Native, I agree. Its another step in progress! Only way it drops back to two scans a year is if something shows up in bloodwork. Oncologist said my tumor markers were so low they thought they might have to run that test again

    I was too Jazzy.

Went to Walmart today for a couple of things and I felt like a lab rat in a maze. They are renovating it and its a total nightmare. Told my hubby last week that if I need anything from Walmart, I'll go to one out of town as this one is a nightmare to find anything.

Good morning, Loungettes! Happy Twofer Tuesday! We are having a great stretch of summer weather here, warm but not too hot, some humidity but not too much, some afternoon or overnight thunderstorms. It's made me very lazy. I have spent more time in the porch swing on the deck reading and watching the puppers play and bask in the sun than anything else. Mom and I finally got to the Lavender Farm last week. It was beautiful. The lavender was nearly in full bloom. The pictures don't show the depth of the color as it really was. Mom had a good time, but it was a lot harder for her to get around this year than last year. Instead of cutting lavender to take home we each bought a lavender plant, along with some lavender shortbread cookies.

Thinking of Wally and her family. Such a difficult time.

mOmmy--I'm glad you have progress to celebrate. Tumor markers so low the results were questioned is a really good thing to have happen! I hear you about Walmart--the stores all seem like mazes to me even when they aren't renovating! I rarely, if ever, go inside Walmart any more. If I want something from there I order it for delivery or pick up and let someone else do all the wandering around and searching for things.

Miriandra--the flowers are gorgeous! The bees do look very happy. I bet the night blooming cereus absolutely glows in the moonlight.

    Prickly Pear Margaritas

    image.png image.png

    Ingredients
    • 2 cups silver tequila
    • 1 1/2 cups fresh lime juice (from about 12 limes), plus slices for garnish
    • 1 1/2 cups triple sec
    • 1/2 cup prickly pear syrup
    • Kosher salt, for the glasses

    Directions
    1. Stir together the tequila, lime juice, triple sec and prickly pear syrup in a pitcher. Chill at least 4 hours or until ready to serve.
    2. Spread some salt on a small plate. Rub the rims of 8 glasses with a lime slice and dip in the salt to coat the rims. Fill the glasses with ice and pour in the margaritas. Garnish each with a lime slice.

I had enough rhubarb from tiny rhubarb patch to bake a rhubarb pie earlier in the week.

    Family gobbled up.

I had 1 piece, but not crazy over sour rhubarb pie.

DH and I went to an all you care to eat Korean HotPot place. Everyone gets their own pot of broth, plates of very thinly sliced meats, a buffet table of sea food and sauces, and a wall of vegetables and dumplings. Everything gets cooked up in your pot as the broth gets richer and richer with each slice of beef, pork, or duck. We ate way too much, but it was sooooo gooooood!

Not having a good 4th of july. Hubby and drove down to where my niece and sil live as they are moving away soon. Its breaking my heart to think that I will only get to see her in pictures and videos soon. Been crying off and on since I hugged them goodbye and told them to have a safe trip and to let me know when they get where they are going. I understand why thry are going but its breaking my heart thry are leaving.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Sunday Funday! I hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July. I did my usual and stayed home and avoided all the crowds and parades and craziness. Still got to see fireworks, neighbors on one side set off a set Friday night, on the other side last night. Fortunately, the excessively hot weather broke early and yesterday was not too bad a day. A few parades that had been cancelled actually got to go on anyway. Mom was busy with activities at BB, cookout, concert, games. They were going to watch the Bar Harbor fireworks from the big yard, but I don't know if Mom stayed up that late or not. She was still dressed when I talked with her after supper, so I suspect she was planning to go out. She might have been able to see them from her room, I'm not totally sure.

Mom's calendar has gotten pretty full for this week. Dentist appointment Monday, movers getting the bed out of storage and set up in the new apartment Tuesday, her best friend Barbara is coming to visit on Thursday. Barbara is just a bit younger than Mom, living alone, drives herself short distances. The two of them can gabble away like nobody's business when they get together, which is funny to listen to even if I have no idea who or what they are talking about!

    Thanks, Minus and Reader!

