So confusing. I have no idea what to wear on my feet.

Since I went to trouble of giving myself a pedi and nice polish job... I am sticking with sandals until Fall. Love it! I have been enjoying some R&R lounging on the deck this afternoon...feeling lazy, but not at all guilty. My DH mowed the lawn and headed to the driving range. It's ME time for now. Well, me and my drain! Grrrr!
JanKlare... Hope you are feeling better.0 -
Ladies, Dr. Susan Love's group is looking for women in the Chicago area to be in a study that will look at the bacteria in the colon and estrogen things. It would involved blood draw and 2 stool samples 7 days apart. It can be done at Rush or at participating Quest labs. You can go to her web site or here is a copy and paste of part of it.
Breast Cancer Microbiota Study
We need women between the ages of 30-80 in the Chicago, IL, metropolitan area. The purpose of this study is to find out what types of bacteria are found in the intestines and how these bacteria metabolize estrogen and other female hormones. The researchers are comparing the bacteria found in women who have never had breast cancer, women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer within the last 5 years, and women who have never had breast cancer but who have a first-degree relative WITH breast cancer. Find out more and sign up.0 -

Hope all went well, Lisa!

Joan-LOVE the quotes. Thank you!
Lisa-Wow, another box checked. Hope all went well and you mend quickly.
Joan-enjoy the me time, you deserve it.

I had my bone & CT scan today. It was a long process. yuck...never had to drink barium before. I finally got my surgery date - May 17th. If that date holds it will be close to 3 months from diagnosis to BMX.
Good luck Lisa! I hope all goes well tomorrow.
MDG - I have been just walking for now but we are members of 24 hour fitness in St Charles (very near the Norris Center). I have horrible arthritis in one knee (the other has been replaced) so I have stuck to walking during nice weather and treadmill/elitpical during the winter.
Hopeful - I got the information about that study when I had my second biopsy at Rush. They asked if I would be interested. I said yes so they may contact me.
Jackie - another great quote today. Thank you. I look forward to reading them every single day.
Lago, my friend, you have talked me off the ledge so many times in the past few weeks...I wish I could help with your job search. I just know the right thing will come along.
I sure can't comment on the weather because I was stuck in the hospital most of the day. But...I did put my A/C on tonight. It's muggy.
I am going to need lots of advice on how to prepare myself for the BMX. Two weeks and counting.

Hi Ladies
I am new on this forum and in this world of BC. I just had a MX 2 wks ago and will start chemo in 3 wks. In Chicagoland area...nice to read about life after breast cancer. Not looking forward to a summer of chemo!0 -
Welcome mamacath, glad you found us!!! I just finished my chemo in dec. 2011 and surprisingly the 105 days went by WAY faster than I thought, I hope it does the same for you!!!! Looking at your diagnosis you and I are very similar....which chemo cocktail are you getting? I had 6 rounds of TAC.

Welcome Mamacath. I too started chemo 5 weeks post surgery. I finished chemo over a year ago. Yes the hair does grow back and you do get your life back. This is just a detour in the journey of life0
-
Hi Mamacath! I hang out on this board too. Welcome! You will get through this and we will be here for support and you can vent all you want....we "get it"!
Lisa can't wait to hear how surgery goes. Good luck.....
Invisible now that it is nice would you like to meet up for a walk outside maybe by the river? Let me know. I am up for it. Don't worry I won't torture you!
Lago...still sending job vibes your way
Joan how are you feeling? I hope on the mend.
I am excited it is finally getting warm again!!!!!0 -

Good morning on this very bright and already quite warm morning. Hoping Calla ( my pale Calico ) doesn't cause me to lose this post.......she so loves to be loved and writhes and prances all over trying to get you to notice her and respond.
Invisible......I am glad you have your date. The more you have to work towards and for ( especially those with specific times ) the more control you feel. Time marches on but at least now you will feel like you were at least consulted and have some say.
(((((((to Joan & Lisa and anyone else who needs them))))))))))))
mamacath......your right....a summer with chemo is going to have yuckies, but we will walk with you every step of the way. Most of us are BTDT's ( been there-done that's ) and will be available to coach you over the humps if they come. The good part is.....sometimes they are not such bad humps...just pretty different from most of what we experience.
Much is said about being positive.....but that is mainly for the inner you. It doesn't cure anything, or even change much, but may help you feel some contentment when you are at the point where you have counted out most of your numbers ( how many chemo's -- how many left ) .
I hope you all have a good day.....hoping the weather map I saw this morning will change a bit for the better.
Hugs, Jackie

