LisaMomof4 - How's the new job going?  I figured you've been swamped since we've not heard you much here.  Commuting from the 'burbs, 4 kids, hubby, how you manage????? Is the commute your bit of quiet?  I once commuted by train, but took my toddler DD with me since her daycare was near the job.  Not a quiet commute.

I should be going to all the area art fairs, but I can't handle the combo of heat, humidity and crowds.  With the 57th St fair, I had no excuses since it is so close.  Also Lago and DH showed up.

Hope everyone stays cool this weekend and chills out from SEs, chemo, rads, Tam and AIs.

Lago:  I got your joke andI cracked up!  I will be headed for DT this Friday for the weekend.  I am looking forward to spending time with my family, but not the fatigue since I will be just 9 days PFC. It will probably be pretty hot.  I asked the hotel for an early check-in as our train comes in at 10:41.

Lisamomof4 we're going to the fair today too, probably early. It will be hot. I did it last year wearing my sleeve too and it was hot. I did wear a hat and it helped. I really hope you can make the walk but I understand about the fall schedule.

kijiberty DT=Downtown? I'll be at the fair so look for me if you come. I don't look like my avatar anymore ( 2weeks post 4th chemo). I look like the last picture in my hair transition thread. Might even wear the same jewelry and similar dress.

FYI I don't offend easy. There are only a few things that will really set me off and nobody here that I know of would ever cross that line (at least to my face Tongue out).

ACS Walk remember you don't have to participate in the walk or volunteer to come to the event. There is an entire area for us survivors and support givers (hate the term care giver. Sounds like we're all elderly in a nursing home).

    Keep cool ladies.

I haven't started the job yet... starts this coming Monday.  I got the job out in the suburbs, so I only drive about twenty minutes, I'm grateful.  It's also working with a whole lot of people that I worked with at two different companies dating back to the late nineties, we all know each other pretty well.

I have been busy though!   Summer camp schedules were crazy this year, and we were juggling two different plays, one for the teenagers, and one for one of the eleven year olds.  Insanely busy.     Then Boston to visit my aunt.  Such a nice trip, I love Boston.

I am hoping that once I settle into the job, I'll still have time for a social life.  Would love to see everyone again soon!  and mdg I still have your sweater.....

    Hey all - Happy Saturday!

I've been trying to catch up reading posts.  Working seems to zap all my energy these days so I am not as up to date in reading this thread.  The good news is that I do feel a little stronger each day.

    KJ & Roula - congrats!

Heidi - Welcome!  Wear something comfortable.

Lisa - Good luck with your new job!

Lago - What's a trigger finger?  I am probably going to end up on the ESD's (I love that name).

To all who have had a BMX:  Does the feeling of tightness ever go away?  I had my BMX on 5/17 and then the second surgery on 5/31 (for skin necrosis).  There is absolutely no fill in my TE's because of the skin issue.  It feels like I am wearing a bra that is 4 sizes too small.  It's not painful as much as uncomfortable.  Does this ever go away?  I am wondering what it will feel like when they start doing fills.

    Stay cool this weekend!

Invisible it's when you try to straighten your finger and it kinda sticks then snaps up. You are still healing from surgery so it will take time to get all your strength back but you'll get there. I never really had too much tightness I think because I was so numb or it just didn't bother me. I do hear it goes away but will take some time. Nice to see you.

invisible2, I also had extra surgeries to take care of the necrosis. My ps ended up draining all fluid out of te and kept it that way for about 6 wks before starting fills again. That allowed time for complete healing. When we started up again, she only put in 50cc at a time and then I went straight to pt for massage. It wasn't too bad then. Good luck!

Lisa... Congrats on the new job. Not sure how you juggle going back to work with 3 very busy kids... and, oh yes, a DH too! Take care of yourself too.

Welcome to Heidi. How did the doc appt go yesterday? This time of new diagnosis can be overwhelming. Soon you will have a plan of attack and can maybe start to wrap your head around things. We will get you through it.

ESD's!!!! Aren't they just wonderful. I had a bad case of trigger finger along with extremely painful knee joints while I was on the generic Aromasin. Glad to report that all side effects have disappeared since going back to name brand Femara four months ago. Keeping my fingers crossed that things stay this way.

Hope that everyone is staying cool this weekend. The rain keeps missing us and we need it BAD! Tomorrow is our big parade and fireworks. Fortunately they shoot the fireworks off from a barge on the lake so inspite of the terribly dry conditions, they will go off as planned. My DH always drives the church float in the parade and I usually walk along with the group passing out candy. Due to the heat, I am not participating this year. But we can just walk a couple blocks down to the lake to watch fireworks with all the neighbors in the evening.

