Radiation is much harder than I anticipated!
Just finished 5 days…and have 5 more weeks to look forward to. After day 2, I met with my radiologist and she told me to start using the Miaderm because I'm already getting redness and swelling. After day 5 I feel like my breast is on fire and my sternum hurts when I touch it. Any favorite go-tos for relief?

My radiation dept. gave me a sack full of Aquaphor samples. My sessions were in the early afternoon. I showered and dressed before heading there. Immediately after each session, in the changing room I applied Aquaphor before getting dressed again. At bedtime, I applied aloe vera gel (dye-and-fragrance-free) and Traumeel cream. For the first two weeks I went braless and put a piece of clean white t-shirt material (from an old shirt that I'd torn up and washed) under my breast to avoid skin-on-skin contact. The third & final week I was able to wear a bra again. I got redness and mild irritation but no skin breaks.

I used calendula cream 3 times a day faithfully and I think it helped. I finished rads 3 weeks ago and have 2 mild burns above & on my collarbone, a bit of sensitive skin under my arm & breast. The rest of the skin is fading away from the sunburn look. I think someone on another forum suggested not only going braless but also wearing an oversized tee shirt inside out! That was a great idea. I did tuck a washcloth under my breast for comfort when I wasn’t tucking the shirt there. (It was a lovely look - lol)
