Faith is not something that is passive.  Our faith requires a commitment from us.  If thoughts of lack come to mind, we counteract such negativity by counting our blessings and giving thanks for the abundance of good things we have.  The ability of our bodies to heal is enhanced by our affirmations of life, which stimulate a positive response from the life within our very cells.

Temps expected mostly in the 50's for the next ten days. We have some garden plots here, and I have been working at clearing some. There was no activities person last year, so they were fallow. I don't know how management regulates frictions, except that each building is assigned a plot. Meeting sometime soon.

Controversial election today. State supreme court. Hadn't made up my mind last night, but the conservative had an ad, he said that Musk's interference was neither invited nor appreciated.

It's sunny out this morning. My plan is to clean the carport with the little power washer. Shouldn't take a long time. Will most likely go to chair yoga at 1 pm. Maybe do some cardio exercise before the class.

    Happy Tuesday to all.

Sunny morning here at last. I hope we have a nice day but I think more storms slated for tomorrow. I have a Dr.'s appt in Mt. Vernon — I hope any bad weather holds off till I get done. Dh will likely go with me. He generally hates to stay at home. It's a cardio check-up and I don't mind so much going since the NP is usually at Marion — long drive for us, and apparently there are enough cardio patients that the NP will come once a month to Mt. Vernon relieving us of having the long drive.

As is I still have to drive to Marion on this coming Thursday and then again on Monday. Once more later on in the month. Hard to schedule upcoming appts. for two at or about the same time so as not to have to make so many 'extra' jaunts. With things about to get dicey (tariffs, etc.) I think we are going to have to work harder on doing that.

Good for you Chris — clearing some garden space. If my yard had the sun, I'd be doing the same. Hope all goes well with that.

Hope you are all going to have a good day.

well bra update. They are all new one I bought has a wider band yay and my boob is happy for now. But I go braless after treatment. Left boob could care less. lol. Ugh to last minute knee extra but good for you to get an urgent appointment. I always like seeing the results too before seeing doc.

We are expecting warmer weather for the weekend. Yippee. I’ll be planting carrots which hopefully Crappy Tire ( Canadian Tire) garden section is ready for me. I have treatment #6/19 early this afternoon. Heading out for a wee walk soon as I stood on the scale this morning ack moving upwards again! Dusty, Tipper and me are out in the catio. Yay. I have east facing back yard.

Canary Cat. Warmer weather is a great bonus and sure makes taking those walks nicer — as long as it's not too hot. Love your catio. We use our 12 x 14 screen room although we did have to make some adjustments. I also love the two kitties in there — and oh, sure love the meme you left. I'm stealing that.

Took it easy this morning but decided that the task for today would be to sort through jewelry I had culled earlier. I have 3 piles: DD, DGD and to sell. It is not all costume jewelry since there are some silver chains and other pieces. Will ask DS to sell the pieces I have sorted and bagged up.

Then I decided to sort through face creams I have in bins. I made up a bin I can use for daily creams and sorted the others as to use so I can use them as I expend the ones in the daily bin I created. I sorted through the shelves in the closet in my bathroom tossing some items, organizing others and just sort of checking inventory. I have some items I need to start using up.

The next bin was the one where I store my medications after I get them from the pharmacy. I then move these to the tray I keep in the kitchen closet for stocking my weekly med dispenser. I had an empty bin after sorting through the skin care products so was able to repurpose it for my back/knee meds. Found a couple of OTC expired meds so they will be taken to CVS for disposal.

The last task was the medicine cabinet in my bathroom. It just needed to be better organized and I cleaned the mirror on the back of it and the glass shelves.

It was a sunny but cool day after the torrential rains last night. After hitting the 80's yesterday, it was only in the 50's today and it is expected to drop into the 30's overnight. I'll take the sun even if I don't go out into it.

Bumblebee is singing away to his swing and being his happy self. He sure can lift your spirits with his vocalizations.

