Ha! Lago, did you ever see Mean Girls? The weather was predicted by her boobs. (c: We got about 4 ish inches of sloppy wet snow.

I saw it a long time ago. My boobie prizes have no functions other than to look pretty.

It was sunny about an hour ago but now it's "Hill Street Blues" weather. Funny thing about that show was the only actor that came close to looking like a Chicago cop was Dennis Franz.

I remember Hill Street!
You may already know about this Corrine but here it is anyhoo, you too BJ!
www.chicagoevents.com There are 5Ks and I also found a festival on my bday weekend, woot, although there's always a party as it's Cinco de Mayo! (c: I turn 50 on the 5th, is that 10 times a golden bday? (c:

I'm sure she's still passed out and in dreamland. As you know this will be the last time she gets to sleep till she gets home. You know how they seem to wake you up ever 2 hours:
take vitals
once the remove IV , take meds
you need to pee
BS residents makes rounds at 5am
PS residents make rounds
PCP resident checks up on you
time to eat that stuff they call food but your so nauteous you don't eat (why they wake you for that I'll never know)
new nurse shift decides they need to introduce themselves0 -
Oh, and don't forget those stupid vibrating boots they make you wear to keep from getting blood clots..... those things drove me crazy and I had to wear them the whole 2 days I was in the hospital.
0 -
Oops I forgot to put that on the list. Hate them too. Made having to pee such a production. By the time the nurse showed up and unhooked the IV, booties… I'm surprised I never had an accident.

Hey you NW suburbs girls. Due to badminton lessons I found a great restaurant in Libertyville. They have this crusty bread with a lentil... paste, sauce, it's like hummus and it's spicy and friggin' delicious. The food and atmosphere are good too! Anyhoo, it's called Firkin and here is the website; www.firkinoflibertyville.com Bon appetite!0
-
They have lessons fore badminton? Excuse me for finding this funny but it almost sounds a little like having lessons for playing horse shoes

I know right! This isn't your garden party badminton. 'Tis very competitive. Much more popular every where but here, especially China. See you later!

Hi ladies,real sorbbutbdoin good

Yeah Katie ... so glad to hear from you!
My fifteen year old will be spending every day next week trying to make the high school badminton team.... and usually they won't cut freshman, but so so many girls showed up for the informational meeting that they are definitely going to have to cut, and pretty deep. She's a decent athlete, but badminton is one the most popular girls sports out in our suburb. Who knew?
Lago -- you grew up in Boston... remember how popular field hockey was? Can you think of anything scarier than groups of teenage girls with sticks?

Katie! You are officially a tough Illinois Gal!!!! Gentle hugs, Sweets!

Katie, Sending positive thoughts and prayers to you as you recover.
I am in northern WI at a hockey tournament this weekend and, though it wasn't a treatment week for me, am feeling very tired and cranky. My girls are with my parents, so it is just me and DS. DH will be home later today to get the girls, but there's no practical way for him to switch places with me. I just don't want to be here and don't feel like socializing. I have gotten some really bad mouth sores. Have prescription mouthwash, but it doesn't help much. Also have bad headache and post-nasal drip which I think is allergies. Taking allegra but that isn't helping much either. My son has food allergies, and isn't really old enough to be responsible for his food choices, so I can't just send him off with other parents when there is food involved (which is often). Not to mention that many of the parents let their kids eat tons of junkie food and drink lots of soda. I am ok with some treats, but not the constant deluge I am seeing. Oh, and last night at dinner, one mom was going on and on about why her family is vegetarian (which is fine, in and of itself) and how anyone who gets cancer is probably responsible for it because they have eaten too much processed food and meat. I have always been mindful of what I eat, and am mrs so now, but to suggest that I am responsible for this cancer . . . I just wanted to punch her. She doesn't know I have cancer, but it just put me in a really bad mood. Sorry for this rant, ladies, I am just sitting here in my hotel room wishing I were home.0 -
Katie, glad you are doing good. May you have a smooth and quick recovery.
Really, badminton is big? I loved it in high school. I hurt my elbow playing volleyball so switched to "cripples gym" as we called it and we played badminton. Adey are you taking lessons at the tennis club in L'ville? I could get into that.
Lemondrop oh my how ignorant people are. Wish I had been there to remind her that Linda McCartney died of cancer and she was a vegetarian. Someone said to me that blueberries prevent cancer. Since I eat blueberries nearly every day, I responded "Don't count on it."

