Feeling appreciated is one of the most important needs that people have. When you share with someone your appreciation and gratitude, they will not forget you. Appreciation will return to you many times. -Steve Brunkhorst

Good morning all. This quote just wouldn't leave me alone this morning.....so since I so appreciate all of you I decided to go right ahead. It's probably a good time to say that so often I don't comment on things because I don't always feel I will have the right words, but I do FEEL what all of you post. It very much does matter to me even though I often feel incapable of responding well.
Cloudy here today but it is a part of the Spring dance. Got Maggie out of the hospital and home yesterday afternoon. Hope she can get her sea legs back....she personally felt it was too soon, but Dr. did not. School day today and need to take Dh to work. My poor car is getting lots of overtime lately along with me.
Hope you all are going to have a good day.
Hugs, Jackie

OmG YaY AdEy. Happy Dance !!!0

Congrats, Adey. One more thing crossed off the list! Hope the skin held up okay. Wondering how Onward is doing with her rads. Think that she has a couple more weeks left?
I am waiting for NW hospital to call this morning and tell me what time to show up for my exchange tomorrow. Jumping on every phone call!

Adey so happy for you!
Lago, I love groupons! I made my trip to Sante fe through Hotwire and so I am getting the groupons for that town as well.
We changed our road trip from Minneapolis to Holland, Michigan. Lots of antique stores and art galleries and just "around the lake" so not so much driving.
I am on vacation and will return for 12 actual teaching days and then I begin the MORE ADVENTURESOME life of being retired. I mean it! I had many more adventures when I was actually retired than I did teaching these past months.
I am open about cancer, but I do not talk about it much with people. I discovered that when I did a truckload of other miseries fell down on me. Everyone has something (mental health issues, bad marriages, money problems, sick or challenged kids, addictions,) that cancer was just another bad thing in the world like war, hunger and earthquakes, That is why we are fortunate to have this forum so we can share without sounding self-centered. It helps that I am going to be five years out in August.
Jackie, I thought of you yesterday at my book club. A woman there was talking about reincarnation and how we keep coming back after each death to improve upon our act somewhat. We were thinking about reading that book Heaven is for Real and she got into this discussion that Heaven may be a myth, whereas reincarnation may not be. It was a very positive discussion.
Wendy, I watched Mildred Pierce a second time because I love her vintage kitchen, clothes and that whole California look in the thirties. I like the series, but I kinda miss Joan Crawford and her shoulder pads!
Have fun!

Other shoe dropped.
Mammogram this am in remaining breast. Cluster of calcifications found. Stereotactic biopsy Thursday am.
I don't hold any hope out for this being benign. Nurse tells me this could potentially be stage 0. I have been playing with idea of proph mast anyhow, but-
Well, there's a difference btw thinking about it and needing to do it.
Just keep trying to tell myself this is the "best of the best" if I am to find anything--- But @*#&@!@+_!!!! Seriously. A third time? Surgeon recommended double back in 08 and I said no. Now here I am.

Darn it.... and a few other choice words come to mind. Juliechicago... so sorry to hear your news. Back in the big decision box again! I have had two phone calls this week from ladies who were referred to me. They were both recently diagnosed for the second time and are dealing with the BMX decision. Good luck to you and we will all be thinking of you.0
-
Julie I'm so sorry. I had stage 0 ( small amount of LCIS) in my "good" breast. I didn't even bother with the biopsy. Just did the BMX. Just hope if it is something its stage 0 at the worst.0
-
Adey - Congrats to you for finishing rads!
Julie - Well, damn. But... it's found, and it sounds very early, now you get rid of it. Still, I know this is rocking your world and I'm so sorry you have to deal with all this.
I have an area of sm. calcifications in my good side that have been unchanged for a long while now. They do worry me and I often wish I had done the BMX as opposed to the unilateral just so I didn't have to worry about these things. If they are still there on my next mammo, I may have to strong-arm my B.S. into doing a biopsy just for peace of mind.
We had some notsofun excitement on Sunday - my DS was returning home from the city, as he often does on weekends, and he was in an accident right at the Dan Ryan and 290. Thank goodness he walked away, dazed and scratched up from the airbag, but other than a chipped tooth, he's really fine. The car appears to be totaled. Putting it into perspective though, I honestly don't care about the car, other than being forever grateful for airbags. I look at the picture of how badly the car is totaled and my heart just pounds at what could have been.

