Yes, exciting and a lot of things to figure out how to do with my photography and how to back up photos without a laptop. Wifi is scarce and I think only available in the Lodge's lounge so that should be interesting. My niece was telling me last year how busy it would be in summer BUT when I was looking at room availabilty at that Lodge there are only 114 rooms and I knew if I waited even a day Aug could be filled. I knew it could get quite cold at night if I booked in Sept so I chose the rainiest month which is August. I didn't know that at the time but I thought with kids preparing to go back to school it might not be as bad as earlier in the summer. I noticed quite a lot of bookings for two days. I am guessing I am the rare person who has booked six nights.
I hope everyone is doing well. Have a great weekend.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, good for you! I can sense your joy and excitement! Six days give you plenty of time to explore the park. I will pray for clear, dark skies (and no lightning!) on your trip.

Hershey, my original passion was to photograph the hoodoos. It was actually a photographer from BCO who was an excellent photographer that posted some pictures of Bryce Canyon. I was so amazed at these pictures. They looked unworldly to me. So that is my reason for going but the Milky Way passion is the icing on top. I do have to admit I have been getting a little excited at the prospect of going downstate again to that dark park starting in April and getting some more shots of the Milky Way when it will be visible again. Since I have only gone twice I am going to have to refresh all my newly acquired skills because I am afraid I have forgotten them. Of course the clear and dark skies I will want to have while I am in Bryce Canyon. I am so excited that my lodging is onlt 2-5 min away from a couple of main places to photograph the hoodoos.
How are you doing? Have you experienced any of this wild weather that much of the country has gone through?
Have a great weekend,
Love,
Nancy

Hi Teka,
I had seen an interview with Lindsey Vonn before the Olympics. She apparently had an injury before it even started. It is heartbreaking for her for sure.
I usually at least watch the half time show but last night I only turned to see who was winning and I am assuming the Seahawks won. I didn't get to see any of the commercials either. I was watching a movie about the big fire that almost wiped out Paradise, CA. In periods of severe drought we have only had instances of brush fires popping up but pretty rare. It was so scary to see in the movie and to know this was based on a real happening.
If any of you are interested or are familiar with the singing group Mercy Me and know their famous song I can only imagine then you might be interested in seeing the second movie coming out which is only on February 20 at select theaters and it is calleed I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2. That song breaks me almost every time I hear it because it was played at my nephews funeral service when the whole family was shocked when he died at 36 in 2010.
It is a beautiful sunny day and into the 30's. I think spring fever is starting to set in. I hope there is no chance of another arctic blast at this point. We are only a few weeks from the time change and then just a short time to spring. YIPPEEEEEEEE
Have a good day dear sisters.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, that song I Can only Imagine, gets to me every time I hear it too!
We are 65° right now and it is scary for me. Colorado Springs is a very dry climate and the fire danger is high. It is supposed to snow a little on Friday and I hope so. I also pray March will bring us good Spring snow which is typical.

Chris, did you ever get to see the first movie I Can Only Imagine? I saw it live streaming either on Netflix of Prime quite a few years ago. It was a very touching movie about Bart Millard, the lead singer of Mercy Me.
After seeing that movie this weekend on the fire in Paradise, CA I can certainly understand your concerns with no snow. Hopefully you will get a lot in March.
I had my second to last PT and my Zoom Bible study which has been running overtime and I am really wiped out tonight. I need to sign off and get my night meds and tea ready before my bed time.
Have a good night.
Love,
Nancy

Happy belated Valentine's Day! I hope everyone enjoyed a LOVEly day!
I've kept busy working on taxes and shopping for home and auto insurance. Our rates have doubled in the last two years. A consumer reporter wrote that big spikes in rates are an indication that insurance companies want you to move on, so we are doing just that.
The community to the north of us has declared a drought emergency: no outdoor watering for residents and businesses until May 1st, and after that date sprinklers can run on two days per week for 5 minutes per zone. We really need some immense March snowfalls and April rain showers.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CHRIS!!!!!!!!