Heartburn and headaches. BLEH.
I had a brain MRI last week, and it was fine. The headaches, dizzyness and tinnitus just went on a bit too long so I broke down and had it checked. As scary as it is, I'm a big fan of just getting the damn test and moving on. So, brain is fine, just hurts a lot! We've talked about migraine meds, beta-blockers or anti-depressants, but I think I'm just going to try my bedtime Klonopin again.
This heartburn is making me nuts though. I switched to Nexium, but it's actually worse. Calling the GI doc this morning and hoping for a better suggestion - short of having another scope.
Anywaaay, enough of my whining.
Joan - Pedicures and lazy days.. you totally deserve to indulge and pamper yourself. My DD is coming out here tomorrow and we're going to do the mani/pedi thing.
Mamacath - Welcome to you. I was a June '05 chemo start date, so I had my summer of chemo too. At least we weren't fighting the weather trying to get back and forth to all the office visits. Good luck to you.
Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning ladies. What a warm one! I am going to try to finish up a couple things in the office and hope to get out for a good walk before the storms come this afternoon. If I don't make it by then or gets too humid, I will head to the track at the health club. DH headed out on a big bike ride when our cleaning service showed up this morning. Gosh, I so wish I could get back on my bike. I am soooo jealous.
Welcome Mamacath..... this is a great place to hang out and find support. I spent the summer of 2010 going through chemo. Sure hated to give up my summer to something like that, but there were some silver linings... like no snowy roads, being able to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine during the day and the starry nights, and just heading out for nice walks early in the morning before it got hot, eating good from the farmer's markets, etc.
I am hanging in here. Lat surgery was 3 weeks ago now and I am really feeling like I am getting my strength back. My arm is more movable now and hope that will help alleviate some LE. I have to keep reminding myself that it was a 4 hour surgery and will take time to recuperate. I am a rather inpatient person though and have the thought of the spinal fusion surgery coming in the near future, probably mid-late June. Sure hope that I can take a long break from doctors and hospitals after that is over.
Lisa... ex surgery goes well today. You will be surprised how easy that one is. Invisible.. glad you finally got your surgery date! What a relief that is to be done with all the prelim and onto the healing process.
MDG, maybe we need to set up a group walk one day. That would be fun. Believe it or not, my back is better if I keep walking rather than sitting. I have a 2-3 mile lake route that I do pretty much every day. If I don't get it in during the day, my DH drags me out the door in the evening.

mamacath welcome, I am sorry you have reasons to be here but it is a wonderful group of women.
It really is amazing how the raw emotions that are at the beginning of this journey soften over time. They are there but not as intense.
Do any of you feel uncomfortable seeing people for the first time since your mastectomy that you knew before but haven't seen? Like if you have someone from out of town coming?

Ladies...I think a group walk sounds like a lot of fun! The more the merrier! Now that spring is coming we can get out and enjoy the beautiful greenery! Who can do a day time walk? My son is in school between 8:30am and 3pm so days work best for me. Anyone?? Next week is nuts for me but maybe the week after? Thoughts???

Me.

Perhaps this return to warm weather will perk us all up a bit. I'm off to dig in the dirt and tackle another flower bed. I already played a round of "very bad golf" but a round of "very bad golf" still beats working! :-) Everyone have a great day and enjoy this sunshine.

LOL Lago! I follow and couldn't agree more with the shoes comment. I'm taking a day off tomorrow and getting a mani/pedi and I can't wait!!!!
Welcome Mamacath. So sorry you have to be here too.
Lisa - I hope your exchagne surgery went well. Invisible - yay to having a date.
mdg - a group walk sounds awesome but I work downtown so days don't work for me :-(
