OK girls, so here's my barrage of questions:

I've done some reading on other threads about the various types of reconstructive surgeries.  Unfortunately, I find that the majority of posts on each thread are folks sounding off bout their bad experience with a specific procedure.  My boyfriend had the idea to poll you girls as a broader audience.  So how bout it?  I would love to hear which surgery you had and whether or not you are happy with the results?

Also, did I miss something?  I don't know anything bout my stage or this ER+ whatever it is.  What is this and should I talk to my ONC bout it?

Tidy--Happy Birthday!!!! Tenders--special care alert on Tidy!

I had a bilateral DIEP, left delayed, right immediate after prophylactic mastectomy.  I AM THRILLED!  I am option out of fipples, so I got it done in one surgery.  Had to go out of state to find a PS that did this procedure.  Lost a big roll of belly fat (still obese but working on it), got much smaller breasts just like I wanted (started out DDDD) haven't worn a bra since.  The recovery was a bi$<ht but so very worth it once I got through it.  Yes, I did have "complications" due to my weight, the belly incision opened up and had to be packed and cared for until it healed up 3 months later, left a wider scar than if it hadn't done that, but since I don't wear micro bikini panties or bathing suits no one will ever see it but me, and I don't really care about it.

And you really need to talk to your Onc.  You need to know if the tumor was estrogen receptor (ER) positive or negative, progesterone receptor (PR) positive or negative.  This will tell you if anti-estrogen therapy would be helpful for you.  BC is graded 1 thru 3, 1 being most like the original breast cells and slower growing, 3 being least like the breast cells and faster.  Stage is determined by how big the tumor is, if any lymph nodes had cancer cells in them, and if there are any distance tumors (mets).  All this info is used to determine treatment and follow up, and women use this info to decide what treatments/surgeries/etc they will take.

Changing the subject,  I now have a pile of pine boards on my kitchen floor.  I've got the saw up from the basement.  I've got the measurements I need, the screws and the power drill.  Look out closet, here I come!

NM, thanks for the post, saw it today waiting for the PS and needed the smile, as usual a half hour wait for a 20 minute appt. But, all is healing well, don't have to wear the sports bra to bed anymore (yay DMe!). Then the dentist... Now am going to go back to work and start getting on with $hit!

Kymn, I worked in Minneapolis for a winter and froze my a$$ off, don't know how you do it!

    Mema, happy new puppy!

Hi to all, don't have a BOTD yet, will work on dat!

Whew!  More than half done with the shelves!.  Unfortunately there was a miscount and I have enough planks for 2 of the 4 shelves (2 ten inchers to make a 20 inch shelf) so will have to get and cut 4 more 10 x 8 pine planks.  Wow, I'm even learning a whole new language!  Only took about 3 hours, and that was with a couple of breaks to play fetch with Sadie and get a drink (non-alcoholic, thank you)!  I am so pround of myself!

OK, I'll quit gloating and see if one of the tenders is free to give me a massage.

Kymn, we shall send the lounge fire fighters to your rescue. As they are SO HOT, they will be able to melt your behind from the frozen bloody ground! Stay warm chica.

Tidy, you should have told us, at least yesterday, that it is your birfday! Of course you can have a Tender. Who do you want? Wowsa, me tinks we should sailabrate for the rest of the week and git de bus and de UFO to your house PRONTO! Mese foygets, are you in CA? We needs to knowz dat, you no. As for surgery, I did not have MX, only lumpectomy. But you do need to know those other things, as NM mentioned. Did you know she is a nurse? We are so grateful to hab her, as she offers the best advize. Your pathology report should tell you most of these things, did you get a copy? If not, call and get one!

NM, I bet if you got Kathy ober dare, you two wood hab dat closet done in no time. Glad you are not imbibing while using power tools. Good girl! .......and you deserve that massage.

ScubZ, no worries on da BOTD, we can still drink da banana stuff. So glad you are healing well and NO complications. A big tank you, to da BIG man upstairs.

Tied.....happy, happy birthday...hope its been everything you wanted it to be!!!!  wishing you many, many more happy birthdays....

