My niece finished the race in three hours, 24 minutes. It amazes me! The newspapers said weather conditions were “nearly ideal" and “perfect". I know she prefers temps to be on the cooler side, it's 48 degrees there now. A friend of hers was able to snap this picture of her (middle of photo in blue) at the 10k mark (6.2 miles).

It was super cool to track her on the app. The time seemed to fly by….I wasn't the one running tho! 😄
Thanks for letting me share.

The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.

Got tickled about the math books since I was just reading -- Biden's poll numbers in mid 30's. Comes from the pundits taking an outlier poll and using it rather than an average of three -- which pretty much all the rest of the pollsters ( the good ones ) do. Fox is really good at doing that. The Biden numbers are instead in the 40's. He has more than meets the eye off hand and we do need to get the " truth " of how he is REALLY doing and slam it out there every day.
Barring that -- I hope when the televised hearings start that the amt. of proof of what the "other " side was really doing will allow people to see where all the lies and mis-information tend to come into play. Time will tell I presume --- but I still would like to see a good push-back on their 'lies' and our 'truths'.

Another little take on one of my most un-favorite people. Of course, if you are a Reps. these days -- most of you have ended up in my list of most un-favorite people.

From CBS News:
The 126th Boston Marathon is particularly special, as it marks 50 years since women were first allowed to officially run the race. And back on the course this year is Val Rogosheske, one of the original eight women who helped make that happen in 1972.
Now 75 years old, according to Women's Running, Rogosheske is on another team of eight women, all running in honor of the huge milestone for women's sports.
The team is comprised of women who have made a powerful impact in their communities and the world, including Mary Ngugi, who helped found the Women's Athletic Alliance and raises awareness against domestic violence; Paralympic gold medal winner Manuela Schär; Melissa Stockwell, the first female American soldier to lose a limb in active combat; Sarah Fuller, the first woman student-athlete to suit up for an SEC football game; U.S. Women's National Soccer Team star Kristine Lilly; DACA recipient Jocelyn Rivas, the youngest Latina to ever run 100 marathons; and Verna Volker, the founder of Native Women Running.
Minnesota native Rogosheske and seven others, Nina Kuscik, Kathy Miller, Elaine Pederson, Ginny Collins, Pat Barrett Shore, Frances Morrison and Sara Mae Berman paved the road in 1972 for this team to run.
Roberta Gibb was the first woman to run the full marathon in 1966 after hiding in a bush until the race began. The next year, Katherine Switzer was the first woman to obtain a bib number after the then-men's only race did not have a gender question on the entry form. It was that race where she was famously attacked by a B.A.A. official at about 2 miles in. Despite finishing, she was disqualified.
"I hadn't met the other seven women until we gathered on the start line. So we were huddled off to the side, so excited, and knowing that eyes were on us," she told CBS Boston. "Because many women, many people, didn't think that we should be running marathons. So I think we knew that none of us were going to drop out. It was going to be do or die and we all finished."
Rogosheske finished sixth out of the women's division that year with a time of 4:29:32. The next year, she finished ninth with a time of 3:51:12, and in 1974, she finished the race in eighth place with a time of 3:09:38.
But this year, she's not going for time, and she'll be surrounded by 14,000 other women, according to the Boston Athletic Association.
"It does make me tear up sometimes," she told CBS Boston. "It is hard to imagine going from that small number. ... It just makes me feel so good to know how opportunity has expanded for women and how women are seizing the moment and taking advantage of it."
Rogosheske was also named an official starter for the professional women's division.
Also joining Rogosheske this year are her two daughters, Abigail and Allie, as well as her cousin — one family making up half the number of women originally allowed to run just a few decades prior. She said her daughters have insisted that they will run alongside her throughout the course.
Her plan of attack for the 26.2-mile journey is to run hard for 30 seconds, walk for 30 seconds, and repeat.
"My joints love it," she said.
Surrounded by thousands of women who have followed in her footsteps, Rogosheske said she hopes that even more women pursue the sport, and take the lessons of running off the road and into their daily lives.
"In the area of running, even if you think running's not for you, give it a try. Do the walk-run approach. Do something just to try it," she said. "Even beyond running, if there's something you want to do, just go for it. There's no reason you can't do it."

