Good Morning,
Wow !!!!! Through most of the day yesterday we were pretty good --- then the storms finally reached us. Very dramatic -- not as much in the late afternoon as later on after dark. Just poured and the thunder and lightning were quite a spectacle. Glad they are over with. We may get a shower or so today --- but after yesterday I will be holding my breath just a little. Hopefully, we will get through this and go into a dryer time. Getting really weary of the rain and storms. Off to give Dh a ride to work. It always seem to take so long for the mechanics to get to the work that has to be done on Dh's truck. I think they hate working on it --- it must be difficult to get around and under things.

We're back home from the funeral. The wake yesterday was lovely and well attended. Each family had a photo board on an easel, and another photo board totally of Millie's life. The slide show I put together ended up having 173 pictures and we were able to project it in a couple rooms.
This morning 4 of us filled over 100 balloons with helium and tied them to twine, and then made "bouquets" of 10-15 balloons per bouquet and set them across the front of the church in place of flower displays. I counted 50 people just in the family section of the chapel, probably another 50 in the pews behind us. Following the service everyone came forward and got a balloon and wrote a message on it with a sharpie. We gathered together on the church lawn and on signal released them all at once. Not the best ecological idea but it's what Lew's sisters wanted to do. Maybe a robin will use the twine in building a nest.
Lew has been searching the internet for years for a childhood friend who used to live by him. His family has since left the area. This morning he came up to me beaming with a man at his side, Billy had come to the funeral, and would you believe he lives 3 miles away from our home? Surprising how many people considered Millie their second mom. One even came from Texas to attend the funeral.
It was wonderful to see family and friends that we haven't seen in years, but so difficult to see so much sadness. I hate how my eyes are so tired and burn after being filled with so many tears.
Good to be home.

Good day today --- not too toasty outside. I'm ready for my day off though. We went to the center and did our walk and work-out. Felt good, but I was glad to get done. Had several stops in between as usual, and dropping off and picking up Dh at work. Hopefully, his truck transmission will be started tomorrow. Shouldn't be a REAL long job, but is one where the mechanic really doesn't know till it comes apart -- just what he will have to do -- how many replacements parts etc.
We are going to watch some movies tonight. I am ready for some relaxation. Sound like I've done so much and I haven't really, but I wanted to sleep longer than I did this morning. So, started out tired --- was hoping for a nap this afternoon, but as is my usual --- I'm not much of a day time napper.
Hope you are all having a good day. Hope no rain coming down. More for us will come tomorrow.

Hi, everyone. We arrived at Pine Hollow Resort yesterday and are set up in our spot. The grounds look wonderful. Our next door neighbor loves flowers and she has flowers planted all over the place. She and her male partner are nice people. We have enjoyed visiting with them and this afternoon they invited us to go out on the lake with them on their large and comfortable pontoon boat.
It is warm today but comfortable. We have windows and the door open letting the fresh air inside. Sounds silly to leave your home for three months just to enjoy a better summer climate but that's what we do!
Now I'd better get moving and see about doing some cooking for our dinner.
It's good to have internet again! Something else to be thankful for, Jackie!

Carole, Leaving for 3 months for a better summer climate doesn't sound silly at all to me. Wish we could have done that when we lived in Houston. Hot with high humidity is not fun. Glad you arrived safely.

Morning everyone,
Blondie --- I'm with you and Wren. I think being able to leave my climate for a better one would be fabulous. Many people here escape the winters by going to Texas. It is close enough to get you into some winter warmth and there were a number of 'retirees' here who maintained the practice on a yearly basis. At first, I found that sort of strange -- but then I was gone ( the last 25 yrs. spent in southern California ) from my hometown for about 35 yrs. After just coming home again --- leaving for ANY reason didn't make sense. Now that I have about 19 yrs. in here at home --- I can see why. Though I am pretty much used to it --- it can get very hot and muggy here in the later summer months --- July and Aug. usually being fairly bad --- and if life was a bit different for me --- I might think of escaping the summer months here.
Since I still need to work --- and have animals needing lots of attention --- going elsewhere isn't in the cards. We are awaiting rain. It sounds like it could be almost a sure thing. Then --- perhaps for the next week after. So strange this yr. The month of Apr. much dryer than normal --- gave way to the long days of rain we normally get then and they haven't much let up. Seems like July may be wanting to start out as Apr. too --- we shall see.
Otherwise nothing much going on here. Just hoping for a quiet day. We will go to the gym. I'm thinking ( since I don't use it all that much ) of only renewing my walking pass at the gym. I've enjoyed being able to work out on the gym equipment, but if I put my mind to it --- I think I could do as much at home as I do there and save the extra $20.00 per month it costs to include use of the gym room.
Hard to believe that we are almost into July. The summertime so far seems to be rushing itself. Well, we will have one less tree, and the nuts ( hickory ) coming from it and that is not a bad thing. They were always messy and could when falling so far down make dents in your car and really give you a whack if you were under one when it came down. I won't miss cleaning up all the debris from the tree but it still looks rather odd out there. A fair amt. of sun will find its way into our yard in that spot. I'm hoping we don't lose too much more for trees. If I had a huge amt. of fill dirt --- I'd seriously think ( we have a friend who'd likely do it as he loves to take down trees ) of thinning out the trees we have that are far too close together and then even out a lot of our hilly yard. That is one of those -- if we win the lottery projects, I lthink.

