Marybe we are still on. I was just thinking last night I need to pick out some restaurants for us to choose from. Yes I am stiff and my finger looks/feels like hell but as long as I don't have to do dishes I'll be fine. (I  shouldn't be typing on it either).

I should be posting restaurant choices soon.

Here two for the list. Trying to find some choices that aren't Asian and not outrageously priced:

    http://www.starofsiamchicago.com/ (Thai food)
http://www.tamarindsushi.com/ (Thai, Chinese, Japanese, sushi basic mixture of Asian food)

Lago......I thought about sending you a pm, and at the last minute ( while that would certainly work ) I felt like maybe I should be even more above board.  I hope you will not take this wrong.

In the wee hours of one morning......scared, I'm sure feeling somewhat alone and frightened, Rita reached out to others in Illinois for caring and comfort.  That is how the Illinois Ladies thread was born.  I'm sure your intentions are fine, but I think for the most part, if asked, those of us who have so enjoyed the camaraderie, contentment and love here, would say they enjoy the fact that only Illinois ( or sometimes former, or out of the country Illinoisans ) post to this thread.  There is the entirety of the rest of BC. Org to post too if one wishes.

I know Marybe from the Older Ladies Forum and did not at all mind that she posted a couple of times on here since she was coming to Chicago.

Again....I am posting this up front not to hurt or cause problems to anyone --- but just feel that this thread was meant in a certain way and we ( the Illinois gals ) have stayed true to that for a long time.  I think it is wonderful  that your want to reach others and it is an admirable trait.  I just hope you will go ahead and post to the many other areas that you do and let us have our Illinois thread just as it is and was since those dark wee hours of the morning when Rita reached out for understanding from those who would be closest to her.  It is just a small favor please.  Again, I hope you won't feel that I am signaling you out by not sending a pm.  I just felt in posting here we might all get on the same page a lot faster.  Thanks so much for the understanding.

    Hugs, Jackie

I'm not getting there til the evening of the 23rd....coming on the megabus which will be a new experience for me.  Any of those restuarants sound good to me....love PodThai, sushi, all of it.  Don't think there is much, I don't like...Sigh.

Any one interested in meeting with Marybe for dinner or lunch at the end of next week please PM or email me. I think it's best we take this off thread.

I'll PM you Lago since, depending on the date and time, I might be interested in joining you guys.

I do want to say that I totally understand Jackie's concerns, but speaking for myself, I think the very title of this thread insures that the regular and long-term posters will be from Illinois.  I don't mind the occasional non-Illinoisans, or ex-Illinoisans posting now and then.  If they do wander in, it's usually for a specific reason, and it gives us a chance to show how Illinois Ladies are not only tough, but friendly.

My posting is a bit sporadic, but I do go in spurts of trying to at least keep up with things in here.  We all share a common bond, but the way we deal with things and how involved we get in the overall experience is as individual as we are.   I don't think there's a right or a wrong way.  I just know that I'm happy to have this place to come to where I know I can share fears and concerns with others who will understand.

Well, I have Tinkerbell all over the place and we are ready to party hearty for Lila Grace's b-day party.  The darling can only eat gluten-free so that has been a challenge.  I think it is awful how expensive the gluten-free foods are.....do they need to be?  It half occurred to me to turn my kitchen into a gluten-free bakery and market my foods on the internet with lower prices.  Then I returned to a sense of sanity and decided I would overpay for gluten food products made by others.

Lago, thanks for organizing the dinner.  I sent you a pm.

Blackjack, how are you doing?  Do you have one week from tomorrow off? I DO and I am so excited.  I am hosting a book club that day  and I haven't read the book yet. My Secret Garden is neglected with this new schedule.

Rita, Florida must be glorious.  This is a long  vacation for you, it seems.

Laura, those cookies were great  and I showed DH who wanted a batch.  I wonder how we could get a cookie  cutter for that.  Wouldn't that make a great Bachelor's Party idea?  Now Laura, there is a creative idea for you.  You could go into business with stuff like that......or do you hate to bake?