Oh, Julie....so sorry! You have stayed on this so conscientiously that I know this is all early and you got to it in time. I know this just looms before you now and I wish I could lift part of the dark cloud for you! We all do!

Julie......I am so sorry! Of course this does not mean a return of cancer so I will say a few extra prayers. Can I say again how much I hate this disease?
Irene....so glad ds is ok...whew! Tooth and cars can be replaced.....
Off to entertain DH....spring break over soon.???????0 -
Julie....It is all goin to be ok and once it is all understood. . you will know what to do and go forward. We are all here for you and try to stay positive and in the moment!?!!! HATE this disease too!!!!!

Just got my call from NW to let me know that I am scheduled at 730am tomorrow morning for my exchange surgery at Prentice Women's Hospital. They want me there at 6am
. Yikes! We are debating whether to drive down this evening and spend the night at a nearby hotel, but it may be just easier to leave from here.... that would be about 430am. Hmmmm.... guess I can catch up on my sleep the rest of the day anyway. Now I am really getting a bit nervous, but trying my best to stay calm.Rene23... so glad that your DS is okay. Our DD has been saved twice with those airbags. Cars were both totaled. Whew!

Julie - so sorry to hear of your worries. You will be in my thoughts.
Irene - so glad your son is ok. How scary! Certainly puts life in perspective.
On spring break this week. Went to Museum of Science and Industry yesterday. It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be but I think the Chicago kids are in school this week. Hanging out at home today and headed to MI tomorrow morning.
Good luck with your surgery Joan!

Evening and since I am here late I definitely want to add my darns for Julie. You are meant to be here as you are "finding" things early. Still I know the thought of having a re-play on everything is draining and stressful. I hope you can move forward without too many pressures. You will be in my thoughts for sure.
Adey -- done and well done too. Way to go.
Joan.....at last.
Rene.....breathing a sigh of relief with you.
Susan....your right, I would have totally immersed myself in that discussion. I do believe there is a heaven though.......but it just looks more like where we are --- only smoother in places, grander in scale etc and gentle and full of serenity.
Have a restful calm night ladies. See you in the a.m. Time for my old recliner.
Hugs, Jackie

OH JULIE - Hon...I am so sorry that you have to deal with this...gawd...don't know what to say other than I am so pissed! Best wishes on Thursday. If you would like to meet some evening or anytime...please let me know. Hugs, big time!
Joan - You will be in my thoughts tomorrow...you are one tough IL girl.
Irene - Oh no! But I am so glad ds is okay...I hate the Dan Ryan...I panic everytime I visit my best friend who lives by Sox Park (route is via the Dan Ryan)...Thank goodness he's okay!
Adey - CONGRATS GIRL! You are a RAD GRAD! Woo-hoo! I booked my room for Vegas...think about it!
Onward - Where are you with rads? Thinking 'bout ya!
Connie - Have a safe and happy trip to MI!
Susan - Enjoy your vacation!

This morning I had training for my 3 month market research gig through a local BIG UNIVERSITY (here in town) research funded by the Dept. of Agriculture. Everything went well, but when I first got there, I had a MAJOR anxiety attack...Haven't had one of those in years. Gawd...I thought I was having a heart attack. Thank goodness I am a tough IL girl AND I had a Xanax with me...WHEW...it did the trick and I learned all about what my responsibilities will be (training was from 10-5 and again on Thursday). The training ended up turning out really well! Market research...it's always intrigued me (consumer spending habits, etc.)...this could open the doors to a Market Research job with a private sector company...Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...wish me luck.

EVERYONE...hugs and best wishes to all!

Morning Girls.....Happy spring break to Zap / Connie hope you are having a fun filled week. Looks like you will have a bit nicer weather than last week. Enjoy your time off.
Joan...thinking of you today. The end is all most done. Begin to heal and rest. Hugs
Julie...OMG what is going on. I am praying that your biopsy goes well for you. Hang in there. If you need anything just jingle. Hugs to you girl.
Adey... congrads on being a rad grad.... hey for you!! how is the running going. I have slowed a bit as I am having my hip issue again. But this too shall pass. Keep up the good work.
Laura...new job going well. Just take your meds and train away. have fun.
Wendy....enjoying your spring break with dh. If you find my beach chair let me know. Still looking for that warm weather.lol
Jackie..how is Maggie doing and you. Remember you too need to get a little rest.
Irene...OMG I hope ds is OK and doing well. Cars can be replaced but love ones not. What happened ? Was it early am? I always dreaded making those calls to pts family in the middle of the night. Hope he is doing well.
Well I had a lovely surprise yesterday at work. My dh sent me a HUGE floral arrangement to school for our 31 yr anniversary. It was beautiful with star gazer lilies in it. Very smelly. The kids wanted to know were I picked the flowers from. It made my office smell good. lol
Well off to the showers... just a quick hi to all. Have a wonderful Weds and hugs to all in tx.
Think spring and warm weather. Enjoy !!!!!