Hershey,
I am getting ready to drive way out of town to give my tax guy my tax documents. I hope you had a good Valentine's Day. I know that in parts of the country there is a real concern for drought and fires. I do pray that your area get some rain. Wow, your insurance situation sounds challenging to say the least!
Well I have my vacation all planned and booked for August at Bryce Canyon. Now finding luggage and a carry on for my camera equipment is my focus. I am petrified and excited wrapped into one. I have spent a ton of hours researching and planning so that I didn't leave out anything important. Because my return flight from Salt Lake City was not doable I have extended my week long vacation into a 10 day affair. Some of that is putting a cushion in my timeline so my fatigue level doesn't interfere with my plans. Besides staying at the lodge within Bryce Canyon I have also booked two more hotels on the way and coming back. It is turning out to be a super expensive vacation but it may be my once in a lifetime trip….. who knows.
Teka, your spring cleaning is admirable in winter. Hopefully when spring comes then you can sit back and relax and enjoy the season since you will have already done the big tasks.
I need to sign off. If I don't get on the road fast enough I will have a nightmare of a rush hour to come home.
Wheatfields, did you decide to continue with PT? I had my last session last week. I will continue to my exercises daily even though my therapist said at a minimum 3 times a week. That is not enough for my situation in my opinion.
Chris, I know you have an infusion today on your birthday. I hope you get to celebrate on a day before the side effects start.
Take care dear sisters.
Love,
Nancy

Happy Birthday, Chris! I hope the coming year will overflow with special blessings!

Chris - Have a happy birthday and year full of blessings! I hope you are feeling good with a very minimal amount of side effects!
Nancy - your vacation sounds very exciting and well planned!
Hershey - I hope all goes well with your taxes and insurance. Yes, we need moisture too and it's been so nice in the 60's very unusual for February and South Dakota. I'd rather have a few inches of rain here and there than the snow though.
I'm still doing PT until I go to AZ for a week in March. I know then I'll need to be faithful about those exercises! My sister is having a real difficult time adjusting to the memory care and my BIL is not knowing what to do. It's a real difficult situation and so sad
Love and prayer,
Wheatfields

Somehow my note did not post. It is late, but I wanted to thank all of you lovely ladies for your birthday wishes. It was good in spite of it being chemo day. All went well and I chatted with lots of friends and family. God is good.

Our temps went from spring to a high wind and cold day for the next few days. We even had a red flag day which is not something we normally see here. The weather brought the right conditions for a quick spreading fire if anything got ignited. My TV has not been working for about two weeks. I am only able to get NBC. Very strange. So I am a bit clueless as far as news. I did see on my Nextdoor app that several people posted pictures of their cars looking really dirty after some rain. They were saying it was from the Oklahoma fire. I was clueless.
I have a TV guy coming this morning. I sure hope he can figure out the problem because they are saying everything is fine on their end. Obviously not fine on mine!
Have a good weekend everyone.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, our weather did something similar. We have some fires on the plains going right now but they are not close enough to us, yet. It is supposed to snow a little today and I hope it does. We will have a high temp of 27 today with a slow rise in temp to where it will hit 67 on Tuesday. These roller coaster temps cause lots of wind and of course other problems. Fortunately the mountains are finally getting the snow they need. We are hoping it continues and catches up as they are in a huge deficit for the year so far. I get my news off my computer as I would rather read through it instead of hearing it. I can be more selective this way.
How are you feeling? Is your neck still feeling better?
This is my worse day for SEs from the chemo so I will do nothing today. I have a couple of friends I am trying to meet for lunch for my birthday but it just isn't happening for a while, so we will just get together when we can.

