trump’s recent pardon of Todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of the reality series "Chrisley Knows Best," is just another example of how reality television has come back to bite our nation in the ass. The couple had been serving time for defrauding banks out of more than thirty million dollars and evading taxes, crimes that many working families would never get a second chance for. Yet, with a stroke of the pen, trump wiped their records clean, claiming their prosecution was politically motivated despite overwhelming evidence and a jury conviction. Because of course he did. This fits a troubling pattern where trump uses his pardon power to help out political allies and celebrities, undermining the idea that everyone faces equal justice.
Now, the Chrisleys are wasting no time jumping back into the spotlight. Cameras started rolling the very night they returned home, with a new Lifetime reality series in the works. The show will follow their post-prison lives and, according to their daughter Savannah, will attempt to "set the record straight" about their legal troubles. It is a stunning example of how celebrity and political connections can turn even criminal convictions into entertainment opportunities. The television producers at Lifetime as well as the network itself are just as complicit, rewarding the Chrisleys’ crimes with fame and profit, and sending the message that grifting is something to be celebrated if you have the right friends.
For many, this saga highlights the glaring double standards in our justice system. While everyday Americans and immigrants like Kilmar Abrego Garcia—who was deported and imprisoned despite never being convicted of any crime—are cast into far away torture prisons, trump keeps pardoning wealthy criminals with political connections. The Chrisleys’ return to reality TV feels less like a redemption story and more like a reminder that under trump and the MAGA movement, privilege, loyalty, and shameless self-promotion can rewrite the rules, while innocent people are left behind
Hard to see our justice system degraded so badly. Almost too deplorable for words.

During a tense Oval Office meeting, Donald Trump looked President Zelenskyy in the eye and told him he “didn’t have the cards” and was “not in a good position.” What Trump never realized was that, even as he delivered that line, Zelenskyy was quietly overseeing one of the most daring and effective military operations of the war. For over a year and a half, Ukrainian intelligence meticulously planned a covert drone assault deep inside Russia, targeting strategic airfields and bombers that had been launching devastating attacks on Ukrainian cities.
The operation itself was a masterclass in ingenuity and stealth. Ukrainian teams smuggled 117 drones into Russia, hiding them in wooden crates and mobile sheds mounted on trucks. Once inside the country, the drones were reassembled and launched from secret locations near Russian airfields, with operators coordinating the attack across three time zones. The mission was directed from an office right next to a Russian security headquarters, and communications were routed through Russian cell networks to avoid detection. The drones, which cost a fraction of the price of the aircraft they targeted, inflicted an estimated $7 billion in damages by destroying or severely damaging more than forty Russian bombers—some of which are valued at over $500 million each and cannot be easily replaced.
Trump was completely blindsided by the strike and had no idea it was coming. Ukrainian officials made a deliberate choice not to share their plans with him, fearing he might tip off his friend Putin and compromise the mission. So while Trump taunted Zelenskyy about not having any cards, Zelenskyy was quietly playing a masterful hand. That is what you call a true poker face—holding your cards close and revealing them only when it counts, leaving your opponent stunned and outplayed.
So much for the Loon's cards.

Absolutely hilarious and I for one would love to see it.

It is unity we are talking about, not uniformity. What is needed is to respect one another's points of view and not to impute unworthy motives to one another or to seek to impugn the integrity of the other. Our maturity will be judged by how well we are able to agree to disagree and yet continue to love one another and to cherish one another and seek the greater good of the other.

It sounds like the U.S. is reeling from one shitty thing to another. I avoid so much of the news now. Not all of it, mind you. But it was so much easier to start feeling cornered and a bit helpless with all the 24 hr. bombardment. Able to pick and choose now and that is far better.

One of the ways to cause issues and interferences in reasonable government is to avoid the reading of something you are charged with voting on or otherwise placate your leader.

As I have said many times - DOGE was a huge con. The deficit will expand under Trump and this Republican Party; it will not be reduced without Congressional action.
Republicans want to give tax cuts to the wealthy (watch what they do to capital gains where all the billionaires make their money) while simultaneously cutting access to pre natal care for expectant moms and access to healthcare for seniors ad the disabled. Medicaid is the next $800 billion of safety net they want to take from us to give to their wealthy donors.
And on top of all that they want to take our data - hand it to a private corp connected to CIA investment and make us all their slaves with a big, beautiful bill that’s going to try to track political dissidents (which it already has identified 1 to 2 million Americans whom they consider problems).
And even Elon has to acknowledge this reality.
Now that's pretty bad.