IIt’ hard to imagine that women couldn’t run in the Boston Marathon, participate in other sports, own assets, have titles at companies even though they did the job, etc. So proud of the women who paved the way, but there’s still a ways to go.

MATH CONCEPTS THE STATE OF FLORIDA FINDS OBJECTIONABLE
by CARLOS GREAVES
Here in the great state of Florida, we are committed to protecting our children from any and all forms of indoctrination, and math is no exception. These are the mathematical concepts we find objectionable based on the dangers they pose to children:
Calculus: We stand firmly against any field of mathematics that requires integration.
Multiplication: We believe only certain numbers should be allowed to multiply with one another.
Polygons: We reject the notion that anything can have more than one side.
Order of Operations: The mnemonic Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally is reverse racism. Nobody should have to apologize just because their relative was in the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
The Number Zero: All numbers are either positive or negative. That's just basic math.
Subtraction: It's wrong to subtract a fractional number from another number before it has become whole.
Set Theory: We oppose any concept that recognizes the "simple majority" or "plurality" of a group.
Equal Signs: We believe in equality, obviously. Just not the way they're doing it.
Prime Numbers: The only prime number the State of Florida recognizes is 17—the age at which a woman is in her prime.
Functions: We're against anything that requires getting input first before it can be executed.
Gradients: We believe all slopes are slippery.
Square Roots: No mathematical concept that encourages using radical symbols should ever be taught in schools.
Mathematical Proofs: We don't think any assertion requires "proof."
Limits of Exponential Functions: Powers should not have any limits.
Non-Binary Operations, the Transitive Property, Cis(x), and Homogeneous Spaces: You're not allowed to say any of these words in Florida.
Division: This one is OK with us.

With Tucker, that might actually be a good idea.....😝

Only one person in a thousand knows the trick of really living in the present. Most of us spend fifty-nine minutes an hour living in the past, with regret for lost joys or shame for things badly done (both utterly useless and weakening) or in a future which we either long for or dread. . . . There is only one minute in which you are alive, this minute, here and now. The only way to live is by accepting each minute as an unrepeatable miracle. Which is exactly what it is—a miracle and unrepeatable.

Ruth -- great meme.

The above are great but I think Mathematical proofs is the hallmark motto of the repugnicans.
I would recommend all repugnican males submit to Tucker's Testicle Tanning. It would diminish the number of male repugnican voters in the future. Plus it seems to be a "Mathematical proof". What a moron! How can people listen to him let alone believe him?

To All: with all the glitches and crashes I haven't checked this thread for ages. I have to go back even farther to where I let off. I need the laughs - even if they are tinged with sorrow from the truth of them.

Passion doesn't come from business or books or even a connection with another person. It is a connection to your own life force, the world around you and the spirit that connects us all. You are the source. Books, work, music, people, sunsets all provide sparks, but only you can light the fire.

Love the memes, ladies. So, I did hear ( as usual with the news people ) two different versions of the Loon really messed up walking out of an interview with Piers Morgan. Then, today that it was 'edited' making it seem like the Loon got mad and walked out of the interview since Piers Morgan said outright -- no evidence of fraud in 2020 so you lost fiar and square.
I'm inclined more to believe the Loon was upset since his version has been "The Big Lie" from pretty much the get-go. The Loon is a downer on the Reps. and they missed their best chances at being rid of him during the two impeachments where they ultimately lost their nerve and upheld him. That is likely still good for us since even in his less potent state, many can't quite let go of the blithering idiot that the Loon always was and remains. I think he became so consumed with "The Lie" that it increased his need to be vindictive and it consumes him now to the detriment of the Reps. Most especially those who have a chance at actually winning are not endorsed and the know nothing cons and misfits are getting the Loony blessing.
Maybe some money but he is being fairly tight-fisted with funds which is just another irritation for the Reps. Had they done what they should -- they might be in far better shape by now, since the Loon has actually done some dying on the vine.0
