On another subject, keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Have been dealing with lots of headaches. Enough to call the Onc and get an MRI. The day before I couldnt sleep(storm, leg cramps) so I went in very tired. Has anyone else ever FALLEN ASLEEP during an MRI???? Is that wacked or what????

Happy Birthday, you sneak, Adey. Hope you are celebrating this weekend.

Onward... will keep you in my prayers for good MRI report. Falling asleep in an MRI? No better time for a nap.

I am so bummed that we are not getting a view of the super moon tonight. Way too cloudy, but e sky is still very bright.

Happy Belated Birthday, Adey!  Prayers for Onward.  I am up and about to start making chocolate chip pancakes for my 3 babies, but thought I would say hello first.  Yesterday, we had skating, hockey, skating, baseball, skating and skating (my kids love to skate, and it's ice show season).  Both my son and older daughter broke school records (for their grades) in standing long jump last week, so all that skating has given them strong legs anyway!  DH is working this weekend (poor guy had to fly another trip to Hawaii), so I shuttled everyone around.  You know what? It wasn't too bad.  I wasn't exhausted.  I think I am getting back to normal.  The taxol wasn't so bad on me, and over a week from my last treatment, I think I am done with chemo SEs (other than my bald head).  Today, we have hockey game and hockey practice.  I purposely didn't schedule swimming this weekend because we had so much skating.  Laundry and church are also on the agenda.  Tomorrow I am going to an LE therapist, as I have had some tightening in my left arm and it is measuring slightly more than my baseline measurement.  Ugh.  I knew that this could happen (had 16 lymph nodes out on my left side after having a positive sentinel node), but was still hoping I'd get away without having to deal with it. I start rads on Thursday, which I know might make the situation worse, too.  Again, Ugh.  Will be downtown every business day from May 10-June 26 (will be working at my company's downtown office), so hope to join any Chicago get-togethers  Hope everyone has a great day, Lisa

Thanks ladies!  Enjoy this beautiful Sunday.

Lago-  Ha!  How'd you do that?  (c:  Me and all the immediates (12) were at Las Pinatas yesterday, yum.

So, 50 and two years from diagnosis...... I'll take it.

    Onward- Always in my prayers.

Mamacath, I had a PET scan and it was far nicer than the MRI - you are right side up and there is no noise.  I actually fell asleep.  You do have to fast for it and follow a sugar/carb free diet the day before - which is always hard for me!

I am (nervously) starting Tamoxifen today.  Any tips for reducing the side effects?

DeborahC I took the ESD (estrogen sucking drug called Anstrozole) not Tamox. Really scared to take that pill. I took it for 3 months and had no SE. My slight hot flashes actually improved from chemo. After 3 months I started to get stiffness.

So my point is that you may not experience any SE or if you do they could take a bit to come on. Most of us, ESD or EBD (estrogen Blocking drug called Tamoxifen) have minimal SE.

Thanks, lago.  I suppose only the people with terrible SE's post - you get scared reading all the bad stories.  I think my husband was even more terrified of what I would become :)

Deb-  My mom had no SEs from tamox.  I on the other hand had thickening in my endometrial (?) lining.  See gyn onc on Tuesday.  I bet you'll be like mom!  (c:

Onward....thinking about you and hoping the path gets smoother.  Hi to Nana' and nice to see you.  Lemon....glad you are doing so well.  Realizing that you are "movin on" and are ready to go down the path rather than fighting to get up it is always a fantastic feeling.  Some of these side effects keep you guessing and 'longing' for quite a bit of time.......so that positive change really makes you REALLY feel what you have accomplished....and normalcy is the gift you know you deserve.

Deb.....I took a "play it by ear" stance when I started Arimidex/Anastrozole.  I sort of glanced at the insert....for anything super harsh and skipped reading the rest.  It's not because I feared 'getting' something I read.....but guess I'm sort of a realist........don't plan what you don't have too.  Just figured ft something came up....I'd deal with it, when it did.............so until then, if then happened, I didn't really need to know.  I did undergo an adjustment period......when Arimidex went to generic.  Got a lot of aches going on..........and just when I had decided to talk to my Oncologist.........they went away again.  I've got about a yr. to go on this drug --- not sure what is planned, if anything, after that but none of my aftercare has caused me any real problem.

Great cake Adey.......I'll take what's on top.  I hope you had a marvelous day.....knowing every day is a gift.

    Hugs, Jackie

Deborah....I've been on tamoxifen since Jan. 1st....my only s/e is the hot flashes.... Other than that I don't notice anything else. Hopefully you have smooth sailing....

Happy Sunday ladies! Looks like its gonna be a nice day today!

YAY Jackie on clean scans and will keep Onward in my prayers for clean scans too!!!

CC...glad to see you are feeling better, definitely stay in touch with your onc or NP if you feel sick, there's no reason for any suffering with all the different drugs!!

I'm going to a shooting range today with my dad....I haven't fired a gun since he taught me how back in my teens....I'm thinking it might be "therapeutic" for me?!? I still have some anger towards BC, oh And haven't been speaking to my only brother and his wife. (Long story!) :(

Onward, My ankles have been MIA since my initial surgery (although improved). My toenails (and fingernails) have been taxotered so still have some issues. I thought it best not to pose for those photos… not yet anyway.

Well it's 9:30 and I still haven't worked out yet. Time to get my butt moving.

Looks like it's going to be a bit warmer today. Yay! Hope everyone can get out and enjoy

    Happy Belated Adey!

Onward-prayesr and good vibes headed your way.

Lemon-glad to hear you're feeling well.

My familiy joined me for the 5k walk for the Hinsdale Wellness House today.  We completed the event prior to the rain, and I won an Ipod Touch in a raffle-now I'll just have to figure out how to use it.

    Have a great day everyone!

Happy Birthday, Adey!  As usual, I'm a day late but my wishes are sincere!  I hope you  celebrated in style!

Congrats to Jackie and Invisible on good check-ups and scans.  We LOVE good news on this thread.  Thoughts and prayers are with you, Onward as you go through your tests.

Madismom..............just shoot the heck out of that gun!  Take out all your frustrations!  I used to shoot some skeet and do some target shooting back in my YOUNGER days.  It was a great way to work off anxiety and frustrations.  You go, gal!

Susan, I still love Words with Friends but I've found myself gravitating back to Jungle Jewels when I have a few extra minutes and the laptop is booted up.  I need to practice some more!  My skills got rusty!

Nana...so glad you stopped by.  You have been missed!  Hope all is going well for you.

Well, I need to get off of here.  Tonight is our bowling banquet.  No more Sunday evening bowling until Fall now!  I was so ready for it to be over.  I prefer being outside on nice evenings, but love the league during the winter months,.

Hugs to all of you in treatments.

    Belated Happy Birthday Adey!

Good luck to you Onward! I too fell asleep during an MRI. LOL - they don't like when you don't respond so I am sure they called my name several times.

i am on my first business trip since my diagnosis. It's nice to have some normalcy in my life before my surgery. DH and dogs have been spoiled for the past couple of months but I have been miserable working from home full-time.
