We've seen a number of news reports about electric line crews that are being turned away in the state of New Jersey, on the grounds that the crews are non-union.

Rest assured, our Alabama Power crews have not been turned away from anywhere. Our employees are proudly representing us in several states that have been affected, and have received a warm reception everywhere they've been.

NJ ♥ (fart) Bama and BAMA fart (♥) NJ. yippee, lets dwink. i partaying all nights. well not really, mese eyebaalls need to studie mese eyes lids. Mese jest wrapped up emoshunally ober dis chit chitty chit, not to be conrfused with bom chickey brown cow. I go now, dis time for real.

I know everyone is sleeping (we almost everyone, Onited Kingdom hahahahaha) is probably up and downunder. I just pulled myself up off rhw floor, a lot of guys here I tired them all out--u said they were up for grabs--so I grabbed--whoa--tired. they are not me.-

Dork ok I'm glad it's not awful pain and u'r memories are so wonderful and that was a beach that u went too? Oh that's so crumby, Oh it's so sad what all of them are going thru I would be hystericl I pray for them; When we had that tornado in the summer and huge trees were icked up out of the ground and tossed like paper I was mystified, I never saw a tornado in my life and I couldn't believe itand of course noelctric, water and no air cond. we had to travel about 10 miles to stay in amotel for 5 days and to me that was a nightmare--I csn't even imagine what those people are going thru.OMG so vicous.

And politics are just like that so Obama had to get back to Vegas to politic. So he leaves after one day for that whole area. I' sorry but he was needed for support for those people. I thought I read somewhere those sates might not be voting Tuesday because of their circumstance--I'm probably wrong. But I hate Election days when I worked for the state we "had to" be at train sttions at 6 am--before work and hand out the pamphlets  and make phone calls in the evening at some office.for someone u weren't even voting for. hahahaMy girlfriend and I lived a bloc from each other so we'd always go together and one time when we were doing phone call we were asked to leave. cuz there were 2 chairs next to each other so we sat ot our lists and started callin, she was half deaf wearing no earing aid and I of course could hear here and I know the people weren't asking the questions that she was answering I was laughin so hard, I had to hang up on phone calls and she did too we just couldn't stop laughing and of course we were both peeing in our pants and making so much noise  we were told we were causing to much commotion--so my memories of election was funny but miserable--And she still makes me laugh all the time.--Oh and we'd laugh like that at work too.. Since I was a boss I couldn't ask myself to leave soooooo. Everyone pretty much did what they wanted. Oh now I'm getting into memories. I tried to go back to sleep but bathroom time has interrupted me again and of course I didn't make it there x. Oh Thank God for Depends hhaha--the kids went out tonight and sleep over cuz they are drinking and not driving. So I had 2 chn fingers, I know etter when this is going on, but no they looked good I ordered a beef Sandwich but couldn't eat that so that was enough for me.

I fell asleep about midnight and woke up like 2 hrs. ago, I don't like to take any meds when I' taking care of Joey and I forgot to tell them to pick up my meds on the way home so I have to remember to tell rhem wen they call to tell us they're on the way home.

OHHH I jabbering to the air again, it's all right I don't mind I'm glad u all can sleep and if u'r far far away u have work to do. LOL So I'll TTYL or sooner love u guys

Hey Cyn--Dork knows lots sout u---I didn't know u worked from home--wow thst's really harder to do than most people think IMO I know if I worked from home I'd get distracted by TV or comp. but it's good u don't have to get dressed if u don't feel like it. My oldest dgtr works at home only when she takes a day off and not wsnt to use up a sick day, then she's pretty much at the comouter so she's usually really sick cuz she can't go anywhere he keeps her busy. She's worked for the same man for 12 yrs or so and she got lucky. When he left thw law firm that he worked for to go to a new one and is now a partner, he asked that he bring his assistant they said fine so she left with him and she's still Downtown Chicago but she loves the train for relaxing on the way home. So I'm glad she loves her job and her boss otherwise she'd be so so so misersble and she's the type that everyone has to totally share in her misery. Seriously she can be a bitch.and she knows it.

Sorry I always get off subject lately-my mind os flighty--Oh and I laughed too when u said u can talk about the same thing over again. OMG that's so true. It's sad but true. hahaha

BTW are u working temp. for now and then go back to an office or have u always done this? U'r one smart woman, that's for sure.