BREAKING: American manufacturers break the emergency glass and warn that Donald Trump is brewing up a COVID pandemic-sized crisis with his utterly disastrous tariff policies.
Every economic alarm is sounding right now....
"The administration's tariffs alone have created supply chain disruptions rivaling that of COVID-19," an electric equipment manufacturer told the Institute for Supply Management.
According to a new report from Axios, manufacturers are facing longer lead times for crucial supplies (the slowest in 2 years), skyrocketing prices, and widespread disruption to their production capacities. At the same time, demand is decreasing, spelling disaster for these companies' bottom lines.
"It is not normal that you have weak demand conditions, yet lead times are getting longer," said Jason Miller, a supply chain management professor at Michigan State University.
Automakers revealed that supply disruptions are getting so pronounced that assembly lines are shutting down. At least one such company is pausing production entirely.
The problems stem from Trump's incredibly unstable approach to his pointless tariffs. It's become impossible to predict when he'll implement a tariff, suspend one, or cancel one. Unable to properly plan for the future amidst such chaos, many companies are delaying deliveries or canceling them outright.
It's becoming increasingly popular to mock MAGA with the TACO meme — Trump Always Chickens Out when it comes to tariffs — but the dire truth is that this instability is decimating the American economy.
The companies are facing additional economic stress as suppliers and manufacturers argue back and forth over which side should "EAT THE TARIFFS" as Trump has phrased it. The truth, of course, is that a large fraction of those price increases are inevitably passed along to consumers.
Disturbingly, the problem has grown so bad that even a reversal from Trump may not undo the damage.
"If the President wakes up tomorrow and says 'this is over,' you would see a huge boom and delivery times would get longer. That would be like throwing gasoline on fire," said Miller.
"It takes time for supply chains to get knotted up, but once it gets knotted, it takes a long time to get rectified," he added.
And even that scenario seems increasingly likely as the Trump administration struggles to hammer out "deals" with foreign countries to remove the tariffs. We are stuck in a hell of MAGA's making.

BREAKING: Donald Trump gets utterly humiliated by Chinese President Xi Jinping as his tariff negotiations backfire and Xi refuses to hop on a phone call with him despite Trump being "obsessed" with the idea.
And it gets so much more embarrassing...
"I like President XI of China, always have, and always will, but he is VERY TOUGH, AND EXTREMELY HARD TO MAKE A DEAL WITH!!!" Trump blasted out on Truth Social in the middle of the night.
One clear indication that Trump is on the back foot with the Chinese president is the display of relative restraint. When dealing with most foreign leaders, he quickly resorts to insults. In the case of Xi, he compliments him even as he complains about him.
The pathetic little outburst comes a day after the Trump administration confirmed that it sent formal letters to numerous countries begging them to submit their "best offers" on trade deals ahead of the July 9th deadline imposed by the pause on Trump's so-called "reciprocal" tariffs.
If negotiations were going well and we were on track for the "90 deals in 90 days" that were promised, such reminders would not be necessary. The truth is that foreign countries are reluctant to come to any kind of agreement with an administration that has repeatedly shown itself to be deeply unreliable. Why cut a deal with Trump if he might just turn around in a few months time and reimplement the tariffs?
Bloomberg reports that the negotiations with China are proving particularly difficult for the administration. Trump has been eager for "direct talks" with Xi but Xi has been "reluctant to get on the phone with his American counterpart" preferring instead to let his advisors negotiate.
Politico reports that Trump is "obsessed with having a call with Xi" because he believes it might finally lead to a breakthrough.
The White House claimed on Monday that the two leaders would "likely talk this week" but an administration official told Politico yesterday that the call hadn't been scheduled.
Currently, the United States has a 30% tariff on Chinese goods and China has 10% duties on American products, down from 145% and 135% respectively. This decrease is due to a 90 day "pause," meaning that the numbers could spike back up if a deal is not reached.
A "person familiar with the trade talks" told Politico that the Trump administration is "under a lot of pressure" due to China's block on crucial minerals and components needed for everything from electronics to munitions.
"I don’t think Xi is too interested in exporting any more rare earths or magnets to the United States, he’s made his position clear," the person said.
In the end, TACO Trump will likely do what he always does: cave entirely and claim it as a victory.
