Always startling to find Reps. bending over backward for people at one point in time they would have barely acknowledged. I am always mystified why people with plenty of 'power' so willingly give it away to someone many of them know to be 'out to lunch' and not coming back. The Loon can only come by the power you are willing to give him.

I've only been tempted by voting Reps. a couple of times, but in the last few yrs. I get as far as possible from them.

Glad this is finally being handled. I'd have thought we should not have to wait until it is time for him to make an exit anyway to see this done. If he has zero authority today, then he had zero authority the first day. I do know things have an order, but I can't say I'm highly on board with this one.

BREAKING: Donald Trump's tariffs strangle the American economy as new data reveals that unemployment claims spiked in the first quarter of 2025 while corporate profits crashed.

MAGA is driving this country straight into the ground...

"This is a sign that cracks are starting to form in the economy and that the outlook is deteriorating," said chief economist Christopher Rupkey of FWDBONDS. "There is nothing great about today's jobless claims data and the jump in layoffs may be a harbinger of worse things to come."

According to a new report from the Labor Department, the number of Americans collecting unemployment checks in mid-May hit its highest point in 3.5 years.

240,000 people applied for state unemployment benefits for the week that ended on May 25th. Reuters reports that economists had predicted 230,000. They further report that economists believe claims in June will exceed the 205,000-243,000 range for the year.

The math here is simple. The tariffs are predictably causing companies to lay off workers and the trend will only accelerate as economic uncertainty remains. As companies see their margins shrink due to higher import prices, they're looking to labor cuts to make up the difference.

The corporate profit numbers are equally grim. While far less important than the financial struggles of average Americans, these numbers are useful for determining the overall health of the economy.

Profits from current production, factored in with inventory valuation and capital consumption, dropped by a staggering $118.1 billion in the first quarter according to the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Gross domestic product fell at an annual rate of 0.2%, marking the first time that the American economy has shrunk in three years. The trade deficit hit record highs despite all of Trump's tough talk.

Consumer spending rose by a measly annual 1.2% after it was originally expected to hit 1.8%. It constitutes the smallest increase in this crucial metric in three years.

Any way you look at these numbers, they spell disaster. Trump has made Americans poorer while accomplishing absolutely nothing. We have become the laughingstock of the world. Foreign countries know that they can't trust a single thing this White House says, making it impossible for them to negotiate in good faith.

Our only path forward is to ensure that Democrats sweep the mid-term elections so that they can curtail Trump's powers. Until then, our fate is tied to the erratic whims of a madman.

Crooks tend to hang together and favor each other. The Loon has a lot of 'crooks' to get to.

I had the same thought the last few times I've read memes on Rubio. If he ever had much of soul it has definitely seem to have flown the coop. Too bad — he should have quit while he was ahead the first time he ran for Pres. What was there then, is certainly in my view no longer available.

Sadly, tRump isn't facing any consequences for his malicious actions against the law firm. It's just a reversal of an order that caused measurable damages against the victim. Consequences would be if Trump was ordered to pay damages and compensation for the loss of clients and contracts. As it stands, TACO-man just got a little ego hurt that someone told him no.
