how about drinking?

Cami, falling asleep while cuddling with a grand child is a great reason not to come to the lounge, I'm actually jealous! My computer is fine, although I did find some malware on mine. But it was from all of the Java updates I was doing. Those updates all infected me, gheesh! But the big problem was someone hacked into our website, not our computers. We are good to go now, we got it fixed, took us 2 days.
LOL, I hope whomever you took to bed wif you Kathy, kept you safe!
Ha ha, that poor farmer!!!!
Julie, welcome back to the world of DRINKING....I'll drink to that!
DorK, your poor mom. I hope she is doing better today, or maybe better yet, sees a doctor. Unless you think all of that was just from nerves. I just feel so bad for her. I did not know she was in a wheel chair either.
DOTD - You Only Live Once
Ingredients:
5 oz. Dooley's Toffee Liqueur
3 oz. Malibu Rum
3 oz. Vodka
1/2 pint(s) LemonadeSue, not sure if you have the Toffee Liqueur, maybe you could replace with a coffee one? How is that wall of ribbons doing?

Awe Dotty I feel so bad for your mom. Here's going she settles quickly a is feeling better soon. Same with your dad. Enjoy spending time with them tomorrow.
Lori thank goodness you've gotten rid of that malware! It really annoys me when I here that some little turd has got nothing better to do than make up all that sh-t!
Bernie still laughing over that poor farmer.......lol.....love your jokes. Keep em coming !
Camy just loved falling asleep with my grands and would love to be able to do it now but I think the law just might frown on it as they are 17,16, 15 and 14.........that's years not months! Never mind I stil get a hug from all of them........lol
Hi to everyone else and welcome to any new gals.0 -
Wow Dork u'r poor Mom, I bet it was to much for her--she's not used to all that traveling and movimg about. Whenever u relocate an alzteimer patient they confusion onky deepens. Now for u'r Dad does he know yet he's staying. U'd think he would want to for all the help he can have. Cuz once u et them settled u can call organizations or the county for someone to come in and help. My mom was fine mentally, but physicall not at all, but she had someone come in and ive u a bath--she didn;t want any of us to and then they had someone come in and do their toenails--they had a lot of helps in thins that they preferred we didnt do. So it was there decision, but it helped us alot. So maybe u can look into all of these thins.
This is ruff on all the family--My dad used to say 2 people can take care of 12 kids, but 12 kids can't take care of 2 people. Well it translate a little differnt he said it in Italian of course. And in a lot of ways it's true--not tat we don't want to it's just different tratin our parnts with authority. My prayers are with u cuz I know how dificult it is.
And Goldie I'm glad u got it all straihtened out and don't say u don't know computers that well u are a marvel.
I'm feeling better today--I had some heart palpattions yesterday on and off--it kinda scared me-it made me feel different. so I was more quiet. but today it's fine. Maybe I'm in love---with Hard Mike--it could happen ya know. LOL

Mese funcused....mese thot dat "Katie-Kat" was Cami's cat....But now ebbery1 says she is cuddling wid her grandchild???? Ohhhhhh.....set us straight, or at least on de straight and narrow....or on sumtin straight (wink, wink)....
Dotty, Oh shoot, your poor mom. What a miserable trip. And I know soooo well how hard it is to find a new dr. Still haven't gotten my parents in to a regular dr yet...my mom finally sees one on Monday, but took over a month to get her records transferred, so need to start working on my dad's as he has high b/p lately. IF you can't get your mom in to see a dr, maybe at least a clinic or the Er if she doesn't get regular soon. Poor dear. Such stress for her, I hope she will settle in and start feeling better, and then get to enjoy being with her family again. And YOU, please keep watching your b/p too!!! So much stress.
Funny, Bernie!! Did not see that one "coming".....oops devil made me say that.
Oh Cami, watch those palpitations! My DH gets that often, but its not good for your heart to be doing that. Breathe....slowly...in and out...repeat.....(now don't get your minds in de gutter anyone...that is BREATHING IN AND OUT....nuttin else...silly girlz!).
HAPPY FRIED DEY girlz! Off to my parents in a few min to connect his new printer....and see how he is doing. I think he is still in a lot of pain. What I read didn't say it is contagious, except to someone who has not had chicken pox. BUT with what you said earlier (Juliet?), I will be careful. Thanks for all the prayers for him, and helpful advice!!
Love you Girlz,
Kath

Kathy I cuddle with both---I'm a real cuddler, but my Katie-Kat used to love to lay across my breasts nice and pilowy for her, now she has a harder rime on where she lays and circles and circles until she finds a spot LOL It's all concave she doesn't like it as well. Oh and my grandson say I'm not as cushony--geeze thse rhins were more important to others rhan me.
Thanks about the palpatations, I'll be seeing the card. soon so I'm trying to just them them worry about it --and it may be nothing.