Chris,
I hope you are feeling better now. I am been fighting off a cold all week and I think I am better and then I'm not. This feels like the samd crud I had a good part of January. I am definitely ready for spring. With the taste of spring we had for a few days it makes the whiplash back to winter hard to swallow.
Teka, I love most of those pies. I love a good gluten free peach pie. I am surprised that not many agree with me. I do love a warmed up apple pie with ice cream. I hope you are enjoying your cherry pies. I am dieting so this post is NOT helping me. LOL Are you dealing with feet of snow. It sounds like the east coast is getting clobbered.
Wheatfields, I am really sorry that your sister is having such difficult time. That is a very tough situation for you and your BIL.
Hershey, were you able to find some insurance with more reasonable prices. I hear the situation is so bad in Florida many are going without home insurance because many companies refuse to take the risk. How is your Pastor John doing?
I finally got my TV stations back. It was the new cable box. My technician was from Ukraine. After he switched out boxes he could see my photography equipment. I told him about getting interested in shooting the Milky Way. He wanted to see my camera and lens for shooting the Milky Way. I showed him. We showed each other our Milky Way pictures. He had some really neat Milky Way and Northern lights pics. It is funny because my last technician that helped me set up my new tv was also into Milky Way shooting. Go figure.
Have a good week dear sisters.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, I am sorry to read you have another cold. This has been a tough year. My DD says the Children's ER is still at maximum and they have diverted and/or cancelled many elective procedures. The next closest Children's Hospital is in Denver which is 75 miles from them. I hope you get your TV box replaced for free since it was defective electronics.
Hershey, I continue to pray for Pastor John everyday. The pastor of Brentwood Baptist in Nashville was just diagnosed with a cancerous mass in his stomach. It is the church we attended while we lived there and the one I access online on Sundays. Satan is attacking our pastors! If you get a moment, please pray for my son as he continues to pastor his congregation in MO.
We are the opposite of the east coast weatherwise today as our temperatures steadily climb. It will be almost 70 tomorrow! I will be viewing the snowy top of Pikes Peak tomorrow during my infusion so at least there's that. They have a lovely view from the infusion room.
Teka you make me hungry for a good slice of apple pie! Maybe I can bake an apple today for a little treat…

Teka, apple, pumpkin and pecan pies are my favorites. I've never eaten chocolate pie. I'll have to keep an eye out for one to try.
Nancy, how are you feeling? I am glad that a technician figured out the TV issue and am hoping there were no fees for the service call or equipment.
Wheatfields, how are you and your nurse friend doing? I will pray for good weather and sweet visits for your March trip.
Chris, I am adding your son and pastor to my prayer list. I agree that Satan has his sights set on our clergy.
Pastor John's last chemo was on Monday. His medical oncologist ended the treatment schedule early at infusion #10 instead of #12 due to concerning bloodwork results. Pastor John is taking a two-week break before meeting with a surgeon and radiology oncologist to discuss next steps. To the casual observer, one would not guess that he's in cancer treatment. He looks great (never lost his hair or his sense of humor or much weight), and he has kept preaching and sending his weekly video encouragement.
It pays to re-shop insurance. We found new home and auto insurance with an established, reputable company for half the cost of our previous policies. On top of the substantial savings, our coverages are double along with some other benefits at no additional charge. Our neighbor joked that companies raise insurance premiums to pay the salaries of Jake, Flo, Dr. Rick, LiMu Emu and Doug. LOL.

Chris, I am feeling much better now. I am getting ready to finally take my big TV box (not the cable box) to the curb which means I think the new TV is going to be fine. I was told I would get a $50 credit but I got my bill online and the amount is no different so I am going to have to call them which means a long time on the phone after getting past all the menus and robots. I will pray for your son, the pastor. My service guy was no charge either.
Teka, an apple pie with ice cream sounds wonderful. I have never tried the slice of cheese. I am glad your Feb. blues are over. We are very close to the time change and that really puts the winter blues to rest!!!!
Hershey, it sounds like Pastor John is doing really well. That is amazing and a testament to many prayers for him. Your hard work has obviously paid off with finding new insurance with better coverage and half the cost. I have reached out to my guy last year and I don't know what happened but a misunderstanding of what I wanted. Yeah, Flo and Emu get a lot of TV time. Your neighbor is probably right. LOL
Well, off to the curb I go. My favorite Wed. night ritual. Garbage night.
Have a good night dear sisters.
Love

Praying for each of you! My nurse friend and I are staying busy helping her brother out at times on the farm. She is still struggling with being able to sleep well at night. My leg seems somewhat better with the PT. I am going to AZ the end of this month to visit my sister and so the PT was extended to the week after I get back into the first of April. My sister is still wanting to leave the memory care facility and so it is going to be a challenge for me to be there and able to come and go when she isn't able too.
Love, Wheatfields

wheatfields,
Pleased good PT response for your leg.
My home PT exercises prevent stiff painful right knee.