Char, so glad you are out of the hospital.  Can you tells us why those pill caused your ulcer?  How many were you taking and now what are you taking.  That is scary.  Did your stomach hurt? As you probably guess, I do take meds for back issues, so I found that alarming.

It sounds like Mandy is moving ahead.....she has an attitude that is remarkable.

Jackie, I haven't forgotten about sending that book (Tourquoise) and will do that soon.

Wendy, I hope the party was fun.  If you were one of the planners, it was great.

Joan, the swimming incident is funny. This is one group who gets the humor.  I have told this story before so the veteran posters will recall it.  I have no nipple and during the scary days, just after surgery, I stuck a St. Perigrine medal in my bra.  He is the Patron Saint of Cancer (too bad for him) and all the good Catholics in my life kept sending me St. Perigrine medals.  I was shopping with DD and I passed a mirror and looked once and then twice......I had two nipples....one on the right and one on the left.  A MIRACLE at Macy's.  I showed DD and she her eyes nearly popped out and we started laughing so hard when I pulled  the medal out......leaving one nipple.  That fellow, Pergrine, slipped down to the nipple area  of the bra and created some comic relief for us in the form of what looked like a nipple!

Makmak......hope all continues to be well.

Adey, Rene, Elf, Donna, Navy, Jan, Jan Clare, Pat, Lisa, Mich, Motherof.... and everyone else I am missing.....know I am your friend forever and I hope you are all happy.

    Susan

Hi there. Been busy with the kids this weekend.. and I'm not too quick with my broken toe these days.. The baby has separation anxiety so Mommy Mommy Mommy.. of course I'm loving it, but sometimes challenging for me to get all my 'routines' in.. Yesterday was Turn-about for my oldest and I had a blast taking pics of her and the gang before the dance.. and she came home all giddy.. so cute.. AND.. all the parents and her friends who know said they love my hair.. :)

So, the vaccine trial is HALF WAY!!  my arm now itches longer, which the nurse says is a good thing.. my immune system is recognizing it and hopefully developing a response.. They are ending this study soon and are starting a two arm study comparing different additives to see which gives the vaccine the best boost!!  And, they will be taking ALL stages for this one.. I'm so excited, I feel like they are getting closer for us HER2's and I'll tell you this would sure beat a year of Herceptin.. at least in my opinion.. Of course I LOVE my magic Herceptin.. but if more can be done.. why not!

Finally a nice day.. at least I'm enjoying it out the window..

YEA makmak!  You've hit the half-way mark!  Now you're on the downhill slide!

Susan, we need a play-by-play of the birthday party!  I am here for one more week.  We rented the condo for 3 weeks and will be leaving on Saturday morning.  It has been great so far and the temperatures this next week are suppose to be quite high so we'll have more time on the beach and get in a few more golf games before heading out!  We did stay a few more days than last year.

I hope the swim meet went well, Connie!  I think it's so great that you do so much with your kids.  You are building lots of childhood memories and traditions that will stay with them when they "grow up on you" and leave the house.  Your kids are very fortunate to have a mom like you!

I'm off to unwind from the day!

I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Zap - I had an inflammed shoulder/arm (I am sure caused by stress) and my onco told me to take 3 ibuoprohen's every six hours - so I did that for three days (three times per day) and then went back to the normal dose for two more days.  As the week progressed I was feeling more and more lighheaded but no pain.  Then I passed out twice and ended-up in the emergency room.  Lost a lot of blood.  GI doctor told me it was ibuoprohen and that I can never take an anti-inflammatory drug again :-(

Lago - I am sendin you a PM.

Hi Girls, It has been a long emtional week for me and a I see we have a bit of controversy here about our Illinois thread. Each of us here has a right to post our own thoughts and feelings. There is no right or wrong answer as to why we joined this thread. We joined this thread because we all have BC. This tread has become home and family to many of us here. Home is were you go to feel secure and safe. Family gives you support, guidance, friendship and love. This is what the Illinois Ladies thread is all about. Yes we are a little family that reaches out to others in need even if they are not from Illinois. Everyone is welcomed to post here for advice and support. All are welcome to join our Lunch Bunches to meet new friends and gather support and information.

