Forgot to say Kristen and camillegal...........it is that great sense of humor that can keep us up so often.  I love the martini laugh......I think it would have been a Margarita for me.  Hey, laughter is a healing thing....along with lots of hugs.  I recommend both very highly.

    Hugs, Jackie

Wow - too much to catch up on.

Hugs to Heidi.  Prayers for Roula and BJ's parents.  Joan - you are amazing!

I have to have a uterine  ultrasound and biopsy due to excessive bleeding from the the tamox next Wednesday.  I really can't take the bleeding so hopefully eveything is fine and they will give me some alternatives.

    Have a wonderful week everyone.

Good morning ladies - long time no post. I have been spending my days at LGH. My dad has been moved out of the MICU and onto the stroke floor. What a year this has been!

On a "lighter note", I have my 5tx of TCH this Thursday - I hope it goes smoothly as I cannot take much more emotionally or physically. When this is all done I will need a nice long vacation!

Joan I don't know what super foods you eat but I want the recipe!

Camillegal You now have me inspired. Next time I'm in the hospital I'm writing in sushi, Carson's ribs or hot & sour soup from Sun Wah. The worst food I've ever not eaten was the food at Rush.

    orlandpark1965 you hangin' OK?

I am also enjoying the humor on the thread!  Humor helps heal!

Hugs to all of you.  Enjoy your Monday!

Ohhhhhhhh!  I just visited BFF Wendy McCammon (aka Wednyty) on Facebook and saw pictures of the the benefit.  Wendyty looks beautiful and her eyes have retained their lovely luster through all those meds.  Here eyes were and remain amazing (even now behind glasses).  And I bet they are still accepting checks from us ladies who could not attend due to distance. Check it out.

zap, I am so happy that  you put the link in here.  I am not at all good on my Facebook ( barely ever go to it ) and I had not seen these pictures until now.  You are so right.....the light of a beautiful Spirit and loving soul shines so brightly through Wendy's eyes.  I am crying and yet ( you'll identify with this ) there is a part of me, a small one that is not sad.  Thanks so much for sharing this.

    Hugs, Jackie

    Hi There Ladies,

I don't post often, but I have a concern and am looking for some guidance. I had a right breast lumpectomy (12/2/11) and 0 node involvement. Did 8 dense dose chemo and 6 weeks of Rads which I just finished end of May. I am experiencing some intense pain in a rib that is a couple of inches below the node incision. If I sleep on it it is too much to bear and forget touching it. I just saw my surgeon for a follow up to having my port out 3 weeks ago. He checked it out and he wants me to have a chest xray done. I am going tomorrow morning at 7:30am. He also advised me to call my chemo doc and advise him of the issue in case he wants to do any tests. Has anyone else gone through something similar? I am a little beside myself here. Thank you in advance.

Wishn4one it could be a broken rib due to radiation. Sometimes radiation weakens the bones. You definitely should let your MO and RO know about this. Hope it's something "minor" like a broken rib… you know something that can heal.

    Keep us posted.

Hi ladies....checking in from Mi higan as I am there visiting my family right now.

Camillegal...LOL at your Monopoly reference. You deserve more than $200 in my book! As far as funny BC comments..we were at a wave pool today and my brother in law offered me a flitation device and I responded with "no thanks I already have two". He was not sure how to respond...laugh or not. I guess at some point you just have to find a few moments of humor to stay sane after dealing with the BC stuff.

Hawk - hope you ar ok

    Joan I am.praying for a speedy recovery.

Anyone up for a half marathon in September? Just checking.....tjinking of doing my first one. It would be more fun with someone else.

I want to.go back and.respond to more posts but I am checking in from.my phone. I don't want to leave anyone out. For those still in treatment.....saying prayers for few side effects. For thise recovering from surgery gentle hugs and lots of prayers too. You can do this!!

I am hoping we can plan another get together soon....this time we need margaritas!

wishn4one, lago has one idea, and another could be osteoporosis, which can also cause a rib fx. Get the x-ray, and have a copy of the report sent to your MO. I would definitely give him a call and advise him of the issue. The MO usually gives the orders for any further testing to be done, and can advise RO if need be. Sorry you're in so much pain, and hope you get the answer soon.

Wow, you girls are really chatty, and it's almost hopeless for me to try to keep up! I haven't checked in lately due to just life happening. Decided to wash walls since it's too hot to be outside. Looks good, and I'm glad it's done. Still have to water that darn new landscaping every day. Wish I had known it would be such a furnace out there this year. I wouldn't have done it yet.

Joan, thinking of you, and so happy your surgery went well.

    Hugs to Heidi.

