Invisible2 I have to say st. Charles and Geneva are 2 of the prettiest sububs out from Chicago---They are so homey and just plain charming. U live in a nice area. Ilove the park by the river--well it's been a long time. There was a restaurant right off the water and it was so calming. Is it all still there.?

Beata-I am so sorry you are having to deal with so much. I've been going to the Wellness House in Hinsdale since my dx. As Lisa said the first visit is the toughest, but now I'm there a couple times a week.
Postive thoughts being sent to you and your family.

Cami - you are so right about the Geneva - St Charles area! We moved out here (from Oak Park) 14 years ago after our daughter went to college. We have never regretted it. The Mill Race in Geneva (right on the river) sadly didn't survive the recession. In St Charles there is a restaurant on the river in the Hotel Baker.
I too was so surprised to find so many resources to assist cancer patients. The center in Geneva is supported by donations from local hospitals and businesses. They even offer each participant a free wig, hat and scarf. Though I hate that I needed it, I was sure glad to find it.
Doxie - I was surprised to find out my MO wanted me to do 6 rounds. I am being treated at Rush. I did some research and found there are so many factors used to calculate what they suggest. I trust my MO and will do what she suggests but have noticed that many women only get 4 rounds. I wish I could do 4 :-(0 -
I didn't know about this when I was going through chemo but you can get free cleaning services: www.cleaningforareason.org/0

Lago I found out later too---I would have called right away if I knew--but had to clean the house first There have been a lot of things I didn't know about at that time-That's why all of this is so helpful for everyone. Amd I hope everyone reads all the things that are available and uses them for comfort..

I've been AFB (away from Board
) for a long time, but you ladies are never far from my thoughts.Beata - I'm so sorry that you are at such a low point is this process. Your post really hit home with me regarding your concerns about your daughter. I happened to be at the Living Well center in Geneva yesterday, and I was reminded of how very much I regret not getting some support for my daughter back when I was diagnosed and going through all the initial treatments/surgeries. I'm 7 years out now, and my hindsight is a little foggy in some places, but there are a few things I wish I had done differently. I'm in a very good place right now, physically and emotionally, but getting my daughter (and maybe even my son) some extra support during those trying early days is something I really wish I had done. Yes, they are fine now, but I do think things were harder for them than they needed to be.
I hope you consider taking advantage of Lisa's offer and checking out the Wellness Place that is near you. Even if it's just a session or two, I think it's very much worth checking out. Hugs and best wishes to you.
I just signed my daughter and myself up to join the IL Ladies team that Lago has set up to walk for the American Cancer Society in October. I'm a little worried about walking 3 miles - Don't laugh! Yes, I am that out of shape! - but I have plenty of time to get myself in better shape. JOIN US!
Have a great day everyone. I'm going to go watch my DH and DS play softball, then spend the afternoon doing laundry and reading a book. Good times.

The supreme prayer of my heart is not to be learned, rich, famous, powerful, or good, but simply to be radiant. I desire to radiate health, cheerfulness, calm courage, and good will. I wish to live without hate, whim, jealousy, envy, fear. I wish to be simple, honest, frank, natural, clean in mind and clean in body, unaffected - as ready to say I do not know, if it be so, and to meet all men on an absolute equality - to face any obstacle and meet every difficulty unabashed and unafraid.
I wish others to live their lives, too - up to their highest, fullest, and best. To that end I pray that I may never meddle, interfere, dictate, give advice that is not wanted, or assist when my services are not needed. If I can help people, I'll do it by giving them a chance to help themselves; and if I can uplift or inspire, let it be by example, inference, and suggestion, rather than by injunction and dictation. That is to say, I desire to be radiant - to radiate life.

Quiet here this morning. Hope you all had a wonderful week-end. No rain here as usual. I must be too old to dance since none of the dances work. Oh well !!! We will keep going and dealing with whatever comes. Stay well.....I'm thinking about all of you.
Hugs, Jackie

I really like this one.
Well I'm getting ready to go for testing--how come we've been going for hears and every time I go for a test I act like it's such an inconvenience and wait to just get home. U'd think I'd be used to it, but I never have, OH well--just another test.

Beata-you will find tremendous support and resources from these ladies. I was diagnosed in 2007 and had a rough time, but I made it through.
I just saw my primary care yesterday for bronchitis and sinus infection. I didn't start going to her until after my treatment was over, because I was so disgusted with my former primary. She is so upbeat and caring. I told her I wished she had been here when I was diagnosed.
I have missed going to the hospital for two days to see mom, because of this bronchitis junk. She is going on week 3 in skilled nursing, recovering from her broken pelvis. I am getting anxious to know what I need to do around the house before she can come home.
Praying for my Illinois ladies everyday!
Nancy

Nancy-so sorry to hear about you and your mom, hope you both recover quickly and fully. So glad to hear you found a great pcp-like you, I had such a bad experience with the one I had for years up to and including my bc dx I have yet to see her or get a new one.

Nanc hope you get to see mom soon.
kjiberty Jealous, I didn't look that good bald. I had a strange shaped head. I had to wear the scarf or I'd look like Gollum. You look awesome.

Couldn't decide....so two for the price of one today:
Excellence is the result of
caring more than others think wise,
risking more than other's think safe,
dreaming more than others think practical,
and expecting more than others think possible.

Nanc.....ugh. Hard to have bronchitis w/sinus this time of year. Hope you get on the mend from it really soon. Sounds like it will be much easier with a Dr. you can have good feelings about and so work with fruitfully.
Sorry your having to miss your Mom......but moms' understand how bad you can feel and that the less "germs" walking around where she is can't be a bad thing.
Still doing my rain dance here where the Gods have forgotten us, but it is going to be so nice and so terrifically welcome when it finally finds us.
Stay cool !!!
Hugs, Jackie
