Kathy - It works best if you take it at the 1st sign of a cold.  Which I prob shud have done a few days ago.  But so far so good.  Supposed to dissolve one every 4 - 6 hours...which I will do all day.  Bad time of year to get the ickies!  So glad you are done with your shopping.  I too am finished.  Wanted to bake...but eh...if I do I do.  All I have to absolutely do is make the chili, order tamales, and finish wrapping a few.  We also think the Musinex is a life saver for head/chest colds.  I'm sad too bout JeanBean, but we do live so close...it will happen soon!

Cami - sounds like Joey and Donna had a fab time.  Sad she is leaving tomorrow but you and Joey will have lots of memories...o and soap too!

    Good Morning Loungettes!!!

Chrissy..I also am up for hearing your opinions.  Who gives a rats behind ..if your right your right and you and everyone else is entitled to their opinion.

Havent been able to watch any of the shooting footage and reports on tv...its just way too sad and too much for my mind to comprehend.  Then you hear of the mall then a hospital..really????  Will there be any place people will feel safe?

Its a crying shame that more attention isnt given to mental illness as just that an ILLNESS that may be treatable in some if given the mean and opportunity.

NM and Julie..you both deserve praise just for doing the job you do do and doing it well and without regret...that position is for special people and you two are it.

SuziQ..hate that you and JeanBean from Nanu Nanu have to push your meeting out.  I was hoping to hear about all the trouble you caused and mischief you got into in LV..well, this gives you more time to plan how you will take over Sin City and make it live up to its name.

Cammi...it sounds like you have had such a great visit from your friend Donna.  What a a special and close relationship with her and Joey as well.  I bet the soaps are beautiful and smell great...wish I was so crafty...I do crafts it just takes me 10 ish years to complete them.

Looks like Im heading back to Texas at the end of Jan for 9 days.  I have the time off and I was just holding out on buying my ticket and had seen a 250.00 round trip fare on Hotwire a few days ago..just didnt want to commit..but in thinking about it ...chit..its just going to get higher...so ..folded and bought a ticket...for 244.00  So Im set for the next few months...D comes here on the 26 for a week..then I go there for a week 1/2 and then she coms back here at the beginning of Mar for a week.  What happens after March is a mystery..

Latah girls..time to get the day rollin

I want to wear both necklaces that Donna made for me--they are both so beautiful.

Hell most of my clothes are purple and my DD agreed to that, so she'll do that for me. (brat)

My GS's school has a locked up place and someone has to let u in--but I'm sure if some nut would want to come in they could eadily do it. My mind goes to dark places when thins like this happen.

Good afternoon, Loungettes.  Home early today, getting slushy now in my area so I wound up things early.

Juliet--It's a sad commentary on our culture that someone can be forced to take TB meds, but nothing can be done about violent, or potentially violent mentally ill people.  I heard a psychiatrist on the radio today talking about how a potentially violent mentally ill person has to be discharged from a facility if he/she doesn't act violent while in the facility getting medication, even if that person says he/she will not take the meds once discharged.  It's almost like the rights of mentally ill people are more important than the lives of the people that person says he will hurt or kill.  In Maine, getting someone "blue papered" (involuntarily admitted to a psychiatric unit) requires a judges signature, and I know of at least one local judge that will not sign blue papers.  He says if the person is that dangerous he should go to jail, not a hospital.  More than once a person has been released from the ED and hurt someone or himself within hours after that judge refused to sign.  Since when is the rights of a person to do what he wants more important than protecting innocent people from injury and death?  It's all just crazy.  You're right, the institutions closed without adequate resources in place to keep mentally ill people safe and in the structured environment so many of them need.  I wish there was some way to hold responsible the people who decided to push through that approach.

Mema--at least in Maine, they cannot be forced into getting help without proving they are a danger even if they are underage.  In fact, it's probably harder to get help for a teen ager than an adult.  Teen rights is a growing movement here, one that is setting the stage for teens to be able to do whatever they want and eroding parental control.   To me, the thought of being a parent is frightening.  All that responsibility, but no authority to fulfill that responsibility (any form of discipline can be defined as abuse now), sounds like a no-win situation.  Hope your sore throat is behaving better!