Teka--I've never been very fond of "tart" rhubarb pies, either. My favorite is Rhubarb custard pie, followed closely by Strawberry Rhubarb.

mOmmy--Sounds like you are in good shape for Christmas already! I am so sorry to hear your niece and SIL are moving. It's hard having people you love living far away. I'm sure you are going to miss them terribly.

Red, White, and Blue Vodka Lemonade Slush

    Ingredients
    • 9 cups ice, separated. Note: may need up to 12 cups.
    • 1 cup grenadine
    • 1 cup Blue Curacao
    • 1 cup vodka
    • 1 cup lemonade

    Instructions
    • Using a food processor, crush mix 3 cups of ice and grenadine syrup together until slushy. Note: You need this layer to be extra thick, so if needed, add up to 1 cup more ice and blend. When finished, set aside.
    9 cups ice,1 cup grenadine
    • Repeat step for Blue Curacao, blending with 3 cups of ice until slushy. Like the last layer, you want this to be extra thick. If needed, add up to 1 more cup of ice and blend. Set aside.
1 cup Blue Curacao,9 cups ice
    • Add vodka, lemonade, and remaining 3 cups of ice to blender and mix until slushy. It's not as important for this layer to be thick, but it should be comparable to others. Add up to 1 more cup of ice if needed. When finished, set aside.
    1 cup vodka,1 cup lemonade,9 cups ice
    • Prepare drinks by layering flavors in this order: grenadine, blue curacao, and finish with vodka lemonade on top.
    • Serve as desired.

I will miss them. I made my SIL promise me she will let me know when they leave and when they get where they are going. She said she would and that she's going to give me her address where they are going when they get there so I can send cards and stuff to them. Plus we'll stay in touch over Facebook and texts.

We were vendors at the farmers market as usual on Saturday. I didn't know if we would have customers for dh's turned bowls on the 4th since the weather was hot and good for spending time out on the lakes and attending parades, etc. We had crowds of people and a good day with sales and lookers. I had forgotten to buy tee shirts, so wore a tee shirt from 2014 that was a bit tighter than I like. You know how those tee shirts keep shrinking. LOL.

We were packed up and headed home when the skies opened up with rain and thunder and lightning. Great timing.

Mommy, it's not easy having family move away.

Colorado didn't have much in the way of fireworks this year. Most of the community shows were cancelled, and even the neighborhood shooters were at significantly lower levels than we've seen - or heard - in the past. But 10% of the state is literally on fire right now, so we had a good excuse. 🔥

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy TGIF day! It's been a busy week here. Mom had a dentist appointment to fix a rough spot on her denture on Monday, movers got the bed out of storage and set up in her new apartment on Tuesday, Walmart kept delaying the delivery of the new bedding so we went bedding shopping on Thursday not realizing it was going to be hotter than holy hell. Today I only have to drive as far as the dealer to get the hose for the rear windshield washer replaced. And it looks like I’m going to be dodging fog and rain and thunderstorms most of the day. Walmart was as disappointing as usual yesterday. Stopped by the hair salon to see if Mom could get a cut and perm, usually pretty easy to do mid-week in the mornings. Nope. The didn't have supplies to do perms in stock, they are waiting for a delivery that was scheduled earlier this week that's been delayed. Then we spent almost an hour trying to find sheets and blankets, never saw any, none of the Associates had any idea where they would be "if we even have any." Thank goodness for TJ Max. Not only did they have bedding, it was clearing labeled with signs big enough to read from across the store! Thank God for AC in the car and in the stores. By the time I got done making up Mom's bed I was dripping sweat. Yes, there is AC in the apartment, Mom turned it on once and won't turn it on again because it got too cold. And she won't let anyone move the thermometer for the heat off of 82 degrees. There's got to be a 20 degree difference between Mom's apartment and the hallway and dining room. I did discover that if the car sits in the sun long enough to get up to 120 degrees she will let me turn on the AC "just to cool it down a little." So glad the Jeep has separate climate controls for the driver's and passenger's side.

mOmmy--I suspect your SIL and family have arrived at their destination safely by now. I'm sure you miss them already.

Carole--So glad the bowls were successful at the farmer's market. And that you beat the rain on the way out!

Miriandra--with the increasing fire danger from global warming and the advent of drone light displays, I think traditional fireworks are on the way out.

mOmmy--nice to have the project supplies tucked away and safe!
