Thanks girls! I appreciate the advice and concern. Tonight after my bath, I'll ice it.
Susan - Take care of yourself...you sound "run down". Hanging with the apes, chasing grand babies, cross country skiing! Geesh...reeeeeeeeeeeeeeelax in a long hot bath! lol Hope you're better soon.

This cold thing is OUT OF CONTROL!! My daughter went to State Future Business Leader's of American tournament.. Placed second.. so now she goes to Nationals.. Great.. but guess what she brought home??!!! The nasty cold.. Now she is at her Dad's with that whole house sick.. and it's spring break.. and guess who I don't get to see!! her and her brother.. UGH.. but now that this house is finally putting its pieces together I can't take the chance...
On a side note.. I am almost done with my second cycle.. one more to go on Wed!! the worst is the neuropathy.. the tingling is awful even with the double dose of the B6.. but not numb.. just tingling.. The nurse suggested I talk to the Dr about lowering the dose.. but I don't want to jeopardize anything since I am able to still stand it.. Just can't wait for the first 'good news' scan so I can get that jolt of extra energy and encouragement to keep on plowing through this!!

Hi All,
I saw PS #2. He didn't recommend anything different than #1. However, he laid things out a lot better and was a little bit more realistic about things like infections, etc... After I weighed all the pros and cons I went with PS #2. Called my surgeons office and they are going to call me back tomorrow with a date for my surgery. (It hardly seems real).
Gotta run.

Susan....oh heck is all I can say. Another strange year if you ask me. Here we are trying to gentle our way into the Spring we have all prayed for......and this strange cold/flu-what is it really, comes creeping in on everyone. I am so sorry for under the weather. I hope the good temps will help you at least a little.
Carolyn -- how great to have finally plowed through and I do think it was plowing, all the tests, interviews, scary times, to finally find someone you feel good about who hopefully will have you in surgery soon taking good care of you and getting you where you need to be.
Marina, I think I would just hang on and get the last one too at full dose. Here's hoping that is just what it is going to take to put you over the top.
Char -- welcome, but sorry you had to come for this reason. Your path report looks good and that this was caught fairly early -- that is always a good thing. Hope you will come see us often. We are pretty good at hand holding here.
:Laura -- my vote is not waiting too long ( doing any other damage ) before checking in with a Doctor.
I hope you will all have a really positive day ---
Hugs, Jackie

Marina - OH NO! This cold "bug" is crazy out of control. Hope you're ALL better soon. Good luck tomorrow.
Carolyn - You're on a roll. Finally you can start to tackle this head on. What's the plan re: chemo and rads?
Char - Welcome home! Sorry about your dx. Glad you found us.

Looks as they slowly but surely things are warming up. I think it's mating season here in the forest...there's a Robin who keeps chasing and attacking another Robin. He's vicious...could this possibly be rape? lol Should I call the Audubon Society?
Oh my aching arm! The research I've done - leads me to think it's Tendinitis (inflammation of a tendon). Tenosynovitis is tendinitis accompanied by inflammation of the protective covering around the tendon (tendon sheath). Tendons are fibrous cords of tough tissue that connect muscles to bones.
It hurts quite a bit when I raise my arm or reach for something (extend it). The pain isn't near the shoulder. Oh well...I know it could be worse. 10 days of anti-inflams for me. Years ago I had this same thing but it was in my elbow (aka tennis elbow). I ended up having surgery after 2 solid years of chronic pain. No fun!

Just to clarify.. I have one more to go in this cycle.. I probably have another 4 months of 3 weekly and one week 'off' to put me in Remission.. which for me is the goal at this point.. But my tingling is better today.. so hopefully I can do this tomorrow!!!
Beautiful sunny day out.. and I have TONS of work to do..so back to it I go... Enjoy the day if you can!!

Thanks. I feel much better. I have no idea what it was.
Ginny, we are all thinking about you! Hope today is a better day!
I was to care for my grandchild today but with Easter coming we decided I should stay away from her for fear I had something contagious.
Welcome to Char!
All this week, prior to our trip to DC, I am polishing up the novel I wrote for young adults. On Monday it goes to the editor. I am glad I feel okay to work on it. What its fate will be, I have no idea....just relieved it is finished. Then again the editor may tell me to rework an area.....maybe this was not my life goal aferall!
Enjoy today...it looks to be a "beaut" as my father would say!

Hi ladies - just checking in quickly. Had a fun long weekend in MI. Weather was nice. Back in IL but I still have 2 more days off of work, so we will find something fun to do around here.
Ginny - hugs to you. I'm so sorry you are having a rough time.
Welcome to the new girls - I skimmed through the posts and it seems like we have a few new ones!
Wendy - so weird - I watched Risky business on Friday night with my girl friend. We are big 80's fans. Haven't seen it in years! Tom Cruise did look so young!
I haven't called the doc yet about the Actonel, so I haven't gotten a replacement. Not sure why I am putting it off. I think I'm worried that I will have the same side effects. I do feel much better now that I am not taking it.
Laura - hope your arm feels better soon.
I know I have missed many of you, but you are all in my thoughts daily!