May do some ironing tonight since I don't have much to do and I will be busy tomorrow between PT and a doctor's appointment.

Hope everyone had a great day.

Overcast and sounds like not nice weather coming in from St. Louis, Mo area which is where it so often comes from. Hopefully since I have the Dr.'s appt. in Mt. Vernon at 1:30 p.m. it will hold off till later. The weather reports indicate it will be early evening. I hope they are right.

So a lot to do in prep beforehand. Likely I will be back later, but for now wishing you all a really good day.

Owensgrandma, I have had cancer 5 or is it 6 times now. First was 2007 with 6 mos, chemo and 7 full weeks of radiation after lumpectomy (standard treatment then). Starting after a broken arm five yrs. ago I've had new primaries of ureter, bladder, (twice actually) two places on my face, and one cancer in a lung nodule. I am through all of them with a clean slate for now and I'm hoping that will be it.

I'm not making light of it, but there is a lg. tendency to cancer to return after a long spell. I am definite proof. Also not making light, but I'm also proof that new primaries can be dealt with successfully. I hope that I'm done with cancer, but no one really knows what challenges may be in store.

I do tend to have (maybe even more so) a positive attitude although the first time I was sure I was a goner. Once I got to BC. Org and realized how UN-ALONE I was and started getting help from the ladies that were here I realized that maybe if I was fortunate, it would not be lights out after-all.

I don't blame you for being nervous. Truth is, I wasn't brimming over with confidence on my second time either. I didn't think 'goner' like my first time but it was still a very 'nervy' time. I don't know if I'm any help, but I can say that finding cancers early and getting good treatment offer the strongest chance to come out with a positive result. Been there five times and done that.

Going in a bit to Mt. Vernon. Not real happy as we have a lot of wind outside so we will leave an hr. early. Hoping for the best. The truly bad weather sounds like will be much closer to suppertime. Sure would like it if we had our driver ( son-in-law) but he is working today.

Will likely drop in later to let you know how it went.

    Hi owensgrandma,

My dear friend Pat had cancer over five times. She had double mastectomy as was the practice back then. Later had skin cancer and esophageal. The worst was esophageal for her. Needless to say she fought hard five times. Each time she couldn’t understand why she survived and others didn’t! Always had a positive outlook. I miss her dearly. I wish you well with your next round. I’m currently a third of the way through radiation treatments. Wild weird times for the treatments. Today’s is at 445 and tomorrow is at 1245. I just go day at a time so I don’t forget!

The sun is trying to come out here and the kitties have their catio open today. My mom turns 87 today. She has plans for Chinese food. I did remember to call and wish her a happy bday. I’m heading out soon to buy carrot plants. They didn’t have the price on them yesterday so couldn’t sell them. Lol. We are expecting warm weather this weekend. Yahooo. I’ll be out gardening for sure.
I watched this heron with his anxious buddy hunting for food yesterday. I live quite close to the walkway so see all types of birds on my walks

Jackie, safe journey! I hope the storm hold off. I also forgot to thank you for the back story on this group. I never knew.

Betrayal, nothing keeps you sedentary. You’ve got a busy week as you prepare for your surgery.

Carole, I love our little power washer. I feel like I accomplish so much when I use it to remove mold/mildew/muck. Although, friending in the job, I know I’ll be drenched when I’m through.

Chris, I’d take your good 50’s days! Going up to 91-92 today. I haven’t taken a good walk or ride in 3 days.

    Canarycat, love that Karma bus!

Owensgrandma, I don’t know how they differentiate, but sone are nurses in the group. Hopefully they can help. We’re in your pocket as you need us. HUGS

I got out before 11 to run over and buy a bike tube. The bike shop owner said the charged air pumps sometimes pump in air too fast, but both agreed it could be a faulty pump.

Not sure I mentioned, this is the 2nd tube in about a week. My bike was making a noise as I rode into a cul de sac, but out on a straightaway it sounded fine. As I went beteeen houses on the path, it sounded funny again. So I thought I’d better stop… I didn’t get my butt off the seat when POP, the tube blew. Turns out there was a big slice in my tire too. All fixed. But DANG, 2 tubes in a week!

