(((Sandra))) I did enjoy u'r picture.

Everyone is in a mood to clean or paint or move things around--good for all of u. it'll keep u busy--Me? not so much. Tho my DD is going to do the main bathroom--colors grey walls, black-gray-red everything else--she's very dramatic.

Joey has some sort of play today at school he's Lincoln, no not the car Chevy---He's got a beard and bow tie and white shirt has has to wear.

Sandra, The PICC line sounds like a wonderful idea. I've been a blood donor and they always ask if I ever have trouble. I lie and say no because I think it makes them nervous if I say yes. Drinking a lot of water for 2 days before the draw really helps plump up the veins.

Deb.....golly, wish you did have a navigator.  One of the great things about them is.....if you do want to read up on things, they are able to steer you to the materials that more suit your diagnosis.  Just invaluable.  I guess you will just have to be satisfied with us.  If you are really stalled out, you can pm the Mods and I bet they would get you on track with where the information can be found on this site.

Wren, that is so wonderful that you donate blood.  I use to do it all the time when I was younger.  I have A - and I guess ( at least at the time ) it seemed to so often be in short supply and I would get a call.  Have not done it for a long time now.

Sandra, we will all be in your pocket tomorrow making sure things go well.  You won't be alone.  Your OR room will be full to the brim.

    Blessings

Jackie, who is so, so ready for Spring.

Cami, are you going to Joey's play?

Sandra, glad the PICC is in.  You will certainly have a clean abode to recoup in.

Deb, hi ... keep us posted ... and Happy Spring to you too.

I just enjoyed watching a dove tug at a piece of strawy packing stuff bigger than it was.  Nest building time is fun.

Hi gals.... Had another fun "movie date" with my Daughter..... she brought over another Shirley Temple movie....Hiedi..... and it was so cute!  I made deviled eggs sandwiches, and macaroni and cheese, so we had a "picnic" in front of the TV...Ha!

Then she raked a lot of pine-needles & sticks from the Winter mess off of our lawn.... Gotta get the water going, maybe tomorrow.... Everything is sooooooo dry, especially under the tree, where the snow can't get to the ground!  It's a huge Colorado Blue Spruce.... probably 150 years old, and sheds like crazy in the fall....  So have to start pouring the water under it.

Thinking of Joey, Cammi!  Did you get to go see him?  He was Lincoln?  That sounds so cute.... take a picture of him!

Sandra, glad you got that taken care of....  Hope you have less worries now!  Bye all!

Chevy, my trees need water too.  I am at the tail end of a BIG cold.  Hopefully, I will be motivated to start watering tomorrow.  Maybe I should carry buckets instead of using a sprinkler or not.  I was thinking buckets would count as weight lifting, but it might also be too much for my surgery side.  I need a trainer to bring me back into some sort of shape.

Jackie, I haven't donated since my surgery. Something about only having one vein keeps me wanting to protect it. The last person who drew blood used a butterfly because she said it was sitting right on the tendon. Mine is A also. I needed blood with my first childbirth (2 units) and I always felt I had a debt to pay forward.

Chevy and Sally, The tree roots that take up water are out at the edge of the tree. The area near the trunk has big roots, not the little drinkers. I would rake up the spruce needles, just because they're so flammable. No lugging buckets on the surgery side. You're not even a year out yet.

monmarch - really interesting article.  Thanks for posting.

Cami - did you really just speculate that Chevy is 150 years old?  If so, I'd like some of her secret magic.

Sandra - hope you're asleep & not up worrying.  Let us know when you can.

I have learned alot from being here, just the short time I have been here. I found out the American Cancer Society had Navigators.  Has anyone ever used them?

Yes, Deb.  My navigator was in the Women's Breast Center where I had my biopsy's ( both breasts ) though cancer only found in one.  Donna kept me sane.  She made sure that I was able to get information that mainly pertained to my diagnosis and interestingly......7 year prior, she has her own diagnosis which was a whole lot like mine.

She made herself available to me 24/7  even though she and her dh had just adopted a brand new baby girl and I really did rely on her.  I had all my treatments done at the V.A. and that meant that outside of a couple of times, I was the only female in the chemo lounge.  Didn't think of that when I opted to have my chemo there.  I sometimes hesitated with questions feeling 8 or 9 men 'could' be all ears, and never totally got over the slight squeamishness.  I did on occasion wait till one of the nurses was free and go up to the desk quietly......but for major reassurance and SOME questions....I just went straight to Donna.

She made me feel so comfortable and I felt almost that due to the similarity of our diagnosis, that someone up there made sure that I had someone who could really help and make me feel secure.

If you get a good one.....they are priceless in my book

    Blessings,

    Jackie

It's very early Friday am and I am thinking of you now Sandra.  If you are up worrying hurry to sleep.  Friends will be holding you close today and waiting to hear when you feel better.