Don't forget if any of you need a haircut/hairstyle this month...JCP salons are doing it FREE for bc survivors. I am having mine done today...needed it anyway, so might as well try them out. I told them I was spreading the word about it, and they wanted everyone to know about it.0

Good morning, Loungettes! How is everyone this ayem?
Jusdt out of curiosity I looked up the shingles virus info. Merk makes Zostavax. This is a live virus that has been weakened. Anyone receiving this vaccine should avoid contact with anyone who is immune compromised (people on chemo, who have had a transplant) and people not immune to chickenpox for 14 to 21, especially pregnant women not immune to chickenpox, days after getting the vaccination. Zostivax and the pneumonia vaccine should be given 4 weeks apart. Neomycin is used to weaken the virus, so people allergic to neomycin cannot get it. It is not known if the protection lasts more than 4 years. It is not known if individuals should be revaccinated after 4 years. Zostavax has not been evaluated for the potential to cause cancer. Zostavax efficacy (the rate of protection) is based on measuring the increase in antibodies after vaccination. It is not known what antibody level is protective. For people ages 60-69 the vaccine increases the antibody level in 64% of recipients, for people 70 to 79 antibody levels increase in 41% of recipients, for people 80 and older 18% have an increase in antibody levels. In people who get shingles after vaccination 40% do not get the after shingles pain syndrome. There is a slightly higher risk of getting congestive heart failure after getting the Zostavax vaccine than for people who do not get the vaccine.
OK, back again. Good evening Loungettes!CynCyn--people get vaccinated because they don't know the details, they just know what the TV tells them. Most docs don't know any more than that, either. Vaccinations are a huge money maker, especially the flu vaccine. That one doesn't even have the actual strain circulating 2/3 of the time!

Wahine--what is it about not being able to eat that makes one wake up so much earlier than usual? Most annoying!

Goldie--I once put flourescent green and pink decorator tape on my suitcase to make it easier to spot in the airport. It actually looked pretty neat!

Welcome, Emailiana! What's your favorite drink?
BBBBernie--LOL!!!
Now to find some dindin for me and the doggy!

Top 'O The Evenin' to ya, NM! Thanks for all the shingles vacc info! I usually try to get the flu vaccine ea yr, but it sounds like maybe thats not so good to do? If it doesn't have the current strain in it, doesn't it still help to protect you somewhat? Need your answer, cuz I was going to maybe get it next wk! We travel so much, so I try to be as safe as possible, because of exposure to so many people, in confined places. Nice to see ya tanight! Hope you found some people food and some doggy food!!!!
Well, the JCP gal cut my hair for 1 hr 45 min! LOL. I told her I like it "messy", which she interpreted as "shaggy", so I think she cut each strand individually! LOL...my usual gal takes about 10 min! Had brought DH since I thought it would jest be a few min then we cud do sometin...but even got there early, so DH sat in the car for TWO HOURS!!! To make it up to him, I let him take me out to dinner! Verdict is not out yet on it...will see if I like it once I mess with it. Anyway, free is good....she said the wash, cut, and style costs about $32-34. So I hope some of you can take advantage of it too!
Oh Sue, I wish you had seen the entire movie! I actually started it in the middle, but want to see it all, so hoping it comes back on. I feel like getting dwunk, anyone wanna join me?
Hugssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!