We’ve got an anniversary and welcome to the neighborhood party on Thursday. But I’ve got a ticket to see MJ the musical, the same night. I missed it when it was near my home in NY, partner wasn’t interested, other friends have seen it in NYC - so I bought a single ticket to go on my own. By time I get up the party they’ll be buzzing along!

Nothing much else happening. Too hot to walk or ride. Short distances cause a sweat.

I, like Betrayal, having been going through drawers purging. File folders that travel back & forth with us purged too. I haven’t done clothes yet. But it’s a thought. A fleeting thought! HA

I love to use the power washer and thankfully with the new walkway I no longer have to do that. I just have the front porch to do and might have the back one to do, I'll have to check it but it never gets as bad as the front porch. Yes, I do end up wet as well because the thing always seems to have one aberrant stream. I usually wait for a real hot day for that reason. So Carole, cindyny and I should start a business, lol.

That reminds me I want to use Dawn on the siding where the oil delivery guy got 2 rows of siding. DD reported him because he also got the driveway and she called them to come clean up that mess. They did but she said they weren't nice about it. This was a first and it better be the last or we will be looking for a new company after 40 plus years.

Today I had my next to last PT session, ran to a doctor's appointment and didn't realize it was in the local medical center. I was glad I had their phone number in my contact list. I need a torn ear lobe fixed and thought it would be both but he suggested doing just the one. If I wear larger studs you don't notice the sag in the left ear (I can use those large backers to position the stud higher), too but when I wear a dangle it is really noticeable because they are so uneven and it shows the large hole. Office appointment with 4 month heal time, so doable. I have some really good earrings I can't wear now.

Then I needed gas, so pulled into the closest one and they pump for you. Wow, I am so used to pumping on my own but hate to do it. Last task was running to the Great Clips with my $10 off coupon for a trim. It's been 7 weeks since my last trim and I would have been sculpting my bangs myself if I didn't go today. Left here at 10:40 and just got home at 2:40. Need to get some late lunch.

Welcome Owensgrandma to the club no one wants to belong to, but offering the best support group any one would want. Even after the "standard" treatment, I have never felt "safe" and keep wondering when it might come back. I've had surgeries for unrelated but "pre-cancerous" lesions so that has added to the feeling.

I am sorry you had a new primary and don't know if you have gotten any biopsy results, but normally they are what determines if if is a new primary vs a recurrence. The cytology and histology lab results identify the type of aberrant cells they are seeing. Good luck with finding a surgeon and medical oncologist that you like.

It's a bit overcast today and only in the mid-50's so not spectacular but decent compared to what others are getting. We are expected to get a return of cold weather next week so I'll be happy to stay indoors. I am hoping all goes well on Monday. Will find out on Friday what time I am scheduled for.

Illinoislady, hope all goes well with your jaunt today.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Jumping in to say all is fine. It was dicey on our 20 mile ride to Mt. Vernon. White knuckle most of the way. I really only felt strong concern with oncoming traffic when it appeared. Still had to hold on tight though.

All fine at the actual cardiac appt. It was decided that I should just stay on my present regimen since all my lab numbers are stable as well as EKG and good heart sounds. I remain grateful for the opportunity given to me to have a special nurse to work with me on dosages. I seem to have reach an almost perfect combination. I might add my blood pressure has remained stable and in very good ranges as well.

Coming home was okay — not bad, until we turned left and westward for the last 9 miles to home. Definitely meant to give you a little or at times a whole lot of charge on the meter. Very white knuckle. Made it fine though and are awaiting the same rain, hail and possible tornado that we had Sunday. Here's hoping.

Soul is what gives us the life energy that carries us through the mundane of the daily life to the most meaningful dimensions of life.  The problem is not that we didn't get enough soul to make life meaningful; the problem is that the soul is what we are required to nurture in ourselves. All we get is the raw material to make one.

