    Cool Lemon!  That's awesome!

Adey - I have a vision of you whipping those drains around saying "yaaa hoo!" or something.  Glad you got a shower free of the drains!  It's the simple things that make us happy :)

Zap - the trip sounds wonderful.  That is something to really look forward to!

Hawk - I picked up my order from Wallace Farms today.....so excited!!!

Wendy - I hope you are feeling better!  Hugs!!!

Lago - about the sleeves....so do all of us that have had BMX and sentinel nodes removed need a sleeve to fly?  I don't have a trip by plane planned til fall but I guess I have to keep that in mind.  I had only sentinel nodes taken from both sides.

Hope everyone had a good week.  Tomorrow is Friday!!!  :)

MDG the sleeve flying thing is controversial if you don't have LE. If you have LE it's a must. For 1 node I'm not so sure I would wear one unless I had symptoms but then again you never  know. I do have LE on the 10 node side. My 4 nodes side does get  heavy feeling at times and I did have cording on that side at one time. I didn't wear it on the way home from Cape Cod and I did feel that arm get a little heavy. I always wear one on my LE arm. I also think I'm predisposed. My  more had LE in her legs for years as did her uncle.

You can read more about it here but you really need to discuss this with your doctors. Personally I think your risk is pretty low and wearing a sleeve might to more harm than good since you don't have LE. I have read even wearing something you get at the sports store might not even be a good idea.

2 chemos down, 6 to go.  I got an email from a co-worker yesterday morning that said, "Good luck with #2 today!"  He then followed that up with another email saying, "I've just realized that my first email sounded like potty-training encouragement for my 2 year old - sorry!" Going to work for half a day today, then pick up my wig this afternoon.  Thinking of you all, as always,  Lisa

Morning! More above-average temps! This is great!

YAY! For no more drains! I only had the one for about a week and that was long enough for me.

Lemon...what a sweet co-worker! 2 down!!!!! You should buy 4 of those lottery tickets where you win $5,000 for life and scratch them off after the next tx's! You never know!

Zap...sounds like a great trip! How's Grandbaby Zap? ( Little Zap?)

I had 7 nodes out and do not have LE. However, like Jackie, I remember the story from here where that gal only had a couple of nodes out, flew a hundred times with no sleeve and no problems. Flew that 101st time and she got LE. Scared me enuf that I checked with all my cancer docs and they recommended Grimm's medical supply right here in St Charles for light compression, off-the-shelf Jobst sleeve and gauntlet. I would never fly without them but this is just what was recommended for me. Also....if you wear a sleeve, wear either the gauntlet or a glove with it...there was another story on here about a gal who developed severe hand LE who didn't do that. It was also suggested that I wear the stuff while working out, cutting grass, vacuuming just to be sure....but that I don't do. And truthfully...sometimes my "bad" arm does feel heavy after doing those chores. Probably should wear it then too. But like I said...this is just what I was told and what I do.

    Happy Friday all!

Lemon....I love your caring friend.  I hope you are all going to have a marvelous Friday.  We will possibly have a good rain later...."rats" and it would be ok but the warmth ( though we have had a lot lately ) has not totally dried out some areas......so  I fear a lot more mud than I'd like to see.  I hope I'm not being a downer and seeing what is in the glass the wrong way....I just hate the idea of the extra cleaning.

Anyway.....I do hope its a good day for all of you.....even if I end up with mud.....because I'll have to voyeuristically borrow your day.  Hmm, not sure that is a word......see you all later.

    Hugs, Jackie

Lemon - that was sweet of your co-worker - the "potty training" follow up just made me laugh out loud at my desk at work.

I was supposed to had rx #14 today but the machine broke.  At least it is a three day weekend off of rx which it probably great for my pink skin!

Any Peoria area ladies planning on being team captains for the race in May?  They are having a team captain meeting at the office in the Metro Center Thursday at 7:00pm.  Just wondering if I might see any of you there.