OMG - WaWa - I saw da start and den fell asleep and now (I hate my brain) I remember waking up to see bout da last 20 mins. What made me realize it was I was trying to go to TCM and see when it might air again and I saw Ray Milland. Well that's when it hit me. But I don't understand who that lady was that sent her off to the house alone that night. So...will continue to search and try to find another air date. Ya kno...I tink u'd look real real good wif a few layers...is dat what u got? I won't go...cuz mese hairs still too short to cut but I think a great thing what they are doing. OOOHHH...but I can git a widdle teeny tiny pig tail....LOL!!
NM - thanks for the info on the shingles. Remember me saying, when I came back from OR in July, that my nurse SIL told me to GET the shingles vaccine cuz of my BC? Still haven't gotten it and still wonder why I shud (not yet 60) but keep forgetting to talk to onco about it. This time last year, I did ask my onco bout flu shot. She told me to get it. I normally don't get them, but thot with the chemo during the summer n my low immune, mayb good to ward off prev years viruses. Anyway...I got it and was fine. Still wonder bout pneumonia and shingles vac....since mese so scatter brained...I jes grabbed my phone and added it to my appt date...dat way I'll not forget to ask her. You da Best!!!
O Tay Den goils.....we had lots of rain and thunder n lightning...sooo cool all day. I walked, I garage saled, I made salsa, I cleaned bathrooms, vacuumed, made stroganof (cant spell it but I can make it...LOL), I brushed out da furbabies....Oh...n dwank....ahhhh...it's been a goot day!
Hope eberone has a gr8 relaxing weekend....Lubs lubs lubs lubs lubs lubslubslubslubslubs....ya'll...MUAH!

You ladies just cwack me up. But i have so much to tell u, gotta do it da old way.
So here'the scoop. . You know I've been doing the dating thing. Met a nice fellow last night - think he liked me moe than i liked him so ok.
Today was to have met "D" who I'd met before. He goes to Alaska every summer to drive a a tourbus so he had just called me to say he was back. We arranged to meet. Later that day i called him to say i was'nt feeling very good and let's reschedule and he said, I'm not feeling too great either. . .chest pain
and sweatingso I told him to to ER right way. I think he would've blown it off
comletely had I not gone nuts. Called his phone later and his sister said he's undergoing a heart cathaterization. Holy Moly - seems to be a sign of our age :(70 -

Well, no JCP here for me to go to, but just got my hair done while I was in MI. Kathy, how did yours turn out?
Cyn, enjoy your weekend! HA, like you have to be told to do that. I just know you are having the time of your life and lots of Boom Chicky!!!
Adey, wow 11 and you saw the Exorcist? I don't remember how old I was, but I don't think I was that young. How old are you?
Well shoot Sue, same drink for 4 days? Darn her anyways. Tell her we will get Tanya's Loiubille Slugger out and send Dork's peeps after her. New drinks could generate new sales. J/K on the co-worker of course, just so essited to have your bar doing this. And you can let Goodie know how super proud we are of her and give her many many thanks. Gib her a hug too,k?
NM, thanks for the vaccine info. As for me, I have never gotten any, other than the ones you get as a baby, and then while working with the kids I got the hepatitis ones.
Kathy, you raise a good point for yourself and all the traveling fo sho. Wow, that was a long time for a cut. I do hope you like it.
Funny you mention the pig tail Sue, that was one of the big things I was waiting for, when my hair was growing back. That and "bed head".
Lynda, sorry to hear about your friend, but glad you convinced him to go to ER. No telling what might have happened had he not. Sending prayers your way, may he have a speedy recovery.
Think I need to go jump in a pile of leaves!!!!!!
But have to have a DOTD first. My brain isn't coming up with anything, so I found
BRAIN DAMAGE!
1 1/2 oz. Bacardi 151 Proof Rum
1 1/2 oz. Amaretto
1 tsp. Irish CreamInstructions
Pour Irish Cream into middle of the rum and Amaretto in a highball glass

Another version:
In a chilled branded shooter glass, pour some Peach Schnapps three quarters to the top. Next slowly float some Baileys onto the surface, and pour a couple of drops of grenadine down the middle, so it drags some of the Baileys as it sinks down.
Sue, if you can use this one, maybe we can call it CHEMO BRAIN instead???

Mornin' Ladiez!
Raku, Wow...close call...verry glad you advised him to go to ER stat! Hope he does well; stents can cause probs too. Hoping he really takes care of himself when he gets home. YEAH, unfortunately a "sign of our age"...BUT on the other hand, you could go "cougar" and date guys like the one Julie posted right below your post! VaVaVoomm......Brown Chicken Brown Cow (as Alli would say!).
Good dwink choice, Lori! I can't claim chemo brain but can sure claim "Senior Moments" and pretty soon it won't just be "moments"....lol. Not sure about the hair cut, but jest got up, so still having Bed Head. Her mgr commented from across the room that it was a cute cut and she also liked the color. Funny....even the hair sylist liked the color and thought for sure I would have had some natural red in my hair.....nope....dis gal had brown/white hair....was blonde till I was about 5.
You sure were bizzy yest, Sue! All I've been doing is trying to go thru chit and organize...mese tinks mese papers jest habs babies ebbery nite....dey sure seem to multiply like wabbits. THot puters were supposed to make us go "paperless" but mese pwints out soo much stuff dat mese habs more papers den ebber!!! I go thru reams like nothing, plus tons of ink. Aaaarrrgghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......mese iz hopeless!!! SO glad your bar is doing so well with all the ribbons, and the dwinks!! I originally was going to get more ribbons, when I first asked you how much they were going for, but when you said people were paying more, dats when I ended up jest gettin two, so I could pay more for dem. I should have stuck wid my original plan and gotten more!!! BUT mese tinks a widdle birdie said someone IS getting more ribbons from ya.....yippeeeee......dats sooooo awesome, and mese knows dat goil is berry, berry generous, foah shuah!!!!
HOpe you all have a great Sat-TURD-dey (oops now I keep picturing dat big pile a turd Lori posted once...LOL)!!!
Lubs and Hubs (hugs)!!!!!