Jackie, good news on your appointment and the safety of your drive to and from.

Owensgrandma, wishing you the best in your current health journey. Keep us updated.

I have a dental appointment later this morning for step two of a crown, which includes another hefty payment.

Summer is here the last couple of days with heat and humidity. Much too early.

    Happy Thursday.

I saw my PA yesterday. She took off the tape on my wound, told me to get back into my surgical bra, which I gladly did once I got home. No exercise for another month. Especially no repetitive stuff. There is some normal swelling on that breast. So I cancelled the order of another bra.

The rest of the day was relaxing.

Owensgrandma, I’m sorry you had to join us, but extend a warm welcome and support.

Glad to hear recovery is moving along Chris. Make sure to follow the PA’s orders so you can be back to ‘normal’ as quickly as possible,

Happy to hear Jackie that your doctor’s visit went well. May that continue for years to come.

I’m thinking of you Betrayal. Wishes for a successful TKR and recovery. I admire your cleaning and decluttering. It’s on my ‘to do’ list for when we get back in our own house.

Reader - those tulips were beautiful! Spring is on the way!

We moved out of our house on Monday and are now living in a hotel until mid month. It’s decent and clean and has a kitchenette so I can’t complain. Work on the house is progressing. As of yesterday, the new kitchen subfloor had been laid and the kitchen cabinets are back in place. The countertops are still in the dining room. I presume the new floors and refinishing will start either tomorrow or next week. The contractor has the cleaners scheduled for April 14. Hopefully all goes smoothly. Once we are back in the house, I definitely need to do some decluttering and probably lots of cleaning. I expect we will have the carpeting in the living room, stairs and bedrooms cleaned. We have a gas fireplace in the family room which will need to be serviced as those floors are being refinished and I expect lots of dust in the fireplace. We’ll also need to clean walls, windows and blinds. Sandy - I cannot imagine the million details you are dealing with.

Fortunately we are only about 35 minutes from home so we can still go to our usual gyms and volunteer work even if it is a little longer drive. DH had an eye exam today at a nearby mall so afterwards we got lunch and walked the mall to get some exercise. My eye appointment is next week. There is a lovely large park within a 10 minute drive so we got in a three mile walk on Tuesday.

Hi to Taco, Carole, Cindy, Sandy, Petite, Wren, CanaryCat and any others I may have missed.

Late today — I could almost have waited til tomorrow. Anyway, we had a sort of wild night last night with lots of tornado warnings along with 'just' wind and rain. No tornados around here so that was good.

Today though fairly cloudy, held off any negative weather while I drove Dh to Marion, Il to get his eye exam and order for new glasses. He got two pr. this time. Both are bi-focal. I presume one pr. is really sunglasses. He sometimes has an odd way of 'explaining' things and I was busy with the dog and driving and didn't ask him to repeat.

We are now this early evening listening to more thunder and watching it rain outside. We are definitely getting our overt share of water this Spring so far.

Chris, glad things seem to be headed in the right direction. Good for you on holding off with bra purchase till you are a bit more stable.

Owensgrandma, good to see you back. I imagine it would be a lot harder to feel positive being a hospice nurse. I hope you will continue to come and if you find anything positive here let it rub off on you.

Harley here's hoping that all continues on smoothly for you. Sounds of course, like a lot of work, but then if the shoe fits, huh !! I think I'm now used to knowing I'll never actually be done. My list gets additions and subtractions all the time.

Carole hope the dental appt. went okay. Even that other part — you know, the one where you pay. We are having somewhat cooler weather here. Wish I could send you some Carole. It was 64 today. Not bad sitting still, but it was a bit humid for that temp. in these parts.