Kjiberty and Roula... Hoping for minimal SE's this weekend. I went thru chemo in the hot summer of 2010. Treatments on Tuesdays so I was always down for the count over the weekend. My favorite chemo food was watermelon. I recommend some icy cold watermelon this weekend for both of you.

Invisible.... I had the tight feeling too.... it took some time, but after a certain point I just got used to it.  I went into surgery thinking that I wasn't going to needs rads, but came out of surgery with a mixed set of recommendations, and I decided to go ahead and do rads.  That meant keeping the TEs in for a full year, actually it ended up thirteen months.  However, at a certain point I stopped noticing the tightness.  It was definitely a few months before I reached that point though....  at least three or four?    Much more comfortable once the exchange surgery was behind me.

Invisible - I have the same question.  My BMX was back in March.  Every fill made things tighter for about 2 days.  I am done with fills and I have to live with the pain/tightness until September when I get the exchange.  I am just not sure if this muscle pain will really get better after the exchange - they'll still be stretched??  I'm OK during the day, but laying down is tough. It is certainly better than it was the first few months and really is tolerable.

Lago - I have trigger finger.  I hear that you can get a cortisone shot and consider surgery if that does not work.  I have not tried as it sounds painful - I am hoping it will just go away.  I did read that they are not dangerous and treatment is really only necessary if it bothers you.

Invisible-I had BMX with immediate recon (direct to implants) 12/11 without a single problem.  I just realized this week that I no longer have any tingling, tightness or uncomfortableness.  Give it time and it will improve.  I'm not fooling you or myself-it's not like the originals, but of course they were silent killers...

Joan-Watermelon sounds so good, yum. Glad you aren't walking in the parade in this heat.

Lisa-congrats on the job, sounds like it will be nice to be with some familiar co-workers.

We're heading to the Gold Coast art fair (that's no longer in the Gold Coast), but we missed getting an early start.  Dinner at a Peruvian restaurant-really looking forward to trying that.

I had been looking for someplace to donate my barely used, expensive underwire bras ( I hate to even think of the $$$ sitting in that box).  I finally found a group that accepts them and distributes them to others who need them.  If you are interested pm me.

    Have a relaxing day, everyone.

Happy weekend, everyone! I'm trying to catch up, but can't! Welcome to all of you I don't quite know yet. Wonderful ladies here, with much support and friendship.

Lago, I got the joke, and also cracked up. Helps to already know your humor, and mine is similar. DH says injections first, and then surgery for trigger finger. But surgery too drastic if it's an se from a drug that you won't need forever. An unasked for opinion, but he and I are on different computers in the same room, so I asked him.

So happy for a little rain last night, but this heat is getting to me. Too much dragging hoses around to water new shrubs. They look great though, if I can keep them alive. My timing was pretty off for this whole planting thing.

Everyone take care to keep cool, and have some fun this weekend. Let's have ice cream! I always love an excuse for that. Seriously, maybe we should have a Maggianos lunch soon.

Wow was everyone at the Goldcoast fair. We got there around 12.  My husband bought me a ring from this husband and wife team that did really interesting things with natural stones, wood and recycled materials. Not sure we got through the entire show. It was hot. I still think the Old Town & Bucktown artfest have stronger artists.

OK everyone so remember when you "register" for the walk my finger is loaded. Don't piss me off in the morning.

Lago-Thanks, that's the place.  I was at the Gold Coast Art Fair too and boy it was HOT.  We did manage to buy a great print before we melted-we're running out of walls. Dare we go to the Bucktown artfest?  Heck, ya.

Well I hope you got a Geico Gecko fan. I have 1 from this year and 2 from last year. I may bring mine to the Bucktown. Last year wasn't too hot at Bucktown but the year before was hell-like. Best to go early. Later in the afternoon the city is just too hot. Asphalt heats up.

Good morning everyone.  I'm just feeling a little blue this weekend.

I had my BMX with immediate reconstruction 11 days ago.  I started to feel pretty good.  The pain is manageable, I even showered and started to feel normal again.  Then the pain killer SE kicked in, and I was so majorly constipated yesterday.  The BS prescribed Doc-Q-Lace but only 5 days worth.  I had it refilled but then all the pharmacies by my house were out of it.  I finally got it Friday night but it was too late.  I thought I was dying yesterday.  Today is a little better, so hopefully it's starting to kick in.

My final pathology comes in on Tuesday, so I am worried.  Also, some of my skin is raw so my PS is worried about necrosis.  I may need additional surgery.

Ugh, I think I should take my xanax now.

