Chevy, you sound very happy and chipper!  Glad you had such a enjoyable day with your DD.  And wise advice for Cammi!  I'm sure she'll appreaciate that.  LOL

I had a wonderful day yesterday, too.  FINALLY got out on the golf course with friends and knocked the little white ball here and there and up on the green and into the cup.  It was cart path only which means we have to keep the golf cart on the paved path and walk out to the ball on the fairway with club in hand.  So I got a lot of exercise.  Normally we drive the cart to the ball when the course isn't too wet.

The bad news is that we woke up to gentle rain this morning with a forecast for more rain tomorrow.

Yesterday I went to Sam's and bought one huge can of crushed tomatoes and another of tomato sauce, a humongous package of ground beef, all to make a big pot of meat sauce.  Tomorrow's noon meal at my mother's house will be spaghetti.  I'll freeze the surplus sauce.  Figured I might as well make a big batch while I was at it.  The Prego ready-made was cheap but I like the home-made sauce better, plus I can control what the ingredients are.  I already have onion and garlic which I'll chop in the food processor.  Easy.

    Wishing everyone a wonderful day.

Well, can't say this quote wasn't tailor-made.  All the while reading what you wrote Chevy......I thought of the quote and how special the times can be that we are really not expecting to turn out as they do.  Often we do not get those sort of lazy accidental extremely peaceful times......but when they come, it is absolutely what we needed to restore our zest and wholeness.  Perfection personified all wrapped up in an afternoon where we actually become one with an event and the person we share it with.  It is being in perfect pitch and tune and each of you are wholly there.

I think those and many things like it are what keep us waking up and eager for another day because reaching that perfection is a gift of being totally present while the present unfolds through us in a special warmth that we are not trying to have.....because we are not attempting to make anything happen.  That is what makes it work so well.....because we sense somehow that leaving it alone is what brings the perfection.

I'm going to have a pretty good day I think.....despite the fact that some snow could be coming ( but I certainly hope we are missed ) I know Spring is not far away.  Already wondering with the odd weather of the winter what we may get for Spring and Summer this year.  I'm hoping that it is good, but you just never know.  The past summer was one of our nearly perfect ones.....and I'm hoping that we will see something good again.

Saying a big hi to all and hoping you have a wonderful Saturday.

    Blessings

    Jackie

Upper 50s today! Went for a ride, saw a lot of snow melting. The bushy tailed rats are happy, more black walnuts uncovered under our walnut tree! May even cook the steak for dinner out on the BBQ tonight!

Need to replace the bottom of my Apple Laptop again. Don't know if it's worth  the cost or shud I get an Ipad or new Mac-pro laptop, or nothing , since my Nook will do the internet too, when we travel! Yikes I have no idea. I'm only semi tech savy. Don't even have smart phones, just "stupid"  phones, which we rarely use , as we live in a dead zone, so have a land line still.

I was also looking to get 4 seasons CD. Went to see Jersey Boys while visiting my son in Vegas. I love their music. Didn't have it at Best Buy, guess i'll have to look at the mall. Good evening ladies.

Bonnets:  Glad you got to see Jersey Boys.  What a wonderful show.  Hard not to sing & dance through the whole thing.  I may have to get out my old original Four Season's vinyl this afternoon.

Jean That would be a great show to see--I'm sure.

Jackie Chevy is right we all look forward to u'r quotes they always seem to touch someone. Yea we're supposed to get some snow.

Carole that sounds so yummy and u'r right as long as u'r making it make enough for another time.

Oh yea thanks Chevy for the brilliant idea for the speaker phone, I did try, it sounded like a wooshy tunnel and as I was struggling to get used to it and writing everything down and getting done--I was so proud of myself I forgot to send my boss the email--the man called me today and said I didn't hear anything yet--I of course yelled at the guys and I got an email back saying u never sent it--I checked they were right. So I tole them to tell the man it was my fault and I'll take the bullet for that one. So U'r idea was already in use for me and wasted. Carole don't encourage Chevy for any advice.

We got up this morning to no electric, 33 degrees and 2 inches of snow.  What a surprise.  Elect. was off about 4 hours.  We are snug now.  Internet has been down because of snow on dish.