Good morning, Loungettes! Lovely sunny, brisk 34 degree morning here. Already got laundry in the machine and me dressed, gonna get stuff done today!

Wahine--The OFFICIAL (as in from the FDA & CDC) is that (1) you cannot get the flu from the flu vaccine. (2) even if the strain circulating isn't the same the vaccine gives some protection. (3) a flu shot is needed every year because the strain changes every year and having one strain does not protect against another strain. (4) if everyone got the flu shot as recommended the death rate from flu or flu-related illnesses will drop dramatically. This info is from the prescribing information for Afluria:
"Because clinical trials are conducted under widely varying conditions, the adverse reaction rates observed in the clinical trials of a vaccine cannot be directly compared to rates in the clinical trials of another vaccine, and may not reflect rates observed in clinical practice"
"8. USE IN SPECIFIC POPULATIONS
8.1 Pregnancy
Pregnancy Category B.
Reproduction studies have been performed in female rabbits at a dose approximately 15 times the human dose (on a mg/kg basis) and have revealed no evidence of impaired fertility or harm to the fetus due to AGRIFLU. There are, however, no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Because animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human response, AGRIFLU should be given to a pregnant woman only if clearly needed.""8.4 Pediatric Use
Safety and effectiveness in the pediatric population have not been established."
I can't find the info on what strains are in this year's vaccine. The CDC does not track geriatric deaths from flu of flu-like illness, they only track for children so how well the vaccine helps can't be measured. The overall death rate for geriatric patients has not decreased over the years despite increasing rates of flu vaccination, so I don't think it's having much impact.
Mema--one tip--ask for the package insert that comes with the vaccine. It should be in very small print and be labeled "Complete Prescribing Information." Take it home and read through it (you'll need a magnifying glass) before making up your mind. Skip the "Highlights" section. You will find that the very people who are being pushed to get the vaccine (like pregnant women, babies and children) shouldn't unless there is a huge risk. The pneumonia vaccine protects against ONE strain of pnumonia that is very hard on the elderly, that one I may take when I get old enough, depending on what else is in it.

Rakulynda--YIKES! Thanks to you "D" lives to see another Alaskan summer! Good work!
Juliet--oh, yum!
Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD is the Pink Yum
1/2 oz Coconut Rum
1 1/2 oz White Rum
1/4 oz Lime Juice
1 oz Peach Juice
1 oz Mango Juice
1/2 oz GrenadineDirections
Shake and strain into a double-cocktail glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a slice of lime, and serve.0 -
Good Morning NM! Thanks for all the vaccine info...I prolly will get the flu vacc....DH always gets it and keeps pushin me till I do, too. OOPS, now that parents are here, I need to remind them to get it too. Keep forgettin all dat stuff!!! DH found a dermatologist right down the street as he was worried about some skin cancers....so they fit him in yest....now I think I'll try to get my dad in to see him, and have him make sure the shingles regimen the clinic doc has him on is the right tx for him, plus he has had a lot of skin cancers cut out, so won't hurt to have him rechecked on that too. FUNNY...but I feel SO happy when we find a new good dr that I can take them too, as its so hard to find good ones that are taking new pts!!! THe things we used to take for granted.... Oh BTW, thanks for anudderr DOTD....sounds good too!!! We should have the Tenders fix both DOTD's up, and line dem on de bar. Then the Wenches can make some ono pupus to go with them.
Dwink Up!!!!!

NOW the effects are sooooo realistic!!! I still love em, but DH doesn't so I have to watch them alone....THEN try to put on something funny or cheerful before going to bed!!! LOL.