Live your life each day as you would climb a mountain. An occasional glance toward the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point. Climb slowly, steadily, enjoying each passing moment; and the view from the summit will serve as a fitting climax for the journey. -Harold V Melchert

I'm totally with you Lemon. No offense to anyone please, but it is really tiresome to hear tirades about someone else's choices about their health. Just looking at so many of you that I was able to meet in person it is easy to see that you are ALL quite conscious of your health.
In my own way I am somewhat on that page as I believe we are going to get what we get......no matter what style of eating or.....that we choose and that very person that you listened to Lemon will as well.
I try hard not to 'spoon-feed/force' any of my 'knowledge' if it is really there --- because it is MY truth --- what I am allowed to see and feel and know and it is just like Size 10 or 14. So, I will explain if I think someone may be interested but beyond that ---- inadvertently calling people out is really disrespectful. Hope your week-end eases a bit Lemon. Two Hobbies.....you know what your talking about and good for you.
Kate ( hope you don't mind as my daughter's name is Kate ) I second Wendy. You are official now as you went thru your first 'trial by fire'. We knew you could do it. To use the words of our leader from the top of the page -- Rita, it is doable no matter how daunting it seems beforehand. Just rest and when you need a break.....come here for some hand-holding and understanding.
Sure glad it's Saturday. Weather has settled back from the high winds and the tiniest snow/sleet pellets that I've seen in a long time from yesterday. I'd sure like to have some sun....but I'm not sure when.
Hope you all have a marvelous Saturday.
Hugs, Jackie
oops !!!! meant to say the badminton is a new one to me as well. It was an un-known for most of my growing up years though we did play in my teen-age yrs when it finally found its way to our little ( 200 people in my town then ) spot on the globe. Sigh !!! Boys were beconing a lot more fun then.

Yay Katie. OMG I can't believe you're posting already. I felt like crap for 2 days (thanks to the anesthesia).
lisaMomOfFour yeah we had to play field hockey in gym. I think my mom was on the fieldhockey team. I never quite understood the sport. It's a preppy sport.
lemondrop, f*ck her. OMG do I hate people like that. Cancer is a very strange disease. I swear it's the healthy people that get it. BTW I probably ate healthier before diagnosis. All these lunches/dinners with the ladies I now drink more too
Seriously ignore idiots like that. She doesn't know anything about the disease. I still feel stress has a huge part in it. Most of us in the US eat tons of processed food… we all don't get cancer.0 -
Katie-so glad to hear from you. Sending continuous prayers that you're recovery will be quick.
Lemondrop-so sorry to hear about your situation. I hope you feel better soon and can get back home. As for the vegomaniac, I would not have been able to hold back-I would have interrupted her rant and told her I had cancer and see what she had to say. I'm guessing it would have shut her up post haste.
Dinner gals-looking for those pics of all the lovely ladies...
Have a great Saturday everyone-stay warm!

Katie...WOW....you're one tough chick to check in already.... Now go rest!!!
Lemon....omg, what ignorance. I would have ended up losing my cool with that person!!!0 -

O'MyGosh......you all look so good and yummy is sitting in the plates right in front of you....it is making me hungry. Seriously.....forget the plates....I think its just good medicine when you all are able to get together. Adey.....I see you clearly and you look good for all your recent "work". Your smiles are contagious.....I sit here studying the picture and at some point realize that I have a big smile too --- it is why we always want a picture.
Big thanks for the pic.......and good for all of you.
Hugs, Jackie

Another fun time!
Mad and I were thinking about a summer barbecue and bonfire where we can throw selected cancer "crap" in the flames. Wigs, mastectomy camisoles, binders, paperwork, whatever! I was thinking at my house but....... onward has a pool!

Katie- Healing vibes and gentle hugs.
Lisa- What! Can't believe we didn't talk badminton last night. (c:
Lemon- What's her name? I feel like popping her one up side the head! Kidding of course but oh my goodness what a pushy twit. There are many smoker/standard American diet people that do not have cancer and many vegan/vegetarians that do. Of course we can try to help by not smoking, reducing stress, and watching what we eat but it is still random and we should NEVER be blamed. Or to put it more succinctly, what lago said, f**k her.
TwoH- I think the club is in Buffalo Grove. I can send you the info if you are interested. It is too far for me. My dd was taking lessons to prepare for try outs so dh and I would drop her off, go to dinner, and then pick her up. About a 3.5-ish hour event.
IllLady- Thanks! And I'm interested in your truth. (c:
Lago!
