OOOhhh loved them ALL!!! Love the rhodies and azaleas Sas - my favorites. Wonderful posts made me smile and laugh.. (((hugs))) thank you everybody! All the talk about vegemite makes me wonder.. eww. Of course when I lived in student housing (in a house in Neuchatel Suisse, built in 1689, tiny rooms and shared bathrooms, group meals) I got some pretty hard stares when I broke down and bought peanut butter. I took it to the breakfast table and offered to let others try it. They were like "nut paste?" on bread... for breakfast?? Brown gooey gross nut paste... they just stared in disbelief. I was over joyed to have found a small crazy expensive jar of skippy! No takers. More for me. Winking Food is definitely a cultural thing.

    Love the posts and smiles!

Rosevalley - you're so right! I live in NZ now and my husband (and the cat) loves Vegemite. Ick. And it gives the cat gas. The mayo here is sweet..nasty stuff. And the peanut butter has no flavour, but in the American foods section of the grocery store they have Reese's peanut butter. Not peanut butter cups - peanut butter! It's amazing. The funny part about the American foods section is that it's all junk food, with the Reese's peanut butter being the most healthy option. S'Mores pop tarts, cherry 7-up, A&W root beer, candy galore, and Reese's peanut butter. I did find some Mrs Butterworth's syrup there one day and bought it..guilty pleasure. But food here is a lot more different than I thought it would be. It's good, but quite different.

    Hugs to all,

    Terre

Chevy that was such a lucky kitten to be found by you and DD.

Rosevalley you are so right about food being cultural. DH is from NC so naturally P&J sandwiches, iced tea, Reese's Cups etc seem yum - I don't even like the smell of peanut butter and the first time someone gave me an iced tea (in FL) I thought I'd been given a bucket to drink from .... thought I would never be able to drink something that enormous (still brings me out in a sweat just thinking of it!) however DD got the peanut butter gene so at least he has some company

That looks like a block of butter? You don't like ice tea? Do you like iced anything? The fast food joints even have sweet tea now, but no tea bags.

I put that little piece of glass in the topic box b/c I haven't identified it yet. I gave it to Loverly. But I still want to keep looking for the name and maker. I'm OCD. It's living in California now, but I still need to know.

Hahahaha....love those. Tea? No, it's in the brownies. And the firefighters...pizza! :)

Feline - no iced tea here and I miss it so I make my own. But I don't like sweet tea - strictly a northern girl at heart. :) (Sweet tea is a southern US thing.)

I had friends come over from the US and tour NZ. We met at the start of their trip and I warned them gently about the mayo but they kind of didn't take the hint. They stopped by at the end of the trip and the sweet kindergarten teacher who never swears or raises her voice said to me, "What the f**k did they do to the mayonnaise over here? It's VILE!"

    Hugs to all,

    Terre
