Joan - LOL at "morphine barf club."  I believe I have a membership card too.  Actually, I was always in such a haze post-op, that I'm not sure what it was that kept making me hurl.  They tried several things. The first surgery was the worst, but after that, the hurling was minimized, thanks to the anesthesiologists taking more precautions with meds.  Glad to hear your speech went so well, Joan.  Such a shame about your LE but hopefully they can get that back under control once you are recovered more.

Invisible - Sorry to hear about your lumpectomy option being taken off the table.  As mdg said, there are a lot of us MX ladies here so don't be shy about reaching out if you need support.

Robo - I remember my hair re-growth hitting a wall at one point, or maybe it was just my frustration levels peaking.  But once I got a good base, it started growing like a weed again.  I don't think my hair came back as full as it once was, but perhaps the Femara was a part of that.  I'm happy with it now though, and growing it out like an old hippie. :)

Lago - I had sweet potato fries at the movies last night.  Yum!

Bogie - What a lovely post.  I won't even try to say that cancer doesn't change us, because I think it does, just as any major life event does.  We adapt and try to move forward, granted, sometimes stumbling a bit on the way. I'm still the same old me, but my experiences and perspectives have certainly taken a different path since the cancer meteor struck.  You have such a wonderully optimistic and determined attitude.  This is one place you never have to be embarrassed to talk about your cancer and whatever else, as much as you need to.

Madismommy - I think you look great, and most of all, you look like you were having a wonderful time.

Welcome to all the new ladies.

All this talk of hair is making me want to find a pic of when I first went "topless" in public.  Oddly enough, I don't believe I have any, but since it was at a school dance sponsored by my DD's dance team, I'm sure one of the other moms has some.  I'll have to ask around...

Madismom-you look fab! looks like you had a wonderful time.

Joan-so glad your presentation went well, what an amazing thing to touch so many with your brave words.

Invisible-so sorry, I went through something similar-started with one spot and ended up with four. Started out thinking I'd have a lumpectomy and ended up with BMX. Take your time to get it right ((hugs))

Bogie-it's hard to believe, but things do revert back to some normalcy.

As for my Loyola study-the study is to see what works better to reduce stress, education or meditation/yoga (mindfulness). I'm in the mindfulness group and we meet once a week. Saturday was a mini retreat and it was much more enjoyable than I anticipated.

Hope everyone's doing well and enjoying a relaxing Sunday.

Robo, 6 x TC.  That might have made the difference.  I only had 4, thank heavens.  It will come back in time.  I'm impatient even now for faster growth.  I should just be grateful.  Would massaging your head help, perhaps?  I had hives on my head for 3 months, scratched it a lot!

Madismom, There's a point when you've had enough and don't care about how short or thin your hair might be.  Good for you to go bare on vacation.  I came out at a special dinner for work. Just couldn't wear a wool hat in 80 degree weather with summer dress clothes with no air conditioning. That was when we had 80s in March. Also had to figure out how to look good dressed up w/o a bra since I was at the end of rads.

Illinois Lady,  I love the Twain quote.  I've seen a cat carried by the tail.  It ain't pretty.

c-squared -- Thank you! I'll be leaving here in a bit to head to the cancer center. I'm nervous as hell but so glad not to be going in for Taxol this week (course, that feeling might change once I'm done today...)! How'd it go for you?

Hang in there Kriistin.., it wasn't bad at all for me!  I wish the same for you.  As a matter of fact if I compare today, the first Monday after treatment with AC to the Monday after my first Taxol, I have to say today is better!  Keep me posted.

    Robo!

I think I have to cancel Saturday, dang it.  My dd has her singles conference meet for badminton that day and she is undefeated at her level right now.  Lago stop laughing!  Tongue out  We also have a 75th birthday party.  Crap on toast.  I really wanted to go.  I am calling to cancel today.  Poo.  Is there anyone who would like to fill my spot (FYI this seminar is not only on reconstruction but Lymphedema as well)?  Let me know!

Adey I initially read it as "shingles" and was very concerned.

Robo I might be able to go if it's in the city. I'm curious about the node transfer… unless someone else really wants to go.  Call me later. I'm headed to the gym for some elliptical/treadmill stuff. Finished my strength training. Yeah I know I do that backwards but I want to avoid the trash pick up. I can't get out of my garage when they are doing that.

    Hang in there Kristin.

MakMak where are you? You've been MIA from facebook too. Yeah I know you're just celebrating another birthday!

Hi everyone.. thanks for all the Birthday Wishes.  We had a nice time with family at what else but SUSHI dinner last night.. and a bit of shopping with older DD.. so overall a great day..

My platelets are not happy with this new treatment.. they are well below normal and next treatment may be delayed.. I have tried everything I know of, and it has helped raise my whites and reds nicely.. so at least that's not a worry.. but the darn platelets are becoming quite a pain.. Have a call with the Block Center Dietitian later today to see if she can come up with anything..

Otherwise, getting ready for a cruise with Gabby next week... It'll either be fun or a huge disaster.. depending how she behaves.. as DH is not too patient when she's whiny.. Wish me luck!!

Welcome to soo many new girls!! I do read, just since I haven't undergone any of the surgeries, it's hard to contribute sometimes..

The conference is full and free.  Here is Marga's website www.drmarga.com

You could always call and see if they can fit one more.  They advised me they were overbooked so don't worry about cancelling but if I find a replacement they would accommodate.  Maybe if Lago doesn't go?

    Bye for real.  (c:

    Hi Gals,

I have been reading for over an hour and am still not caught up!  Welcome, welcome to all the new gals.  This is a wonderful place to come!  As you've discovered, the ladies here are awesome and very helpful!

We are about finished with the painting on our "renovation" house and I'm getting to a point where there is nothing else I can do.  I can't lay carpet and floor coverings, install a picture window, or paint the outside trim, so I'm finally getting some reprieve.  I haven't worked this hard since I was in my 30's and we all know how long ago that was!  Remember how I haven't been able to sleep for the past 5 years????   Well on the days when I'm doing all the physical labor, I fall asleep almost immediately. Interesting, eh?

Belated birthday wishes to makmak!  Sorry I didn't get them to you on your special day.  It sounds like you had a good birthday! Super!  Enjoy your cruise!

I will try to be check in more often now.  I didn't remember how hard it was to work 8 hour days, do the grocery shopping and laundry, keep the household in shape, and find some time for oneself!  I worked a few hours in my flower beds today because I'm so embarrassed about how terrible they look.  Give me back my retirement!

Hugs to all of you!  More later..........

    Rita
