Sandra, what a lovely day you describe!  DH and I have been to Bandera on an rv trip in TX.  That's a beautiful area, the hill country.

Bonnets, yesterday it was 77 degrees here....oh what a fantastic taste of Spring, in fact, almost early summer ( when we have the summers we were used to on first coming back home ), but today, will be about 35 degrees cooler.  Big honkin' storm came through during the night......rats.  We will stay warmer than we have been staying....and we know this time of yr. we can get almost anything, but I do feel the majority of the time till a good Spring actually starts.....we should stay in the 40's at least.

The cold and icy winter this year has lasted way long enough for me.  We could get an odd snow here or there but nothing with any lasting quality.

Sandra...how interesting about Earl's Chicken. Makes a person want to go there.  In fact, the whole "story" is really interesting.  My idea of a great way to spend the day.  We older people are easy to make happy, huh !!!  That's ok.....I think the simple, fun pleasures and happiness have been well earned.

Back to my grey day, but these are what starts us heading for a good Spring.  Hope you all have a really good day.

    Blessings

    Jackie

    Welcome Pat,

I just turned 64.  I was diagnosed last August.  I have to go for my first mammogram since diagnosis next month.  It is so good to hear from someone like you that is so far out from diagnosis. It gives me hope that all will be ok next month. Thanks for posting.

Hi Jo!  There are a lot of us here that are a few years out from surgery and treatment....  I had my surgery Dec. 4th, 2009..... and Jackie I know, is NED even longer!

I thought I was too old to get BC, at 72!  But nope.....  can hit anyone.... I'm just lucky, I am not a young gal, like some of these other women are, and with small children.  Mammograms are a life-saver.

    Jo,

I was diagnosed in late 2007 and finished txs. except for Arimidex ( 5 yr. pill ) in mid 2008.  Just a few months ago I was released from having to continue taking the pill as I had my five yrs. in.  Life comes back and though I think about this disease big time when it comes time to do the yearly mammogram, truth it.....the mammogram only found one of my tumors.  I had two in the same breast....one was non-aggressive, slow growing found on the mammo....second was much bigger, aggressive and fast growing.  Not found.  Or rather....found during lumpectomy to rid me of the "discovered tumor".   Either way......the first found problem led to discovering the second so it all worked out.

Over time, and some time back I quit worrying about every little ache or 'feeling' and seldom really think of myself as having had this disease.....just get antsy when time to do the mammo's again.  Just as an aside, you may find having mammo's now are a bit tense for you......we all seem to hold our breath a little now.  Just wanting you to know it is probably part of our "new" normal.  The complacency we once had likely may stay gone for a whole lot of us.

My yardstick now is....this is my day.  I'm going to take it and do the very best I can with it, no matter what becomes a part of it, or how those parts turn out.  All I can do is my very best and try to keep growing through all of it.

    Wishing you well next month.

    Blessings

    Jackie

Even when I stop visiting other boards I will continue here because there are so many with encouraging outlooks.  I'm now past all treatment and healed from rads, but realized I will always tense up when it's time for new mammogram.  I used to just go with no thought at all about what it could show.  But beyond that, enjoying each day is a world of it's own.  So thank you to Jackie and all the others who show us what we have to look forward to and how we have years to enjoy day by day.  Truly thank you.

Mimi - thanks for the reference for Domeboro for itching on the Winter Rads board.  My RO approved today even though the tech said it wasn't really used much for breast cancer.

MinusTwo - I used it briefly for weepy nipple area. I also didn't find much reference to it and none of my BC acquaintances used it. By the time of year I got to use it it was close to early-mid May and cool felt good on nip. I bought it OTC at Walgreens I think or CVS. Came a rather largish box much more that I would need. Packed I assume in large pkgs to treat large body areas that might get poison ivy. PTL nobody gets into poison ivy here - not sure there's enough moisture to even grow that.

Luv - Thanks for the confirmation.  BTW - We do have poison ivy in Houston.  I'll send the extra to my son who lives in Northern California on a hillside covered with poison oak.

    Hi all,

We had our home study yesterday.  The lady that came was very professional and kind.  I do not think my house has been this clean in a long time.  DH was great to help.  We have been very busy at the broom shop this week.  He has sold out everything he had and is taking orders for people to come back and pick up.  I am so proud of his craft.  I have been hand sanding handles, waxing, and sewing brooms.

Hello to all the newcomers, this is a great group of women.

