And don't ever think that cancelling out a Sprint account, and taking back the phone will be easy! After 4 phone calls, and taking my old phone back to a store, I had to call one last time, to make sure this service was CANCELLED! You just get so FRUSTRATED!
But I LOVE my new Android from Motorola... Getting used to it... and you can TALK into it, instead of TEXTING!!! I love that!
Been working in the garage.... What a MESS it gets to be... It's a garage, but a storage garage for us... The only car that would fit in there is one of those match-box series cars. Got so much STUFF in there, but it is getting organized again!

A judge was interviewing a South Carolina woman regarding her pending divorce and asks, "What are the grounds for your divorce?" "About four acres and a nice little home in the middle of the property with a stream running by."
"No," he said, "I mean what is the foundation of this case?"
"It is made of concrete, brick, and mortar," she responded.
"I mean," he continued, "what are your relations like?"
"I have an aunt and uncle and 12 cousins living here in town, as well as my husband's parents."
The judge took a deep breath and asked, "Do you have a real grudge?"
"No, we have a two-car carport and have never really needed one cuz we don't have a car."
"Please," he tried again, "is there any infidelity in your marriage?"
"Yes, both my son and daughter have stereo sets. We don't necessarily like the music - all that hip hop and rap tap - but we can't seem to do anything about it."
"Ma'am, does your husband ever beat you up?"
"Yes, he gets up every morning before I do and makes the coffee."
The judge asked, "Is your husband a different race?"
"Oh, hell no, he's as white as you and me!"
Finally, in frustration, the judge asked, "Lady, why in hell do you want a divorce?
"Oh, I don't want a divorce," she replied. "I've never wanted a divorce, my husband does. The damn fool says he can't communicate with me."

Had to respond, can't believe it, couldn't start my keyless Mitsi yesterday. This is the third time for the same thing. Hate these keyless wonders. Today called their roadside assist, it only took an hour to get here. I did not charge the battery this time, had to jump it to get it on the flat bed, but figured they shud see it as it is, DEAD! Both previous times they cud find nothing wrong. Told them I don't want to hear it this time, SOMETHING IS WRONG! We are contemplating getting rid of it, and it only has 18, 000 miles, even though it is a 2011. We take hubby's truck most of the time, but I shudn't have to start it every week! I just drove it Thursday, and the battery is new replaced 2 months ago when this happened the last time. Keep me posted on your saga. I'll let you know what happens with mine.
I was a Chicago girl, lived on the South side. Afraid to venture there now! Mom was from Wilmette and I took my nursing in Evanston, at Evanston Hospital. Hearing those places mentioned always brings back memories.

OMG --- I hope I always remember ( though I'm hoping this car a 2011 Chevy Equinox LX, will last the rest of my driving days, not to get a keyless car. Or, maybe by then they will have figured out a far better answer than having to have your car owed to a dealership to get it opened. I am incredulous.
Bonnets, since your problem is nearly the same -- I have the same feeling ( about keyless features ) for after you ARE inside the car. SOMETHING is wrong if the computer can't tell the car it has to start now that the key has been inserted into the ignition. I guess it is just me because there are in fact a few parts I like where the computer is concerned, but overall, the older cars were I think far less frustrating. I so loved the old Volvo I once had. It had this really long gear shifter coming up from the floor --- but the really nice part was that when you raised the hood and looked in to the motor --- you could see ground down below everywhere you looked. Progress is great a lot of the time, but it always feel odd to me to look at a car with the hood up and not see even a half inch of ground.
Got my fingers crossed. Anyway, got to go feed Dh who is just home from work.

I am 59, with BRCA 2. I did a risk reducing mastectomy with diep flap reconstruction 2 weeks before my 59th birthday. On one side they had to do free tram.
I am 5 months out. For various reasons, I suspect the breast surgeon who did the mastectomy was a little sloppy. He has moved to another facility in FL. I will find a different breast surgeon and ask if any tests can be done to see if he left behind too much breast tissue. I did nipple sparing and lost some pigment on the right. My sister also has brca. She did the same surgery at a different facility and they found dcis stage 0 in one of her breasts.
We feel blessed to have found this out. Unfortunately, my daughter got tested and she also has brca. She will do surveillance for now. Such a curse this is.

