know, getting back into the compression, doing drains, etc.  So I'm walking down the stairs, holding two drains in my hand, tubes coming out of my hips, neckid, shark bite butt, nippleless franken boobs (which I love by the way) and thinking wow if a burglar broke in right now I'd scare him to death!  Tongue out

Have a great day all!  Drain cound down 3 or 4 more days.  Almost there.  Woot.

Yay for hair!  So glad to hear that you gals are getting it back.  It really helps improve the mood!   It will come in like a lead gray at first and may be curly!  Mine was!

Hope everyone is doing well!  I haven't checked in in a while and don't have time to read all the posts.

    Have a great day!

Nice lunch yesterday with a few of you gals!  Glad we did it.  Sorry...we did not take photos.  We always forget to do that.....the lunch was great and we enjoyed a glass of prosecco!

Madismommy - YEA on the sprouting!  That's great news!!!!

Robo - that's cool that you did the photo shoot. You know BC can strip you of so much if you let it.  We can't lose site of the fact that we are still beautiful women inside and out despite scars, no hair, etc.....  We all need to remind ourselves that the wonderful beautiful women we were before BC is still in there somewhere.  I hope you like the photos.

Adey - thanks for the visual of you on the stairs!  LOL!  Good one!

Jackie - I hope you get a TJ's near you. I can't imagine not having it so close...

Lemon - I hope your energy level picks back up.   Glad you are keeping busy though.  We can meet for lunch again - just let me know where/when!  Enjoy this weekend before you go for round 2 next week.  Hugs!

Joan - yes the organic is expensive.  I am sure on the coast things cost even more!  I do have to shop around for good deals.

Speaking of organic, I went to that store Fruitful Yield yesterday to check it out.  It is much smaller than a regular grocery store, but they have a lot of healthy and organic options.  Prices were high though.  I will probably just go there for things I can't find anywhere else to avoid having to drive to Whole Foods in Warrenville.  Fruitful Yield has several locations.  Here's a link in case anyone is looking for a location near them:

Today marks 1 day from my BMX.  I can't believe it has been a year.  Today was much different than a year ago.....I am having a good day and stress free too.  I am completely reconstructed too.  For those of you just starting out..just remember 1 year makes a big difference.  Hang in there!!!

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday :)

lisaK my neighbor had her exchange a week ago and our PS (we have the same team) felt she wasn't healing correctly so he restitched her today too. This happens.

Katie, I wrote a bunch as a pm and now I realized you only asked one question.

Worked today and my best friend there told me she has to go for a biopsy after the mammogram/ultrasound.  I looked up the chances that a breast  lump is cancer and it looks good for her (90% are not) and so I am hoping that it all works out. She  "took care of me" when I went through all one must go through with treatments as a I chose to remain teaching  while going through surgery, chemo and rads.  She is a bee charmer  in my life.

Yes, I am feeling  so fine about "grand baby zap" and I think this girl will be  a real asset to the world at large.  And yes, Jackie, I am also  tracking with your manner of thinking about life and destiny......and it keeps me focused that it will all work out as intended.  Have you heard of Dwyer?  I listen to his tapes while going to and from work.

    Have a great weekend ladies.

Hi Everyone!  No way I could ever catch up on the posts. Nice to see your post Connie. I agree yay for hair.  Mine came back in curly too, but has gone back to it's straight self.

Sorry to read about BJ and Zaps coworkers. Thoughts and prayers for good results.

And to those going through tx, hugs to you and take it one step at a time. It does get better although it's hard to see that now.
