Delighted to hear the great news, Joan!  You'll be able to catch up on sleep when you get home, and enjoy some pampering from you DH. So good of him to let us know how you were doing.

Joan- wishing you a speedy and comfy recovery.  Glad to hear all went well!

Smerf- where do you live in Glenview (if you don't mind saying).  I grew up in Glenview and my parents are still there.  Small world!

Adey... No drains for you. You had them quite a while. I am now sporting 4 drains. Yuck. May have them 3-4 weeks. Sure hope they go faster than that. Any ideas how to disguise them other than big, baggie shirts? These see worse than my BMX drains.

Thanks, Robo. I had one of those camisoles for my BMX and gave it away. Didn't think I would ever need it again. Actually not sure if it would work. All 4 of these drains are pretty much in the same place if you can imagine that. I have lots of regular camis so I think I can just sort of tuck them inside a cami. Sounds like I could lose one drain next Thursday when I see my PS. My worst problem now is that my LE is worse than ever. Wearing my Caresia here in the hospital. No way could I get my regular compression sleeve on.

Joan that sucks about the LE. I know after surgery my range reduced and I had to go back to PT at least one time. Tell your PS to let you know when you can start doing ROM exercises again so you don't stiffen up too much. I'm sure it will be several weeks though.

Joan-I have some mastectomy cammies I'd be happy to send your way, too. I also found a sweatshirt at Target that had inside pockets which I used for drains-I've worn it to smithereens or I'd send it your way, but they may still have them at Targert. If I get there I'll take a look and let you know.

    HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joan.....wow !!!!! Already looking way ahead and finding good solutions to your present situation.  Here's hoping you lose those drains really, really fast.

Rain today and maybe over the week-end but it will/has begun to pull in warmer weather and that is just not a bad thing.  I'll be using that famous soap...Murpny's to wash all my kitchen cabinets and polish them.  Needed new knobs ( I bought really cheap ones 9 yrs. ago to tide us over till I found some I really liked ) for my whole kitchen ( 25 ) and since the cheap ones were working I never got around to it.

A couple of those old plastic things have broken....so got busy and found some nice ones.  So, cleaning is definitely scheduled into my week-end.  Comes at a good time of yr. anyway.  Big intentions to do plenty.....might as well include cabinets.

Hope you are all looking forward to a great week-end.

    Hugs, Jackie

Robo remember that we are living longer so I assume that is part of the reason for that statistic. The longer we live (and resolve other maladies that would have  killed us long ago) the higher the chance we will get some kind of cancer. Remember the youngest baby boomer is 50 YO. Our elderly population is bigger than ever.

Joan, I know the LE will get under control as soon as you are healed enough to do the PT.  I also know you must be very frustrated as you are a very active woman.  Don't you think all this will be history by the time summer comes along?

One luxury I allow myself is to have a woman who cleans my house twice a month (well actually she keeps the marriage together as DH is a very tidy person, so more of a necessity than a luxury).  I purchased all these "Green" cleaning supplies and she told me she refused to use them as they do not work.  We do use a GREEN dishwasher detergent as, Robo, I too was concerned with how caustic the regular powders are. I also at least feel that all cancer cases are increasing. I also feel that all autoimmune diseases are rising (Crohns. Colitis, allergies).  I hope I am just sensitive to the numbers and  that in fact they are not rising.....maybe just more being diagnosed.

So pretty outside.  There was a mistake and I showed up for work and the teacher  who ordered me  had it wrong. I was thrilled to go home......such a great day. My cat is purring like crazy as she likes me home for company....so cute!

Waiting for my DH's limo service to go home. Feel so much better today. Got another shower all by myself. Threw on a little make-up and got dressed. I will probably crash when I ger home. Back incision is sore and doesn't help that I am lugging around these 4 drains. My PS did warn my nurses that I was a "tiger" and very active. Ha! Guess I will be moving a little slower for a few weeks.

