The Tiffany talk made me do a little deep dive into what’s going on with her. She has no wedding date set but is engaged to Michael Boulos, a Nigerian-American billionaire heir and business executive whose family owns Boulos Enterprises and SCOA Nigeria in Nigeria. Her engagement ring cost $1.2 million. They got engaged about the same time her dad left office. Reports say she hasn’t been seen with her half siblings—the big 3–since then. Imo, they probably tolerate her when her presence is needed to paint the picture of family bliss but drop the act as soon as the cameras are gone. According to Wikipedia, Tiffany remained with Georgetown Law after graduating in 2020, and is currently a research assistant for professor Shon Hopwood.

It’s been said that since Tiffany isn’t your classic beauty, her father looks down on her. No surprise. The greater the beauty, the greater the value he places on women. To him, a woman’s worth rests only in her attractiveness. Also, I don’t think he and Marla Maples have any relationship whatosever, whereas former wife Ivana claimed what a great president he would make. And Marla raised Tiffany on the west coast, keeping her more separate from the NYC side of the fam.

It’s thought that Tiffany might have two wedding ceremonies, one in Greece and one in the U.S. This would probably solve the matter of having both parents at her wedding; maybe Marla would go to Greece while Tiffany’s dad’s side of the family would attend the U.S. one. Who knows.

I’m sure she was given direct orders to speak at the RNC in 2020. I read a report that attending Georgetown exposed her to a fair amount of liberal influence and she may not lean so strongly in the rest of the fam’s political direction. But, imo, she keeps her peace since she doesn’t want to jeopardize her inheritance.

The above are three of my favorite people and it was a thrill to see them all together at once. I've always wondered ( because he is a really cool character ) just what former Pres. Obama thought as he worked towards handing over the reins of the presidency to Trump. Of course, he had no choice and did everything very warmly and graciously along with our former first lady, Michele.

It is still so hard to believe we had the heathen spawn for four torturous yrs. and that some Reps. would have been thrilled to have had him again. Well, it might have been the one time I might have wanted Jim Jones Kool-Aid recipe.

Anyway, the above represents to me the cream of the crop.

I've seen so many smiles today after Judge Jackson's vote. Of course, even knowing it would happen wasn't complete preparation for the rush of feeling. I hope because she is first a lady, and second one that has so much decorum, and flat out dignity that some of the others, whether they know it or not, work just a little harder, kinder, and much more thoughtfully about how they frame their decisions. It would be nice to feel that a little more partisan goes away and judgements are made on the basis not of party, but what is right and honorable, and fair to all.

    From Huffington Post:

For nearly a full minute, Democratic senators and people sitting in the Senate balcony stood up and cheered for Ketanji Brown Jackson's historic confirmation to the Supreme Court on Thursday.

But as the camera panned around the room, there was a lone Republican senator standing there clapping, too: Mitt Romney of Utah.

Romney was one of three GOP senators who had voted moments earlier to confirm Jackson, along with Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Susan Collins (Maine). He appeared to be the only Republican, though, who made a point to stay behind and celebrate Jackson's confirmation.

Romney's support for Jackson was a surprise. In June, unlike Murkowski and Collins, he voted against confirming her to her seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

The Utah senator told reporters Tuesday that he decided to vote for Jackson this time because the more he got to know about her, the more he came to believe she would be a solid, fair-minded justice.

"In her previous confirmation vote, I had concerns about whether or not she was in the mainstream," Romney said. "And having spent time with her personally and reviewing her testimony before Congress, [I] became convinced that she is in the mainstream."

Simply give others a bit of yourself; a thoughtful act, a helpful
idea, a word of appreciation, a lift over a rough spot, a sense
of understanding, a timely suggestion. You take something
out of your mind, garnished in kindness out of your heart,
and put it into the other person's mind and heart.

Come June when she will be sworn in. Glad you put in that piece Ruth. I was hearing something on t.v. and just so happened there was a lot of noise going on in the house and I knew it was something about Romney, but didn't know what. I'm glad he is using the spine the Good Lord gave him and I won't question it now -- and just be glad for it.

While they may not have voted for her, I do think there were other Reps. who KNEW she was highly qualified and they didn't clap either. Until we are totally rid of the Loon some things are still not vocalized or done. No surprise there. Think Repugnicans leaving en masse during confirmation hearing was a disgrace and smacks of not only elitism but racism. Was it because she was female or because she was black? Anyhow, shame on them since I do not remember the Democrats ever leaving a confirmation hearing en masse during hearings for Kavanagh or Coney Barrett though perhaps in retrospect they should have? Bravo to Collins, Murkowski and Romney for exercising their right to make a choice based on the individual's merits. Shame on no balls Toomey for not voting to confirm her and this is no surprise since he has been a blind party follower for most of his miserable representation of PA. He will not be missed when he retires.

Only one person in a thousand knows the trick of really living in the present. Most of us spend fifty-nine minutes an hour living in the past, with regret for lost joys or shame for things badly done (both utterly useless and weakening) or in a future which we either long for or dread. . . . There is only one minute in which you are alive, this minute, here and now. The only way to live is by accepting each minute as an unrepeatable miracle. Which is exactly what it is—a miracle and unrepeatable.

Glad for the week-end and may it be a sunny one. We are treated to a larger amt. of 'stale' news, but for the few new instances, we still put it on. So, it has finally been leaked that Jr. Loon a couple of days before election vote counting was done, ( 2020 ) was already getting Meadows into the plan to keep the old Loon in the White House.