Hi Beata,  Sorry to hear about your struggles.  I hope you don't need more surgery.  I was on an antibiotic that counteracted the pain killer SE's for much of the time!  Good luck with the pathology.  I assume your Sentinel Nodes were clear, so hopefully everything will look good.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough, and more.
    It turns denial into acceptance,
chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast,
a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past,
    brings peace for today,
and creates a vision for tomorrow.

beata...easy to say but hard to do.  Do try not to worry about Tuesday.  You are in the middle of healing, and having bowel issues makes it hard to pull the more positive aspects to things up.  Once you start getting good results with your medications I think things will be better and your outlook will be better too.  Another cliche' but hang in there --- stay calm, breathe deep, and visualize the HEALTH you intend to have.

Still boiling here.....several more days of it too.  Family picnic for yesterday was cancelled and will take place at a cooler time when we can all enjoy being outside.  I hope we do cool off a bit as this so far has been quite incredible and it is hard on people who must work outside.

Hope you are all set to have a great Sunday. Smerf, Zap, Wendy13, Rita,JanClare,Laura GTO -- thinking about you and everyone else.

    Hugs, Jackie

beata I have had issues with the big C since I have IBS. Really had an issue with chemo. Never did the pain killers (yeah I know super woman Tongue out) but I do understand that they do that. I found taking nutra flora everyday as well as eating a yogurt and an acidophilus pill supliment keeps me regular. When Chemo really blocked me up I found Metamucil as directed on the package worked really well. It's a stool softener so it doesn't make you all gassy and bloated.

Milk of Magnesia also works if you don't have too much of an issue. That usually works for me but on chemo I needed the Metamucil. Just don't do both or you'll have the other issue.

Don't worry too much about the path. Usually nothing changes… in my case I ended up with better news. Tumor was a little smaller, only 75% of it was invasive and my nodes were clear eventhough they thought for sure I would have micromets. Also medical science isn't perfect. Your skin might have a complication but it will get better. It's just more of a time suck.  Keep us posted. Hope your news is better than expected!

Try to remember u still have some healing to go Oh Beata The first thing I see this morning is u'r having a bad week-end--I'm so sorry. Sometimes it's such a slow process with all different complications and to me that's an awful one, but they do have lots u can take and just going thru all u have can make u feel a sadness cuz u'r body is weak now and no matter how many operations u have had each one is an experience u want to forget and in time u do. But the body is a wondrous thing--every 24 hrs it heals more and more which always amazed me (for operations) LOL Well u have us and u know how much everyone knows so much here (not me)--I'm just a sideline. And I sure hope Tuesday goes well for u.

Beata-Glad your surgery is over and your on the road to recovery, but so sorry you are having complications.  I found a warm bath (just plain warm water just up to my navel) helped with the constipation and the pain from it. Hopefully the skin irritation is a short-term issue and it won't develop into anything more.

My BMX was almost 7 months ago and all the dears on this site told me time would heal and I would look back and be amazed at how far I'd come.  At the time I thought they were just nice sentiments, but I can tell you it's true. Take it one day at a time and before you know it-you'll be telling someone else your amazing story.

    Beata,

I'm praying for you. The pain meds were hard on me too.

The Dol-q-lace didn't work for me, but I halted the recommended dose of a Colon Cleanse we picked up months ago at the grocery store and it worked. My dr. Said whatever works and if you have ever done a colon cleanse, they work. But the bottle calls for 4 tablets, 4 times a day. I just took one tablet at three meals and it did the trick for me.

I also tried Milk of Magenesia and that worked another time for me.

Remember that all these ladies have so much wisdom and each day does get better.

Beata... Hate to repeat it, but, hang in there. Hope you get relief soon. I have been on pain killers for my darn back for several weeks now. I bought a big bottle of stool softener at Costco, thinking I'd never use it all, but alas, i think I just might. Well, it does work along with a couple cups of hot green tea. Try not to worry too much about your path report. At this point, it is what it is and worrying is not going to change that. "IL girls are tough" and you will be amazed at how tough you can be, especially with the help of these wonderful ladies on this board. ((((hugs to you)))

Hang in there Beata.  The waiting is the worst, I hated waiting for the path report.   Jackie has put a great quote on here more than once, and I posted in on my wall....  Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it just saps today of its strength.  I love that quote, and it has helped me to read and re-read that one more times than you can imagine.

I had the necrotic skin after my BMX.... had to have a second surgery.  It is NOTHING like the BMX, I was in and out in two hours, they did the debridement under local, and I went home a took a nap and it was no big deal.  Hopefully you won't have to even have that procedure, and things will heal up, but know that if they don't the debridement surgery is nothing much to deal with.

Hope you are feeling better and stronger every day!

LisaMomOfFour, Thank you so much for your response on the necroctic surgery.  After my BMX, I woke up in a panic attack because I felt like I couldn't breathe.  I didn't realize that was normal due to the implants.  I also came out of anasthesia just sweating.  I really wasn't looking forward to these post recovery effects again.  So thanks fot telling me the debridement surgery isn't as much an ordeal.

I'm usually really a strong person.  BC is making a mockery of me :)