Hi ladies. I'm not from Illinois but would love to be adopted. I've tried several other threads but didn't seem to find a home. I really liked the thread 'Do You Want to be My Friend' but the lady who started it seems to have left the board. I found IllinoisLady and her wonderful quotes on another thread and followed her here. You seem to be some of the nicest ladies on this forum so far.
I lost my DH several years ago and last year fell at home and broke my knee cap. My DS overreacted and packed me up and moved me to live with him and his family. I appreciate that he worries and cares but now I'm making adjustments living in someone else's home and have no car so I'm basically home all day by myself while everyone is at work/school. My son and grandson introduced me to the internet and facebook and off I went. I really miss having my own car and being able to go places. I was active before my accident. The knee has healed but the mobility is still a long work in progress.
Well, let me know. I certainly don't want to intrude if there is already a tight friendship circle formed and I don't actually live in Illinois. Regards, Darlene.

We have never turned anyone away Darlene. If this is where you find camaraderie and comfort it would be a wonderful way for all of us here to honor that. I guess I can 'now' easily see where you get your name.....with that bum knee. Computers, Internet --- sure something I never dreamed of when I was much younger. In fact, there is a lot that I never considered. Like Dh and I both having our own computer, our own flat screens, our own car, our own cell phones ( still can't use that darn thing very well though ) so life is wonderful and good.
Ah, Maggie. I am checking on her every time I am near her house. She thought they released her too soon but I'm thinking did not understand congestive heart failure. Seemed surprised when I told her......you do not have a bad heart. You did not take your Lasix. In a short while when she sees nothing happens she will relax.
Enjoyed my classes yesterday.....needed a little diversion.
Hope you all have a wonderful day. We had some icy rain when I got up this a.m. but sun is out now and I'm sure hoping it stays.
See you all later.
Hugs, Jackie

DH's family lives in Melbourne and Coral Gables. So sorry about ur knee and loss of freedom...u can drive again once ur mobility is back, correct? Get yourself a little car and go! Keep coming back....we are a close group, but our ties are very elastic !
Joan....thinking of you!
Julie....worrying about you!

Just got back from visiting Joan. She is doing well and on her way home. She looks great. She appeared to be in less pain then me.
(9th expansion today). I'm sureshe'll be checking later today. Met her DH too. Nice guy.Looks like I might be doing my exchange either the end of May or June. They are checking the schedule.
Welcome Darlene. All you need to do to fit in here is to cut your think pizza in squares.
(I'm originally from the NE so the square cut pizza is strange to me too). 0 -

Yes, I am home from exchange surgery and planning to be a couch potato the rest of the evening. I really do feel surprisingly good. Must be the anethesia yet? Many thanks to Lago who came by my recovery room. We had a great visit. The balloons made it home okay, but the chocolate.... well, only half of that made it home still in the wrapper. I'm planning to take some Norco and head to bed EARLY tonight. See what tomorrow brings. Thanks for all your good thoughts and wishes. Really appreciate the support. Welcome shout to IHOP

Adey -- Congrats on finishing rads! Excellent!
Julie -- I'm so sorry you are going through stress again.... I'm thinking of you.
Joan -- Congrats on being done with your exchange surgery, hope you recover quickly.
Hope all is well with everyone else. Back in the swing of things after two days of massive bone pain, but at least this time I was smart enough to spend it on the couch instead of trying to go into the office.
Next two days are pure vacation fun with the kids, just doing Chicago things, daytrips into the city. Only challenge is finding things that the fourteen, twelve and ten years old will all like.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

Glad things went well, Joan. I remember that surgery to be fairly easy as well. Hope you feel better each day.
Lisa - Ugh! I remember that bone pain! They gave me Vicodin and it didn't even help. No sleep for 2 days. Glad you are feeling better. Have fun in the city.
Welcome IHOP!!