I had immediate recon with TE, then exchange for silicone implants.....I had to have a couple fixes....I've had this set of implants since July 2008....I am content with the results......in clothes I look decent....don't wear a bra......I have small implants as I wanted to be small.....I was small prior to Dx.....I don't think I would be any happier with any other procedure, so this is as good as it gets......I don't have any of the finishing touches....PS recommended against it for me.....

Looking forward to enjoying some wine tonight....didn't have any last night as I was soooo tired...tired today, but not as much......Well....got to take DD for a class at 6, then get her again at 7....its just the two of us for dinner (I think...DS is not home....guessing he's at work and DH is out of town)...DD was going to cook dinner...but she's been busy doing homework since she got home 1 1/2 hours ago.....She leaves tomorrow morning for Keystone Science School with school for 2 nights and 3 days....she gets back at dismissal on Friday......BBL

Need to go get DD in a few minutes....now thinking about going out to eat.....can't decide what tickles our fancy....asian? fish and chips (leaning towards this)...or just coming home and making dinner......will decide when she gets in the car....will report back later tonight!!!

Happy Birthday Tidy!! Would love to put everyone close to you on the map, but cant remember where u are from either, as I moved everyone to Scuby's, LOL!! Can't find my cheat sheet! And I did make Kathy's hair red, BTW!! LOL! NM is right on with you knowing EXACTLY what is going on with your body, your type of cancer, etc.. Hell, just found out last week AT THE GYM that since I had 12 nodes removed from right arm, needed a consult with the lymphodema specialist at ONC's!! So I called, and they said "You haven't done that? Oh, can u come in Monday morning?" Really?? WTF!!! YOU have to be your own advocate!! So now I am getting a sleeve that I have to wear if flying, and have to take arm measurements monthly!! Who Knew??!!! Anyway, will PM u with my procedure, as I want u to quit thinking about stupid RAT BASTARD right now and enjoying that Birthday!! Woo Hoo! And BTW, U talked about dryness? ASTROGLIDE is your friend dear, lol. My gay boss told me about it, LMAO! Could have put this in a PM, but couldn't resist! Hey, could be helping out someone else, right? So Enjoy your Birthday!! And here's to many many more! Can I have a piece of that boobie cake? LOL!!

Dr. appt. went good, just taking longer to heal. She carterized (spelling?) me to stop bleeding, have to use some medicine for couple more weeks. Sad day for the Hubby, as he was told six weeks with no Nookie, now will be eight! He is not a happy man! LOL! Good news is he's coming back in town around midnight tonight and I will be sound asleep, with no worries of being woke up!! LOL, TMI I know, Sawwy!! OOpsie, dat word is not allowed here!

Dorothy, could u email me the John Boy pic that has your writing with Mole and arrow? I told my friends about it today, laughed every time! I have to send it to them now! And Bernie, your joke was told several times also!! Love it!

Undy, I suck at the pic post too. Would really love to see your fur baby!!

Will try to catch yall later! Cheers! And drink some unknown Scuby beers!!

NM, go YOU with the saw and power tools. I hope your project is keeping you out of trouble. LOved your post today, especiallly the sparkly pics, wese lubs sparkeley tings.

Tiedy, I will not scold you for not knowing your BC stats from your path report becuz its yer birfdey but yes, you do need to know dese tings. For me, I have one boob done with alloderm and the other had a lat flat. Have silicone implants and jest love them. My issues seemed to be with the alloderm which is cadaver tissue (ick, right?).  Others do well with it and it is less invasive than the other options.

Unde' you up all night. Mese misses partaying with you in the wee hours of de aye-em. You are funny, I forget what you said you were building but it made me laugh.

Lori,  when our new fire man is done in de lounge tonight, he can go and keep Kymn warm, me tink she will like that. Wese tink he is party hot!  Ohhhh, he is dancing now. Oh, me tinks is is de Mema's step son with him, ohhh baaaby, let's dance!

To all de goils I missed, I read you all but am jest too tired to keep a commenting. Mese been staying up too late and not allowing enuff time in de aay-em to relax before mese has to start moving. So I see you all in de bar but no shenanigans (Chrissy B)! I will be in the hammock sleeping by de pool. Don't splash, okey?