Hope you all had an otherwise really good day.

hi everyone. After my treatment today I did more gardening. You have inspired me to get cracking. I bought three giant pots. Transplanted my variegated azalea and planted a bunch of carrots too. Going back to buy more dirt tomorrow and a new plant for one of the pots. I’m putting my red rose into one pot. It’s out front and loves the sun it gets there. Blooms late summer so hasn’t grown much yet. Good time to transplant before I get shredded.
tents ⛺️ for the cats are going out tomorrow.
im looking forward to Saturdays as I have a massage planned!!

Late entry today. I did some ironing and then went to Ikea with DH. I like to walk around the store looking at the various displays they have for kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms, etc. Seems they are in the midst of a massive display change with tarps erected through out the areas. So we will have to return to see what the new displays look like.

They have some really nice organizing bins made of a heavy grade plastic with sides that are straight. We had bought some at the Dollar store but find the plastic is flimsy so okay for bins that don't need to be moved, but not for items where you might need to move the bin for access/replenishing. So as the cheap ones break they will be replaced with the white ones. We bought two different sizes. They also have some new stretchy reusable silicone lids for different size dishes, glasses and cans. They are made in Mexico so I am glad I bought them now before they are not available or cost more. Ikea's products will definitely be impacted by the tariffs. It does a lot of business with college bound students, people furnishing their first apartment or house and for those who want inexpensive kitchen items like dishes, glassware, pots and pans, utensils, etc.

We also had our Swedish meatball fix. The meal is 8 or 12 meatballs, mashed potatoes and today's vegetable was peas with their signature gravy. It was virtually empty when we got there because it was around school dismissal time and dinner time. Traffic was not an issue either way.

harley07, glad the end is nearing. Yes, you do get to do a lot of cleaning when they are done the restoration even though it may say the contractor is responsible in your insurance punch list. They don't clean well to say the least.

Chris, glad you met with the PA and she advised putting the surgical bra back on. It most likely will help you recover with little or no issues.

Illinoislady, glad the ride to Marion wasn't as challenging on this trip. Hope DH likes his new glasses.

Carole, dental issues are such a pain but an absolute necessity. Hope the out of pocket costs are minimal.

owensgrandma, good to see you back. Hospice nursing is a tough field and I am sure your patient's are glad to have you.

canarycat, you seem to be sailing through your tx well. Good luck with the gardening.

Hope everyone had a great day.

Tonight I had my solo outing to see MJ the Musical. Totally enjoyed it, and I’d have sworn the actor was MJ as the show started, he was that good.

    IMG_9023.jpeg

By attending the play, sadly I missed the neighborhood party. I zoomed out of the parking lot and got back to 2 couples left at the party. It sounded like it was a lot of fun, and a full house.

Jackie, glad your ride to the drs was ok.

Carole, I can relate to dental $. I’m just glad I have the $ to get it done.

Chris, good idea to cancel the bra.

Owensgrandma, and here I’m telling you we have nurses in the group! Hospice nursing is an emotional job.

Harley, I’m glad you’re situated in the hotel. You might be back in your house when I’m back in NY at mine, give a week maybe.

Everyone else - Taco, Sandy, Canarycat, Petite, Betrayal, and those I skipped over, wishing you all well.

Good morning. Eww it's fairly gray outside. Maybe it won't rain, but I'm not counting on anything at the moment. I'm in envy. The MF Musical sounded so fantastic. Happy this morning to have nowhere to go — that is unless I just want to. I generally drive both Dh and myself to all appts. and almost always to shopping etc. Even if I sit out in the car with the dog. I'm learning somewhat to let other people shop for me I guess. I'm still amazed at the number of people (some look soo healthy and capable) who are parked in the on-line shopping spaces waiting for their orders to be brought out.

I actually found it a bit maddening at first that so many spaces were reserved for on line shoppers and all those spaces are up at the front. Then Dh got a handicapped card and now it is better for us. Still, sometimes most of the handicapped spaces are filled and we have to use a spot to wait for an opening. I guess in time people will wait for the online shopping spots even though it seems there are so many right now.

Hoping you all have a good day, and not too much on your plate with decent weather too.