    Hugs to all

Minustwo - Let us know if Domeboro helped.  My techs didn't know much about it, but it was the nurse that suggested it.  She even called the pharmacy attached to the hospital to see if they had any in stock.  They told her it was seasonal, but would now start ordering it since she was recommending it to rads patients.  There were twelve packets in the box.  Even thought the box says throw it away after each use, the nurse said keep the two cups worth on the counter and use it throughout the day and then pitch it at night and start over in the morning.  I am taking the left over to my lake cottage for bug bites or poison ivy.  I'm not keen about the smell, but it sure did help me.

    Good Morning all

I was going to say it in latin, but I don't think I can spell it===I'm sorry I've been missing so much--u are all beautiful ladies, but sometimes I don't come on regularly like I used to--ahem job u know. LOL Everyone sounds pretty good or getting to feel better and weather is picking up---BTW Jackie and I live in the same state and yet out weather is so different so when we do speak of weather it sounds like we live across the country from each other---It never got near 70 here yesterday or any day.

Chevy u sound good and I know u like to keep moving and who can judge, cuz u'r doing great--I'm so glad I was worried really, sometimes u hear crazy stories about broken hips and it scared me. U are a true trooper. And I so admire how u have that great attitude----OK done being nice now. Oh that took a lot out of me.

And Mimi u are so right, and I've said it so many times when I get a cold I always say I've never been so sick in my whole life, cuz at that time that's how I feel--It's amazing how bad a cold can make u feel. A simple cold.

Carole golfing is starting? Oh u love that--now the weather has to cooperate and u'll be busy,

I don't know the forecast but we did get about 4-5 in. of snow yesterday but I think the weather HAS to start big improvements now, my report.

Well I hope everyone has a good day. xox  Waving Hi to everyone

Cami, good to hear from you.  Your weather is unbelievably snowy.  If I heard the news correctly last night, the snow record hasn't been broken yet.

How many snow days has Joey had?

Mommarch, the home study must have gone well with that spotless house and two good people like your dh and you.  The brooms sound like something I would definitely buy.  When you have time, post a picture.

Sally, a cold can make you feel miserable.  I forget that until I get one.  Hope you feel better today.

DH was up at 6:30 am.  He's driving over to Biloxi to play golf with a friend who lives in SD.  This friend and another man are spending a week in Biloxi, escaping from the cold and snow.

This morning is my workout at the YMCA.  Then my mother's hair apptment is this afternoon.

    Wishing everyone a good Thursday.

Okay, so what are you gals doing with Domeboro?  I used it for "Stasis Dermatitis"  on my one leg.... I mean I have TWO, but one leg was broken out in little blisters, and was just a mess!  The more scratched my leg, the worse it got!   I read about using the Domeboro online, for this.  I bought mine at Walgreens, in the little box with the packets in it....  I mixed a packet in a container with water, would rub the mixture on my leg several times a day...with my fingers....   Keeping it for several days, in the refrigerator.  It helped, but eventually, whatever it was just gave up and went away.   Are you using it for burns from radiation?

And Cammers!  You were "worried" about me?  Now THAT is cute...ha!  Nope, nothing can keep a good man down.... I mean woman.  I'm only using my cane now!  In fact, sometimes I turn around and forget to walk with my cane!    I get to my desk, and when I get up, I think "where is my CANE?"  And I left it in the other room!  Don't say it Cammi....   I think that rod and screws are causing a "short" into my brain, and I can't think "straight" sometimes...Ha!

Morning everybody else!  And Jackie.... yes, each day is a "gift"..... I love that!   Okay, DH is just getting up, so I have to pretend I am rarin' to go, and full of sugar and spice and chocolate cokes....ha!

Chevy - the nurse recommended the Domboro for the radiation dermatitis itch that just wouldn't stop.  I also had the packets that mix with two cups of water.  But soak a cloth in the water and put it on the itche places still pretty wet.  I wrapped a towel over that to keep from dripping onto my bed sheets or chair.  Leave the wet cloth on for about fifteen minutes.  It relieves the itch for many people.  Also helps tighten up the old skin to hold it together for a while to protect new tender skin.

DH & I got up early this morning and went to the Black Bear Resturant at the Indian Lodge at the Davis Mt. State Park for breakfast.  I have been feeling pretty good, but it was all I could do to get through breakfast, we went back to the shop and I was hurting so bad I could hardly stand it.  He sent me home.  I came home and rubbed icy hot on all the muscles that were hurting and crawled under my electric blanket.  Sometimes I just have days like this, I really do think it is the Tamoxifen

Hope everyone is having a good day.  And Oh the lady who did the home study called for some more info and she said that our references were checking out great and everyone was impressed with us.