    Well I'll be baaaack

Good morning, Loungettes!  Had a lovely sleep in this morning.  Been tired and cranky all week, not sure why. Hoping that's over with now.  Oh, and I found out the training next week is NOT in Boston, it's online.  Much, much, better. So far I know it's on Tuesday and Wednesday, but not what time.  The notice was sent as an attachment to an e-mail, but I'm not allowed to have Word on my work lap top so I can't open it.  Sigh.  Very annoying.

CynCyn--having had truncal lymphedema, I definitely do NOT want LE in my arm.  Ever. So I get very, very snarky about having anything done with that arm.  Although I have seen some research that shows that having an IV started in the at risk arm doesn't increase the rate of development of LE in the 3 to 6 months after. Of course, we all know that LE can show up YEARS later. . .

Cammy-turns out I made an assumption which had the usual, predictable effect.  Gave some of the folks a work a good giggle, though!  I'm so sorry you have LE.  At least I could have the offending breast removed and solve my issue with it, can't really do that to an arm.  The beast sucks.  Out loud.

CynCyn--when I do go to Boston the company pays the hotel room and I get mileage and reimbursement for meals and tolls.  I'm on salary so I get my daily pay no matter where I am or what I'm doing.

DorKable--seems the problem was with my making an a$$ by assuming. . . Not with the company!

ORLA--so sorry about your Aunt's home.  That is so sad, and so upsetting.  Praying for her.

Juliet--Hooray for getting in early!  And I can't wait to see pics of Stella with a dalek, bet Stella wins that one!

Wahine--Not working and not employed are 2 different things, at least to my mind!  Everyone works at something, the only difference is  who pays!

ORLA--early warning signs of developing LE include the arm feeling heavy or bruised, and not being able to move through the full range of motion.  PLEASE, get to a LE therapist ASAP.  LE cannot be reversed, but it can be held at the point where treatment starts.  Get treatment started NOW.  Don't give the process any more time.  Stop it NOW.

    WOW, great shooting star pic!

DorKable--the damage from Sandy is terrible.  I am so blessed to have had nothing but a bit of annoyance.  The Red Cross has 2 trucks with supplies and a few volunteers leaving Maine for NJ today, I'll send a donation to them.  But I'll pass on watching the show, I can't deal with a big emotional thing right now.  I'm feeling a bit fragile for some reason, so I need to find something fun and renewing to do this weekend.

Red Cross Pine Tree Chapter Sends Locals to Aid Hurricane Sandy Victims

by Morgan Small - November 2nd 2012 09:33pm - Read more Local News

Mairead Stein and Judy Mathieu have been called upon by the National Red Cross to help in New York through Maine's Pine Tree Chapter. Mathieu's husband, Joe, is waiting eagerly on stand-by to be deployed.

All three have helped aid disaster victims before.

"I got involved with the Red Cross after Katrina. I was first deployed to Rita," said Mathieu.

Even with prior experience, they still don't know what to expect.

"It's a little scary because you never know what you're getting into, but I'm really excited about going," said Mathieu.

One thing that's certain, they'll be put to good use when they get there.

"I'm a nurse, but I'm also a mental health professional, so I'll be working with disaster mental health and potentially health services," said Mathieu.

Disaster Response Manager, Danielle Hardre, says emotional services are an important part of recovery.

"I think the Red Cross is unique among their response agencies in that it puts high significance on mental health professionals being integrated into the recovery process," said Hardre.

Helping fellow Americans during this critical time is one of the main reasons these three are proud to be involved.

"I like the camaraderie of it, that everybody together, doing anything and everything that they can to help these people," said Stein.

Four more volunteers are being deployed Saturday in two of Maine's emergency response vehicles.

For more information on Hurricane Sandy efforts, log on to maineredcross.org.

Cammy--no apologies for complaining, we're all entitled to some complaining.  I know that there is always someone worse off, but that person isn't you or me.  We're all entitled to whine a little!

BBBBernie--I remember doing the massage stuff every night before bed to try to keep my boob from getting 3 times it's normal size.  I was so glad to get rid of that miserable, rotting lump of flesh!