Hi Everyone! Haven't been around for a while. Just trying to get back to "normal." Been busy with the kids, seeing my honey was working nights. Now they gave hims 2 weeks off. How I hope it's only 2 weeks. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
I hope everyone is doing well. I was about 25 pages behind so I will have to go back and read about everyone soon.
Enjoy these beautiful days. They are what we went through all those s@#$ treatments and surgeries for.

Morning! Still coughing up stuff as is DH...but now we are thinking...spring allergies???? We give up! Still a bit cool out but warmer every day!
Ginny....I am so sorry you are not doing well...sounds like indeed it was the combo of meds that may have done this to you. Hopefully you are up and around soonest. I do wish I lived closer to you....wish I could lend a hand. And I would. In a heartbeat. Hugs to you honey....
Laura....with this being your bad arm, maybe not self-diagnosing or waiting the usual 2 weeks is NOT a good idea! The treatment may be the same but at least you would know and would be on the right track. Don't fool around with this...
Caroyln....whew! You have a PS....now onwards and upwards! Where will you be having your surgery?
Char...welcome to our merry band, the club no one wants to join. Tell us a bit more about yourself, if you want! And come back anytime....
Marina/Susan....DH said that lots of his staff were sick over spring break with this virus. It started with a scratchy throat and went on from there. Body aches, sneezing, blowing, coughing...but no fever. DH said that his staff all still sound sick...and the ones that don't will probably be sick soon! Glad Marina your household is on mend tho....sorry your kids will be spending their spring break with this thing!
Mamaq.....wow...25 pages behind! But then....you have been out and about, enjoyng life and you are so right...this is what we did all that crud for...so we could enjoy these days.
My washer just dinged...hey, what happened to the sun? It is now very cloudy....thought it was gonna be sunny all day?????
Once again...crud.

Char......so glad you found us. Like Wendy said, tell us a little more about yourself.
Connie....so glad you had a fun weekend away and are enjoying your time off. You are so involved with your kids and I think that is so wonderful. You will have so many great memories of these special times.
Carolyn....I bet you feel better now that you've made your decision os the PS. It won't be long now and you'll be hopping from one place to another!
Susan, glad that you are feeling better! How exciting about your novel! How did you find and select an editor?
Jackie, I'm sure you're as pleased with tthis sunshine as I am! I think we are kindred spirits! LOL
Well, I'm off to enjoy a little more of this sunshine.
Catch you all later.

Thank you for all the nice welcomes. I lived in the greater Chicago area most of my life, moved to Charlotte, NC 10 years ago and moved back last summer. Live downtown in River North. Divorced last year after being married for 22+ years, no kids, 54 years old. Glad to be back here closer to family and old friends. My name is Jolanta (the Char is for my fond memories from Charlotte).

Hi All.....
Char - Welcome.
Susan - Glad your feeling better.
Laura - I'm not going to worry about chemo and rads until after surgery. First I'm going to worry about what to pack for surgery. LOL
Wendy - Surgery will be at Rush.
I finally have a surgery date!!!!! April 20 is the day. Two days later I turn 44. I'm the first patient for surgery that morning so I have to be there at 5:15 AM. Guess I'll be up at 3:30 that day.
I finally had a good night sleep last night. Must be the weight lifted off my shoulders.
Have a nice night everyone.

Jolanta, Dh and I spend nearly every weekend in Chicago and know the River North area well. We joke that we should get a condo in the city,we are there os often, but we raised our girls here in the burbs and could never easily give up the house, so we wait in traffic every Saturday and or Sunday on our way to see a play or visit a museum. In fact, we traveled to the city last Saturday night and then again on Sunday afternoon.
It was sunny here but not warm.
I am feeling so much better, but it is scary that I could be so sick and then just have it just lift. DH thinks I ate something bad. Could that cause terrible joint pains and a headache that kept me in bed? BC makes me paranoid about being sick. A sneeze or cough would have been welcomed. This thing just ended as abruptly as it started. I should just be grateful I am well. I am.
Have a great week.
Susan

Jolanta - River North is such a nice area of the city...especially during summer .
Carolyn - Glad you finally have a surgery date. As for packing...zip up the front hoodie and elastic waist jogging pants worked well for me (easy on and off). Slip on gym shoes and...Also a fanny pack for the drains came in handy - instead of pinning them to your shirt.
Marina - I thought it sounded as though you were done too soon. But it's good to look at it in "rounds"...won't seem as long.
Susan - I'm glad you're feeling better. Those unexplained illnesses ARE scary and frustrating.