Went online to find out how to deal with the problem, and thought maybe both fob batteries were dead. Nope--but the little release lever on them pulls out an emergency key for getting into the car (yes, there’s a keyhole lock after all). So I was able to open the door, but there’s no corresponding keyhole for starting the engine manually. Everything in the car was deader than Jacob (or Bob) Marley. After FOUR hours, the tow guy arrived. He was able to pop the hood & jump the battery, but it wouldn’t hold a charge. (It has just under 19K miles, is a 2014 Outback, fully loaded, that we bought in 2 yrs ago this week, as a lease return--the orig. lessor put 5K miles on it before being transferred to Europe--so we actually put only 14K miles on it). By the time he drove it onto the flatbed, the dealership was closed, so no loaner (and the only rental agencies open that late were at O’Hare or Midway). He drove it up to the dealership and left the keys in the dropbox. I will call in the morning--it’ll need at least a new battery, if not a new contacts/circuit board cover (the tow guy said if the fuses had been stolen it couldn’t even have been jumped). If it has to remain overnight, then my housekeeper will take me up there to get the loaner; if it can all be done tomorrow, she’ll drive me up there to pick it back up (in which case it’ll likely be late in the day and I probably will have to miss the LE presentation--and my support group friends will have to make their own way up to Glenview).
So I made lemonade out of lemons--walked to CVS to pick up my Benicar refill, then to Whole Foods for some fresh Copper River salmon and edamame/spinach salad. Fired up the grill and ate & drank on the deck till the bugs began to hover around the porchlight.

Sandy, Haven't heard from my dealership. Tow guy dropped it off yesterday morning. Last time they had it for 2 days and said they cudn't find anything wrong with it. Battery in mine is new from 2 months ago when this happened before. This time We didnt even try to charge it, so they cud see it dead! An outback sport with 17,000 miles on it. See if they call me today. Don't tell me they cant find anything wrong with it!

NOBODY from the dealership has called me today, on either my landline or cell! I just called and was told “Service is busy, can you leave your number and we’ll get back to you?” I asked how busy, and they replied “we have cars lined up out the door, and it’s lunch hour.” I told them that my car's been there since last night so I am actually at the head of the line and they’d better jump me ahead. “We’ll get back to you as soon as possible,” the operator replied. REALLY??? They haven’t even checked the drop-box and paperwork????!!! Obviously, the car won’t be finished today. I need a loaner (and my service plan includes it) NOW. If I don’t hear from them by 2pm I’m just going up there and parking myself at the service desk (while my ride parks in the lot) and demanding an answer....and a loaner. This is the first time their service has been anything but stellar (and yesterday, their operator was so sullen and surly she acted like I was asking her to fix the car herself when I asked to be transferred to sales (to whom the service guy yesterday afternoon promised to instruct them to hold a loaner for me should I arrive after service was closed). They recently finished their expansion (to double their previous size), so I guess their britches are no longer big enough.....
I am about to play the senior-citizen and cancer cards--a last resort, but at least it got me a tow truck before midnight.

Well, I guess it’s really a Mercury-retrograde kinda week. About 2:30 pm I managed to get ahold of a service tech, and he said that the dropbox was empty but he would walk the lot to find the car and get back to me. I had visions of it having been dropped off on the street (that part of Skokie doesn’t have street parking) and towed away by the police, or even tag-teamed and stolen (via jumpstart and hotwire). While I was waiting for him to call me back, I called (on my cell) the towing co. The operator spoke to the driver from last night, and hey took photos of the car: one as he was leaving my garage, one of it on the flatbed and one of it dropped off at the service bay door at the dealership. I called the service dept. back and they put me on hold. Then I got the call-waiting beep--the service tech had found my car.....going through the car wash, because it had been attended to this morning. It WAS a dead battery, so they gave me a new one; and they found the fuse panel cover beneath my seat and reinstalled it. Cost? Zero. They said that even if a dome light had been left on all night, a 3-yr-old battery shouldn’t have become so thoroughly depleted that it wouldn’t hold a charge--so they considered it defective and replaced it under my 5-yr warranty. The tow was free too.
So I have removed Subaru Roadside Assistance, Evanston Subaru, and North Shore Towing from my “fecal scroll."

Sandy , dont be surprised if it happens again. That's what they told me last time, the battery was dead, of course it was, and this battery is only, at the most 2 months old. LAst time it was a less than a year old one, that was replaced the first time the car died!

I love my keyless Prius and am so spoiled with just pushing a button to start the engine that occasionally I forget to put the key in my purse! The mileage is almost to 10,000 miles. It sat in the car port and was never started for three months last summer. When we returned home, it started right away with no problem. I hope that reliability continues. I also enjoy the Bluetooth feature, the built-in GPS, and back up camera.
We have had two long and safe days of travel and are in Mason City, Iowa, tonight. DH downloaded an interesting crime novel on his I-Phone and we have been listening to it the same way you would listen to an audio book. We keep the phone hooked up to a car charger to prevent using up the battery. It makes the time pass to listen to an interesting book. We should hear the conclusion tomorrow.
I just finished a really fascinating novel by Jonathan Kellerman on my Kindle. The title is The Murderer's Daughter.
We hope to arrive at our MN destination tomorrow.