Have spegitti sauce on the stove.  DH favorite.  Since I had chemo I am not to fond of red sauces, but I will eat some.

    Everyone have a good day

Mommarcch, Those brooms are great. I had one from the Philippines and it got up fine stuff better than any broom before or since. No electric and 33 degrees is not a good combo. Great to hear it's back on.

mommarch, thanks for the picture of the brooms ... they are very artistic ... artistic items are so much more fun to use.  So glad your power is back on ... being cold is not fun.

Hi Wrenn, Jackie, Cami, and MinusTwo.

Nap time for me.  I did walk ... a short one.

Wow...I'm not going to complain about my weather now.  Started out with temps in 30's and rain.  The rain was light and did not have the snow flurries that could have come along for the ride.  As ever, even though I don't like the weather, I could be ok with it if we just had some sun.  Makes all the difference to me.    Those brooms are fantastic mommarch.

So glad you got your power back on and I also hope we all get better weather tomorrow.  I have a desktop weather app that will give me a ten-day outlook......maybe I'll check it out later.

    Blessings

Pictures of the brooms are fun.  Thanks so much.  Love hand made anything, but especially when it is useful.  These days I try not to get anything that needs dusting. Nerdy

Welcome Deb! This is a great group of women with all kinds of advice and support. Do you know what happens next? I'll pass along the very good advice to stay off Google. Too easy to scare yourself about things that don't even apply to you. This site has trustworthy information and is up to date. We're looking forward to getting to know you.

Mommarch, I LOVE the brooms you guys make...!  I had bought one several years ago, from this little Asian market.... only it looks kind of like these...

    image

It has a shorter handle, than the regular hand-made brooms, and it's convenient to use with one hand, since they are so short!  I saw the gal sweeping up around the market, and it did a pretty good job...  These short ones are also made into "wedding" brooms, and decorated with bows, and silk-flowers...   What was the logic behind that?  Was it to sweep out all problems in the marriage?

Okay.... It's a tradition, for newly-weds to jump over a broom, after the ceremony to "sweep out the past"....etc.

Oh wait!  Welcome Debz!  You have the same DX as me!  I had radiation after the lumpectomy also, only with a MammoSite device!  Ask your team about that, okay?  It is a different way to receive the radiation, and a lot shorter time...   I had my surgery in Dec. of 2009.....   Don't be afraid.....

Sometimes you will go nuts reading too much on the Internet....  Because you might be different.... They will know more after your final pathologic report....  because so much depends on the size, node involvement, etc.   But BC treatments have come a long way, since even 10 years ago!    So YOU are different...  In other words, IT AIN'T LIKE IT USED TO BE..... Thank heavens!    So YOUR treatments, and your team will work out a plan just for you.....

And Wren is right....these threads have a lot of good information, not that we always know what we are talking about, but we've all been through it...   You should always write down questions to ask when you go see your Doc's....  and write the answers down.  And ask for copies, etc. of all the reports, tests, etc.  It just helps to figure things out, because sometimes your mind gets so jumbled you can't think straight.

Welcome Debzjourney  so glad you found us and hope you will stay and find comfort and care among all the fantastic ladies here.  Breast cancer is scary as any kind is apt to be.  For some reason it seems to be much more adept at striking a really deep fear in us..........so the gals gave you great advice.  The Internet is scary and just so very full of information that won't much apply to a very large majority of us.  We are all somewhat unique in where our cancer may be, and our responses to whatever treatments are designed for us.

Ask a million questions until you are satisfied that you feel ok with your treatment plan.  If you are like many of us.....this came from the blue and we started out knowing almost nothing.  I listened to the still voice inside of me and that helped me to decide if something was right.  We are all a bit different though we may have a diagnosis that sounds very close to someone else's.

This is a wonderful place and most of us stay here as we received such wonderful help by coming when we were first diagnosed.  We have forged great friendships and lastly just want to give back to those just beginning this very unenviable journey.  We are all wishing you soooo well.

    Blessings

    Jackie

Welcome, Deb.  Sorry that you have a reason for us to welcome you.  Feel free to chime in as often as you like to share your journey.