Infection can trigger lymphedema.  And infection is a major complication of LE.  The fluid that builds up is full of protein and stuff that bacteria like.  Antibiotics have a hard time getting to lymphatic fluid to treat infections, which makes the lymphedema get worse.  It's a horrible cycle of misery.  Any sign of infection in an arm at risk for LE MUST be treated ASAP, preferably within 24 hours of the onset of symptoms.  That's why it's so important to get into care with someone who understands LE--and that is usually NOT a PS or doctor, but a LE therapy specialist.

Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD is the Cranky Pants

    3 oz champagne

    1 1/2 oz gin

    1/2 oz orange curacao

    1/2 oz strawberry liqueur

    1 oz orange juice

Shake and strain into a wine goblet 3/4 filled with broken ice.  Add Champagne, garnish with a sprig of mint.

Oh that is really bad, mine isn't that bad my rad Dr. saw it and I was treated right away for a while now I just do the simple excercises for it??? And why did u apologize to me about whining NM I'm the bigest whiner on here. LOL I try to control it, yea right.

So u volunteer with Red Cross---wonderful and that horrific storm is just that...All those people but people really help people when it's needed.m but as we said we're seeing weather like never before and no one knows exactly what to do first but I think they really do a great job.

Great advice to OLara, NM about seeing an LE specialist ASAP! That pic....ouch....strange that the LE arm is the opposite side from the mastectomy.I wish they could do more for that. Guess not many men get LE....or there might be a cure by now.

Oh Dork, just saw an article here, to update....

UPDATE - A press release from Decatur (AL) Utilities issued Friday afternoon said that a six-person crew was sent to Seaside Heights, NJ to assist with power restoration.

Communication was hampered by poor cell phone service.

When the crew arrived in the staging area in Virginia, crew were held in place "pending clarification of documents received by IBEW [International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers] that implied a requirement of our employees to agree to union affiliation while working in the New York and New Jersey areas."

"It was and remains our understanding that agreeing to those requirements was a condition of being allowed to work in those areas."

The release continues to explain that as the crew waited for clarification, the Seaside Heights, NJ area had received assistance from other sources.

"To be clear, at no time were our crews "turned away" from the utility in Seaside Heights" the release explained.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NEW JERSEY (NBC) -- At a time when the Northeast is in desperate need of help, utility crews from Alabama are being told thanks but no thanks.

Crews from Huntsville and Decatur utilities headed north earlier this week, but they were told by crews in New Jersey that they can't do any work there since they're not union employees.

The crews say they're frustrated because they originally received a call asking for help in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.

The crews are now headed to New York, to help with recovery work there.

WAFF-TV in Huntsville (http://bit.ly/Yuld3j) is reporting that the general manager of Decatur Utilities, Ray Hardin told Fox Business they were presented documents from the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers at a staging area in Virginia.

The documents stated they had to affiliate with a union to work, which the crews could not agree to.

Of COURSE AL and NJ still have LOVE for each other though! Kath

    Happy SaTURDey goils!

ADEY!! Good to sea ya sista! And you and Cam are friends outside of de HTL??  How awesome. Please look after mese goil Camille and try to keep her off de toilet. jk, but please look after each other otay? And hey Ad, did you happen to see de goil on Wheel of Fortune last night dat who looked like a twin of the red head in yese avatar? Come back more often and partay with us, de more, de maryier. cheers to ya!

Native Mainer....OH dear, where do I start? First, God bless you Kim, you are such an awesome lady. You are always so willing to help others and I love you so much for that.  And a BIG tank you for helping my people, i am touched (no comments from de peanut gallery, okey?) lol. Ennyway, on behalf of Wese, De People of New Jersey, we tank ewe so much for your personal assistant and helping the Red Cross with this disaster. I am jest so touched at the help that is coming from all over and knowing that you are one of those selfless people makes my fart so full of love ...

~~FOOT note:  ALL YE GOILS WHO DO NOT KNOW, Dis is a BERRY IMPORTANT HTL RULE, rule #1106B2A:12c states: De werd FART is used here losely but de meaning is HEART (♥)here in de HTL <aka Hot Tattie Lounge>). De lounge staff apollogise for any funcusion. Please do not let dat SMELLY word take away from de meaning).

