So far as I know -- the only person having a stupid hissy about this is Ted Cruz who is calling the peaceful protestors a MOB and that they are worse then 1/6. He was speaking to Fox News at the time. Way to go Teddy brown nose. You likely have helped cement Fox talking points now and we will likely hear a lot of this -- no matter whose house or which judge. I hope the only place it will work is with the stupidest maga people. Most others know what rights ALL here have. Pictures on tv show one of the most peaceful protests ever and THAT is all. No crazy flags, no one trying to find someone to beat and no one trying to break in etc. What an idiot ( but willing for the benefit of Fox and the MAGA's ) little Cruz is making of himself.

illinoislady,
I agree with you on not blaming the mods. I view them as tools as mouthpieces for those in charge at bco but they are not the ones making changes or decisions. They may be feeling just as powerless as many of us are.

So if birth control becomes illegal too, does that include vasectomy

Ruth - like you, I am sad to say I only log on and read a few threads in "my favorites". I no longer try to search for information. I no longer try to read new threads to help new people. Sad days.
Edited to say - Jackie, if you go to the glitches thread be prepared to read for a VERY long time.

spookiesmom - I think it’s Alabama that wants to outlaw all types of birth control. Wonder if vasectomy is included in their list of they’re only targeting womens contraception

They will ban female contraception but make sure males have ready access to, forgive my vulgarity, "penis helpers". Anything that involves enhancement of male sexual pleasure is approved by insurance companies including Medicare (including penile implants) but try to get some female products and you find they are not covered by your work health insurance.
Issue I have with pro-lifers is that they are only pro-birth and the hell with the child (and its parent) after it is born. Agree with the meme about the members of the SC that have shady backgrounds/philosophies.

Ruth, in honor of getting IMAGES back I found a meme to share. Not that it has much to do with anything going on right now -- but just because I loved the dog in the picture. It's good though.

I am so glad this has been returned. For everyone of course, but especially for you ladies here. Politics being a major stress producer for the ladies who come here -- well we really needed the IMAGES and I was really feeling everyone's pain over having lost the ability to post the images. Since it has been hard to be here, using those images gave us all some dimension and gave us a piece of something familiar to hold onto.
Now I'll keep hoping for some of the other hoped for changes.

OKAY -- I just really giggled when I saw this one because these memes get it SO right about this stuff.

No one makes me see so much red for so long. Why do we need this tortured human who can't decide if he is a Democrat or Republican.

I know in Roe v. Wade it was decided as a right to privacy issue, but abortion access is more of a religious freedom issue. (It's actually a body autonomy issue, but too many politicians don't believe women are real people with real bodies. We're just walking gestation chambers.) There are no reasons to prohibit abortion that are not founded in religious beliefs. And even those are based on ideas that were formed after the founders of said religions were long gone - the actual Holy Books say nothing about it. (Except for the Tanakh/Old Testament that states that life begins with the first breath - so abortion is not considered murder.)
Forcing a modern religious belief on all citizens, in defiance of their own religious beliefs or lack thereof, is a clear separation of church and state infraction.

I have no use for Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema. Both have been an obstacle in getting much of Biden’s agenda accomplished.

Are the pictures coming through again? I am going to give it a try!

Pictures come through and the avatars are back as well. All I wish to say is Ah.........

So this is typical of Reps. with their crazy agenda. Tom Cotton has sent a letter to the DOJ ( he knows nothing will happen ) that people should not be allowed protest at an SCJ's home. Unless they ( the Reps ) are wanting to protest -- then all bets are off. The other side is -- were that decreed the chopping block would come out for the next thing -- which is what got protestors at supreme court justices houses in the first place.

I actually skipped this piece the first read through -- but sure glad I got to it on the second one.
Analysis: The Missing Person in Alito's Draft Opinion Overturning Roe v. Wade
Less attention has been given, in discussions and analysis in the media, to the actual text of Alito's opinion, especially the heinous cultural assumptions and curiously faulty historical analysis and reasoning

In every adversity there lies the seed of an equivalent advantage. In every defeat is a lesson showing you how to win the victory next time.

Maybe we could reframe the abortion debate into a pure bodily autonomy debate. "No person shall be forced or compelled to allow their tissues and organs to be used for the sustenance and maintenance of another person's life against their wishes." It's already in line with organ donation procedures. Chisandy, how does that look at first blush?

Remains hard to believe the Reps. are running on --- lets be as destructive to Biden and Democrats as we can be, which means stealing not only elections, but also all their rights on the way out the door. I read again on the way here though not much seems to come through in the media, that women have registered in droves to vote in the next elections and that polls show those 35 and under are involved in this.
I'm really not seeing how they feel they can pull his off although I know in order to nullify it, we have to have massive voting taking place by Democrats. The Reps. as always stand poised to cheat, suppress, lie, and do whatever they deem it takes to throw us out of power. We especially need to bolster our place in the Senate. If we do that we could neuter Machin and Sinema, from being able to affect the ability we need to change many things right now that have stood in our way of changing our democracy into a much better one.
The media just keeps buttressing the Reps. but maybe its a good thing. They seem to keep making serious miscalculations about what they are doing and giving us opportunities we seemed to have lacked before these mistakes. We sure need to get our messaging much better though and hammer the Reps. un-mercifully with it.