    Hi:

Edited to reflect my calmer demeanor.  This morning I was alerted by MANY that my email account was hacked by some horrid person.  I spent the entire morning trying to clean up the mess.  Caryn, Wendy and Kater let me know and helped me figure out what to do.  I changed my password, alerted as many mail contacts as I could and did a scan.  Thanks ladies for helping me. If any of you get a "weird" email from me....delete it.

Here is what I learned from this experience.

    1. Look over your e-mail  contacts in Yahoo.  I have never updated my list and it was begun in 2002!  Many of these people I do not even know anymore.  Perhaps 50 of these contacts should have been edited before now. All of them got the bad guy's message using my name.

     2. Change your password (facebook too) immediately as the bad guy gets out as many as he can and then sends out a second bunch. He knows you will likely change the password when you catch it.

     3. Do a scan immediately. Notify facebook and yahoo of the problem.

    4. Tell the bad guy to go to hell as loud as you can.....but never open the email and send  that message back to him via his spam.

At least he didn't have me selling penis enlargements or viagra from my home pharmacy!

    What a mess!

    Susan

Welcome Home Joan! Hoping the LE doesn't worsen.

Susan-I had that happen to me, too. I changed my password and it never happened again. When do you start your tea ceremony gig?

Joan - Glad to hear the surgery went smoothly.  4 drains.. yikes. I bought those stick-on pockets for my last surgery, but they weren't always reliable.  I felt much more confident just using big safety pins to pin the drains inside my shirt, or on my pants waist.

Susan, I got one of the spam emails, but knew right away what it was. I've gotten these several times from various friends.  One of my friends had her acct. hacked after using a public (!) internet cafe in Mexico.  All of us in her address book got emails in Spanish from her account for weeks!  LOL.

Robo - I didn't know you were a runway model, but yes, I can totally see it now that you mention it.  I also keep forgetting how close you are to me.  I'm near Schick and 59.

Just thought I'd share this article link that came in my recent sonography newsletter.  Some interesting statistics (from a recent study) about the accuracy of detecting breast tumors using mammography, ultrasound and MRI. This is the line that sticks out to me:

Eleven cancers, or 10 percent, were not found by any of the three screening technologies, said the study.

Here is the LINK to the whole article.

Lago, you get tech.  Can you tell if the hack was thorugh YAHOO or FACEBOOK.  How could the latter get an email account from my account?

    Have a great weekend.

Susan you've cleaned stuff up but if you had your email address posted on facebook he could have found it there if it wasn't blocked properly. My guess is it was hacked through yahoo but he might  have found your email address on facebook.

My husband had his hotmail hacked. Hotmail suspended his account before he realized. (People can report spam. If too many people report a specific address as spam in a short period of time hotmail will suspend). He did get it all cleared up and clean with hotmail.

    This stuff happens.

Zap, that happened to me last year.  I too had e-mail contacts going back years - my son's soccer coaches, former teachers etc.  And the worst of it, all my doctor's and nurses got e-mails!  So embarrasing.,  I have since learned that aol and yahoo have poor security so I shut down my aol account and got g-mail.  I use yahoo for junk mail and gmail for real mail.  And yes I didn't change my password in time and a second one went out.

Also unfortunately you're right about the autoimmune disease and alllergies too.  One theory is we're too clean.  Third world people do not have allergies, and interestingly as we've gotten rid of worms and parasites, our allergies and Crohn's disease has increased.  Can't win!  So put away even those green cleaners and let the kids and grandkids play in the mud.

Joan, glad you are home and sounds like you're doing well.  Showers are one of those things you really appreciate after you haven't had one for a few days.

Robo I remember when I was a kid it was 1 in 10 women got breast cancer.  Now its 1 in 8.  Definitely going in the wrong direction and probably multi-factorial.  In general our health is not improving, but breast cancer seems frustrating to me because there doesn't seem to be strong facts on how to prevent.

Joan ~ glad to hear you are doing so well.  Please take it easy and slow down.  That back incision is a doozy and the drains placed so close together is just how he does it.  That makes it hard to wear a MX camisole.  Hoping you get some rest and can find a way to get comfortable when you get home.  Keep going, but slower.