First off....Komen has reversed its decision....and it didn't take long ladies.  Never understimate the power of people you piss off in a big way.  Sorry for the vulgarity.....but not doing whatever you can.....no matter what someone's income is.....was just plain wrong from the get-go

Welcome llBoys Mom  I don't have any idea how many people here may be from the Peoria area , but this is a site that really caters to Illinois women and I see you only have 47 posts.  No matter what answers you may get to your question......please know that you are welcome here should you wish to come.

    Hugs, Jackie

Just trying to catch up with you chatty ladies. I'm still in Seattle Playing "nanny" for my DD and granddaughter. Whew! They keep me busy. Finally the sun is shining bright today so am looking forward to some real vitamin D.

LE.... I fly alot and always wear my sleeve and gauntlet on one arm. I find that I really need it when vacuuming. In fact my LEPT said that is one of the worst things for LE. I was too lazy to go get mine on the other day and my hand got pretty swollen. I found this interesting.... I met a woman several months ago who works at our local health food store. She noticed my sleeve and began to tell me about her own BC story. She was treated at Cancer Centers of America. Said that when she woke up from her BMX, she was already wearing a sleeve and gauntlet. She was told to keep them on for six months and she has never had a problem. As for me, my BS gave me another script for PT and I am headed back there next week.

I am hoping to be able to fly home early next week. First thing I have to do is put my kitchen back together after the remodeling. Not looking forward to it. Told my DH not to do that without me. He has no clue where anything is in the kitchen. Sigh.....

Big YEAH for Budders. That is terrific news. Lemon... Sounds like your co-workers are so wonderful. Hope we can get together in CL when I get back. I am so close, let me know if there is anything we can help you with.

Thinking of all of you. Everyone make the most of this day!

Joan we both have a diagnosis of LE and a lot more nodes than MDG had. She just had 2 and doesn't have LE. This is where the controversy is about wearing sleeves if you don't have it. BTW do you wear your sleeve all the time. I do but I still haven't been able to reduce some of the thickness in my lower arm. It's not much bigger but is not flabby like the right arm.

The potty training email is classic!

    Robo - Yay for fuzz!

I think we need an official "No-Mo-Drains!" dance.  What a relief it is to finally get rid of those.

I don't have LE, but I do wear my sleeve and gauntlet whenever I fly.  That change in pressure can cause vascular issues, so I find it very easy to believe that it could also cause issues for anyone with any amount of compromise to their lymphatic system.  I do hate that gauntlet though.

I'm going to get Xtreme Lash extensions put on in a couple of weeks.  Normally, I wouldn't spend the money on something like this, but my friend in Indiana has them and constantly raves about them. Her DIL is an aesthetician certified in applying them, so she's doing them at a huge discount for me.  I'm not sure if I'll keep them up or not (probably not; it's too pricey), but I'm excited to try them out.  For those who aren't familiar, they are real hair extensions added to your own lashes - one by one - and they last until those lashes fall out on their own.  This can be anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks.  They really look amazing, no mascara necessary.  I used to have great natural lashes, but I swear, after having them fall out 3 or 4 cycles post-chemo, followed by all the years of Femara, they've never been the same.  So, this will be fun for a few weeks. :)

Wendy, thinking of you all the time and sending lots healing thoughts.

Rene-  I've had them done two or three times.  They are great to begin with but very expensive to keep up.  Have fun!

I have had no LE on the non-cancerous side. The side affected with LE only had 6 nodes removed. My LE PT explained that any woman has between 20 and 60 nodes under each arm. So taking 6 away from me who probably only had 20 to start with (since I am so small???) is far different than taking 6 away from somebody who had 60. I go in spurts with my sleeves. Sometimes the sleeve seems to make it worse so I go without to test that theory. But I always wear the sleeve when flying, cycling, playing tennis and golf and working at my computer. I also go through a series of 15 exercises that I do that my LE PT gave me. Unfortunately, I am having a real difficult time right now with mt Aromasin side effects and my carpal tunnel. Always something. I see my ONC next week so will have lots up for discussion. I have a list!