Wahine--I rarely speak of my sister, she left the family years ago and hasn't been part of my life in decades.  But what my family went through is typical.  There's an article circulating, titled "I am Adam (whatever his last name is)"s Mother."  It's written by a woman with a mentally ill 12 year old son.  She describes some of the things that have happened, the roadblocks she's had to overcome to get him help.  It's frightening to read, because it's the absolute truth.

CynCyn--To answer your question "Will there be any place people will feel safe?"  I think that the only places people can feel safe are the places where it isn't advertised that everyone present is a potential victim.  The Batman shooter went to the one movie theater that doesn't allow firearms, not to the once closest to him.   Schools are gun free zones, as are malls.  What this tells a mentally ill person is "this is the place where you can kill lots of people to get famous, and no one will be able to challenge you, 'cause guns aren't allowed.  You will be the only one here with a gun."  Mass shootings don't happen at target ranges or police stations.  Israeli school teachers are required to be armed, and I have heard of a school shooting there.  It's not the guns that kill people any more than it's the SUV that kills the people in it.  The shooter, or the driver, is the one who does the act and is responsible.

Cammy--I like the idea of purple streaks in your hair!

Adey--good to 'see' you!  Where you been?

ORLA--schools and jails seem to be getting more and more like each other over time.

I am here, Pants, make me a dwink pronto. and make it a double. Just read through the thread and the topic is interesting and also very sad. My ex DH works in the mental health field and gets so frustrated when the violent ones are set free. It is a no win situation.

NM, I am so sorry that you had to go through so much with your sister, how very sad.

Cammie, love love love the purple streaks in your hair, you is a wild woman and mese loves that. What a sweetheart that Donna is, so glad she is so good with Joey. He sounds so adorable, I would be kissing on him if I saw him and don't tink he would like dat hehe!

Suz, feel better girl. Chit, I am sorry you are not feeling well and praying that the crud leaves you ASAP. Sorry about not meeting Beanie but at least you will have something to look forward to.

Orla, I remember you saying about schools being like jails, how sad is that? Gosh, when I was in school and I am sure true for all of you, anyone could jest walk into the school and no one ever got hurt. It is a sign of the times and it ain't purdy.

Well I guzzled down dose two dwinks and need me two more. I am hurting from my chest clean up todey, it ain't purdy but I am so hopeful. I got a great lesson in bacteria, wooo hoo, exciting stuff! Well probably not but I found it quite interesting to know that bacteria can lay in our bodies and be dorment for many years. Good to know. My PS is very educated in that area and dat pleases me. He is cute, other than the comb over, dude should just let the bald spot out, he would look much better than doing dat comb over ting. Men!!

so anybuddy partaying with mese? chug chug chug, dwinking like a bug. hehe!

    cheers!

Why We Put Angels On Top Of Christmas Trees

     Author Unknown

One Christmas, a long time ago, Santa Claus was getting ready for his annual trip; but there were problems …… everywhere. Four of his elves were away sick and the trainee elves did not produce the toys as fast as the regular ones. So, Santa was beginning to feel the pressure of being behind schedule. Then, Mrs. Claus popped in to tell Santa that her mother was coming to stay for Christmas; which stressed him even more. After a while, he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two had jumped the fence and run away, heaven knows where to.

Then, when he began to load the sleigh one of the boards broke and several large toy- bags fell to the ground, scattering their contents all over the place. Needless to say, Santa was not in the best of moods. Suddenly, the doorbell rang and he went to the door expecting another problem. But when he opened it, there was a little angel with a great big Christmas tree that she had brought especially to cheer him up. The angel greeted him very cheerfully, “Merry Christmas Santa Claus. Isn’t it just a wonderful day? I have a beautiful tree for you. See, isn’t it just the loveliest Christmas tree you’ve ever seen? Where would you like me to put it?” Thus began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree..