Jackie Illinois lady thanks for the comment about fatigue.  I slept lots that day and feel energetic now.  Maybe just getting older is what causes the need for more rest some days.  I can recall wondering why my mom just got tired sooner than me when I was stupid and young.  At three weeks past rads I feel pretty darn lucky to be feeling good.

I love Sandra's post reminding us getting old is a privilege.  Our state senator was on radio yesterday talking about legislation to protect the elderly ( defined as age 65).  Burst my bubble just as I was driving to a concert 50 miles away and enjoying the sunny ride.  And several new clown gigs scheduled!

Happy spring.  Hoping to hear from Sandra soon.  Thelma. Aka Mimi

Oh Mimi u sound good nd u have some jobs coming up too--that's even better--It's nice to have u here and u'r positive attitude u clown u.

Deb I never heard of  navigator either, I don't even know if my hospital had them no one offered and it was fine for me But I'm not inquisitive at all but they would really be great. See we keep on learning all the time.

I hope a good day is in store for all..

Oh you guys!  You're supposed to igNORE her, when she gets going like that!  Cammi, you little chit!  Well, yes, I DID help plant that tree...Ha, ha!  Who ELSE would have thought of that?   Yes, I'm going to get out there this afternoon, and rake more pine needles...  They HAVE to come up, or the grass has a hard time growing under that tree.   I think this tree is so HUGE, is because we live next to an irrigation ditch, (fenced in) and the tree roots can drink from there when they have it running in the Summer.

My little Brother and I used to play in this ditch, a block away, when we were kids...  We grew up in this neighborhood, and I just love all the trees, and critters I see in there.  We've had fogs, raccoons, fox's...snakes, musk-rats, and they all like to live there... Even Owls... not to mention the squirrels we put food out for.    We have a lot of Robins now!  The Crows are the big bullies around here.... I mean even the squirrels run when they stop by!  So that's your nature report for the day.

Deb, I have never used any other resources, but I didn't go through near as much as a lot of the women on here...  If your friends or family aren't there for you, or you don't have many, then I think you could find other help......   Don't feel alone....  You just get afraid then....

Mommarch!  Your whole story is just amazing!  I love seeing the pictures, and I'm going to look up that article, so I can read it better!   He MUST be your Husband, right?  He looks so "worldly" or peaceful!  A man of God!   Thank you for posting them...

Great pictures, Mommarch.  Thanks for posting them.

Thinking about Sandra today and hoping all goes well with her surgery.

I did not have a navigator but I completely trusted my bc dr. who was also my mx surgeon.

I'm playing golf today so have to get moving this morning.

    Wishing everyone a good day.

My nurse navigator was an important, to me, resource.  I met her after diagnosis.  Although all my doctors were willing to answer all my questions, my nurse navigator was just a phone call away between appointments.  Sometimes I had a question that I forgot to ask a doctor; I could call her.  She also let me know about free wellness services provided by my cancer center.  She added a little bit of security to a very anxious time.

Welcome, Blondie.  You're a young gal compared to some of us.  Chevy is at least 150, according to Camille!  That probably makes me about 135.

This afternoon I painted blotches on the walls with samples of two paint colors, one for the living room and one for the new guest room.  I may like the old color in the guest room better.  It's a pretty yellow, not too light.  The new color is also yellow but lighter.  But I'll probably go with it anyway.  Guess we'll have to put blinds or shades on the two windows in that room that don't have either.  Since it was my office I didn't worry about night privacy.  The only room in which we close the blinds is our bedroom.

Today was a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10.  I played golf and did better on the back 9 than the front 9.

Hope Sandra is doing well.  And everybody else, too.

Hi gals!  I am finally home and settled into the Illlinois daily routine.  My back survived the ride home and my chiropractor worked on that and the superficial blood clot in my leg when I got home.  The blood clot is still there but is much smaller.  He treated it with acupuncture and cold lazer treatments.  Anyway, I am regrouped and ready to get back into the springtime schedule here.

I have not even attempted to get caught up on the "pages" of posts that I've missed.  What an undertaking!  I will try to get a start on them tomorrow.

Chevy, I hope you are doing well!  I know we were "laid up" at the same time.  I also hope that everyone is doing well, too.  Hopefully when I go back and read your posts, I will be able to contribute more.

    Hugs to all of you!!!

Blondie...welcome-welcome.  You indeed have found a home here.  We are older women here and it varies but I'd say your just right.  It has been some time now but I think this forum started as we who are well through menopause do often have slightly different issues from the younger gals.  I hope you will come often.  We are and can be very serious, though we have a lot of fun as well.   Discuss nearly everything and anything and have learned how to be really good hand holders.

Rita...it is so good to see you back.  Everyone really missed you.  Now we know you are ok ( are you hearing big sighs' ) we can all relax.

Carole --- wow !!!  I read the same thing Cami did and didn't think that.....hmmm, I think there is something wrong with me.  Actually, living out here in the woods like we do......if I had no blinds, only the owls and raccoons would be available for any eyeful.  Guess I'll be kind to myself and say that is why I didn't "get" thoughts while reading your post.

    Blessings

    Jackie