Luv yose goils! Tataa!! and CheerZ to all.....

THANKS GIRLS!!  Where else does a girl get firemen, hot guys, boobie cakes, tie-dye cakes and all those other goodies.........ONLY HERE!  You girls are the best.

Also, thanks for the input on this pathology stuff that I need to know......incidently, I have an appt with ONC tomorrow and will most definitely get the answers!!  I kept seeing bits of the info in your posts and didn't think much of it, but it was always in the back of my mind at the same time.....maybe denial.  Will know more tomorrow though!

NM-So grateful for your expertise and wisdom, thanks.

Mrs. V.-  Yes you could have put it in a PM but then we wouldn't have laughed even harder at the fact that I just YESTERDAY purchased a large bottle of Astro Glide-LOL-great minds think alike!!  Glad you are healing, just turn the 6 weeks into "alternative fun time"!

This is the beginning of my 44th year-I know it's the Chinese Year of the DRAGON- but it's the Cindy Year of the BUTTERFLY-I am starting it as kinda a homely, hairless, small breasted worm, but will soon emerge from my cocoon with shiny hair and new boobies!!!

    Thanks again girls - HUGS

Good Morning, Loungettes! Got up early enough to see an absolutely beautiful sunrise this morning, lots of red and pink on the clouds. Just sat and looked at it while it faded. Funny, I've got some odd aches and stiff spots this morning, wonder where those came from? ;)

Goldie--I forgot about the Lounge Fire Fighters, we must remember to invite them more often! I wonder if Kathy and I would have had the shelves done PDQ or if it would take 3 times longer with the giggling and yakking! But it would be fun!

Undy--I'll be glad to help with the entertainment center, but let me finish the shelves and the shelves/organizer I'm now planning for the laundry room, then I'll have enough practice to be able to do something pretty as well as functional! I'm discovering that I LIKE power tools, how weird is that????? You make wind chimes out of rocks? Can you post pics? They sound wonderful and I LOVE wind chimes, all kinds, have them inside and outside the house. Always room for more!

Karen--busy, busy family you have! How do you keep everything straight? I have all I can do to keep my own schedule straight!

Mrs. Vino--glad the healing is progressing, even it if isn't as fast as we all would like. Sometimes I wonder if recovering from surgery without complications is actually a rarity!

Undy--are you trying to post pics from your computer? Try posting them from Facebook. It's really frustrating when something doesn't work right.

DorK--boy, do you know how to PARTAY!!!! Love the fireman! The project did keep me out of trouble for the afternoon, now I'm anxious to get the 4 boards I need, finish up, and start organizing the fabric and generally getting the sewing room back into useable shape again. I think I may have found a new hobby. . .

Tidy--Glad you enjoyed your b-day. Get a copy of the pathology report, bring it to the lounge and we'll help you understand it. Ask your onc for the Stage he/she puts you at. Love the butterfly/cocoon idea, gonna love watching that unfold over the coming year!

Princess Glitter Sizzle says today's DOTD is the Toast to  Astroglide!

    1 oz Coconut Rum
    2 tsp Dark Rum
    1 oz White Rum
    1/2 oz Lime Juice
    3/4 oz Sugar Syrup
    1 tsp Whipping Cream
    3/4 oz Coconut Cream

    Directions
Rim glass with lime and grated coconut. Shake all ingredients (except dark rum) and strain into a wine goblet filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a slice of lime, and sprinkle dark rum on top using a barspoon. Serve with short straws.

Kymn, love the cake you brought for Tidy, very cute!

Unde, rock polishing eh? Sounds like fun, do you have a polishing machine, to do this? I have a lot of petrified wood, and I know that it looks beautiful when it's polished.

LOL Alli, about the Astroglide! And you are SOOOO right, about being your own advocate. Makes me so happy that we have NM here to help us with advice and explanation of things.

Luv the kitties on the barstools Dork, and the one with a purrrrrrse.

Cindy....Year of the Butterfly, I love it! But I did chuckle at the homely, hairless, small breasted worm!