I didn't know about wedding brooms.

Off to WW meeting this morning, wearing the "weigh-in outfit"!!!

Wow....those brooms.  Well, I did 'hear' one time about jumping across brooms when married, but  forgot it long ago.  The decorated ones are pretty though.  Sounds like a neat tradition.

Carole.....hmmm.  I always get into trouble weighing anywhere away from home.  I'm bad about weighing first thing in the morning......you weigh less.  Added to the fact I usually have nothing or next to nothing on to further boost my morale and assure myself that I'm doing a great job.

I think you can weigh a couple more pounds if you weigh at night......so try to avoid that if possible.  I did a WW thing once and since we always weighed in at night ( that is where I learned that you weigh more then ) I felt really good about things if I "had lost" at our weigh-in.  How clever of me to forgo ever weighing myself at night anymore.  Don't want to go to bed depressed.

Weather coming up is going to be good.  We did have a bit of sun yesterday late afternoon.  That raised my spirits as this mornings does.  I love the sun and don't feel great unless it is making the world sparkle.

    Blessings

    Jackie

Chevy, My broom looks a lot like yours. Short handle, but angled a bit more. I think jumping the broom goes back to slave days in the South. They weren't allowed to marry, so it was their way of saying they were a married couple. I do like the idea of sweeping away the past.

Debz, If you're the kind who likes all the details, Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book has great detail and is understandable.

Down 1.8 lbs!  Had hoped for greater weight loss but better than last Monday following the birthday week.

Today whizzed by.  My niece came to my house and we rode together to the WW meeting.  She's the mom of the 3 kids I've talked about.  After the meeting I took her to Sam's Club and she bought fruit at a good price, using her food stamp card.

This afternoon I did some housecleaning.

Tonight our temp. is supposed to get down to the mid 30's.  Very atypical for this time in March.  But tomorrow will be beautiful with temp. in the 60's.  I am convinced this will be our last "cold snap" of the winter.  Before you know it, I will be grumbling about the hot weather!

    Good evening ladies,

Deb....Welcome to this site. They are a great group of ladies.  I had the same dx in March 2010. Had a lumpectomy and then the mammosite radiation. Be sure to ask any questions you have as many times as needed so you understand and are comfortable with the treatment and the doctors.

Mommarch... your brooms are great.  Glad your electricity came back on in a short time.

Weather here was sunny but a little chilly. Hopefully, we are done with the snow and the weather will keep getting warmer.

Deb, welcome. On this thread we talk like girlfriends do...teasing sometimes and sharing our day to day lives. What kind of breast cancer do you have? Your stage, grade, and treatment plan could apply to many types of breast cancer so I was just curious.

This is a busy week. I'm going back into the hospital Friday morning for surgery #4. I'll be having the first step to repair the parts of three muscles I lost 7 months ago when I got an infection after the BMX. Those muscles are too short now and cause pain in my left chest, underarm, and shoulder. Hopefully the Z-plasties the plastic surgeon is doing will heal and grow new muscle fibers, lengthening the muscles and relieving the pressure. I'm also having some reconstruction to the pocket holding my left implant. The tissue doesn't seem to be strong enough after the infection so the doc will try another set of sutures and may have to use Alloderm. (It's always painful when I have pocketwork. Feels like I've been hit with a baseball bat on the ribs.)  He was supposed to do some fat grafting to replace some of the soft tissue lost in the infection, but he said he'd rather put that off until the next surgery. Aaaarrrrgh! I was hoping this would be the last one, but it looks like there will be a #5. Yuck. I'm pretty tired of this. I had the pre-admission appointment today and will go in for a minor procedure Thursday morning to get another PICC Line placed the day before surgery. It's like a chemo port, except smaller, temporary, and put on the inside of your upper arm. It allows me to have IV antibiotics at home too. My husband is an expert in PICC line care after having one for so long.Tomorrow morning I'll be at the hospital again, this time for another iron infusion. My numbers were looking good and then took a tumble. Oh well. It's easy. I lounge in the chemo clinic for about 5 hours as the iron drips in slowly.

Life sure is complicated these days. But it beats the alternative. Smile