Wheatfields, you are a great friend in spending time helping her brother out on his farm. I am sorry to hear that your nurse friend is still struggling with insomnia. There are some nights no matter all the meds and supplements I take to sleep that I may be up all night. It is very frustrating but I have more good nights than bad. I am praying for you regarding spending time with your sister knowing she is wanting to leave the facility. I know this is such a difficult thing for you and your BIL and for your sister. I hope that the doctors can find some meds that will help calm her. I pray for a break through not only with curing cancer but curing dementia also.
Teka, we have had wild changes of weather and about a week of rain. It stormed so loud last night. I think tomorrow we are supposed to see the sun.
Just a reminder to those of you who have to turn your clocks forward that this is the night.
Our pastor made a change in the early service for tomorrow and changed it a half hour later. I am not sure if he is doing that for the congregation or for him LOL He is a young guy who is now in his 50's and I think he thinks that is old!!!!! I don't go to the early service and our second service is the same. Our church is growing so much that we may return to three services on Sunday.
I am feeling like the guy on the old Ed Sullivan Show who would spin all the plates on sticks and try to keep them from crashing down. I am trying to prepare for voting and most of the people I don't know. I am also doing some decluttering to prepare for my big refresh. My painter that did Cammie's room I already asked him in the fall if he could paint most of my interior. It will involve cutting through some drywall to put in some insulation. So it may be a messy job. Then my carpeting that I have already bought will be installed when he is done. I just gave both contractors the spring as a target. I am still spending hours researching my vacation. The AI I was talking to yesterday told me my room at the Lodge in Bryce Canyon has no TV. In the pictures they show a very small TV. There is no air conditioning either. So apparently I am pay premium prices for the joy of unplugging. There is no wi fi in the rooms and no cell coverage in the park. I can go to their lounge area where they have wifi. So this should be quite the adventure but as a Tracfone user I found out my coverage is the first to go out. Also when making the 4 1/2 hr drive to Bryce Canyon from the airport the last stretch of road I will have no cell phone. So the old school maps will be on my to do list before leaving my house,. My niece warned me about that but the AI was very specific in when and where I would lose cell tower coverage.
I need to get me a horse and a cowboy hat and feel like I am experiencing the Old West. LOL Actually I thought long and hard about signing up for their horse tour in the park but my practical side of me won out. I am not going to risk it with my issues.
Have a great weekend dear sisters. I am praying for all of you.
Love,
Nancy

How is everyone doing? I had my TSA pre check this afternoon. That was an experience. I had watched a couple before me having trouble with the fingerprinting online so I wasn't too surprised that I had the same difficulty but I don't believe they ever got my right hand fingers successfuly. The lady was very nice and suggested I use some hand lotion and that at least helped me on my left hand. My hands are always cold and my right hand is the one affected with a tremor but it is done. There was quite a line waiting on me. I told the TSA person I had not flown in 55 yrs and she said some people are experiencing 5 hr wait times to get through security because the TSA agents were tired of not getting paid and they have only a few working now. YIKES
We hit 72 degrees yesterday and this coming Monday we will sit at 25 for the high and 9 for the low.
Take care everyone. I am praying for you.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, I don't know whether I will ever fly again. I don't think I have the endurance for all of that. Good for you though. We are supposed to hit a 45 high on Wednesday but will bounce back up to the high 60s again after that then a high of 36 on Sunday. This is crazy weather!
I had to cancel my chemo today as I thought I was coming down with a cold. I also had an EKG scheduled for today. My oncologist told me to go ahead and get the EKG and get a virus panel lab work done also. The EKG came back with nothing significant and my lab work came back with no virus detected (out of about 17 different viruses they tested.) My oncologist responded that either I have a virus they don't test, or something else. She wants me to rest and drink fluids and see if anything else develops. After a couple of hours I got to thinking about all of this. Four years ago I was sick like this (only it kept getting worse) and went to the ER three different times before they finally diagnosed pneumonitis. I was immediately hospitalized for five days and sick a couple of months afterwards. So, I will wait but not too long. I have a PET scan already scheduled for Monday and an oncology appointment before my next chemo on Tuesday. Hopefully with all of that I will get some answers. In the meantime I am also still waiting for a call to get a Holter Monitor for a more accurate heart reading. And the hits keep on coming…
My DD says children's ER is still crazy full here with in some cases a 7-hour wait time. This time she said everyone they saw was a legitimate ER case and not just someone who didn't have a doctor, which happens often.
Thinking of others as you come to mind: Teka, HersheyKiss, Shanagirl, Irish, Wheatfields. I know there are others and I pray for you as I read your post. My memory is not good anymore so I can't rely on that.
Take care.