Puffin, we really like Detroit Lakes. Would it be ok if dh and I both met you for lunch? Any one of those days would be good since we have no schedule. You name the day and the restaurant.
We biked today from Park Rapids to the village of Dorset and then back to Park Rapids. The round trip was 12 miles which is easy with our bikes. We like to work up to longer distances. The weather was perfect for biking, low 70's. Knock on wood, we haven't needed the a/c since last Saturday in Bowling Green, MO.
Hope everyone is doing well. Blondie, when is the trip to FL?

bonnets -- congratulations to you and hubby. Later this month Dh and I will celebrate 40. I have only spent 20 yrs. of my life as a single person. Seems sort of incredible when looked at that way. Hope you and GG too had a wonderful, wonderful day.

GG, the purse is pretty and it is always nice when the kindle or tablets fit into them.
Went to dr. yesterday for a sore knee and fingers going numb. Ended with a brace for right hand for carpal tunnel and need an MRI on knee to see if I tore something. She doesnt think it is the arithis in my knee this time.
Yesterday was a nice day here but rained last night. Today is suppose to be nice and in the 70's. I can handle that. We have only used the AC a few times this summer.
We have nothing planned for this holiday weekend. Should be a quiet weekend for us. Last weekend we went to see Jimmy Buffet concert on Saturday and then our youngest GD was baptized so we had a party for that combined with her first birthday. It was a fun weekend but quiet ones are great also. Our house is for sale now and we have had people viewing it. It is time to downsize but bittersweet since we have lived here for almost 39 years. Have to get ready for work now.

Puffin, when we're in Detroit Lakes, which the locals call DL, we usually eat at Main Street Café. For such a nice town with quite a few tourists, there aren't many restaurants. I'll look online and why don't you do the same. Friday works for us.
I slept until just a few minutes ago, almost 8 am. I got up and put on my shorts and then changed to long pants. It's in the low 60's this morning.
So far we don't have our satellite tv reception working. The DISH employee said it will be a week and a half before they can get around to us. DH tried to set up the dish on top of our trailer yesterday but we didn't have any luck. I don't miss tv except for the news and weather. We get some news and the local weather on a local radio station.
The plan for today is to play golf at 3:30 pm.
Termite, good luck in selling your house for a good price. I can relate to the mixed feelings. We've been in our current house more than 20 years.

Carole, so glad you made it safely and are all settled in to your summer home. We do exactly the same thing in the winter as we hate the cold, snow, and ice. I think it's great that you can do it during the summer! Have a great golf game!

My kids are here for the holiday and then they are leaving my 11 year old grandson for his special week! We will have a good time, I'm sure as we like to do many of the same things!

Hi all, well today is day 13 of my 3rd cycle of oral chemo. The soles of my feet are sore, but still able to walk. Will take my two doses tomorrow and then be off for 7 days. Will have blood work and at CT on July 9th and see the ONC on the 10th. Hope it is working. I get up in the morning and feel pretty good, but then about an hour and a half after taking Med I am very fatigued. Can not get much done.

Morning ladies, Beautiful day here Sunny and only 58. Any day it's not raining lately is a good one!
Had my CT Monday and saw my Pulmonologist yesterday The Embolism is gone and I'm off Coumadin. Yay. Cured the tachy cardia by going caffeine free, now if the gluten free diet helps the IBS I'll be a happy camper.
Momarch, hope this chemo is easy to tolerate. I know how varied chemo SE's can be.
Termite, hope the knee doesn't get too bad. My knee arthritis got worse after my fall before our cruise this spring. I do find cushioned shoes help some.

Yay bonnets, let the Coumadin be gone !!!! Had a person I cared for and it was always yucky to be going to the hospital all the time for the blood tests for levels. After a while, it seemed to be such a drag --- always having to fit in that hospital visit. I'm glad you don't have to take that any more. Hope some of the other things continue to resolve well for you.
I'll be working tomorrow night, but not too long. Okay with me. We don't do much on the 4th. of July anyway. We I think have spent yrs. learning how to be content not doing all the things we could. Sometimes, just doing what you really, really want too is the best thing. In a small town with not too much happening -- we are ok with letting the younger crowd get in on ALL the things we once seemed to have had to do -- it is their turn, and now and then for old times sake -- we might turn up.
Having sun today -- but the weather report is possibility of showers. The rain just seems to keep on coming. If we don't get too much humidity out of it.....I can be all right I guess. There has been more than enough sun lately ( even when it rains part of the time ) to keep me from sinking too bad.
Sorry to hear you are still plagued with that ole' fatigue Mommarch. Still, if you can keep the other se's at bay maybe it is a small price to pay. Glad you will be off for the 4th. of July and can feel up to anything you might usually enjoy this time of yr.