Illinois ladies are here for all who need support. Some join for a short time and then they move on to living their life. Others have stayed because they love our lunches and have developed friendships here. I just wanted to share my thoughts on the subject of the Illinois Ladies which was started by our Queen Rita who by the way is sunning herself on the beach and watching those hot cabana boys lol.

Hugs to all the Illinois Ladies for the wonderful and special women that you are. You are all very special ladies and tough too !!

Remember life is to short so enjoy it.

Blackjack - I am sorry to hear that you had a tough week.  Hope things are looking/feeling better.  I agree - this is a very special group that welcomes all.  And I love the idea of getting together with another BC sister when she is visiting our town.

Morning Ladies....just wanted to do a quick drive-by to wish you all a very Happy Hearts Day!  And...

Happy Birthday, Susan!  And so many, many more!

BJ....sorry your week was an emotional one.  Do understand as I had a few days last week too...lots of thinking and decisions to make.  I hope this week is much better for you....

OK...here goes....Rita reached out one dark and lonely night....scared and unable to sleep.  I would hate to think that one night there would be a scared girl. or guy, out there who stumbled on our thread....from say Timbuktu....and didn't think they would be welcome here.  ALL ARE WELCOME HERE.  Always.  Just think about this....something happens to you while a member of this thread and we cant help.....but someone else on another thread could....but didn't come here to post because they were from another state/country and didn't think that they were welcome.  This thread is for anyone struggling with cancer, either for themselves or someone they care about.  I like to think that our arms are open to anyone that needs us.  It is true that there is a group of us who have been here from the beginning and chose to stay....that does not mean that we dont have room at our lunches for one more.....no matter where they were born/live.  I personally love to hear from others outside our state as I get to see the different treatments/medical care as I choose for the most part to stay on this thread and not read much elsewhere.

So....if you are from Illinois or Florida or California or heck, another country/continent even....come here to the Illinois thread.....you are indeed welcome.  And if you ever come to town...let us know!  We are always up for a meal!  Cuz in addition to being welcoming....nothing we like more that talking and eating...

And not necessarily in that order!

PS:  Watched the Grammys last night....."Arcade Fire"?  WHO????  Album of the year????  I am old...it is official!

I have to admit, I was kind of "wha...huh?" when reading Jackie's post.  I'm sorry, Jackie darling, but I'm with Irene, Michelle, and Wendy.  I just want everyone to feel like they can come here and get the support and help they need.

Susan- Happy Birthday to you! Hope it's a great day!

Char and Lago - so glad that both of you are doing better!

Nice to see some sunshine today and a little less snow on the ground.  I hope it goes away slowly so we don't have any water issues We have our own well and septic and the thawing and lots of rain have caused us problems with both at times.  Just wanted to check in real quick and say hi to everyone and to wish everyone a very Happy Valentine's Day!!

Oh could you you scrapper girls send me some inspiration.  Several years ago I was "into" it but now it is just one more thing that needs to get done.  In fact I thought that if i brought the tote with my current(really 2 yrs) project to my kitchen it would force me to sit down and just do it.  Been 10 days now and i haven't touched it.  ....sigh...

I was at the LE MD today. He feels if I wear my sleeve/glove for 6-8 hours a day we can get the tissue to soften up. Yes there was a difference in both my arms since the diuretic.

Bad news is my finger that hurt like hell and has swollen up is infected. (I have what's called Paronychia). My LE MD confirmed it… and told me to contact my dermatologist to get some antibiotics probably for staff. He did say it's a local infection. I really wish my fingers would at least stop getting worse already!  Yell… OK got that scream out.

Today I'm going to make chicken soup & crap cakes, fold laundry and wait for the doctor's call.

    ------------------

Update. Need to see the doctor today. Frown Gee I though I would have a no Rush week. Oh well.
