I researched about the best gentle face wash for sensitive and dry skin, especially because my skin has become much more delicate lately during/after breast cancer treatment. I want something that truly cleans without irritation or making dryness worse.

Over the past few days, I’ve been reading reviews on the New York Times, Consumer Reports, and beauty blogs, and two products keep coming up as top recommendations:

Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel Gentle-Foaming Face Wash
https://www.amazon.com/Dermalogica-Special-Cleansing-Gel-Gentle-Foaming/dp/B000JG1QDA?th=1

Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser, Gentle Face Wash
https://www.amazon.com/Dermalogica-Ultracalming-Face-Eye-Cleanser/dp/B001B8B6BC/?th=1

The problem is, I am not sure which one would be better for me. My skin is very sensitive and dry it often feels tight after washing and sometimes gets flaky, especially on the cheeks. I would also like something that can remove sunscreen and light makeup without making things worse.

Has anyone here who has gone through breast cancer treatment (chemo, radiation, or hormone therapy) tried either of these? Or is there another gentle face wash in 2025 that’s been working well for sensitive, dry skin during treatment recovery?

I would love to hear your experience and recommendations. thank you so much in advance

I haven't heard of any of these, but my derm gave me samples of CeraVe sensitive foaming face wash. My facialist has me use GlyMed cream cleanser: warm towel first, then gently work the cleanser over my face and rinse with tepid water.

  • I had to have facial surgery about 9 years ago, and the dermatologist told me to use baby shampoo to wash my face. I liked it so much that it's all I ever use. I do use lotions, too, for dry or tight skin, as I have done for years, long before breast cancer happened. I like coconut oil at night and a Nivea lotion that moisturizes without feeling or looking greasy for daytime.