I am checking in - have not been to BCO since April, I found out when I looked back.
I have read a lot here and seen some nice photos and heard some hopeful stories.I hope to be able to post more regularly. Work is grueling for the next 4 weeks, followed by about 7 weeks off.
So glad so many are here....and will try to stay in touch.

Crossing my fingers as usual since my car is " sorta new" or at the least new to me. Of course, things happen because they happen so not a good predictor. Well, I have to admit one could walk anywhere in the little town where I live ( though at times it could be a long walk ) and I don't leave town much at all and when I do I'm usually with someone else ( two heads are better than one usually ) so should something not be quite right --- it sounds like it would not have such a negative effect on me here. In fact the owner of the dealership where I purchased the car only lives less then a block from me. I'm sure she would give me a hand with whatever I needed.
Joan, I have been thinking about you though didn't do a thing --- but mention the last few entries that all who post here spend time in my mind as I hope for good things for each and every one. I'll be glad when you can post more often. I miss your inspiration outlook.
Carole, what a great way to pass the time driving. You likely keep to a standard route pretty much where you have 'seen' everything along the way several times. Excellent idea. I hope you won't be affected in your travels today with the bad weather in Illinois. Didn't catch exactly where it was headed after it left our area here. Still, even if slightly delayed, you will be moving into the cooler nicer summer weather that suits you both. Safe travels.

hi all- haven't been on in a few weeks- find that I am depressed- spoke to therapists and although I can intellectualize the reasons why I'm depressed and why I have reasons to be happy just can't shake this feeling- I'm on Arimidex and grateful for this "insurance" policy but really feeling down- I exercise daily and have wonderful friends but just keep crying- what do you ladies do to help yourselves

Nanagirl - sounds a bit like PTSD - post-traumatic stress disorder. Not unusual after BC treatment. Have you talked to your doc about counseling?

Nanagirl, Sometimes a month or two of an anti-depressant can make the world look better again. Have you gotten through the anger phase? Sometimes depression is really anger underneath. After all, you've looked after your body for years, and then had it turn on you.

I celebrated my 2 year anniversary of my breast cancer diagnosis this week, had a clean mammogram and was told by my surgeon that I'd graduated and didn't have to see him any more.

Good morning,
It was a bit of a wild day yesterday. After work I had a lot of errands and the rain chose a part of the latter time period to really come down. Yes, I did ( even though I know its silly ) worry about my car and getting it wet inside. Fortunately I had purchased a blanket for the back interior so was able to fit all my purchases in there and keep the rest of the car dry.
Sometimes I am so glad for some of my "problems" which are not much of a problem at all. I'm saying an extra prayer and sending positive energies for all those who have major things to deal with right now and in the future. We will have some more rain today -- already had some this a.m. and likely more will come this afternoon. Well, we just have to keep going I think.
Puffin, what great news for you. These are some of the positive ( make you feel good right down to your toes as you breathe a sigh of relief ) aspects of getting through treatment -- and always nice when a Dr. says -- you don't need me anymore.

There's nothing like a walk in the forest to clear my mind and get my spirit to calm down and slow down. Any time I get away from the mass of people and find a quiet, solitary spot in nature, be it in the middle of the desert, in the forest, on a beach, or even along a lonely country road, I feel myself being refreshed, revived, renewed. It's a wonderful feeling that I don't search out nearly enough.

Sandy, Kept getting you don't drive it enough, needs a new battery, after 2 months for this battery! Decided to look for a new car, started at Chevy and we blth like a key driven Trax. Traded the cruise on Chesapeake Bay that we had to cancel, due to DH kidneystone , for a new car. They brought the old one over from the Mitsubisi dealership and we drove home in the new car. Never drove any car after I retired 6 years ago, any more often , and never had a problem with any other. Hopefully this one will work out. They had it a week, no loaner, only rentals!
Hot and steamy here, no plans, tomorrow supposed to get storm Bonnie and a lot of rain. Dh kidney stone must hopefully have past, now its just his back problems. Getting old is such fun!

Be careful for you ask for! I asked for cool and we have cool. But we've also had some light rain and rather dismal conditions the last two days up here in northern MN. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and nice. Maybe we'll get our boat in the water. It's still covered in the winter protective plastic. DH has to test out the outboard motor and make sure it is working.
Congratulations, Puffin. I will be in touch during the summer. DH and I are hoping to make a trip to Fargo and take you to lunch.

My brother's wife died this morning. She'd was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer a year after Craig died, battled hard, recently stopped chemo and it spread like wildfire. Two weeks ago the doctor told her she had less than 6 months, yesterday she was comatose and gone this morning. The funeral is tentatively set for Thursday. I'll drive to Burnsville Wednesday and Dad and I will drive to Wisconsin Thursday. I don't know that I have the strength for another funeral so soon. Mom died, Craig died, breast cancer, Lew died, and now Julie. It's just all so much.