As mese was saying to Kim, I greatly appreciate your help. The only beauty I see from such tragedy as Sandy is the way people come together. So many of my local friends are collecting items for those who are helping to restore power, clean up debris and so many other people who just left our area with jest the clothes on their backs. I know of at least ten friends who are running back and forth to the beach towns and other areas that were hit hard to bring clothes, food, baby formula, diapers, toiletries and so on,  to assist in the clean up and restoration of these once beautiful communities in NJ and also NY.  I hate admitting how much this all hurts mese fart and I am not alone in feeling an array of mixed emotioins including guilt for coming out of it so well. The thing that kills me the most about everything, is that community in Queens NY where they were hit twice, first time devastated on 9/11 then again with Sandy. Yet in seeing those people interviewed, and many of them have lost loved ones on 9/11, they still keep positive attitudes and have all come together. I admire that so much in people. America is truly a country United (hear de patriotic music playing again)??

I am paging Mema Sue and Chrissy two to de HTL tonight. Dose goils are berry spayshall in mese fart and dey know why, I know why and Stella knows why. And prolly Juliet too as de Stella tails all. Ok, hope to see some goils come out for a Post Hurricane Sandy fundraiser. For ebery person that reports to de lounge tonight before midnight my time, I shall donate an additional 3.00 to the 20.00 donation I plan on sending to de Red Cross.  This is something I want to do. I texted a berry small donation last night but it will be charged to my Ex (The Ronald). So come one come all, yer appearance in de HTL can buy a baby a new blankie and replace a lost binky and maybe buy someone a beer!

Love you girls, my fart is gonna blow any minute so mese must go (for real dis time). ♥♥♥♥♣♥♥♥(de club is Alli's slugga, don't know how dat got dere. I have to eat sumting but I will be back. Sorry i so werdy....Bottoms dry n Titties up!

This incredible image shows a the sun adorned with a glittering halo - a rare phenomenon called a 'sun dog'.

It was taken in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy by NASA solar physicist David Hathaway in Huntsville, Alabama two days ago.

The effect is generated by plate-shaped hexagonal ice crystals in high and cold cirrus clouds or, during very cold weather, by ice crystals called diamond dust drifting in the air at low levels.

A sun dog, scientific name parhelion from Greek 'beside the sun', creates bright spots of light in the sky, often on a luminous ring or halo on either side of the sun

Sundogs may appear as a colored ball of light to the left or right of the sun and in ice halos.

They can be seen anywhere in the world and are most dazzling when the sun is low.

    Good Morning!

Well Bernie, How amazing is that picture! And what I think is really awesome is that it was taken HERE (we live in Huntsville/Madison, and NASA is close by)....and  I didn't see it until my dear friend in Ireland showed it to me on this thread! How cool is that! That guy could be my neighbor....that would be funny! Anyway, I just woke up and it was neat to see that amazing sun halo that you posted.

AM sleeping a bit more, but still can't fall asleep before 2 or 3, but is is gettin SO much better!!! OMG I hated being so sleep deprived. Glad to be off that med, and soon I should be back to normal. I always take a melatonin, and without that other med, it usually works quite well for me.

Hope everyone will have a Super FUnDey SunDey at the HTL. It is cold and rainy here but at the HTL it is always the perfect temp and omg the wenches and tenders put out (no....NOT "put out" that way, but they do that anyway... ;) ) an amazing buffet and sooo many awesome dwinks and all the fountains are full and running over...the percotini fountain, fukitol fountain, mimosa fountain, chocolate fountain....EBBERYTHIN!

    ChEARS!

Bernie - AWESOME!!  I mean WOW WOW!! Thank you for sharing that pic and the link.

Kathy - and you live so close...but were you home from TN two days ago?  So glad you sleepin a bit more and glad you will be back on the wellbutrin soon.  I have to say...I have been sleeping soooo much better.  I take one 1st thing in morn, then about 5pm my 2nd one.  Then I dwink...then at bedtime it's coq10, melatonin, xanax, aromisin, & coumadin.  I have been averaging about 7 hours a night...love it!!

Tiedye - I sad to hear you having such trouble.  I must say tho, I too did not want to take much in the way of anti-depressant/mood altering drugs.  But since I started this wellbutrin...I had no idea how GOOD I COULD FEEL.  I no longer worry about addiction, I mean why at this point.  I can't do alot about my physical pain (funny but rarely take pain pills) but since my mind is in a better place everything seems easier to handle.  Personal choice I kno but hope you find some peace somehow.  Will keep you in my prayers!

OK all my lovely ladies...gonna get some woik done around dis house den go get some retail therapy.  Have a wunnerful FunDey SunDey in the HTL!!