Roula, so glad your dad has moved out of ICU. That's progress in the right direction! I used to work in the ICU, and it was always a celebration to get out of there.

hawk, hoping for answers for you. Had that bleeding too, and it was way more than inconvenient!

mdg, yes, margaritas! Lets have a get together lunch soon. I miss everyone.

    More catching up later.

    Dear wishnforone:

I had (still do sometimes) pain (not as intense as what you describe but alarming) on my rib under my surgery. If I twist oddly, it is quite intense but then I stretch it out.  Kater talked about this too.

Mine  was diagnosed as what this person from another thread describes below.  She helped me when I had this condition.  It was caused by the radiation.  It is good you are checking it out.  I know I was relieved to find out that it wasn't more of the bad stuff.  A broken rib is plausible too.  Now I hear that is very painful, but as Lago says, can be fixed.  I wish you well.

"It is a very common side effect of rads to have bad inflammation in the chest area.  It can also radiate to the axilla and even to the back area.  It is a condition called costochronditis (sp?).  I am 4 years out from rads and I still have it.  For me, stress and cold weather makes it much worse."

Adey....Peoria is just a short drive for me.  I'll gladly meet you for lunch any time you're in the area.  Bradley is a very good and prestigious university.  :-)

Camilegal...It sounds like they are really giving you the executive treatment at CDH.  That's a much classier place than any of the hospitals we have around here!

wishn4one -Unfortunately rads can cause rib and tissue damage and even breakage for years.  I've done a lot of research on this lately because of recent pain in mine.  You should follow up with an x-ray if you have a lot of pain, especially pain that doesn't go away.  And definitely do it to give you peace of mind.

My NP wanted me to get an x-ray, but I'm pretty sure it's just soft tissue, not bone.  Not expecting it to go away for a long time, but will get an x-ray if it gets worse. Mine is somewhat like Zap's, intense pain under my breast when stretching for something. Would probably go to my RO, not MO or BS, for the check up.  My RO is pretty territorial.

Rib fractures don't always show up in x-rays, but are treated as such anyway.  Mostly you take otc meds (or stronger), apply ice and wait for them to heal.  Sometimes surgery is needed if the ribs don't heal.  Hope you don't have a break.

    Dear wishn4one,

Zap is right about the pains you can have from rads. I too have a sharp pain on the side just where the underwire is in my bra. If someone hugs me  i try to turn a little so they don't touch that area. My MO said it's probably forever when i asked how long it would last. I'm so used to it after 6 years, that i don't pay attention to it anymore. I don't think it is as bad as what you describe, though. A broken rib is very painful, even a bruised rib is tough, so I am glad you are getting it checked out. As you can see, we all have lots of ideas, but mainly we are thinking of you, and hoping you feel better real soon.

Camillegal, I'm taking this up with my hospital! I want to order food too! Would like to see that kitchen...everyone needs to be spoiled in the hospital.

The 'zapping' is the nerves growing back. They take a LONG time, years, to grow all the way back. Intense pain is something else, I think, maybe the bruised or broken rib as smerf suggests.

Oh wishin4 one---good u'r calling u'r Dr and getting this all checked out--but i do know I feel sharp pains sometimes (not like u) right where the rads were and I hear myself say OUCH and I'm just sitting and if I'm somewhere people look at me--so I'm getting used to it---but it's not constant so have piece of mind and glad u'r getting the x-ray.

I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.

Yay C-Squared......freedom at last.  We do have some "strange" things to celebrate in this club.  Glad to hear as though I didn't have any  ( only had lumpectomy ) most everyone who did grew quite impatient to have them gone.  Onward to the next victory.......

Back into triple digits here with only one small rain last week.  Hoping for more by Thursday......in fact, hope it is a good soak.  I'm getting so weary of this weather and it is muggy on top of it. I hope it is a pattern ( hopefully  will end soon ) that has to wear itself out and we will go back to something more normal.

Adey.....you will have fun with Rita so don't pass up that opportunity if you can help it.

Smerf --- hope you can keep up coming a bit more now.  It is hard to do anything outside.  I'll be back to filling up the wading pools every day for the outdoor dogs and I just ( very un-lady-like ) sweat like a pig outside as it is at least a good half hour chore.

I'll be thinking of all of you and hoping you have a good day.  Tues. are great.....just because we got Monday out of the way.

    Happy hugs,

    Jackie

Hey ladies!  Just checking in real quick, will post more later this week.

Thanks for the hugs and prayers, surgery went very well and my lymph nodes are clean!  My DH and sisters all exited the waiting room alive and united in overprotecting me.  Sigh....

Joan - I brought the dammit doll with me and she made quite an impression!  Despite the damage she has already sustained...