Yeah Joan I hear you with being small and in my case having  10 nodes removed on the cancer side and  4 on the other. 4 nodes is 1/5 of my nodes assuming 20. That seems like a lot. I am so concerned of having bilateral LE. I'm used to the one sleeve all the time but if I had to wear 2 all the time I think I'd pass out in the summer.

Wow!  The power of social/internet networking.  I am amazed that this whole Komen controversy had a turnabout in less than 48 hours.  Probably would never have happend in the days of snail mail.  I was contacted by about 15 organizations/friends/ relatives by email and then there was facebook!  We truly are in a new world when it comes to communication.  I have to say I loved how this worked and I truly hope that the final outcome on all this will be  beneficial to all men and women who deal with breast cancer in their lives....and frankly that looks like all of us at this time. It seems we all know someone with this disease.

Wendy, Baby Zap is sitting tight.  We are taking it one day at a time.  The monitoring is looking for the heart going out of control fast and thank heavens that is not happening.  It is so odd to me.  They are calling it an abnormal heartbeat, but steady abnormal if you understand me.  It is not spiking up or down erratically.  One doctor called it an abnormal heart rate, but perhaps normal for this little one and that just confuses me more.   Everyone seems calmer.  I have since learned that babies can be born with holes, heart murmurs, etc. and that often these things correct with time or can be fixed with a procedure. I just got so weary of worrying that I am calm now and believe that all will be well.  Thanks you for asking.

Super bowl weekend.  My SIL is a crazy Patriots fan.  Actually I think most all Patriot fans are way too intense, but they most certainly are a good team.  Lago, now that I think of it, you may be a Patriots fan as you too are from Boston.  I am sure you do not get as intense as my SIL. Oh good heavens, I sure hope Baby Zap is not  Patriot fan YET!  We need her serene.

    Have fun!

Glad to hear your good news Buddy!   Woo hoo!!!

Lemon - congrats on the promotion.  I had a great work environment too when I went through this.  I think it actually helped keep my mind off of everything by getting up and going to work.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Lisa -- That's what I did with the fills.... I was a B cup before surgery and stayed a B cup .... though I will admit to being differently shaped than before.  I thought I would go a bit bigger but wimped out.....  for the most part the fills weren't that bad, then I had one that was terribly painful, resorted to vicodin for a couple of days  (which I barely took for my BMX, my pain tolerance is pretty high).   At that point I decided that I was done with the fills and settled for the size that I was at the time.   I don't think that there is a right or wrong answer...   as long as you are comfortable with the result.

I wish I could make lunch next week, but I have plans already on Thursday and Gurnee is a bit far for me.  Have fun!

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend.... I feel like it's a bit of a vacation, had THREE activities for the kids cancelled this weekend... no soccer, no basketball, no youth symphony.  What will I do with all this free time?

Oh Susan, as a native Bostonian, I count myself as a Patriot fan.... but didn't realize until earlier this week exactly WHO was playing in the Super Bowl, that's how bad a fan I am!  Always fun to root for the hometown team, though in two years I will have lived in Chicago longer than I lived in Boston, so where do I call home from a sports perspective?  I will always favor the Bulls over the Celtics, but will still prefer the Red Sox over any other baseball team, since I could literally look at the Citgo sign over Fenway Park from my house......

    Happy Saturday Everyone-

Had appt with onc yesterday. Oncotype scores were 16 and 17, no clear decision on treatment. More tests, then hopefully something.

Received sleeves and gauntlets for both arms, have to practice putting the sleeves on...

    Back to work on Tuesday.

    Have a great weekend-

Spunky I put mine on with playtex gloves. You should be wearing them when you wash dishes, housework etc so  you don't get cuts in your hands or dry them out anyway. They really make it a lot easier to put on because you can really grab them with the gloves.

BTW I would think your age would play a part in the equation but I can see how you would be in a gray area with grade 1 and no nodes. Granted I'm no doctor. Did they give you a percentage of how high your ER/PR is?

Still warm enough to just wear a few sweatshirt for the power walk. Now I need to do my  lower body strength training today.