All you Grandpas and Grandmas, we are all reaching that
stage where we need to keep the wax out of our ears and keep the
hearing aids tuned up. What Is Couple Sex? An 8-year-old girl went to
her grandfather, who was working in the yard and asked him, "Grampa,
what is couple sex?" The grandfather was surprised that she would ask

such a question, but decided that if she's old enough to know to ask
the question, then she's old enough to
get a straight answer. Steeling himself to leave nothing out, he
proceeded to tell her all about human reproduction and the joys and
responsibilities it brings. When he finished explaining, the little
girl was looking at him with her mouth hanging open, eyes wide in
amazement. Seeing the look on her face, the grandfather asked her,
"Why did you ask this question, honey?" The little girl replied,
"Grandma says that dinner will be ready in just a couple secs.

Good morning, Loungettes!  Another sloppy day here, gonna wait and head in to work once the sun is up.  IT's well above freezing, so everything should start melting off soon, but it's gonna be slushy and yucky for a while.  Sigh.

DorKable--I was too tired to join in last night after work, but wish I'd had the energy.  Coulda used a dwinky.  Now I have to go to work and have to stick to coffee!  Learning about what's going on in your body is always interesting, isn't it?  Glad you like the new PS.   And you are NOT a debbie downer or a wendy whiner.  You are a human being going through chit and you have a right to moan, groan and whine.  And we'll listen and buy you dwinkies!

BBBBernie--too funny!  What a way for an angel to end up on top of the tree!

Cammy--it is hard to understand, isn't it?  Hope your back to sleep was calm and peaceful!

Juliet--Ah, the joys of misinterpreting/misunderstanding what a child says.  Ever hear the one about the Dad who was driving with his son when his son asked "What is sex?"  The dad, using the same logic as the Grandpa, explained the birds and the bees.  After a moment of silence the boy asks his Dad "How do I put all that in the little box on the Little League application?"

Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD is the Slushy Morning

    1/2 cup orange juice

    1/4 cup milk

    2 tablespoons white sugar

    1 oz peach schnapps

    1/2 oz vanilla vodka

    ice

Combine ingredients, mix in a blender with ice until slushy.

OMG, NM I have read that story about "I am Adam L's mom". And my mother had said to me that she worries about my grandson, and after I thought about, she is RIGHT. My GS has Aspergers and has behavior issues. At the age of 5, at my wedding in HI, someone had set him off. Well his dad was trying to calm him down, trying to divert his thoughts by talking and looking at the fish in the Lagoon, and he says "I just wish they would all die". Then later, not sure if he was still 5 or if he were 6, but they came to Laughlin to meet us, not sure what floor we were on, again something set him off, and he goes over to the window and says "you probably wish I would just jump out this window and die". My g'daughter at the age of 2 smacked her mother in the face, cuz she wanted down. And last year when we were there, we were in the car, and just out of the blue she says "I could kill you", she is 4! There is nothing wrong with her, I think it's a "learned" behavior, and I also think they are allowed to play video games that are violent, in fact I know they do, as they are Star Wars freaks.

Sue, I hope you feel better in time for your get together on Saturday.

Cami, glad you had such a good time with your friend, but I though you's were gonna post a picture! And how cool if you and Adey get to meet and bof of you wif poyple hair!

DorK, you have every right and reason to whine, bitch and complain. My gawd girl, look what you have gone through!

Cyn, you gots lots of goot things to look forward to, wowsa! So happy for you.

Beans, hope you travel safe and really like your new doc, I think you will. And soon you and Sue will be able to hook up.

NM, safe travels for you today in that yucky weather.

    Julie/BBBB, thanks for the laughs.

Katrinka n de Dorka will be meeting soon too, getting esited foy dat.

That Slushy Cocktail sure sounds interesting! I'll start with 2, since it's 2sday. Hoping too that the world doesn't end on Friday, as we are suppose to go out of town!!!!