It's early and it's already WARM! Yeah...lol

Good morning everyone and it is beautiful. Will be near 73 or so today and just as much if not a little more tomorrow. My kind of weather for sure.
Susan....eating something bad could have caused a headache, but I don't think the joint pain would come along. Maybe it has something to do with the time of year ( though I sure don't think it happens every year ) as I had that strange -- thought I was taking the flu but it never arrived. Had terrific aches and pains ( no headache though ) and found it so difficult to use the broom at Maggie's. It hung on for a week though. I have thought since I read of a couple of Dr's saying it, that most of us had someimmunity to H1N1 so I sort of thought that I tried to get it but it could not really develop because there was some immunity left -- even after the chemo. Anyway, maybe whatever that was, was not able to gain a foothold so it died out rather quickly in you. Whatever...just great that it is gone.
Good for you Carolyn....one worry at a time is enough. I think they will want you pretty well healed before they start any further tx after your surgery anyway I had a fairly long interim -- surgery last of October and chemo first of December. I think it worked out to about 6 wks.
Not much planned for the day. Dh is off so most of my plans if made go awry. Maybe I'm finally wising up and just not making any.
Hope you are all going to have a really good day and hopefully some really good weather to go along with it. I am so glad Spring is here and now will start hoping for a really top notch summer.

Beautiful day! I work downtown and as often as the weather permits, I take advantage of the River Walk (completed last year). At State and Wacker there is a veteran's memorial and when it's nice out, sometimes I eat my lunch there and then walk along the river. You can now walk all the way up to the lake--to the Planetarium if you were really ambitious. When summer is here, there are some restaurants that have temporary outdoor set ups along the river for the season. (One of the boat tours leaves from this side, I think the CAF.) It's kinda pricey but a nice treat if you have some time. Anyhow, definitely plan to get out there today.

The River Walk is so nice...enjoy!
Just came inside for a forest break! Did some "light" clean up work. It's hard to "baby" an arm. Right about now I wish I had three arms! lol
Enjoy this warm Spring day! Lots of birds chirping...

Hello all, I live in Sandwich, IL and was diagnosed May 2009. I had a lumpectomy and Accelerated partial breast irradiation at Rush Copley hospital in Oswego, IL. I am stage 1, grade 1, 3mm tumor.
I go for 3-month Mammo, ultra-sound tomorrow, April 1. The last one I had came back that they found a spot that is probably benign but they want to check it again in 3 months, so a bit nervous about tomorrows exam but hoping for the best.
0 -
Hi Sherry..............welcome to our thread. Naturally you are nervous about tomorrow but I doubt if they would have let you wait even one month if they thought this spot was malignant. Still, the unknown is always frightening. I am sending good vibes your way for good results tomorrow. I'm hoping for the best for you, too! Hugs!

Sherry, welcome. Glad you found us. I think every one here just about get a little case of nerves going when it comes time to have tests. In your case, a bit more dicey since they already know that something ( but probably and hopefully B-9 ) is there. I think in time ( sure hope so anyway ) many will look at the tests they must have.....as something that will rule any problems out rather than in. I don't think they will ever be "routine" ever again, but I'd like to think that a degree of a whole lot less nervousness is possble.
Beauty of a day. I worked more than I really wanted too,but sometimes that is just how it works out.
English....the River Walk just sounds fantastic. I am for any place just about where you can be by water. It has always had a soothing, comforting effect on me.
Bj, Wendy, Connie, Pat, and everyone....hope you had a really gorgeous day. I'll be checking in later.
Hugs, Jackie

Hi everyone.. so a bit of a freak-out for me at treatment. The nurse couldn't get my port to work.. and thought it FLIPPED!! so I was ready to pass out thinking I'd need another surgery on it, after all the pain I've had that's finally just a tad better.. she called another nurse and she got it to work.. apparently she was just a tad to the side.. so disaster averted!! My counts are going down but apparently they think I'm doing well.. I am eating some of the weirdest things ever.. won't list them so as not to gross anyone out.. based on the "Anti-cancer" book.. so keeping my fingers crossed it all works.
My Dad is too anxious.. so he actually went and got my Onc out of his office to look at me today.. I kind of had a hunch but was too scared to say anything.. he said my tumor feels MUCH MUCH better and he is very thrilled.. so all the side effects are nothing to me as long as it's progress.. keep on crossing my numbing fingers and toes..

Took the baby out for a walk for the first time in the evening with my DH.. tomorrow looks promising too!!
Have a great night everyone..
Marina

Marina:
Your dad is not too anxious. He just loves you so much and feels helpless. God love your dad!
0 -
Marina, So glad the onc thinks that your tumor feels so much better. YEA! That's progress in the right direction and a special type of "sunshine" to add to this great day.
I think your dad is super! Susan expressed it perfectly! You're so lucky to have him there advocating for you!
Everyone enjoy this lovely day. Hopefully Wendy The Younger and I will get in at least 9 holes of golf today. Then I need to start getting things packed up!