None of what I hear actually sounds all that new. I think in part it is because people like myself and so many others here, recognized from the get-go that the Loon was an evil entity who would do nothing good for the United States citizens or the world at large. Painful to have to sit back knowing we would be stuck with one of the most inferior humans that ever lived. So these things that are leaked ( on purpose ) usually don't feel all that new, though often interesting. What I find of much more interest actually is that we have heard ( Adam Schiff ) that once the 1/6 televised hearings start we are going to get not only a lg. share of bomb shells, but also these items will come with definite proof. It is one of the best reasons why it needs to come before the '22 elections. I do think it possible that if it turns out to be as deep, sweeping, and provable, that it will have the effect of giving a lot of energy to Democratic voters.

Polls, and disinformation from the right and all the barbs coming from there tend to make the Democratic side seem and sound a losing side. I don't believe it necessarily true, but I do worry that it could be close. So -- hoping in all that comes that we can widen the gap substantially -- get rid of some of the worst from the other side, and be in a position to really get some things done to stabilize our government. We need to find ways to get people to see Pres. Biden's successes. Too much disinformation making him sound not as competent as he is being.

Love the above memes especially the one praising Joe. In speaking to my genealogy cousin learned that she is a rabid follower of the loon and was initially distressed when she told me she felt he was "misunderstood". Then she topped it with how the news about him is "all wrong". So we have reached a truce and agreed to not discuss politics at all. She appears to be steeped in the false theories and felt what he was doing to the immigrants "was the best thing of his presidency". Bit my tongue because we are all descendants of immigrants unless we are Native Americans and we all came here to escape religious persecution, famine, war or poverty. Changed the topic of discussion and will tuck that away for now but it is so distressing to know how misguided and misinformed she is.

The more authentic you become, the more genuine in your expression, particularly regarding personal experiences and even self-doubts, the more people can relate to your expression and the safer it makes them feel to express themselves. That expression in turn feeds back on the other person's spirit, and genuine creative empathy takes place, producing new insights and learnings.

I haven't heard any numbers on the Loon's latest rally, but those preceding said not so many people were turning up. The Loon will keep going though. It his way to validate himself and to keep making the point of "The Big Lie". Also, as long as he makes a few appearances he can keep on grifting. Money is everything to him -- and he feels it is what gives him what he doesn't have, but it really doesn't. Just like his lies -- he cannot produce decency from his mental disabilities and con man lies. He just gets furthur away

Jan. 6 panel has enough evidence to refer Trump for criminal charges, Cheney says

"It's definitely clear that what President Trump was doing. What a number of people around him were doing. That they knew it was unlawful. They did it anyway," said the vice chair of the committee.Former President Donald Trump speaks at a rally on April 9, 2022, in Selma, N.C.Former President Donald Trump speaks at a rally on April 9, 2022, in Selma, N.C.Allison Joyce / Getty ImagesLink copied

    By Christina Zhao

The House panel investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol has enough evidence to refer President Donald Trump for criminal charges, Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., said Sunday.

"It's definitely clear that what President Trump was doing. What a number of people around him were doing. That they knew it was unlawful. They did it anyway," Cheney, the vice chair and one of two Republicans on the committee, said on CNN's "State of the Union" when asked by host Jake Tapper if they had enough evidence to make a criminal referral for the former president. Cheney added that the panel has not made a decision on moving forward with the referral.

Her remarks came after the New York Times reported that the committee has concluded that they have enough evidence to make a criminal referral but its leaders were split over whether to do so.

"I think what we have seen is a massive and well organized and well-planned effort that used multiple tools to try to overturn an election," Cheney said. The committee has "got a tremendous amount of testimony and documents that I think very, very clearly demonstrate the extent of the planning and the organization and the objective."

Cheney added, "The objective was absolutely to try to stop the kind of electoral votes, to try to interfere with that official proceeding. And it's absolutely clear that they knew what they were doing was wrong."

She referred to a ruling over a civil suit involving the committee last month, in which a federal judge found that based on evidence, Trump likely "attempted to obstruct the joint session of Congress" on the day of the attack, which would be a crime.

"The illegality of the plan was obvious," U.S. District Judge David Carter wrote of Trump and lawyer John Eastman's plan to have then-Vice President Mike Pence determine the results of the 2020 election. "Every American — and certainly the president of the United States — knows that in a democracy, leaders are elected, not installed. With a plan this 'BOLD,' President Trump knowingly tried to subvert this fundamental principle."

The Jan. 6 panel made similar allegations in a court filing in the case last month, saying it had "good-faith basis for concluding that the President and members of his Campaign engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States."

Trump has not been charged with a crime and has denied any wrongdoing

Yeah, cardplayer and I did read that it was thought McConnell has something wrong with him perhaps. The article said he shouldn't even ( no value for him personally or the Reps ) have given the interview where he said that. I don't doubt that. I think a lot of the Reps. are off with the way the whole insurrection has played out. Even though the Loon is not nearly so commanding as he was the months right after 1/6, I think not only are the leaks from 1/6 getting to Moscow Mitch, but the fact that the Loon would rather still take vengeance on the RINO's who he feels have been un-loyal and un-trustworthy towards him and is supporting what should end up being super losers, but hasn't spread any funds around to those considered to have a possible fair chance at getting or keeping a Reps. seat

That said, nothing will be handed to us and there is a lot of work to do before election time. I do hope 1/6 hearings will begin and give us more weight along with wishing we could message better to highlight Pres. Biden's accomplishments since he took office.

illinoislady - I just hope the Dems don’t fight among themselves as they often do and get behind the good that Biden had done for the country. They have an opportunity to win at the mid-terms and prove that the orange man is loosing his clout in the GOP.