    Hi all,

Couldn't post this morning as  had to be at work today.  Got up late and didn't mind a bit......but not able to do all I'd have liked too.  Sure wish you were feeling better mommarch, but oh how glorious to hear  what the home study lady had to say.  The Universe ( all the angels, and spirit guides ) know you are not feeling much up to par and sent you some special encouragement.  How fantastic -- hope your remedy kicks in soon for you and that you are feeling a lot better soon.

For the record....I too bet it is the Tamoxifen.  I didn't realize I was having side effects till almost time to stop taking my 5 yr. everyday companion.

Mimi, don't even think of leaving us.  Just think, not so long ago you thought you would never know who of us was talking and now you are jumping right in because you are one of us.

Cami, isn't is the oddest thing.....it's a bit over 50 here today.  Just four short hours south of you and it is another world either direction.  Hope you are feeling good and sticking to your cute sassy ways.  You are so lovable.

Chevy, I have nothing to say.....but that you too don't know how much I can feel -- a rush of warmth and fantastic feelings when I see your posts pop up on this forum.

Everyone here brings such special things as you share yourself with the rest of us.  Be it ups, or those dreadful downs, or just needing to say hi and connect to someone who wears the walking shoes of someone who has had a diagnosis like  we have --- all of you are unique and perfect --- and all can bring sunshine and love to cloudy days and some of our rivers that get hard to cross.

Carole, give your Mom a hug from me.  Today is a miss Mom day for me, but I'm not always sad.  She needed to go --- and I talk to her there all the time -- but I don't get to hug her now.

    Blessings,

    Jackie

Jackie u re so sweet, I'm sure the people u take care of are so happy to see u. U'r a wonder.

Mimi use whatever makes u feel better, some have such sensitive skin that it really burns and itches.

Mommarch I hope u feel better today. And this inspection sounds like it's going well--I'm sorry I get confused but I thought at 15 u'r GD can pick her place if reasonable but maybe it's because it's out of state? Oh what a time with all of this. It has to be better.

I;ve been up a couple of hrs, now I'm getting tired.

When I awaken in the morning, I am thankful for a new day.  I am thankful for everything that I have materially.  I am thankful for everything I have spiritually.  I thank God for allowing me to experience these things, even the experiences that may not seem so positive, such as developing an illness.  I may not understand why I have the illness, but I sense that it is there for a purpose, and so I thank God for it.  I ask him to allow me to expand beyond my narrow-mindedness and self-centeredness so that I can see the good that comes from everything.   Betty Eadie

Morning gals!  I had a day with my DD#2 yesterday!  It was so much fun!  She picked me up to go eat lunch at Olive Garden, and then on the way home we stopped at Sprouts for fresh pineapple, and things we didn't need, but HAD to have...Loopy Even some sliced corned beef from the Deli.... I'm not going to fix corned beef and cabbage this year, because we just don't care for it.... just the sandwiches, so I had this bright idea, to just buy the sliced deli-meat!  Now I have to get some good bread and Thousand-island dressing...

Then we came to my house, and bundled up, and watched "Curly-Top" with Shirley Temple!  Such a cute, sweet movie!   I sat on my recliner with a heating pad, and she sat on the sofa, and we just had the best time doing nuthin'!  NEXT time, I'll make a picnic, and we'll eat on TV trays, and watch another one of her movies....  DD#1 gave her a set of Shirley Temple movies....  I must not have watched them much when I was a little girl, but to see them now, was VERY special, with MY Daughter!  We are usually always "running" somewhere, always "busy".... but to enjoy that time together was so peaceful with her!

It's like I "took the time" to just be with her........and not be running, or shopping somewhere.

Jackie, my special little worldly friend.....  You are like a "stabilizer" to all of us.... You somehow keep us all centered, and able to focus, if even for a minute, on the special things in our life.

And Cammi,  little sleepy one......  How's that phone business going?  I TOLD you, you have to get used to these new modern inventions.... I'm pretty sure the p-h-o-n-e  is here to stay....  as confusing as it is.....   I mean forGET about texting..... which I'm sure that even JOEY knows how to do THAT one.... but I was THINKing, maybe if you put your phone on "speaker"????  you can have an easier time with it?    I can hear a conversation better, with my phone on "speaker"....  Then both my hands are free also, to write down important information.....if I ever GET any.    And since your "job"  (snicker) is dealing with the public, anything you can do to make your "job" easier, would be most beneficial....  Okay.... glad I could be of help.....  I WAS, wasn't I?
