Juliet--I'm staying out of crowded areas as much as I can, and being careful when I have to go to a store or something.  Living alone makes the wash down part a lot easier.  Funny how family can change what they talk about over time, isn't it?

Mema--Oh, my, titty calls to go with butt calls, I'll never think of one of those calls the same way again!   LOLOLOLOL!  Good idea about the password sheet not having the whole thing, just enough for you to remember.  Good safety trick.  Great idea about the bleach rag, too! 

Cammy--the computer gremlin gets inside and puts a delay on the words showing up sometimes.  At least that's what I think.  Rebooting will temporarily evict the gremlin most times.  Pain in the anatomy, though, to deal with. 

Wahine--getting better, too, not totally well yet, need to get some more rest in.  Tell your DH to behave and be good.  And I stopped cold and drooled over Juliet's post, too, ahhhhhhh.

I'm looking at the current Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report--the report the CDC puts out every week on reportable diseases.  Confirmed influenza cases this week in the US is 29.   There have been 10,984 reported deaths in the first week of 2013 in the US (all causes, all ages).  Makes me wish they'd do more testing for the flu in ERs and such.

Cammy--the system is pretty  repetitive, isn't it?  M:y gripe is going through all that checking, then they don't have any of that info when I actually get to the hospital for the procedure or appointment.  I can't imagine the nurse hadn't heard the procedures put the way you did before, that's how most people talk about it!  She must be  young.  I understand about unloading, I unload on you ladies all the time, so it's only fair to let you unload once in a while!  Your poor friend, she sounds so unhappy, but she's probably being way more help than she realizes.  The grandbaby may not know her at Christmas, but this is just the beginning and she has lots of time to be an influence in his life as he grows.  Of course, not having her wine, that's a bit of a problem.  Can she sneak a bottle into her room and take a nip at bedtime????

Wahine--hope you got  a good night's sleep!  I slept pretty good last night, but had odd dreams and am still a bit tired getting up this morning, even though I slept in until 7:30.  Oh, BTW, it's Saturday now, and I'm doing a ketchup posting now. 

DorKable--your description of using knuckles and sleeves makes me think of the time when gloves where the thing to wear in public.  Maybe it's time to bring back that fashion feature?  White cotton gloves  that can be dropped in a basin of bleach water when one returns home, washed and reworn next time one left the house. . .

ORLA--counting down, here we go!  {{{{{hugs}}}}}  You'll probably have diluadid in your IV when you wake up.  Stock up on benadryl, it will stop the itching.  Many people have itching with morphine but not with one of the synthetic morphines.  It's odd but it works.  Fentanyl is the other commonly used pain med.  It's actually more commonly used than morphine now a days.

Goldie-- the flu strain circulating right now is not one of the ones in the vaccine, so no one is better or worse off with or without the vaccine this year (as usual, actually). 

Quickie note about masks: 

The face mask that we wear to protect ourselves against the flu and other diseases is very rarely used properly and so rarely actually provides any real protection.  The mask must cover the mouth and nose with no gaps from the skin--there must be a seal all the way around.  Once the mask gets damp, which happens in about 20 minutes of wear from the moisture in our breath, it no longer stops the passage of bacteria.  Most paper masks will not stop the passage of viruses because of the small size of virus particles.  Many people, nurses included, do not wash their hands before and after touching a mask (putting it on, taking it off, adjusting it, or just touching it for any reason) allowing for another chance to contaminate the hands.  When removing a mask it should be touched only by the strings or elastic that holds it on, it should not be waved around at all, and placed directly into a covered biohazard waste receptical to prevent bacteria and viruses from being released into the air.  Masks work over the mouth but under the nose are totally useless (common in Asian countries).  If the person wearing the mask has a cough, the mask should be changed after each cough.  When I was in the ER with the lastest asthma attack I had to take the mask off to get the nebulizer treatment, so for 20 minutes I was breathing directly into the room air without any barrier, and wearing a wet mask in between while I was coughing very hard.  The mask was no protection to anyone.

Cammy--fentanly and morphine are different, but related drugs.  One can be allergic to fentanyl but not  morphine (like me) and vice versa.

Funny how when we are in asian countries so many of them wear those white masks....guess they don' t realize they don't help as much as they may think they help.