OH NO Unde, I doubt I can find that one (butterflys with boobs) LMAO. I was picturing worms with boobs! If you want to email me puppy pics, I will post for you.

Karen, I hope you and your DD had a pleasant evening together (pretty sure you did tho)

DorK, you know better than to fall asleep by the pool. Sorry chica, can't resist flippin ya!

Beautiful sunrise NM. Too bad they are so short lived, same with sunsets. And you hit the nail on the head (pun intended). You and Kathy wouldn't have gotten a thing done! LOL. I was looking for a DOTD too, but you beat me to it, so we can have two today, or use mine for tomorrow. I was playing on the butterfly and found:

    BUTTERFLY COCKTAIL

    1 Part ABSOLUT CITRON
    1 Part ABSOLUT APEACH
    2 Parts Lime Juice
    1 Part Peach Liqueur
    1 Part Peach Bitters
    1 Splash Simple Syrup
    1 Slice Peach

Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add all ingredients. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with peach

Hey goils, howz things? Just got done PT, happy I haven't lost much flexibility or strength in the last couple weeks. 1 more PT in 2 weeks, then done and back to the gym and on with life.

Tiedye, I luv the butterfly image, feel the same way! Trying to figure out my last reconstruction step for nips... I hope the onco appt gives you what you need to get your arms around this all. Please ask whatever, one thing that has helped me is a small notebook, I write down all my questions before the appt., then take notes during it. I have every appt. recorded, plus other dates like when I started tamoxifen, etc. I bring it to all appts (onco, BS, PS, PT, etc) so if I need to find dates, I have them. It helps, plus if I think of a question, I write it down in the back and then cross it off when I get answers... If I don't write $hit down, I can't remember it when I need it!

NM, thanks for the Maine sunrise! Glad you found a new fun thing, I like power tools too, I am good at demolition, not so good on rebuild! Can't wait to hear more!

Undercoverebel, my sister in law makes wineglasses with rocks, she cuts the stem and glues the rock in, they are kind of cool, she makes decent $ selling them...

Lori, glad you flipped the DorK into the pool! She deserved it! DorKy, hope things are okay, I know it is tough to get back into a new routine! The PT folks sent their regards.

Vino, sorry you are still having some issues, things for me are good, was cleaning my bathroom yesterday and threw out all remaining feminine hygiene products, so over it and picked up some extra cabinet space... At least there is one upside to this $hit. Told my DH about the "Not Getting Any" club, got a laugh. Go back for 2 week check next Tuesday for the ooph surgery. Hoping the end is in sight.

How about a BOTD to go with our 2 DOTDs? Yards Love Stout, brewed right here in Philadelphia,

chocolatey and smooth. 5.5% alcohol, yum!

Well, gotta go to work, still catching up on $hit! Cheers, Beers and Astro-Glide Smears (can't believe I actually just typed that one!)...

Tidy all I know is er+ means your BC is fueled by your estrogen That's how my doc explained it to me. Might even want to put you on hormone suppressors like Tamoxifen but maybe not. Def something you will have to discuss w/her. The good news is you're now part of the er positive club. So you might want to check out the thread for that re what you should or shouldn't eat. It's been pretty helpful. See you girls later,oh Goldie-Tried posting direct from FB and no dice.

Why am I soooo tired at this time of day every day???  If I shut my eyes, I would fall asleep....have gone to bed early the past couple of nights.....

DH's flight was delayed by almost 2 hours....because of crew....second time this has happened to him in a couple weeks...both times on UAL...so he won't be home till around 8:30.....DS is out bike riding with a friend and don't know when he'll be home....and DD is on her school trip.....so not sure what dinner will be but no shortage of food in the house...but definitely not cooking much of anything!!!!  DD texted me this morning to tell me she forgot her dramamine.....I just texted her back that I was "sorry"....nothing I could do and I'm sure she survived!!!

Been meaning to tell you,,,,my co-worker's biopsy was B9....I was so happy for her....always love to hear good news......

Going to take a walk...see if that wakes me up any.....the dilemna is, do I take one dog, or leave both at home?  thinking I'll take Mischa (though Bear will be jealous).....BBL
